DAQmx VI text garbled

This is weird and I'm not sure how to correct it.  The text in the DAQmx menu and the polymorphic selectors has become garbled.  The VI label is readable when shown but nothing else is useful.

I honestly can't say whether or not a certain VI caused the problem.  I just noticed it once when I opened a VI from a forum post.
It just occured to me to see what the palette looks like in LV2012.  It's not garbled but it's not in english either.  Maybe this has something to do with laguage settings on my machine?
Language settings on machine.  That is a good point that may be coming into play.  The image you just showed looks to be German.  For the machine you opened that on, could it be a machine with the German language set?
Your original images showed garbage characters.  But I was suspecting Chinese because I had seen the "why is my LV showing Chinese" before, and I know that for a language like Chinese that doesn't use normal characters, it will show Chinese characters if a font language set is available on a PC, and goofy characters like ones on the ASCII table you never really use much in real life start showing up as replacements for the Chinese characters it can't show.  Or sometimes a PC might just show the small rectangle as a placeholder for the characters it can't draw.
Now I don't know how LabVIEW decides whether to show menues and palettes using German names vs. English names vs. any other language.  But a language setting within the OS itself could certainly come into play.
One other place to look is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments\LVProductDLLInfo\12.0.0  There are .ini files there associated with different languages.  But that seems to be more about describing how the package is licensed for any given language as opposed to actually assigning which language to use.
Maybe someone from NI can add some insight to your problem.  Or even one of the other experience LabVIEW users who regularly program in other languages such as German.

Why is the text garbled when I convert a pdf file to  microsoft word ?

    Hi amedah,
Could you please try converting any other PDF file with same fonts and then check.
It might also happen due to use of some poor fonts which result in garbled text.
    Is the PDF scanned?
    Let me know.

Powerbooks have heat sensors that control the fan. The fan can run and not be heard unless the speed increases. If the powerbook thinks it's getting to hot it can start going into a shutdown mode.Thats a safety feature. Now if the sensor is reading heat wrong you might need to  reset you PMU- power management control. since I don't know what model powerbook you have, I need to refer you to the apple article on it. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1431

  • PDF text garbled

    Hello,
I'm trying to find an answer as to why pdf files generated
from Freehand (via Adobe PDF printer driver) don't include text
    that can be copied/exported etc.
The text is visible, and can be selected normally in Acrobat
with the select text tool. However, cut-and-paste copied text into
any other program doesn't work -- the text is no longer normally
encoded "text" -- but (at least on Win XP Pro) garbled symbols,
    lines and returns.
I've tried both with True Type and Type 1 fonts, but same
    result.
Of course, then things like email addresses within text
aren't automatically hyperlinked either (as they are from Word,
Ilustrator, InDesign etc) -- hyperlinks all have to set that up
    manually in Acrobat.
In one way, this is kind of "cool" and makes the file
"encrypted" from copying by others without any security settings --
but is no good for PDF searching/indexing.
In the PDF font properties, all of the fonts get custome
encoded as an embedded subset, with "Gen_" (occasionally "Gen.") at
the start of the font name.
I've tried in Acrobat Print driver to both have "do not send
fonts to Adobe PDF" selected and unselected, but with same result.
Print Driver doesn't show any version number in its properties, I'm
guessing though it is okay as files from other programs don't have
    this problem.
OS: Win XP Pro SP2. FH MXa. Acrobat 7.0.8 Pro. I've tried
googling for results, but nothing specific comes up. Some
discussion on "Gen_" named fonts, but no fix.
This problem has been around for many years, but now is
something I'd prefer to resolve as many pdf files I'm creating are
ending up online and need to be indexed and searchable. I've been
using FH since v5.5, but cannot remember in earlier days if this
    was an issue!
I can post screenshots or example online if required.
    Any solutions most welcome.

I've made pdf files using Acrobat about from version 7 or 8
(?) As memory serves the Gen-font problem has always been there.
This has also caused problems in eps export.
There has probaly been some remotely sane reason for changing
encoding and renaming fonts on print. I just can't figure out what
it may be. At least it is hard to extract the fonts from the print
    file.
Hopefully Adobe will fix this as well as pdf export.

  • Video displays text garbled up.

As I scroll through the text of my Mail list, a message, or text file; the video displays a gargle mix of letters and to solve the issue; I have to slowly scroll the text out and back in so it will display correctly.  Is this a software or hardware problem.  I just got my computer a few days ago.  I am worried!!
    Thank you in advanced.

This same garbled text is happening in FINDER.  How do we fix this?  I am starting to feel like I am runing a PC

  • Email text garbled in received emails

After years with no issues, all of a sudden a number of emails I'm receiving have strange characters instead of readable text. It's always the same capital A inside a box. The same messages show up fine on my phone, and I can read them (mostly) if I choose to see the raw source. What's causing this, how do I fix it, and why is it happening now? I'm using OS X 10.9.2.

