Dark background in grid view

Did the dark background in grid view go away with iTunes 11?

Yes, unfortionatly. You can submit feedback to Apple letting them know that you miss this feature here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

  • Any way to get rid of the awful white background in grid view?

The old dark background was infinitely easier on the eyes, and more attractive. When I look at stuff in grid view now it gives me a headache. Any chance of changing this back via terminal or something?

I would also like to know how to get rid of ugly *** white background. It ****** me off every time I have to look at it. There is nothing that I see here as being an improvement over the last itunes.

  • Dark bars around songs in Grid View with Dark Background

Hi, with the new update that added the option for the dark background in Grid View does anyone else notice dark bars around each song?

    sidssp:
If you were able to get this new option in preferences to show up by removing your com.apple.iTunes.plist from ~/Library/Preferences, and you still have a copy of that file (maybe in your Time Machine backup on on your desktop), please email it to me <[email protected]>. Please include a link to this thread in your email and make the subject line be "Preference not showing up in 9.0.2".
    Thanks,

  • Light Gray Borders in Dark Grid View

With iTunes 9.0.2, I was able to switch to the "Dark" option of Grid View and it worked fine. However, I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and for some reason, the Dark Grid View option now shows light gray borders around the album art/video preview. When I click into the album art to show the listing of songs/videos, the view changes to the "Light" option. I've tried to delete all the iTunes preference files but it doesn't solve the problem. Here's what it looks like:

And when clicking on the video podcast link:

Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

If you have to reset your iTunes preferences, go into User/Library/Preferences. Search for "com.apple.iTunes" and move the following three files to your desktop:
    com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist
    com.apple.iTunes.plist
    com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist
Once you have the files to your desktop, restart your computer and iTunes should be back in working order!

  • ITunes 9 Grid View dissapointment

First of all white background of grid view is awful, it looks cheap!
Dark background in 8.x versions looked much more elegant.
We can not adjust the size of icons anymore...
    Dissapointment....

*Found the fix!* (Be sure though to still contact Apple about your displeasure.)
Go here to this kind soul from Deviant Art who has the hack files to return the background to dark charcoal black again!

  • How do I change the the artwork size in grid view?

How do I change the the artwork size in grid view?  I see that if you select view > view options when in artists it will give you a slider to adjust artwork size (although not by much) but there is no option to do this in Movies or TV shows... why couldn't they just keep the universal slider at the top of the page like before!?  I know they want it to look more like the iOS itunes but this isn't an iPad!!!  I have the screen space!!
Also why is it that EVERY time they release a new iTunes they get rid of the grey background for grid view? :@

    Hello,
My understanding is that Firefox uses the global printer settings. I am not familiar with the Windows 8 interface, but can you change the printer settings in its Devices and Printers and see if it changes the default for Firefox as well?

  • ITunes 9 grid view background color?

It seems iTunes 9 has changed the background color of grid view from black to white. How can I change it back? I can't find anything in preferences or the iTunes help manual. Thank you for the help

*Thank you Apple* for bringing the *Dark Grid View Background* back!
I'm all for change if it improves things. But I'm not sure the latest iTunes look change is all for the better.
The dark Grid View background was just one thing.
The new iTunes store look doesn't do it for me either. It's just a sea of icons on white background. Everything drowns in a blur of color specks...

  • Grid view white background - ugh!

Just upgraded (?) to iTunes 9 - apart from hating the new vertical column browser (which I've worked out how to put back to the original "on top" style) - the grid view now has this disgusting white background! What was wrong with the old black one? Does anyone know if there is a way to change the background colour, like you would, say, in Finder or iPhoto>

  • ITunes 11 how can the window background colour be changed from white to black in Grid View?

How do I change the window background colour ,in Grid View, from the new, default, white back to the good old, more easy on the eye, black?
Apple did this to us in iPhoto some time ago and had to add a preference for shades of grey other than white. Why didn't Apple learn from this mistake?

It is good to know I am not alone. The first thing I did after downloading iTunes 11 was go into preferences to change the background color. But alas, the option for a dark background is gone. I also was kind of disappointed in the lack of ability to resize the artwork, but not to the extent of some other commenters here.
I will say this though. I love the way the albums expand with custom colored backgrounds based on each album's artwork colors. This looks fantastic. Still it would be nice to accomodate those who prefer to use a dark background for the overall application's theme.
So, Apple, I join with my fellow users in requesting the return of resizable artwork, and the option for at least a dark (or an even further customizable) background color for the overall theme of the application. Thanks!

  • Dark borders around album art in grid view

    Hi everybody,
since last week my iTunes is displaying strange dark borders around album cover art and iPhone apps icons in grid view (see http://j.imagehost.org/0154/1_21.jpg). I am using the dark background theme. I already tried restarting iTunes and the computer several times and deleting the iTune album artwork cache.
Does anybody have an idea what else I could try to remove these ugly borders?
    Thanks in advance
    Jens

I have the same issue here.
If i change my display profile in the system preferences to the default, they disappear.
But that can’t be the solution.
    Has anybody a clue?

  • How do I change background shade of grid-view in iTunes 11?

I've just downloaded and installed iTunes 11 and can't seem to find a way to alter the background colour of grid view. It's bright white or bright white! No options to tone it down to grey or black. Help!

Looks like they removed that option
I was a little worried they would actually, I have no idea why they sometimes remove cool features on updates.
Keep your eye out, someone will probably find a way to hack it back to grey.

The dark bar is caused by the option "Show metadata below image".
Check the settings for the metadata overlays in Grid view (basic and expanded) by clicking the little "badge" icon below the Browser and selecting "Edit". Is the filename still enabled in the list? And in a high enough position to have precedence for other metadata tags, if the space does not suffice to show all selected tags?

The only files you should need are the Dock application as well as the Dock's preferences. These should be in your Library folder. Before replacing the dock application, try removing the "com.apple.Dock.plist" file from your library's preferences folder. Then restart the dock (logout and log back in) and hope that clears everything. If not, and it's some aspect of the program that's been messed up, then replacing it directly should fix the problem. Do you have a TM backup? You should be able to get it from there with no problem, but if not then getting it from another Mac could also work.

  • Grid view black background

    Hi All,
Anyone found the Grid View Dark/Light switch?
I think iTunes 11 is just a leap backwards instead of forward...
No Cover Flow, a lot less tweaking to suit it to your needs...
I did not upgrade my Macbook and I will not for now; just my MacPro and I'm dissapointed...
    cheers
    Gert J. Willems

I've been wondering this myself.  The new iTunes is almost impossible to use in dark mode, since they didn't add the UI to support it.  There used to be a Terminal coding solution but I can't find it anywhere anymore.

  • Design View: Toggle on/off background pixel grid (with axis value markers) for assistance in creating parallax scrolling experiences

Maybe I haven't used the tool enough to be comfortable, but...
Adding a toggle for a background pixel grid with x and y axis pixel values to assist in determining key positions during preview might be a good feature. As I become more comfortable with the Muse product, I find myself wanting to add a background pixel graphic (temporarily) so when I preview the comp, I can identify exact pixel positions.

    Alyssa,
Have you tried putting this rule back as it was originally:
/* Submenu that is showing with class designation MenuBarSubmenuVisible, we set left to auto so it comes onto the screen below its parent menu item */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul.MenuBarSubmenuVisible
        left: auto; /*was 9px*/
        color: #EF9CCF;
        background-color: #FFF;
That is, changing your 9px back to auto.
And giving  us a link (as you did) is much better than printing out the code for us! Thanks!
    Beth
