Dark Plug-in UI Question

Would you prefer Adobe to make its filter / plug-in windows dark to match the main user interface?
I have had some requests to make my commercial plug-ins have a dark UI, and I'm about to release new versions that have exactly that, but as it's mostly astronomers asking me, I'm curious about how many folks using Photoshop for general photography and image processing work find the visual transition from the normal dark Photoshop UI to a plug-in with a light surround jarring - as in this example using Smart Sharpen...
In short, do you crave a dark plug-in UI to go with the dark Photoshop UI?
Corrollary question:  If you use one of Photoshop's lighter UI choices, would you like the plug-ins to match it?
-Noel

Well, I'm not in the "bright UI only" club any more.  The work is already done.
I'm just curious how much the latent demand is for it in my non-astronomy plug-ins.  Apparently, based on this thread so far, there's not THAT much interest.

  • Skillbuilders Plug In-Schedule Question?

    Hi,
    I have a question regarding the Schedule Plug In. It is a good demo. But I have no clue how to write the SQL to extract the data of Start Date, End date, Duration Seconds and Calendar Summary (From API function). I have tried to use action - compute but the field of schedule concatenate together.
    Schedule: 201303150900|201303151100|7200|FREQ=DAILY;INTERVAL=1;
    The demo suggests us to use that SQL statement but it does not work?
    SELECT NVL(evts.title,'No Title Specified') AS display,
    dts.column_value
    FROM events evts,
    TABLE(sbip_schedule.dates(schedule)) dts
    WHERE evts.id = :P1_EVENT_ID
    Do you have any clue?
    Thanks!

    The point is I do not know what are the specific field names inside the API Plug in schedule? Any idea?

  • ITunes plug-in removal question

    How do I remove a plugin of an old visualizer? I keep getting a window saying, "Unable to locate the <> plugin. Repair permissions and retry" Help please!

    Do you know the name of the plugin. You might have a preference file left over. If you know the name, you could look in Home Folder(~)/Library/Preferences
    If your Library is hidden, Finder Menubar/click & hold the Option key/Go/Select Library
    You can also check for the plug-in which most likely not be there, but you might as well check.

  • I have a PC, Windows 7 x64. I installed a plug-in in Elements 13. I tried to installed another plug-in. It replaced the first plug-in . Can't I have more than one plug-in at a time??? If so, how?

    I have a PC with Windows 7 x64. I have Elements 13. I installed a plug-in (Topaz) which appeared under the Filter Menu.
    Then I tried to install my new Canon Printer software plug-in which put it under FILE > AUTOMATION TOOLS. However, when I tried to use TOPAZ under the FILTER MENU it was gone. In other words, the Canon printer plug-in replaced my Topaz plug-in. When I reinstalled the Topaz plug-in, it replaced the Canon Printer Plug-in.
    QUESTION: Can't I have more than one plug-in installed in Photoshop Elements 13 at a time? So that the Canon printer plug-in is in AUTOMATION TOOLS, and the Topaz plug-in is under the FILTER menu?

    Have a look at this thread.

    I am glad I could help.  I hope you do not have too many of these to print - while the strips are reusable it could get a bit tiring if there are many to print .

  • PLUG-INs & Data source Enhancements

    Hi All BW Gurus,
         I have been asked in a recent interview,
    1."What is the PLUG-IN for LO'S Extraction?" and some PLUG-IN related questions.
    2. "How do you enhance Data Sources in BW?".
         Can you please make clear these two topics? Can you please try to send related documents to my mail-id [email protected],
    Thank you very much,
          with good wishes,

    Hi Damoder,
    The SAP enhancement concept allows you to make enhancements to the standard in the BW system. Within the SAP BW system, function exits and BAdIs enable these enhancements to be made.

  • How to solve the middle dark line when I use officejet all in one the copy function?

    The printer function is good, but only has problem in copy functioln.  How to clear the middle dark line?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hello tseng0719,
    I think it would be useful to have some more information in this case. For example:
    Which printer do you have? Do this happen when you copy from the flatbed or from the adf? Do this also happen when you scan a picture?
    A quick tip would be to clean the scanner glass as it migh very well be that it's just down to dirt on the glass (especially if this happens when you scan via the adf).

  • InDesign CS5 Not Recognizing Plug-Ins

    After installing CS5, when I launch InDesign I get a string of error messages such as this:
    "Adobe InDesign does not recognize InCopyImport.InDesignPlugin as a valid plug-in. Please reinstall the InCopyImport.InDesignPlugin plug-in and restart InDesign."
    To my knowledge, I've never installed a plug-in in the first place and I don't know where to start to reinstall the plug-ins in question. Why is this happening?

