DAQ Troubleshooting Question

When I was setting up my USB 6210 I hit the run button to see what my voltage values were. Without doing anything to my DAQ assistant or touching the DAQ, the voltage inputs do this. Any ideas as to what may be causing this?

My current VI is nothing but a DAQ. At one point I will have the voltage input that is in the screenshot that varies by 20+ mV and I attached a voltmeter to confirm. But then at any instant all of the inputs drop down and hover around 1.5 mV. When the inputs are at the top values the inputs float around +/- 2mV so I know that something is wrong when I have all of them drop down to 1.5 mV at the same time and they all stay there until randomly they go back up to the higher values. Let me know if you need more explaination.

  • This DAQ assitant question confused me

    Hi,
the question asked 'DAQ assistant can perform all of the following operations, except:"
    1. Frequency Measurement, 2. Arbitrary Waveform generation, 3. Digital Input, 4. Analog input.
I think DAQ assistant can perform all of above, anybody can give me some hints?
    Thanks

If you can do it in Measurement and Automation Explorer you can do it with the DAQ Assistant. The only real limitation is hardware, so as long as your board supports what you are trying to do then you can do it with the DAQ Assistant.
In other words, the DAQ Assistant can do all of those things so long as your board supports it.

  • DAQ 6533 question

    HI, all:
I have a question on DAQ Card 6533.
My peripheral device need a 'ACK' signal to start the transferring of data
into the 6533, but from the NI Website, I know that the 6533 can't generate
the 'ACK' signal at the beginning, so we have to use another DIO Line to
provide this pulse. My question is that how we can connect two outputs of
the 6533 together, both connect to the 'ACK' pin of the peripheral device,
    will it cause some problem?
    Thanks,
    Guohua

    Guohua
The 6533 has the "Wired-Or" ability. You can find more info about this in the 6533 user manual in chapter two.
Here is a brief description about wired-or and how to program it.

  • Daq assist question

Im using the DAQ assist to look at counting input on my dev1 ctr3 line that goes to my counter/timer board.
Initially I was using edge count in a 10ms timed loop to count pulses. But I ran into some counting variations (i suppose this is because i am using the default 1khz clock that cannot always accurately stop the counter at 10ms)
next i tried using the frequency option on the daq assist and i specified a 10ms integration time. This seems to work much better to reduce counting error (as i am not relying on the 1khz system clock. This method however assumes that Im trying to look at phenomena that occur periodically. (my real use is to look at a stochastic process and count how many times it occurs in 10ms)
Is there anyway to specify that the board only counts for 10ms of integration time, and simply returns the number of counts it saw (rather than a frequency).
    Thanks,

  • Daq device questions

    Hi:
I need to syncronize AO and DO on a DAQ device.
I am thinking about USB-63XX series (for example USB-6341.), which has clocked DO, and probably cheaper than PCI series.
I have checked this example : http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/EBD603683446EC13862575B3006A63A2 , which makes DO's clock to be AO's sampling clock.
(the website shows that example is for PCI-series)
What I am not sure is, is this kind of shared clocks supported by most of the DAQ device with clocked digital output?
    Many thanks

    Hi js777,
You are referring to sample clock synchronisation as mentioned in the article in your post. This type of synchronisation is supported on most types of DAQ devices. Please refer to the following links for a list of the NI DAQ models that support this form of synchronisation:
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370466V-01/mxdevconsid/synchronmxsc/
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370466V-01/mxdevconsid/synchrone/
Please note that as mentioned in here: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370466V-01/mxcncpts/syncsampleclock/ this form of synchronisation can result in jitter when used with multiplexed DAQ devices.

  • Kin twom troubleshooting question

When someone calls me, I can hear them, but they can't hear me.  Same thing if I make a phone call, person on other end can't hear me.  I'm guessing it might be a microphone problem on my phone?  If so, is there anything I can do about it? Or does anyone have any ideas what my problem might be?

    Hello gooseberries,
I know how upsetting it can be to not be able to get any outbound audio on your calls.  Does the phone react differently when on speakerphone or when attached to a headset?  Have you attempted pulling the battery and reinserting?  Is there any apparent physical or water damage to the device?  I would certainly like to troubleshoot this concern further to find a solution and look forward to hearing from you.

  • Home Button Troubleshooting Question

    Hello
Is there a way to see if the home button assembly (screen side), or the home button terminals (battery/case side) to see which is causing my home button not to work? I have one ordered to replace, but I just want to test it out to make sure I am fixing the right thing.
I've already tried cleaning it, and to re-calibrate it by hitting the home button until the power off slider and holding the home button down until the app that is up disappears (or is that only for a iPhone 4)
Also what causes the power button to get stuck, does something break/bend or something else?
    Thanks

