DAQmx devices not recognized after reboot

I have a PXI-1042 box communicating with a desktop computer over a MXI-3 bridge.  This system has been up and running for several years through four or five revs of code. I am currently running MAX 4.6.0f1, DAQmx 8.9.5, LV 2009 and TS 4.2.
Lately when an engineer logs on, although all six  cards are recognized in the NI-DAQmx Devices configuration section, only three are listed as installed. All six cards are listed in the Chassis section. See attached screen shot. If the engineer logs out and reboots enough times, eventually all six cards are available. Any ideas on what may be corrupting  the configuration?
The PC is a Dell Precision WorkStation 380 (Pentium 4) running XP SP3 with 4 GB of memory. The installed PXI cards are:
Slot        Card
1            8330 MXI-3
2            2567 Relay Control
3            6551 DIO
4            6551 DIO
5            2503 Mux
6            6220 M series DAQ
7            2591 Coax Mux
Thanks, Bob

John,
Here are answers to most of your questions:
Can you verify that the missing switch modules are always only the switch modules, or are other modules sometimes missing, too?
           >> It is always the switch modules that are missing.
Is the MXI Bridge always connected to the host controller?
Is the chassis always powered up before the host?
           >> Yes and yes.
When the engineer repeatedly logs out and in, do the cards appear only one at a time, or do multiple formerly missing cards appear at once?
           >> They always come and go together.
Once all cards appear in MAX, do they remain until the machine reboots (even if you log out or in)?
           >> Not positive on this one. I'm 90% sure they come and go, even with just logging in and out.
When cards are missing, does the device manager list the cards under the NI Devices section, or are there any bangs?
           >> Not sure what you are asking here. Is this the "NI-DAQmx Devices" section that is highlighted in the screen shot? The center panel is what is listed when this section header is selected (as shown). What are "bangs"?
Thanks for your help

  • ACR122U smart card reader not recognized after reboot...

I am new to POS Windows and have been working with wondows for ever. I was using ACR 122u contactless usb smart card reader with windows XP and communicating with it using java with no problems. Then our I changed the OS to windows Pos ready 2009 and we found out that USB card reader has to be unplugged and plugged back in after rebooting the computer. other than the OS everything else is identicle (driver, reader, java program, ect..). Can any one tell me what could cause this problem and what I can do to solve this.
I have cheked the device manager and under USB controllers it says that it is unrecognized deivice..I tried changing the reader, changing the port and(actually the reader is pluged in to a linksys external usb hub, but changing this to a internal port did not make any difference)  tried chagning some settings in control panel.
    1. I checked the power option of the root usb hub.
    2. Changed the driver.cab to a normal driver.cab obtained from the normal xp version. Uninstall the driver and reinstall it.
So far this hasnt been working.
I hope someone could help me with this.

After extensive tests with Win 7 Embedded and ACR122U, I can confirm the same problem. It seems that reader firmware hangs and the only way to recover is to unplug and plug again the reader. We shall repeat the tests with readers from other manufacturers.
For the tests, we use a Win7 Embedded Standard PC with an ACR122U connected. We installed and configured the ACS Monitor program to start automatically with windows. We made a small utility to restart the PC every minute and we placed it on the Startup directory.
Within the first 5-10 reboots, the reader fails and the ACS monitor program shows " No reader connected" and no reaction from the reader. If we shall unplug and plug the reader again to the USB port everything works fine again.

I grasp that for your USB is not recognizing devices until you have rebooted your system. You have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers but no change.
    Would you try these steps
    Go to Computer
    Right click and choose manage
    Double Click on Device Manager
Click on the USB to expand
Right click on one of the root hubs and choose properties
Click on the power management tab
Uncheck allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
Repeat the above process for the remaining USB root hubs.

  • T40: Pointing device not recogniced after booting

The pointing device is sometimes not recogniced right after booting. The error message says: activate the pointing device by the bios setting. But in the bios section it is always set to automatic as welll as in the IBM system setup. The error occurs only randomly.
Might be something wrong with the bios? Any experience?? Battery problem?
    Thanks!

Yes, it is the Cisco "b" wireless card and here's the driver:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-42683
Make sure to follow the instructions on the download page, since the actual process has two steps before the driver is fully installed.
    Hope this helps.

  • Wifi card not recognized after reboot.

