I don't know, send it in. I was having the same problems, then when i filled out the service request form it said my warrenty was up even though it wasn't. So i had to send in my receipt for it and it took days for it to go through (I even phoned Apple twice and was put on hold for like half an hour). So now they are sending me a box to send it in, and guess what? My ipod mini is working totally normal now. I'm still going to send it in because now my warrenty is officially done, but still, all that and now its working normally? Stupid thing..

Okay, I'll say it: The MacBook is too darn hot.

While I dearly love this new MacBook (price, build quality, speed, video-out, etc.), it does have one problem: It's too darn hot!
I've read the specs about when the fans are supposed to come on and, frankly, it makes the unit so hot that you simply can't set it on your lap. I'm not as concerned when it's plugged into power as I'm using it on a desktop at that point but there really should be one add'l setting in the Energy Saver preference: Let's have a "Be Cooler" checkbox that turns the fan on at a lower setting - maybe 50C should be "on" point. This should be applicable to either or both the Battery or Power Adapter settings.
If the battery lasts a bit less between charges, well, that's my problem, right? I can always uncheck the box and live with the heat if I'm more concerned about using it for the longest time possible unplugged.
What do you think? Am I blowing smoke out of my USB port (or is that my MacBook burning the skin on my thigh)?

Barry, I just asked about the temps because you didn't mention it in your first post and I was curious. An empirical measurement is always better than, "It feels too hot to me." I wasn't trying to be argumentative.
You are right - heat is the enemy of electronics, but if Intel says that the CPU can run up to 100C without damage, then I will take their word for it as they know a whole lot more about thermodynamics than I do. I am sure that Intel put enough R&D into this CPU to know that they struck the right balance between useful life and heat.
Apple may be over-zealous when it comes to keeping their computers as thin and quiet as possible, but I have equal confidence in their abilities to do so without causing undue damage.
That is not to say that I will not keep a watchful eye on things. There are a lot of people here - and I am not pointing a finger at you - that seem to want to find something wrong with their Macs. I am not minimizing the concerns of those who have actual problems with their Macs and I certainly am not telling you to, "Get over it" but I am not too concerned about temps on mine. Hopefully that will work out OK for me.
My fan has come on in the mid to high 80s and quickly cooled things back down. I have noticed recently that my temps seem to be a little lower, but since I am on the iMac now I cannot give you an exact temp.
I do all the "heavy lifting" on my iMac as well, but that is mostly due to the screen size for me.

Another darn pagination question

OK, I know we've all heard enough on this subject, but darn it I just cannot get this to work. Could it be something in my set-up? This is almost identical to the code CJJ posted earlier. But all i get is the first list and links at the bottom. When I click on any other page link the next table of data does not show. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

#1) Yes. The import includes all the audio and video that you recorded with the camera. But it doesn't include all the sound effects and music you need to add to the production to make it shine.
Once you import the footage you can put the drive with the MXF files on a shelf. You are done with it. That is your master tape. Shelve it.

Setup Assistant: Where IS the darned thing?

I just had the guys at the Genius Bar update the OS on my iMac from 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard, and then updated it to 10.6.5. Rather than stick around the busy Macstore to get things configured, I opted to take the machine home and do it there, using the Setup Assistant as the store guy recommended. But where is the darned thing? I can't find it in my Applications or in my Utilities, and I only get lots of mystery files when I search using Spotlight, and I'd rather not open things blindly. So I guess I have two questions;
1. How do I find it and open it?
2. Do I even need to, if I was happy with the settings I had in 10.5.8?

Actually, it's a complicated story involving a failed hard drive, a failed optical drive, and an OS upgrade that didn't happen the first time around, but I think the end result was, effectively, a simple upgrade.

Upgrading to firefox 5 and updating my plug-ins helped a bit. Frog is less 'sticky' now, but it's not solved the problem. Java needs to be up to speed or the frog goes into stasis....

