Dark and darker
just noticed this prob.
what appears on the imovie screen (and in mpeg streemclip) is darker than what it will appear on a standard tv. it also appears darker than what apples dvd player shows. I use an "envision" pro series flat screen for the computer. I have a radion 7000 vid card. my home tv is a big flat-screen hidef.
this gives me a wrong depiction of what I will get on a tv so much so that I cannot really work with brightness/contrast properly.
never really noticed this before. what really is weird is that apples dvd player looks the same as the tv and the vid cam viewer. (sony trv250 digi).
any thoughts?
as usual when I have looked at mr. Slagles info it has been not so much helpful in its content but helpful in starting me thinking. his info seemed to be geared towards CRT monitors...not flat screens. I started with opening iM and pulling up the clip that I noticed the prob with. I just started to click through the supplied profiles and the "generic RGB" seemed to do the trick. now my desktop view is all washed out but all the movie playback is fine. (iM, MPGStreamclip, DVDplayer, even iPhoto looks more like it should..etc...).
conclusion... flat screens are very different than CRTs and need to be calibrated differently.
so I put up with a washed out "everything else" but get accurate view on all my movies and pix.
go figure :s
so long and thanx for the fish

I am using a Mac and when I save my files as a jpeg, the files become much smaller, and consequently darker and blurrier. What can I do to fix this? I have tried to figure out how to chat with someone at Adobe, but they certainly don't make it easy to do. At the moment, this program is useless to me. Very depressing....
Hello,
I would like to inform you that not all the browsers and online PDF readers support copying text from a PDF. If you have opened the PDF online, please download PDF file to your computer and then open the file in Adobe Reader.
Please share a screenshot if the issue still persists.

I bougnt my S5 a month ago and I am having two major issues. The screen is very slow to respond. When the screen is dark and I press the home button, it doesn't come on. I have to press the button anywhere from 4-10 times and then it usually flashes on and back off. It is very, very frustrating. The other issue is that the battery drains very quickly. I have called Verizon numerous times regarding these issues. They tell me to do different things that never help. We eventually did a factory reset and it still has the same issues. Help! It is a brand new phone and unfortunately I am in a new two year contract. Ugh. Is there anyone out there who can help me?
I have done that several times. In fact, every time I call Verizon with my phone problems, they have me do the same things repeatedly. I keep telling them I have already done them but they insist they are SURE it will work this time. It never does. After doing the factory reset and it still not working correctly, they act like they are confused, almost like I am lying. I did what you suggested above on the slim chance it would work this time but it did not. I bought two S5's that day and the other one works perfectly fine. I know I got a bad phone. Verizon just does not listen. It is a bad phone. I just want a new phone that works properly. Is that too much to ask? I bought a new phone that has been bad from day one. Why oh why do I have to spend hours of my time on the phone, in the store, on the computer, trying to rectify this? It shouldn't be this difficult! Help please!!!

Display alternates between dark and bright
I have several issues but I suspect somehow they are all related as they all began about the same time, within about an hour of each other, which was maybe a week ago.
Periodically, my display slowly cycles between dark and bright. Sometimes the display will suddenly go to sleep on it's own, usually after a period of about 20 seconds of me not doing something and when I wake it up the display is quite dim. Other times the computer goes to sleep (not just the display) requiring me to log back on. I use password for startup. I open the display settings after log-on and the brightness slider has somehow moved way over to the dark end (left). I slide it up to where I like it and soon it does it again all by itself again after a very short period of inactivity. I have noticed that if I leave the brightness control alone (dim) without readjusting it it seems to take longer for the other issues to develop. I would normally place the brightness slider just under half way up. My sleep time settings are currently: computer - 1 hr, display 15 min. That is plugged in which is pretty much the only way I ever seem to use it ... plugged in.
Another issue is an occaisional rapid beeping. It's the same low beep that you hear when you try to do something stupid and the computer is telling you you've made an error. The difference is this is a long, unending string of rapid beeps; I'd estimate maybe 15 - 20 beeps per second. The sound does not stop. I have to mute the speakers to shut it up. I have not yet been able to determine a recognizable pattern of common variables for when this happens. The other day when the computer went to sleep by itself and I woke it and tried to input my password and I saw that the input bar was filled with black balls as if it was remembering my password which I did not like but when I hit enter the logon dilaog box shook, the entry field emptied and refilled on it's own. I held the backspace key for several seconds and nothing seemed to happen. I used shift/command/arrow to highlight the entire string and deleted it but as soon as the characters were deleted I saw the input line quickly fill back up again one ball at a time at roughly the same rate as the beeps. Then it occured to me that the beeps were similar to those you would hear if you held a key down and filled an entire entry field with a hundred of a particular character and was still holding down the key long after the field was full. My first thought was that a key was stuck down. Not so. Each and every key is free to move and functions normally.
Last night I closed the lid to put the computer to put it sleep before I went to bed. About 3 hours later I was awakened by the sound of the rapid beeping. I got out of bed and went to the computer and opened the lid to find the same input line black balls issue but this time it was accompanied by the beeping and the display was also cycling between bright and dim. As it was the middle of the night I killed the machine by holding down the power button and forcing a shutdown. This evening I decided to do the upgrade from 10.9.1 to 10.9.2 hoping that might help but it did not. I have not heard the beeping since the upgrade but the display is still cycling, which was the first thing I noticed when all of this began.Turns out it may have been sofware issue. I suspected software anyway because rebooting could temporarily cure it. I spoke to an Apple Service and Support person on the phone. She went through a fairly lengthy process with me to evaluate the machine and determine if it was hardware or software related. The results of those steps did not lead her to any concrete conclusions but she was able to hear the beeping issue happening in real time. She guided me through the steps of O/S recovery and now several hours later the machine appears to be functioning as it is supposed to. Typically the issue(s) would show up after maybe twenty minutes or a half hour after a hard boot. I am to monitor the thing for the next week or so watching for any signs of the issues slowly returning.
Here's keeping my fingers crossed. -