    Err, he tried that before posting, in post #13.
    I've tried a full uninstall and the creative Suite cleaner tool and then\
    re-installing and the same thing happens
    Tom, I wanted to compare the Get Info output you had to my Mac
    but I haven't had a chance to sit down in front of Mac interactively
    to look.
    But it seems to me pretty likely your plugin is corrupted.
    So here are some cryptic things to check. Open Terminal.app and paste in:
    cd "/Applications/Adobe InDesign CS5"
    find . -path \*InCopyExport\* -ls
    find . -path \*InCopyExport\* -type f | xargs md5
    The first sets the working directory to InCopy.
    The second prints out the permissions and sizes of all paths with InCopyExport in the name (surprisingly many).
    The third prints out the cryptographic checksum of all files (not directory) with InCopyExport in the name.
    Output should look like this, but you might as well paste in the whole results (use >> Syntax Hlighting >> Plain in the web interface so the line endings don't get messed up):
    $ find . -path \*InCopyExport\* -ls

  • Reminder: Ask the Experts Session on Java Plug-In Technology (Feb 12-16)

    This is a reminder that three key members of the Java SE Deployment Team at Sun will be on hand from February 12-16 to answer your Java Plug-In Technology questions. Submit your questions next week on the Ask the Experts page (http://java.sun.com/developer/community/askxprt/).

    Java Plug-in technology, included as part of the Java
    Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (Java SE),
    establishes a connection between popular browsers and
    the Java platform. This connection enables applets on
    Web sites to be run within a browser on the desktop.
    Got a question about Java Plug-in technology? Submit
    your questions from February 12 through February 16
    and get answers from key members of the Java SE
    Deployment Team.It's just two days since i read an article on developers who write Java Plug-in's for browsers.I just can't remember where!

  • Can CS5 plug-ins, presets, panels be moved to CS6?

    I upgraded from Photoshop CS5 to CS6, but some of CS5 Plug-ins, Panels and Presets remain that I'd like to use. Can I move them to CS6?

    Hello!
    If you saved the presets in the default location, you can move them using the migration script.
    You will find all the info in this FAQ: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4287533#4287533
    For the plug-ins, the question is more tricky: not knowing if you were using mac or pc, if they were of the 32 or 64 bits kind...
    Here is a FAQ on moving plug-ins in CS6: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/965931?tstart=0
    In general, simple, free plug-ins should be installed in a folder you create, either somewhere under the default plug-ins folder, or anywere in your hard drive, and then you point to it in preferences>plug-ins
    More complicated plug-ins, and most commercial plug-ins should be reinstalled for your new version of Photoshop. It is a good idea to check for updated versions.
    If you run into issues with plug-ins, do check this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-plug-ins-photoshop-cs4.html#main_Pho toshop_CS5_Optional_Plugins
    For the panels, did you get their updated version for CS6? and did you install the new adobe exchange panel. https://www.adobeexchange.com/ to browse, discover, install and rate many new ones?

  • Why does my iPod go from fully charged to charging while plugged in?

    Ok I reseted the setting it's still is draining when not plugged in :( my question is why is it going
    From fully charged to charging while its plugged in? Am I not
    Suppose to use it while its charging? I wish apple would hurry fix this by upgrading
    The 6.1.3 to 7 for iPod g 4. Is anyone else having a battery problem?

    The iPod always runs off the battery, not from outside power.  So if you are using your iPod, you are draining the battery.  If your iPod is connected to a charging source at the same time you are using it, after the battery has drained a bit from usage, the iPod will start charging the battery. This is perfectly normal.

  • Minor ThinkPad issues and some questions

    What I'm using
    IBM ThinkPad R40
    Pentium-M 1.4Ghz (Banias)
    Mobility Radeon 7500 with 32MB RAM
    512MB RAM
    Hitachi DVD-ROM/CD-burner combo
    PCMICA Gigabit Ethernet card using Realtek r8139 chip (as the onboard one is broke)
    Hitachi 40GB 4200rpm HDD
    I don't use wireless.
    How's Arch installed? (details)
    I've used the "base" install CD of the recently released 2007.05 "Duke". I basically took all the default suggestions in regards to partitions (as I'm testing an install process that works best on this ThinkPad).
    For the power saving bits:
    I installed acpid, powernowd, and powersave.
    As well, from the "unsupported" AUR: kpowersave (0.7.x one) and kima.
    For the kernel, its the default one but recompiled with resume as one of the HOOKS. Other than that, no other changes were made.
    In /etc/rc.conf,
    for the MODULES section, I've added: speedstep_centrino and ibm_acpi
    for the DAEMONS section, I've added: acpid, powernowd, and powersaved
    In /etc/rc.local,
    I added: echo enable,0xffff >/proc/acpi/ibm/hotkey
    In /etc/modprobe.conf,
    I added: options ibm_acpi experimental=1
    For some reason the swap partition was never activated, so this is necessary: mkswap /dev/sda2
    (Is that a bug in the 2007.05 release?)
    For Suspend-to-Disk to work, I had to add the following in /boot/grub/menu.lst
    On the line that starts with kernel, I added: resume=/dev/sda2
    I got everything I needed to work.
    (Everything that mattered to me)
    This includes the ThinkPad Fn+keys (F3, F4, and F12), and the two grey keys for Forward and Back in KDE and Firefox. (ThinkPad owners will know these F19 and F20 key through xmodmap). Suspend-to-RAM and Suspend-to-Disk works. Dynamic CPU throttling works. Manually setting the CPU speed works as well (via kpowersave). Through kima KDE applet, I can view CPU speed, uptime and temp on the taskbar.
    What's the problem? (and questions)
    But not everything is perfect...
    (1) When I do Suspend-to-Disk OR when I shutdown the system, the hard disk does NOT shutdown properly (like it was in Windows or my old install of Arch Linux). Instead of a normal cricket sound of the HDD head parking, I get the same sound as if I pushed the power button (no battery installed) while its on. A high-pitched shutdown.
    This results in Arch booting up occasionally with a message about HDD not properly shutting down and needing to force a check. This is obviously bad from a data integrity and HDD perspective.
    Has anyone else experienced this? How did you resolve this issue?
    (2) Once I finished testing Suspend-to-RAM, I check dmesg. I get some lines referring to a problem with the USB ports:
    hub 1-0:1.0: over-current change on Port 3
    (happens on Port 1 and 4 as well).
    Anybody have an idea what its complaining about? Should I ignore it?
    (I don't have any USB devices plugged in)
    Other questions?
    (3) I previous installed Arch Linux 0.72 with hibernate-script and the kernel26beyond kernel without the two issues as noted previously. Since the "Beyond" kernel is no longer being maintained, Is it OK to use the recently released default kernel with hibernate-script? Will it work?
    (4) If I use the hibernate-script approach to Suspend-to-RAM and Suspend-to-Disk, what applet or app does on use in KDE to allow you to set the desired speed or power scheme? (I like how kpowersave does things, but that reads off powersave)
    As you can see, I almost have my Thinkpad working the way I want it with Arch Linux. There's just a few niggles that need to be resolved. I hope you can help. Thanks in advance.