Those darn check boxes!!!

If I am the only one who has stubbed my toe on this, please fire away!
I use "Custom sync" for my ATV (and my iPods), not Automatic sync - if you do this, pay attention to the little check boxes in your iTunes Music library (they do not seem useful/necessary for anything else). Let me explain...
Over the weekend I was ripping some CDs to my library of nearly 5,000 songs, and somehow the check boxes on all the songs other than those that were just ripped became unchecked (I am sure it was something I did, not blaming anyone else - I did not notice this at the time because those boxes were fairly invisible to me). Later when I went to listen to some music on the ATV I was astonished to see that only 10 songs were in the library! It took me a lot of gyrations and experimentation (including resetting my ATV to Factory Settings and re-upgrading!) to finally realize that those darn check-boxes were unchecked, meaning that all those songs had been un-synced with my ATV. Once I re-checked them, I was able to sync again, and all is well (several hours later).
Note to self...pay attention to the check boxes!

better yet pay attention to each tab under Apple TV devices. I uncheck all syncing except for my movies.

My spell check can't spell worth a darn

I've had it. My spell checking in mail doesn't work. It can't spell anything even though it is setup to spell correct while i type. I've also clicked on doing spell check manually too, and it does a lousy job. If I can't get decent spell checking here, I'll be forced to use Outlook 2007 again. I really don't want to go there, but non-correcting spell check is not acceptable.

You are correct in that grammar is just as important as spell checking. I should have used a more perfect word that would have less room for interpretation like - crap.
Now can i import or download a better spell checker for the mail program?
Or do i need to go back to using Outlook 2007? Even this spell checker doesn't correct the lower case i. This is pretty sad since Outlook has had a great spell and grammar checker for years. Apple really has no excuse for poor performance on spelling and grammar. The iPage program does a better job. So why can't Apple link that program's spelling and grammar checking tool?

Go to Settings>General>Usage. How much space does it show you have?
If you connect your phone to your computer, what does iTunes say is on your phone? Do you see a large amount of "Other"? If so, you may have a corrupted database. You'll need to sync your phone then restore it as NEW (not from back up) then re-sync your data).

Windows 10 is so darn slow!

I notice it is so darn slow!!!! To a crawl. It drag everything down!!!!

By default, this computer suppose to run under XP.

I have a very hard time looking for a hard disk replacement.

They keep doing this everytime until my hard disk have gone bad sectors!
I suspecting that they must have install some program into my computer!
They even control my email address!
Until I cannot even gain access to my email account.

They even change my router password and took control of everything.
I can even hear them laughing! I can hear them typing on the keyboard!

I am having issues and close to just returning the darn thing....HELP

Hello all I need some help,
I have the TC set up to extend my wireless network, which it is doing fine.
After a few attempts of it dropping the connection for backup I finally started over and got it to work last night. Even waited tell it went through to wireless back ups after I had it connected via ethernet. Don't know if the ethernet was working or not. Yet it was faster and only took 10 hours to do 62.5 GB so I assume it was over the ethernet. Well I went to sleep after that and it never did another back up. The machine was still awake (I have the MBP not going to sleep while power cable is plugged in for the duration of this trial.)
The ERROR message I got was the disk image could not be mounted. I am getting the same error message from my wife's MBP as well. This was after probably close to 40 minutes of it "preparing". Now it says "Next backup: When Mac is plugged in". This is for her computer. Mine says it well be at 1307 but when I try to do it manually it says "preparing" for a few minutes then the error and the disk image can not be mounted.
Now there is an image of "Backup of Sean King's MacBook Pro 15"" like it is a external device but after doing all this I have tried to "eject" but it says it is open and in use can not eject.

I am with you. I am used to things working out of the box which is why I pay a premium for Apple products. I am tech savvy and haven't been able to get this thing to work.
I even reinitialized the disk and tried a full backup and it just won't do it. Gets several gigs in and just gives up. No real information on why its giving up.
Sounds like not really ready for primetime.
I may return mine too.