    Hi lexrudolf,
I understand you are using 10.9 Mavericks and in Mail you have seen several emails coming in with strange text. The following article does say Mountain Lion, but I would suggest following the same exact steps to get this resolved.

  • Printing a PDF from Adobe - Garbled Text

This might sound like a strange thing to do but I have tried this many times, hoping each time it would work. Basically I create a PDF file in Adobe 7.0 Pro. I insert all sorts of text, callouts, and other shapes. I don't want to send this file to my client because if they print without comments they get the wrong image. Additionally sometimes I might be hiding information which is on the previous PDF file and I don't want the client to see it.
So when I have the PDF file complete I try to print to a PDF so the comments become incorporated into the file. This works fine except that the text always shows up garbled. Any solutions out there on how to get the text not to garble?
I have read through other posts on this site and see that there are text garbling issues.
(My alternate solution is to use other programs to create the information then print to PDF for the client. this requires converting the PDF information to other types of files or some other type of file manipulation, which always looses quality.)

Acrobat 8 and 9 allow you to flatten the comments to make them part of the pdf. I don't recall if that is possible in 7. Try looking in the help file.

  • Weird garbled text...

    Hello All...
I have something very weird happening. On my iMac G5, I now get emails occasionally with the text garbled. Complete gibberish. It always happens now with text that is in italics, and sometimes with normal text. It always gets garbled from certain recipients. And I have also noted it once or twice happening in Safari on a web page. Which of course, leads me to think that it is not a Mail-specific problem.
Anyone out there have any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else??
    Thanks.
    Jim

Weird text might be due to a font problem. Check them out with Font Book, in your application folder. Use the Validate function. You might also have a preference problem, use Preferential Treatment to check that, and then repair permissions.
Let us know if any of this helps,

  • Garbled Characters in Print as .pdf

I am using Acrobat Pro, version 9.4.4  Windows 7, 64 bit
This issue has recently happened, before this everything was working perfectly...
When I go to print something, (say a web email) using the .pdf printer so I can save a copy to my desktop, the document is saved with much of the text garbled making the document unusable.  Is there a way to fix this?
I apologize in advance if this has been answered... I did a forum search and nothing turned up.
    Thanks for your help...

I followed some other instructions I found to set Adobe PDF preferencesI looked under start / settings / printers but cannot see Adobe PDF there. I'm not using my own PC so I can't load anything on it. Alternatively Is this something that can be done each time a PDF file needs to be printed?

  • Email sharing in iPhoto is garbled...

Is anyone else experiencing this in iPhoto '11??? I find a photo I want to share via email in iPhoto and when it opens the email the placeholders where I type the text, that text is all garbled-it is layered on top on each other. I know when I had 3 or more photos I was going to send via email, not only was the text garbled but the photos were all messed up. Hard to describe but they were a mess-sort of like with the text, on top of each other. I don't know what to do about it and would love to know what to do. Thanks for your help, Judy

Hi Larry-I am sorry it has taken me a long time to reply. I am using iPhotoLibraryManager and had it rebuild a new library for me but that didn't fix the issue either. But it was needed as some of my photos were corrupted. Got a new library but still the same garbled text when sharing via email. What did fix the issue was the latest update to iPhoto. It seems to be working ok now-just sent some friends 4 photos and it looked fine. So thank you for taking the time to reply to my question. Judy

  • Mega 180 garbled

About a week ago my 180 shut itself off. Ever since, on reboot the display is flickering and the text garbled. This happens at POST and in the BIOS, before Windows loads (I've removed the HDD now as I believe it is dead - this may be what caused the initial shutdown).
By garbled, I mean that many characters are incorrectly displayed. For example, the word "BIOS" displays as "BIOC"; the letter S always displays as C.
I have tried resetting the CMOS by removing the battery and flashing the BIOS in the hope of recovering it (not fun when the display is garbled). I still have the same problem.
    Help. Please.

I had to "borrow" some replacement PC2700 memory from my machine at work. This solves the problem
It seems that BOTH of the Corsair memory sticks are faulty - I've tried each of them individually, one gives the "garbled" problem and the other is dead (mobo just beeps away at me).
BTW the HDD is not completely broken - I've managed to install it as a slave in another machine to recover some files. Seems there's just something wrong in the Windows startup (MBR appears to be OK as the Mega starts to boot Windows (XP)).
I'll be paying close attention to the "Things to Know Before Building Your Mega 180" thread when purchasing new memory and putting everything back together. I plan to get a bigger HDD & TV Card and get my Mega hooked up to my TV. Something I was looking into when it died. Now I can look into it again with a big smile on my face
    Thanks Stu!

  • Notification Center open and will not close and......

My desktop that I installed Win 10 Tech Preview on one day had the Notification Center open down at the bottom right and when clicked on it show "otifications" no new notifications .... my antivirus Software McAfee LifeSafe no longer will work
and when I do a search for anything.. all the letters and words are either jumbled or missing letters as in the "otification" center.

