Darwin Steaming Server On A Linux Web Server - HELP ASAP

Hello,
I'm wanting to install Darwin Streaming Server on my Linux Web Server.
How do I do this? I've uploaded the files and not sure what to do now?
Any help will be great...thanks!

Hi Jacques,
think I'm having a similar type pf problem you experienced way back in May.
Did the below suggestion fix your issue.
I'm running Red Hat Ent 5.0 with MySQL and BOXI 3.1.
I get the error
A database error occured. The database error text is: {Driver Manager} Data source name not found, and no default driver specified. (WIS 10901)
I know my unixODBC can't be working correctly since my isql doesn't work.
I've been hanging out in these forum's the past few days and your problem seems to match the one I'm experiencing at the moment.
I'd appreciate it if you can remember how you overcame the issue and could share your learnings.
Thank you, Ed

  • FORMS SERVER help ASAP

I know this is era of 9iAS.But one of our clients has Forms 6i and Forms server and its not cost effective for them to buy high-end server for implementing 9iAS.So is it alright to implement such an architecture with Oracle 8i as back-end.Is there any issue of Oracle support expiration for Forms Server.Since I have migrated client server architecture based forms and reports to 9iAS, I am not too sure of how to do the same without 9iAS. Is web-enabling of forms in 9iAS same as with Forms server. Please help , as we have to provide solution feasibilty report to our clients.
    Thanks in advance,

I don't know anything about suport, but,I can tell you that is easy to install a forms/reports server after you have a apache, iis or some other web listener installed on your server...

  • Problems on installing BlazeDS on GoDaddy's shared Linux web hosting server

GoDaddy's shared Linux hosting supports Tomcat (V 5.0.27 on JVM 1.5.0_22).
I installed BlazeDS v3.2.0.3978 on the same Tomcat (5.0.27) with the same JVM (1.5.0_22) in my Laptop and it works fine. I created a
simple Java testing class and put it in BlazeDS war file. I deployed the BlazeDS war file in the local Tomcat. I created a testing MXML file with the RemoteObject to access the Java class using localhost as the URL. Everything works fine.
Now I deployed the same BlazeDS war file with a different WEB-INF/Flex/services-conf.xml (differnet host name) in the Tomcat in GoDaddy
and using the same MXML file with the services-config.xml pointing to the URL hosted by GoDaddy. I got a long error message.
It was too long and out of the screen and I can only see the middle part of it as following:

Any suggestions? Has anyone successfully deployed and run BlazeDS in the Tomcat in GoDaddy's shared Linux web server?

Do you get any error messages on the Tomcat logs when the app is started?

What do you mean by this? Have you deployed the blazeds.war and your own war file to the server or did you somehow put your code inside the blazeds.war?

  • Darwin Server Help

Hi Guys. I'm a complete newbie to Darwin, and have some really basic question to ask... whenever I download the program for mac, each time I want to launch, I have to reinstall, as it seems to make no difference to my target drive. I'm then rerouted to a web-based interface that I don't understand at all. can anyone offer any help?
I really only want to unicast to a Linux server which will then embed my feed in a pre-prepared page, but am not really a web guy, so any help at all would be much appreciated...

I though port 80 handled all internet traffic...
By no means. Port 80 is HTTP traffic, that is, web pages. There are many other TCP/IP ports in use across the Internet.
should I consider just running broadcaster, and Darwin Streaming on my MacPro, and then pointing the web browser over to it, instead of trying to run darwin on the server?
No. Broadcaster and DSS need to be on separate servers, and it's best if DSS is on a different server from your web server (and if you want to allow DSS to stream over HTTP Port 80, it must be on a separate server from your web server since they'd both be using port 80).
I think you're sort of working from both ends on this, and that's complicating matters. My suggestion would be to work to get Darwin Streaming Server working to serve pre-recorded material first. Then once that's working, you can work on getting Broadcaster to feed live material to DSS. The cookbook I reference above should help get Broadcaster working with DSS. I see I made a typo in the URL; try this one instead.
If that still doesn't point you in the right direction, you may need to contract with someone experienced in web streaming to assist in the intial setup. It's difficult to work through the entire process in a web forum. This sort of venue is better suited to answering specific questions, not providing a full backgrounder and step-by-step guide.
    Regards.

  • Darwin Streaming Server on Tiger Desktop?