Help--why has MacBook screen gone dark and how do I get it back?
I have a MacBook (model 4,1 running OS 6.8). I use the MacBook as my desktop computer in conjunction with a separate desktop monitor. Today, when I unplugged a USB hub from one of the ports (after carefully ejecting anything on the desktop that needed to be ejected before unplugging), the screen on the MacBook--not the separate monitor--suddenly went dark. I thought it had gone to sleep or into screensaver mode, but noticed that the white light on the MacBook also wasn't showing.
The separate monitor display (on which I'm typing this message) seems fine. I checked DIsplays/Arrangement in System Preferences, but both displays were detected in their usual arrangement, though I did notice that the working display has a white bar across the top but the MacBook display doesn't have one. I clicked "Detect Displays," but that didn't change anything.
I then did a restart, and things seemed to go as usual: the shutdown went okay and on restart, the white light went on on the MacBook and the monitor screen lit up normally. However, the MacBook's screen is still dark and the white light is off.
Can anyone tell me why this happened and how to get my MacBook screen back? I don't know whether unplugging the hub caused the problem or whether it was just a coincidence that something that runs the MacBook display happened to fail right then. Would appreciate any help out there very much--thanks!
PS: Just tried shutting down and powering on again with the separate monitor unplugged, but the MacBook screen still stays black and the white light shuts off as soon as the desktop loads. When I plugged the separate monitor back in, it worked fine. So the problem doesn't seem to be a conflict with the separate monitor (which I've used for years).
Message was edited by: TurtlewizUpdate: I went away for an hour, and when I came back I saw that the white light had gone on as usual when the MacBook went to sleep. When I touched the keyboard, both displays went on; however, the MacBook display went dark immediately and the white light is still out.

Why is my iPod Touch 4G screen flickering light and dark?
my iPod Touch 4G screen flickering light and dark all the time?!?! I also have this problem where at the VERY bottom of the screen, Theres this white bar that keeps flickering on and off!! PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!
The screens are practically the same.
Did you purchase your iPod Touch second hand or direclty from the Apple Store? I would recommend that you go back to the Apple Store and show them both devices in action so that they can advise you closely. -
After upgrading to Mavericks on my MacBook, I'm not able to download third party applications like Dropbox and MyCleanMac 2. After clicking the download button, the screen just turns dark and is frozen. Any idea what is happening?
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Hi,
Here's the problem. I am having digital portrait photos printed at 20" by 26" in. for wall displays on an HP Z6100 designjet using universal adhesive vinyl. The test prints came back dark and with strongly pronounced magenta and red in the skin tones. I have a few questions that I hope you can help me with:
1. Is universal vinyl really the best print medium for this or would some photographic paper like luster or matte yield better results?
2. I am not in control of the printing process itself, but would providing the ICC profile for the printer/paper combination make a difference in correcting this issue?
3. The images are jpegs and the color space is sRGB. Should I convert them to CMYK for better results?
4. Any other suggestions please.
Thanks for any help.
Troy-BHello Troy-B
The product you have is a commercial printer. I suggest posting in the HP Business Support forum for a better chance at finding a solution.
You may find the Commercial Designjet board here.

My MacBook Pro on start-up with just go dark and shut down. It makes a clicking or popping sound but there is no chime or other typical Mac sound. I can push the power button again and it will generally power up. It is becoming more frequent with time.
i recently had it in the Apple Store for repair... some cola was spilled on the keyboard. They replaced the keyboard and through a series of circumstances replaced the logic board, case, and superdrive.
About a week or two afterward it started the odd start-up failure. At first only once every few days. Now almost daily. It concerns me. I relay on this old Mac for work and even thought I use TimeMachine, it would be quite a hassle to have to replace it.
Anyone have any idea what's going on?Try these first:

so I've been using my ipod touch for three months already. Then I noticed that the more I use my camera, which is not very often, I only use it to snapshot wonderful events in my life, the more "crashing" becomes often in my ipod. There are several times that I will repeatedly click my camera button just to open it as it keeps on crashing. my software is up to date, iOS 6.1.3 and I thought that updating it and restarting it will do the trick. Also, the panorama feature of my camera is kind of defective, It's very dark and the images keep in getting ragged on edges. Like it's been cut with sheers or any sharp material. What can I do about this? Is there any way for me to get this fixed?
Is the camera damaged? Could be a hardware problem.
Try:
Close the Camera app in the multitasking bar, then try again.
Restart/Reset/Restore your iPod. In that order. -
Lightroom 4, photos are dark when in slideshow mode. Therefore, cannot create a slideshow. Cannot move photos from grid to add to another collection. Also cannot change sequence of photos. Have searched multiple times for troubleshooting help online with no resolution available.
Just to clarify my problem with the "dark photos"....when in slideshow mode, photos are dark and state "no photo selected" I've created multiple slideshows and this was never an issue. Just downloaded updates as well for Lightroom 4 and this didn't seem to help either.