I've got a Lenovo X140e and an Intel wifi card. (Intel Corporation Wireless-N 7260) that I installed myself, since the support for the Broadcom card it came with was spotty.
If I reboot my laptop, the card won't show up with either iwconfig or even lspci. If I do a cold reboot (power down entirely and start back up), it will show up just fine.
    What gives?
    Relevant lspci output:
01:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 7260 (rev 4b)
            Subsystem: Intel Corporation Wireless-N 7260
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 38
            Memory at f1300000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
            Capabilities: <access denied>
            Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi
            Kernel modules: iwlwifi

When the card is recognized, rfkill lists it as unblocked; when it's not recognized, it doesn't show up at all.
I've got i3 installed; for connection management I've been sort of trying different things - netctl never works but wifi-menu has been pretty reliable. I haven't installed any special power management stuff at all - I'm not really sure how to find out what was auto-installed?

  • Device not recognized after downloading itunes 11.  Re-installed itunes but it didn't help.  seems to recognize my phone as a camera.  What to do?

My PC runs Microsoft XL.  Downlowaded itunes 11 to my iphone 5 and then tried to sync with my computer.  The computer. however,  does not recognizr my phone as a "device."  In fact, I can't even get the word "device" to appear in the sidebar of the itunes.  I deleted the current itunes 11 and reinstalled but it didn't help.  The PC seems to recognize my phone as a camera.  Any suggestions?

  • Firewire 800 device not recognized after a power cycle

I picked up a Seagate FreeAgent Desk | Mac edition (1 Terabyte) a few weeks ago and the first thing I did was format it on my iMac (it came formatted, but I figured it wouldn't hurt). I also wanted to make sure it was done right. So I know the FS works great with this iMac.
As you may see, I have a 3.06 24" iMac to give you an idea of what machine this is being plugged into. The one FW 800 port in the back.
I picked 1394b (FW800) because the speeds are so impressive - and so far this drive is working great! With one exception ..
When I power the machine down & bring it back online, the drive does not automatically come back - and I have to disconnect either the power, or Firewire 800 cable (which I've tried two of - the stock one with the Seagate product and another high quality cable). After that it's smooth sailing.
I just want to get this device working between boots so I can rely on it to take my time machine backups without worrying about fiddling with it to get it working.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, and unfortunately this is my only FW 800 device (not much troubleshooting possibilities). I'm looking to buying a WD MyBook Studio 1TB Fw800 drive - but I won't be doing that (yet) if the port is my issue and not the Seagate drive.
This link is to an image in which you can see my Fw settings in System Profiler.
    http://i39.tinypic.com/105dz4y.png
I've been reading the Seagate forums looking for some help, and there seems to be issues with the drivers powering themselves off and confusing the OS, but this doesn't look to be the case. Unfortunately I've got 700GB of data on this drive and will need to move the contents to my on-board drive so I can format the unit with Fat32, plug it into an XP PC (gogo upstairs) and run the Seagate Manager.exe and see if I can modify the power settings (all on a whim, awesome).
I'm just curious what I should do - I don't live in a city where there's an Apple store but there is an Apple authorised reseller/service centre. It looks as though I'll be heading there to see what's up.
Has anyone else seen a problem like this?
    Thanks in advance,
    hENN

not enough specific information about what caused the problem but I'll give you some pointers to ALWAYS follow with firewire drives. I've been using them for many years without issues through all the OSX versions.
If Mac is powered on: power on seagate and wait a few for the hard drive to spin up, connect firewire cable to Mac first then Seagate. When done : a) unmount the seagate listen for the hard drive to complete its cycle then power seagate down, remove firewire from Mac first then seagate. b) or just power down Mac then power off seagate when the Mac is done.
If Mac is not powered on: connect firewire cable to mac and seagate, power on seagate and listen for hard drive spin up to complete then power on Mac.
The problem with firewire is, if user makes just one mistake with the above then firewire recognition comes into play, such as device will not mount to desktop, etc. Sometimes user gets lucky and nothing happens but consider that rare.
So if user does have firewire troubles , what to do? Not fool proof but many times successful, disconnect external power and all cables and power cycle the external on/off a few times but listen for hard drive spin up and spin down. On the Mac either one or both zap the pram and or power manager reset. This works many times but does not save an external if user highly abuses the procedure. You can also apply this to USB troubles.

  • Pluglink ethernet device not recognized after windows 8.1 upgrade

After upgrading to Windows  8.1  I could not get a ethernet connection using the
Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30) with a Pluglink PL9650-ETH ethernet device.
The Pluglink device was supplied by ATT uverse and has worked with no problem whit this computer and Windows7-8.