Is it possible to run Darwin Streaming Server on Tiger desktop. I don't have the 10.4 server. I make a lot of FCP videos and need to use DSS for testing.
I dowloaded the binary from ADC. That site says it only runs on the server, Linux, BSD or Intel.
Alternatively could I compile the source for 10.4 Desktop with XTools?
    Thanks

Yes you can intall DSS on a TIger machine, this is what I have done however I haven't really tested it out yet

  • Quicktime Broadcaster 1.5 and Darwin Streaming Server 5.5

Since i upgraded to Quicktime Broadcaster 1.5 (as i want to use H264) i can't use any more the Automatic Unicast (Announce). It says 'Broadcast error disconnected (-3285). I updated to Darwin Streaming Server 5.5 (on SuSE 9.1 Linux on a hired server with 2 IP's, one binded to DSS, the other to Apache to enable Streamin over port 80) but it doesn't help. I tried with Wirecast instead and everything workes fine (at least it created the .sdp file correctly) so i don't think the problem is in the Streaming Server Set up. Anyone has experienced something similar with the new Broadcaster?

We use 10.3.9 server here on three different machines. Two of the three disconnect from Broadcaster after about half an hour, with the -3285. The third system will not even allow a connection to start, ever. I am thinking that the automatic unicast file has a permissions issue. All of the three servers have Open Directory enabled. I want to turn it off, but I am not sure what will happen to the rest of the server's abilities if I do. Does anyone run in an Open Directory disabled configuration?

  • JMF and the Darwin Streaming Server

Has anyone been successful in getting the JMF JMStudio to work with
the Darwin Streaming Server? I have set up Darwin on my computer and
encoded a sample .mov file using a codec that is supposed to be
compatible with JMF, the H.263. I was able to view this file inside
JMStudio if I opened it directly as a file. I was also able to stream
this file via the server using the Quicktime movie player by opening
    URL to rtsp://localhost/test.mov
However, when I go into JMStudio's Open URL, and put in
rtsp://localhost/test.mov, I get an error message saying:
    Controller Error:
Failed to realize: Server is not responding.
I am using JMF Version 2.1.1e and the Apple Darwin Streaming Server
    5.0
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Also, let me know
if there is another streaming server, preferably open source, that
    works well with JMF.
    thanks.

your doing local host, JMF needs to receive rtp on
port XXXX, now if you are receivng on port XXXX the
server maybe trying to send on the same port , or
maybe it's trying to send the RTCP data.
Does darwin use RTCP ?? and also I would try from
second computer , as JMF sends, receives on same port.I am pretty sure all the ports are set up correctly. I have tried connecting from another computer and run into the same issues. Also, I was able to view the movie just fine from the same computer (connecting to itself) using the Quicktime Java package provided by Apple. I've been able to view movies in quicktime using the RTSP protocol

  • Darwin streaming server

I can't find a discussion area dedicated to Quicktime or Darwin Streaming Server technologies, so since I am working on a MacBook Pro I'll put my initial question here... if anyone wants to direct me to a more appropriate forum, please do!
The problem: I have gone through the Darwin Streaming Server installation process (using Apple's provided installer for v5.5.5) and no errors were reported until the server setup part (via Safari). At that point I was informed that the server had not started as it should have, as part of the installation. I have tried manually launching the QuicktimeStreamingServer executable from Terminal, but it gives me the error "Bad executable (or shared library)".
    Any help welcome!
    Thanks...

    Hi Matt,
I spent a few hours troubleshooting this since I got the same error message. Giving up, I decided to download an earlier version:
    http://www.opensource.apple.com/projects/streaming/release/DarwinStreamingSrvr5. 5-OSX.dmg
Version 5.5 was able to install correctly and immediately took me to the Darwin Streaming Server Admin url.
I'm using 10.5.1 on a power pc [intel dual core]

  • Darwin Streaming Server & Quicktime Broadcaster Problems

recently upgraded to Darwin Streaming Server 5.5, and am having difficulty with it. I keep getting the following error when I try to change the settings under the Broadcaster sidebar menu item.
    Error - Perl execution failed

The line that this error references is:

Additionally, If I select "Broadcast" in QuickTimeBroadcaster, I am presented with this error:
    Connection Failed (-5420)
I have not experienced these errors with the previous version, which I uninstalled. When I reinstalled DSS I received a "Successfully Install" Message.
And...for what its worth, this is the version of perl I am using:
This is perl, v5.8.6 built for darwin-thread-multi-2level
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • How to convert JPEG Files into Streams for Darwin Streaming Server?

