Dark smudges on the screen that won't go away?

I was wondering if anyone had any solutions for getting rid of dark smudges on the screen that seem to be internal in nature.  I have an early 2008 black Macbook.  The spots are kind of annoying so I was looking for a solution.  Is this something fixable?

  • When I touch the email icon there is a draft email stuck on the screen that won't go away if I delete or save it.  I've already tried deleting and resetting the email account which didn't work.  How do I get rid of it?

I have the new iPad 3 and every time I touch the email icon there is a draft message stuck on the screen that won't disappear even if I touch save or delete.  I've tried removing the email account and putting it back on which didn't work either.  How do I get this draft to disappear?

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Or Quit the mail app.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button.
Go back to mail and see if it is fixed.

  • What do I do if my ipod classic has lines at the top righthand corner of the screen that won't go away?

I am not sure when this issue started, but my iPod Classic has lines at the top righthand corner of the screen.  They show up on every screen now.  The iPod is working, but I don't know if this is a sign of bad things to come.  I have dropped the iPod a few times, but not regularly.  I also wasn't sure if this means that it is time to update my iTunes software.  I am going to try updating the software tonight to see if that fixes the problem.  I have tried resetting the iPod, but it doesn't make the lines go away.  I am just curious to see if anyone else has had this issue.  I have attached pictures because it is probably hard to diagnose my issue without seeing it.

It is not a software issue, since you have reset it and update the firmware.
LCD screen do konk out due to high temperature, or when the pixels are static and burn the screen, like the 2 lines, that's the reason we have screen savers or the screen power down, when not in used. Some users do have screen ON all the time when connecting to iPod Docking stations.
Other defects are due to poor SMT, when the display chip is mounted on the iPod motherboard., normally a band of vertical or horizontal white lines across the screen, these appear within 1 year, and Apple do replace the whole iPod.
You can get LCD screen replaced at Apple, if it is still under warranty or get a 3rd party vendor near your area if you want it done cheaper.
    Have a nice day.

I just got the new Macbook Pro with Retina Display about a month ago and now on the screen there are streaks all over the screen that won't go away. I have tried using water, glass cleaner, and glasses cleaner wipes but it won't come off. Is this some type of defect or is there some other way to clean it?

  • HT1529 I have a screen that won't go away, how can I get it off my desk top

    Hi,
I have a box that stays on my computer. It has four boxes on the left top that are general, accounts, viewing, audio/video and the main heading at the top is Accounts. There is nothing in the box that is clear enough to read and the box also says Location..US in the left lower bottom with cancel and save in the rt. lower corner. When I click on cancel I get a pop up screen that has the text icon that says Alert (null) with cancel and ok in the rt lower corner. When I hit cancel it takes that little box off and then the save button flashes. I can not hit any of the red, yellow, or green buttons to get rid of the screen they are blanked out. It's driving me crazy!! please help me get rid of it.
    thanks,
    goldies57

Type command + option + esc (all three keys together).
You will see a new pane called Force Quit Applications. In that pane select, one at a time, anything you do not recognize, and click Force Quit.
    Finally, select Finder and Relaunch.

  • How to get rid of full screens that won't go away.

I was using my MacBook Pro with my tv through HDMI. I made a window full screen on my tv ( I was using Blender 3D software and the window on the tv was the same application I had on my screen). When I unplugged the HDMI the full screen window on my tv went onto my MacBook. The problem is that the window from the tv is now full screen on my computer, and there are no options in the tool bar to minimize it. When ever I open this file that window pops up along with the window that was on my screen. It creates lag and I need to get rid of it. I need this file. Please help!

There are 3 ways to exit a fullscreen app:
    Escape key
    Command+Control+F
Hover the cursor at the top of the screen until the menu bar drops down then clcik the Arrow icon on the top right.
Have you tried plugging it back into the TV?

  • MacBook Turns on an has a loadinq screen that won't go Away

When I turn my MacBook on, theres a white screen with the Apple Logo an a spin cycle beneath to indicate its probably loading something but it doesn't ever finish ! I even left it on overnight to see if it would be done in the morning but it wasn't .
Any suggestions on what i can possibly do to fix this issue ?

Mine started doing this yesterday after attempting to install the most recent security update (im running Tiger OS 10.4.)
Took a while for me to remedy it but I found that by starting up from the CD that comes with the macbook (by holding 'c' as you switch on) and doing an Archive and Install (took 2 attempts as the first failed) it is working fine again. Installed the update by dragging it from the trash and clicking it and the Macbook seems good again.

  • The file that won't go away

    newsfile.doc?
I was surfing the net the other day looking for oictures of a giant star when i clicked on an image and the site that hosted it downloaded a file to my mac. whenever i try to empty the trash to get rid of it a warning pops up. so i click stop and go back to the trash to empty it again and the same popup comes up again saying that is is running and cannot be removed.!!! Any solutions guys?

Rebooting your Mac should stop the file 'being in use' and therefore deleteable.
You can also try a Secure Delete from the Finder menu.

  • The app that won't go away-

Christian SpeedDate. That's the app that I installed at one time. I have since decided to take it off my iPhone, but iTunes wants to keep updating it anyway. Fine, doesn't matter to me, I don't plan on reinstalling it to my iPhone anytime soon, but maybe it'll be up to day when/if I decide to.
Only one problem: The app doesn't update. It gives the status "stopped (err = 8012)" in the Downloads section and I get a popup error message regarding it anytime I do something in iTunes:
+*There was a problem downloading the artwork for "Christian SpeedDate - Date Local Singles!"*. Please try again by choosing "Check for Available Downloads" from the Store menu.+
This is exceedingly annoying and I have no idea how to stop it. I don't want the app anymore, I don't want it updated anymore, and the developer can't even get their act together enough to fix the artwork in the last several months. Please help me get rid of this annoyance.

So, the app is no longer in your itunes library & no longer available in the app store, correct? If that's the case, it looks like itunes is stuck in a loop trying to download an available update that doesn't exist. Contact itunes support, explain the situation & ask them to clear your account of all available downloads. As a user, you can't do that, but they can. Hopefully, this will fix the problem:

    Try the standard fixes:

button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup via iTunes

    - If still a problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How do you reactivate the grey utilities scroll up tab at the bottom of the screen that should reveal wifi, bluetooth etc? Doesn't matter what orientation the ipad is in, it won't scroll up from the bottom. All other screen functions work normally.

How do you reactivate the grey utilities scroll up tab at the bottom of the screen that should reveal wifi, bluetooth etc?
Doesn't matter what orientation the ipad is in, it won't scroll up from the bottom.
All other screen functions work normally.

Settings/Control Center. There are two options which are pretty self-explanitory...one enables/disables access on the Lock Screen and one enables/disables access within apps/games.