    Well, I tried both approaches: Kernel with Suspend2 and the regular Kernel (2.6.21.3-1)
    Both suffer the same HDD issue, but under slightly different scenarios.
    They both will get the problem when you suspend to disk (call it STD from now on). But if you enable "RediSafe-like" function on the Suspend2 side, the HDD problem doesn't occur. It shuts down perfectly. However, when I resume back from STD, I lose all IBM button functionality. When I go to shutdown, the HDD problem appears.
    With the regular Kernel, the HDD shutdown issue happens regardless if I STD or shutdown the system.
    Either way, I'll disable STD use for now. At least until Arch's regular kernel and Suspend2 one moves to 2.6.22 Kernel. So it IS a Kernel related issue.
    Here's how I did the Fn keys for my ThinkPad R40 (Pentium-M 1.4Ghz with Mobility Radeon 7500)
    In /etc/acpi/events, I created the following files with their respective contents using Suspend2 for STD.
    Please note: I don't have wireless on this notebook, that's why you won't see a Fn-F5 one.
    Fn-F3  (Turn off and on display backlight. or Blank screen)
    event=ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001003
    action=/etc/acpi/events/backlight.sh
    backlight.sh (You will need radeontool from the AUR. Be sure to make this executable. ie: chmod +x backlight.sh)
    #!/bin/bash
    if [ -e /tmp/backlightoff ]
    then
            radeontool light on
            rm /tmp/backlightoff
    else
            radeontool light off
            touch /tmp/backlightoff
    fi
    Press Fn-F3 to blank screen. Press Fn-F3 again to get out of it.
    Fn-F4 (Suspend to RAM)
    event=ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001004
    action=echo -n mem >/sys/power/state
    Fn-F7 (Switches between VGA and your notebook's display. I haven't tested this, but its what I got form the ibm_acpi README!)
    event=ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001007
    action=echo video_switch > /proc/acpi/ibm/video
    Fn-F12 (Need sudo and add your user into the wheel as well as an entry into /etc/sudoers.)
    event=ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 0000100c
    action=sudo hibernate
    lid (Causes same function as Fn-F4. That is, Suspend to RAM)
    event=button/lid
    action=echo -n mem >/sys/power/state
    As mention the problem with the above, is once I resume from STD with Suspend2 Kernel, I lose their functionality.
    Maybe I should be changing handler.sh in /etc/acpi instead of adding stuff to events?

  • Firefox Check Your Plugins found "unknown plug-ins". My other plug-ins are up to date. To keep Firefox running safely and smoothly can the "unknowns" be safely uninstalled? How do I know if I need them? Where do they come from?

    option discovered in preferences. Really this and any feature that moves deletes or edits a users data should as far as possible be OFF BY DEFAULT. It shouldn't by default and without the users specific say do this dangerous and unnecessary thing without even letting the user know what it's doing!!! And then cause me a few hours (as i'm new to mac) searching for the option so as to switch it off. If i hadn't noticed the status cage declaring that it was copying files then i might never have twigged that this insane thing was occurring. And if i hadn't of noticed i would have been left maintaining the contents of the folder i copied the files to, the folder which as far as i was informed and so believed was also the location of the music files i was playing. How does Apple justify this 'genius' piece of software non-design? Surely it will hurt no one if this was off by default for new users - overall at least i dare say it would cause a lot less distress in the future for the unsuspecting public at large. Thanks for the support.