    Hi!
Is there any possibility to convert JPEG Files locatet in a Folder into a Videostream for the Darwin Streaming Server, like Quicktime Broadcaster does with my iSight Video??? I know I can convert JPEGs into Movies using QuickTime Pro, but that is not exactly what I am seraching for: I have a folder, where some kind of Webcam writes about 5 JPEG pictures per second. Now I would like to have these pictures in converted into a videostream in realtime. QuickTime Broadcaster would be the weapon of choice if it would accept JPEG Files as input...
Is there any posibility to solve this problem??

    Hello Karthik,
I just tried to solve my problem with your suggestions, unfortunately, my JSP channel still doesn't work :(

Do you still have any other suggestions?

  • Darwin Streaming Server Files Help

I purchased a Lynux server to stream movies of well, lots of stuff, and I downloaded the darwin Streaming Server Files. I did a mass upload FTTP and well seems relayconfig.xml is a sample??? What all do I have to change in this, and do I need one for every movie? do i change the title of the file for each movie? like relayconfig1.xml, relayconfig2.exm ect?
ANY help yould be greatly appreciated

The mount point is supposed to be the location on the hard disk where the movie file resides; the sdp extension indicates that the file is a stream. To create a SDP file, try using the information linked to from this page.

  • Uninstalling  Darwin Streaming Server

    Hello Experts,
Quick question, How to completly uninstall the  Darwin Streaming Server from Mountain Lion ?
    Thanks for your time.

    No uninstaller or instructions; wonderful
I would broadly follow How To Uninstall Darwin Streaming Server 5.5.3 on Mac OS X
in conjunction with a list of files for the current version (if that's what you have), obtained by pointing Pacifist at the install pkg. I advise against using Terminal to remove the files.
Backup first, in case of problems.

  • H.264 Settings for Darwin Streaming Server

I would like to encode H.264 for unicast streaming delivery off of the Darwin platform. We've done a lot of testing and the .mov encodes that we've been putting out at 768kbps (hinted for streaming) have been serving quite slow and choppy off of anything other than a T1 connection.
I've seen some H.264 .mp4 encodes at 350kbps that look incredible streaming but we cannot duplicate this size and quality for some reason with our own video.
At 480x270, or something around those dimensions, I was wondering what the best bit rate and format would be for streaming delivery off of the Darwin platform?
For Darwin we are running 5.5.5 and we are using Compressor 3.0.1. All testing is being done with Quicktime 7.2 on Mac Pro machines over various types of connections.
    Thanks,
    Mike

After looking through the apple manual I found this:
Resetting the Streaming Server Admin User Name and Password
If you forget the Streaming Server Admin user name and password, you can reset them.
To reset the user name and password:
1 Log in to the server computer as root, open a terminal, and type the following:
    qtpasswd someUserName
where someUserName is a name of your choice.
2 Follow the prompts by entering the administrator user name and a password you want to
    assign to the user someUserName.
3 Using a text editor, modify the /Library/QuickTimeStreaming/Config/qtgroups file.
For Windows, modify the c:\Program Files\Darwin Streaming Server\qtgroups file. For other
supported platforms, modify the /etc/streaming/qtgroups file. Modify the file so that the user
name you just created or modified is included in the group Admin, as follows:
    admin: someUserName
4 Save the file as ordinary text (not .rtf or any other file format).

  • Broadcaster, Darwin Streaming Server, IP problem?

I'm pretty sure this is a DNS issue. Hopefully someone has some simple advice out there.
I'm using an MacBookPro, Broadcaster and Darwin Streaming Server.
Attempting to create a .mov file that will deliver a live stream.
    1) I created a new QT player and assigned the movie rtsp://192.168.0.105/myteststream
    2) Then I saved the movie as whatever.mov
    3) I then uploaded whatever.mov to a remote server.
Now if I call on this file from my local network "http://www.mydomain/whatever.mov" (using any comp here - Mac, PC) I can view the streaming movie with no problem.
However, anyone else is unable to view it. They get a broken QT error. (10060)
I'm thinking that the "192.168.0.105" IP is incorrect. (local?)

I'm thinking that the "192.168.0.105" IP is incorrect. (local?)
That is a local IP address, and it will only work for someone within your network. To find the correct IP address, go to this page from any computer on the LAN and note down what it reports.
You may also need to open ports used by RTSP on the firewall if you have one, and configure port forwarding on the router so that those ports are forwarded to the local IP of the computer hosting the stream.