Since Windows 10 Technical Preview is just a "beta" version, there are certain amount of compatibility issues when it comes to 3rd party programs.
Heck, we can't even play DVD in Windows Media Player, and Windows Media Player is a MS product.
Avast, as I understand it, is not compatible either.
Perhaps McAfee is facing the same issue. You might want to ask the people in McAfee support forum about the compatibility matter.
I have a laptop running Win 10 build 9860 as the only OS in the system.
I am using the build-in Windows Defender as "real time" protection, and Malwarebytes  (free edition) as "on demand" protection. So far, I have no security issue.
As to letters and text garbled or missing, you need update KB3008956
    installed.
Go to your Windows Update > click Check for updates >find and install that update.

  • Slew of bugs (similar to failed to download script thread)

This is a bug report listing all the problems I’ve encountered with Story and what I was doing when they occurred:
I logged into Adobe Story using the AIR application in online mode.
I attempted to open a script, which was originally imported from Movie Magic Screen Writer vs. 6 and had been edited several times in Story prior to this error with no problems. It has also been shared but only for review.
I received an error reporting that the script was unable to be downloaded.
I opened another script and worked on it with no errors.
I tried to open the original script again.
    It opened.
Upon first scrolling of the script I received an error that Adobe Story encountered a fatal error and would have to be shut down. (Sorry I did not keep the detailed report)
Upon restart I attempted to open the script again, in online mode.
Script opens but there is no text.
I set Adobe AIR to offline mode and open script.
Script opens with text, but formatting is screwy with seemingly random spaces removed. Reads like this:
A man uses abetaversion of a program. He expereinceserrors with the program.
This is consistent every time I open this particular script: in online mode nothing is there, in offline mode formatting is a mess.
I have one other script in Story and it doesn’t seem to have these issues, however, I was looking for where Story stores offline scripts on my computer for backup purposes due to the above error and was surprised to find no files in the “Adobe Story” folder under “Documents”. I also found no option to select a location to save files to in Story. For backup of critical work this is a required feature. I have to be able to control where my material is stored and do so locally so that if there are fatal errors like above I can recover from a known good locally saved file.
This concerned me so I attempted to export to Movie Magic Screen Writer. I was alarmed to find no export to SCW option after having imported from it (I think a claim of 3rd party interoperability is pretty absurd if Story can’t export to this popular program). I exported as .txt to try and preserve a backup of work done in Story. This .txt file opens using the Notepad application and is formatted correctly there, but fails to import properly into Movie Magic (no text in script at all).
I perform a select all and copy in Story of the script.
I perform a paste in Movie Magic.
Formatting of text is messy in Movie Magic similar to the above problem.
Upon immediate return to Story, formatting of this script is also messy and matches exactly the formatting in Movie Magic. Only a select all and copy have been performed on this script. This error is consistent and hapens every time. I have a duplicate copy of this script in its original form in Story. I did a Save AS to create a new script that I used for the above testing and resulting erorrs.
I hope that you can resolve these issues, but I will only be using the program for sharing capabilities until final release from now on, except to test solutions to this problem if you have them. While I understand this is a beta version, a bug this critical that renders the application useless without a clear means of recoverable locally stored backup ensure that the program is not worth using for editing at this stage.

    Update 2:
Thought I found work around, made the problem worse in the end but it still might be useful to some:
Placed AIR app in offline mode, told Story to “Lock Script”.
Opened script in offline mode, text garbled.
While still in the script (authoring or editing mode or whatever) placed AIR app into online mode.
Told Story not to unlock script when prompted.
After a quick load, script appears properly text is no longer garbled.
    Export as .txt file.
Export completes buts Story encounters fatal error and has to restart. Detailed report of error:
    <ErrorReport date="Thu, 22 Oct 2009 22:18:43 GMT">
      <session clientVersion="" userName="null" userID="null" sessionID="null" lastSentSequence="0"/>
      <documentMeta documentID="null" userRole="owner" documentVersion="0"/>
      <error message="RangeError: Error #2006">null</error>
      <command name="vu.editor.controllers.document::CmdSave" phase="commandEnd"/>
      <platform version="WIN 10,0,32,18" playerType="Desktop" os="Windows Vista" isDebugger="false"/>
      <trace></trace>
    </ErrorReport>
.txt file is good, backup successful for use in other programs, so I continue to try and force Story to work.
    Upon restart original errors persist.
Try above workaround this time saying “No” when prompted to lock scripts when going offline. Workaround is successful again.
Make a test edit of script in online mode.
Use standard “Save” command (not save as)
Close Script, try to reopen receive “Unable to download error”.
Attempt workaround and still receive error in offline mode.
    Close and reopen AIR app.
When I place AIR offline and say “Yes” to the lock script prompt I receive the “unable to download” error even though the mode is offline.
When I say “no” script opens with no text or outline and I am not able to type anything, it is all just grey.
Checked the browser app, still receive unable to download error.
That will be all the debugging I’m doing. I was able to recover good versions of both scripts edited in Story using these methods, so I post them for others who may need help. I will however now be going back to Screen Writer.