The "hardwire" ethernet connection says a cable is unplugged. Any ideas?

    Hello @macenv,
Unfortunately, there are no drivers for your Atheros Network Controller on a system running Windows 8.1. I would recommend you try Atheros to see if they have anything that will work for you, but as it stands the HP Pavilion 500-164 Desktop PC Drivers does not have any Ethernet drivers listed for your computer. You can try going to Atheros and see if they have any Windows 8.1 drivers for you Ethernet.
I hope this helps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Raw device not seen  after reboot the server

    hi,
I hv upgrade kernal in linux 7.2 but when reboot system no raw device found
how can find out raw device

    From http://www.fors.com/orasupp/unix/37914_1.HTM
Raw Devices and Oracle - 20 Common Questions and Answers
    2. How can a raw device be recognised?
In the /dev directory, there are essentially two type of files: block
special and character special. Block special files are used when data is
transferred to or from a device in fixed size amounts (blocks), whereas
character special files are used when data is transferred in varying
size amounts. Raw devices use character special files; a long listing
of the /dev directory shows them with a 'c' at the leftmost position of
    the permissions field, e.g.
    crw-rw-rw- 1 root system 15, 0 Mar 12 09:45 rfd0
In addition, character special files usually have names beginning with
an 'r', as shown in the above example. Some devices, principally disks,
have both a block special device and a character special device
associated with them; for the floppy diskette shown above, there is also
    a device
    brw-rw-rw- 1 root system 15, 0 Apr 16 15:42 /dev/fd0
So the presence of a 'c' in a device does NOT necessarily mean this is a
raw device suitable for use by Oracle (or another application).
Generally, a raw device needs to be created and set aside for Oracle (or
whatever application is going to use it) when the UNIX system is set
up - therefore, this needs to be done with close co-operation between
the DBA and UNIX system administrator.
Once a raw device is in use by Oracle, it must be owned by the oracle
account, and may be identified in this way.

  • HD not recognized after reboot during installation

    Hello,
I am installing Solaris 8 on a Dell Optiplex pc.
I boot from the CD Rom and the install appears to go ok until the install program indicates that it has to reboot.
When the unit does reboot, I get an error message that it cannot find the hard drive.
When I go to the bios setting, I see that it only recognizes the floppy drive as a means to boot.
    What have I done wrong?
I have a dos partition on the drive (8mb and formatted).
    Chris Hax

I am new to solaris too, but according to the information I gathered here and there, it needs an unformatted primary partition (just white space). I am dual booting with Windows NT, and what I did was to create small partition for the boot partition of the NT and leave the rest of the disk empty(do not create partition). Somewhere during the installation, solaris will ask you, among other things, whether it can use the empty space without disturbing the existing data. Answer yes and it will ceate it's own boot selection, whereby you will be able to select between solaris and anything else that you had before. That's a superb feature in solaris.
    regards.

  • USB device not recognized after upgrade to Mountain Lion

I just upgraded from 10.6.8 to 10.8.2  (mountain lion)
I use a usb audio interface (the Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6, to be exact) for recording. Prior to the OS update, it was working fine. Post-update, it is unrecognizable by my computer... it doesn't show up in the "sound" panel in system preferences, it doesn't show up in the system profiler. It doesn't exist.
I have posted on the Native Instruments forum as well but I thought maybe someone here has had a similar experience. Thanks!

Agreed, but don't forget about Lexicon, I use one of their Ionix units (U82S) and it has remained flawless, from Snow Leopard to Mavericks. As far as I know all Lexicon devices work with Mavericks, even the cheap little Alpha.

  • Printer not recognized after reboot

I'm using a ProBook 4540s running Windows 7 Professional and printing to an Officejet 7410.  When my laptop reboots I have to uninstall and reinstall the driver s/w to get everything to work.  The error I get is searching preconfigured driver folder, no driver found

    Hi aab10,
I understand you have an Officejet 7410 being used with Windows 7 that you to uninstall and reinstall any time you restart your computer. I will certainly do my best to assist you with this!
It sounds to me like something is stuck somewhere causing the drivers to need a reinstall. I'd suggest you perform a Level 3 Uninstall which will remove any and all printer software related the the Officejet. Once that is done, I'd recommend you clear out your Temp folder and then download the HP Printer Install Wizard to download and install the software again. This should stop the cycle of having to reinstall the drivers each time the computer is rebooted.