  • Wireless Troubleshooting Questions

We have a Cisco 4400 WLC with about 70 Cisco AIR-1131AG-A-K9 access points.  The controller runs and the access points run 4.1.171.0 code.
We work in a hospital enviroment and nurses from one of our floors (3N) are complaining about poor/low signal when they enter a patient room with a mobile/nursing cart.  They say that the low signal strength really slows them/their medical applications (Meditech POM) and they are forced to move to a computer with an Ethernet connection to work.  They are then forced to basically communicate with the patient by yelling or move back in forth between the wired computer and the patient room.  The mobile/nursing carts are just specialized mobile workstations with a dell laptop and a battery backup.
The native Windows XP wireless management bit says that in one particular problem area we get about two bars and are connected at 11 mpbs.  I can set my dell laptop ontop of the mobile cart and while I more-or-less get the same signal strength my connection speed is faster.  We found that we were both connected to the same AP, but the slower device connected over the 802.11g and the faster device connected over 802.11a.
I also know that each 802.11a radio only had between 1-3 clients associated with them, while our 802.11g radios each had between 3-8 clients associated with them.  We do not allow 802.11b, so I am not sure how to explain the difference in speed.  My guess is that it is due to the number of clients associated with the 802.11a radio vs the 802.11g radio, or am I am totally off?
I think our biggest problem is the low signal strength in the patient rooms.  I unfortnately, did not document the RSSI in that room or even conduct any type of performance tests.  I think we spent too much time trying to blame the issue on some type of interference or rouge AP, but that didn't return anything.  We did have two of the three access points show that they failed the interference profile, but that seemed to have been transient.  What types of things should I do to determine if the signal strength is at fault or it is just the scape goat, futher more the only means of addressing the poort/low signal that I know of is by increasing the power level on the access points.  they are currently set to 1.  How much would you increase the signal to begin with?
I added a AP placement map.  I indicated the location from which we tested with a blue dot.  Please let me know if I need to add or clarify anything.  Thank you all for any assistance or suggestions you can offer.

  • Kernel Panic Troubleshooting

    A troubleshooting question:
Whenever a pair of headphones I have plugged into the audio-out / headphone jack is fiddled around with (i.e turning it in the plug or turning it while unplugging it - especially the latter) I get a kernel panic. I have verified it by testing it multiple times. Whenever I turn the cord and unplug it I get a kernel panic.
Can anyone tell me what might cause this and what I can do to fix it?

  • E book question?

Hi there , I purchased a book called High Probability Trading back in 2008 ish
It opened on Adobe editions fine back then on my old laptop which is running on Windows 2000
I havent used that laptop for a couple of years.
I started it up today, but I cant open the book on adobe editions, there is an error 2038
I cant seem to transfer it to my other laptop either which is running on windows XP
Can anyone offer me a solution please?

Apparantly 2038 is inability to connect to server.
See some suggestions at https://getsatisfaction.com/booksonboard/topics/adobe_digital_editions_gives_me_error_2038 _when_i_try_to_download_how_do_i_get_my_book
for example, temporarily turn off your firewall.
Someone else says it may be a version conflict.  http://support.diesel-ebooks.com/kb/article/troubleshooting-questions/i-receive-error-2038 -in-adobe-digital-editions
It could be that the AdobeID registration has got confused; it does sometimes.
Try clearing it using ctrl-shift-D to ADE, restart ADE, and reapply your old registration.
Then see if you can open the book.
If you need to reinstall ADE, v1.7.2 is probably your best bet.  There are lots of issues with 2.0, especially on older machines.
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

  • DAQ of low voltag signal

    Hello,
as I´m quite new to LabView and DAQ this question is hopefully easy to answer.
I´m trying to read a voltage signal from a device referring to a temperature ( 10mV = 1°C). When reading the voltage with my DAQ-Card with a rate of 1000 Hz, I see the voltage I expect (300 mV) and peaks with 2,5 V and above 10 V. When I connect to a oscilloscope I can´t see those peaks, but just the right voltage. My question is if this is a problem arising from the small voltage? Does my Card internally amplify the voltage? Do I need to amplify the signal before connecting to the card?
    Thanks for your answers!

It should be quite easy for the DAQ-Card to read a 300mV signal at a sampling rate of 1kHz.
I can't explain why you are seeing peaks of "2.5V and above 10V" - this sounds quite wrong - in fact most DAQ-Cards are not even capable of directly measuring anything greater then 10V.
Most DAQ cards will measure using a default range of -5V to +5V (instrumentation amplifier gain of x1) unless you specify otherwise.
In traditional DAQ programming, you specify your expected maximum signal range and LabVIEW/DAQ chooses a suitable board gain to cover at least your signal range. Board gain values are typically 0.5, 1.0, 0.5, 0.2, 0.1, 0.05, etc, etc, although not all boards have as full a range as some others do (it varies depending on cost/specification) - for example, the NI-PCI-6025E low cost board only has gain/ranges of 0.5 (+/-10.0 V), 1.0 (+/-5.0 V), 0.1 (+/- 500 mV) and 0.01 (+/- 50mV).
So to answer your specific questions...
    i) No the problem you are seeing is not due to your lowish signal.
ii) Your card can amplify the voltage prior to the DAC (digital to analogue converter) - although you need to program this as you deem appropriate.
iii) Normally you don't need to amplify the signal yourself (except in special circumstances).
Final advice - you should always try to use the default "differential" measuring mode in order to minimise noise - and check to make sure that your signal source is ground referenced to your PC/DAQ board by some route.

  • DAQpad 6020E not configured on WinNT

I am testing a device connected to DAQPad6020E. When I connect to a WindowsNT system, and run MAX, the device is not shown. Devices & interfaces -> create new, also does list the 6020E. The 'Device configured' light on the DAQPad lights up for a second after I switch it on and then turns off. What could the reason?
I want to switch the DAQpad6020E between a Windows NT and Windows XP system often. What is an easy way to do this?

    Rajis,
Unfortunately USB is not officially supported under Windows NT. Do you have any working USB devices on your NT system? Your problem may be one of USB/OS compatibility.
Here is a link to the online DAQ Troubleshooter page.
The DAQPad6020E is only supported under Traditional NI-DAQ running on operating systems that support USB devices (such as Windows 98, 2000, and XP). Please post back if you have any further questions or support issues.