I want to search an external hard drive but when I click on it and do a command F the darn highlight jumps right back to 'home computer'. How can I search the actual external drive?

This is extremely irritating and frustrating. I think someone said to click on the external drive's name and do a command F but that doesn't work.
I also need to know why Apple Mail rules aren't working. I have them set to 'any' the email of the spammer, and 'move to junk on my mac'. It will work on that specific email, but not on others from the same email address as they come in.
But mostly I need to find something in one of two external drives and I need it yesterday.

Downloaded itunes will not open, "the file iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. How can I get this darn thing to work????????????????????????????//

At first I updated iTunes and tried to download an audio book. It locked up and closed me out so I removed iTunes completely and reinstalled. Now it won't even open the stupid program. What do I need to do? Any help please????????

Had same problem and solved it without having to reinstore any music or movies:
1. Delete old Library file
2. Go to the 'Previous iTunes Libraries' folder and copy one of the earlier files - note, they have a date extension, e.g. 'iTunes Library 2011-11-01'.
3. Paste this file in your iTuners folder and rename file by removing the date extension - 'iTunes Library'
You should have all your music and paylists in tact, unless it was a really old previous file.

I still have these questions and I will do my best to keep this real short. I had tried the iPod a long time ago but I broke all 3 of them and except for the first one, I have no idea what I did. I have the new iPod: Missing Manual (can't remember the exact name, but it was written by David Pogue, who really writes in a style that I relate to.) I still would like to use this technology for the numerous classes I teach and exercise classes I incorporate into my teaching too; and of course in my own personal life.
Besides being a bit ******** in this area of technology, I am hoping some people can offer me some help until I get the additional assistance that should be here any day. I saw the iPod Shuffle (I think it is called.) On the Apple Store home page, it is the one which looks like it is in the "landscape" position, has a larger display and shoot, I can't remember the name. Oh well, other than wanting some opinions on this one, I wanted to remember the name. I am putting together a new MacBook Pro and will purchase which ever music player I decide on--with your help of course!! Does this have a video monitor and the ability to take video recordings too? However, I no not need that function in the iPod I choose. I would like something that dos not look too "wild" as I walk in to class and introduce myself as the next music/dance instructor.
I have kind f learned more about iTunes 9, which I assume is how I will download and upload all of my music. I know with the first unit, I broke it because it aid t install the CD (or whatever it came in) to get the iPod ready and I guess the HD formatted for music. I really am not sure what it is I had to install but it turned out it was already installed and since I installed it again, and than tried to figure out what was wrong with it, I broke it.
Are there any recommendations with a good quality, great sounding (and I can afford extra earphones, if there are some that are far superior to the ones that come with the unit). I hope it has gotten a bit easier to understand because turning things and trying to remember where I put a genre or group of song types.
Anyway, without getting into all the boring details why I have not had very good luck with getting one of these amazing machines up and running and than remembering how to do it when I want to add some more tunes and keep it nice and tidy.

The iPod touch is a fantastic little toy, though the touch screen does take some getting used to. Is there anything in particular about using it that you're unsure about?
One great thing about the Touch is that it uses flash or solid state memory instead of a typical hard drive with many moving parts. That's one less thing that can go wrong!
If you're looking for headphones, the best ones I can recommend are by Bose (http://www.bose.com). I'm honestly not sure about earphones--I've just used the earphones that come with my iPods and have very little experience with anything else. As for speakers, if I would be purchasing them, I'd look at JBL products (http://www.jbl.com) or Logitech products (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakersaudio/home_pcspeakers/&cl=us,en). The exact item you need depends on what you're using the computer and speakers for (ie: if you're playing a video on a big screen, you may want one set of speakers, but if you're only playing music in a small room, a less expensive/smaller item would probably do the job just fine).
