  • Sun Directory Server 6.3 Training Workshop coming to USA

    JavaWorkshops.com is going to have 9 public classes over the next few months in the USA. I just wanted to pass this along. I was luck enough to attend their Directory Workshop in London and it was amazing. The instructor is a former Netscape professional services GURU and was super sharp and the class was loads of fun - ESPECIALLY since most of it was hands on time learning, setting the servers up and so forth - FROM SCRATCH!!!
    I wanted to pass this along as I have seen people ask for Directory Server 6.3 and Communications Suite 6 Training in the states - THIS IS NOT A FORMAL TRAINING, IT'S A ROLL YOUR SLEEVES UP AND GET DIRTY WITH THE SOFTWARE WORKSHOP, MUCH BETTER THAN STANDARD TRAINING!!!
    I met the founder Karim and he is such a cool guy, he even took my feedback about the class / labs and made a lab based around my feedback. WOW, these guys really listen to their customers! My collegue and I are going to the Chicago Comms Suite training and wanted to let others know before the class is sold out. He ONLY allows 8 students per public class so hurry and get signed up.
    The web site is http://www.javaworkshops.com. Hope to see you guys at the training workshop in July :-)

    I took one of their classes in London and it was an excellent class - very hands on, 2 - 3 hrs of lecture a day, and lots of hardware, lab time!!!. I also saw an email from Jesse T who said he knows the instructor and said he was EXCELLENT. Jesse's response was in the ims-alias this morning I think. Trust me you wont regret it. Also I saw another email saying he is going to have a workshop in Europe, so if you are interested, let them know :-)

  • BW authorizations for standard development

    For a training workshop, I need to define some authorizations for the trainees. They shouldn't be allowed to do whatever they want on the BW and R/3 systems. So I can't give them the SAP_ALL profile!
    On the source system, the users would be allowed to do something like the following:
    - Activate DataSources as <u>local</u> objects (in the package $TMP or in test packages T*);
    - Edit the DataSource's active version;
    - Edit the function EXIT for the LO DataSources (can the EXIT be a <u>local</u> object?)
    On the BW side:
    - Replicate the DataSources;
    - Create DataSources for the FILE source system;
    - Create export DataSources for the <i>myself</i> source system;
    - Develop data models and flows;
    - Start InfoPackages;
    - Develop and run BEx queries.
    All these BW objects would be <u>local</u> (yes, this is the default behaviour in BW -- but how can I be absolutely sure a user is prevented altogether from putting an object in a productive package by mistake?)
    I'm not a security expert.. Can you give me some good advice and send me some links to useful docs on this topic?
    Thanks, <a href="https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/profile/Davide+Cavallari">Davide</a>

    Hello David,
    using BI Authorizations in BW and then adding data level security in the Universe on top of that will only lead to situations like you have now.
    Data Level security goes into BW alone or into the Universe alone, mixing both will lead to issues and remember that the Universe has far less capabilities in this area.
    0BI_ALL is only related to data level security, so the fact that you see the request for 0BI_ALL in the trace clearly shows that your defined data level security entries contradict each other somehow and that BW then requires 0BI_ALL for the user to give the data that was requested.
    like I said above, not a good idea to mix those data level security concepts. all data level security should be in BW already.
    Also - why even use the Universe inbetween ?

  • Is it possible to send a fcp x project (media and events) to be finished on a imac running fcp7?

    I started a project using FCP X on a Macbook as part of a training workshop in a school.  The school have requested that, if possible, I send the rough cut and all media to them, as they have access to FCP 7 running on an iMac.  What is the best way to approach this?

    You need this little app to convert it:

  • How to register a new list of JDBC driver to ODI?

    Hi Guys,
    How to register a new list of JDBC driver to appear on ODI?
    exam :
    When I defined a new master repository that resides on MSSQL 2005
    I already had sqljdbc.jar (This is mssql2005 jdbc driver) on the ..\oracledi\drivers
    But when I browsed jdbc driver list it will not appear any new driver we just put them in the driver folder.
    I knew this is a common issue.
    So I need to manually define a driver class and url to match exactly with the jdbc document say for sqljdbc.jar
    which is
    Driver Class : com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    URL : jdbc:sqlserver://localhost:1084
    I think that the driver list will have to store in somewhere in the xml files OR some records on the master repository database.
    But where ?
    Because I saw the new list driver (Microsoft SQL Server 2005 driver for JDBC) on the vmware image that I had (actually it is ODI Training workshop VMware Image).
    But I don't know where to looks.
    Here are some proof that they actually appear in the driver list
    [Original MSSQL 2000 Driver List|http://img.ihere.org/uploads/1f6d1601bb.png]
    [New MSSQL 2005 Driver List|http://img.ihere.org/uploads/94cc91e1ac.png]
    How comes?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi CTS !
    Then, its impossible add new drivers into ODI ? So, if I need to add a driver and this exist in Oracle list drivers, what can I do in this case ?
    I have problems with Oracle JDBC driver in ODI. When I try generate web services the "Not suitable driver" message is shown. In Design, module part, when i generate web service i have the "*name of data source*" field and I put into "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver". Ok, this isn&acute;t a correct sintax, then I read in this manual "*note that the name of the data source must be consistent with the entries in context.xml and web.xml, prefixed with:java:/comp/env/*".
    Ok, In other post (Re: Not found web.xml and content.xml files into ODI folders
    you said me only necessary to change the web.xml and context.xml is only necessary if I use Tomcat. Then, how to discover a correct sintax to put into this field and generate my web service ?
    Best regards,
    Joao.

  • How can I charge my iPad 2 when I'm already using the port for a projector?

    I run training workshops all day and want to use my iPad to run Keynote or PowerPoint through a projector. I already have the VGA adaptor and that all works fine. Trouble is, the battery only lasts half the day. So I have to swap over to a netbook for the rest of that day while the iPad charges...
    Is there a double-adaptor that will allow me to plug the charger in as well as the VGA adaptor?
    Seems such an obvious thing to want to do but I've looked all over for an adaptor and I haven't found one...
    How can you charge an iPad if the only port on it is already occupied?
    Cheers
    Steve

    Hi Texas Mac Man
    Thanks for your suggestion. Kinda means I have to buy a wireless-capable projector. Most of the VGA projectors in the venues I work with are fixed-in-the-ceiling and not wireless capable...
    My luck with doing off-the-mainstream stuff like jailbreak etc is that (1) it won't work for me, or (2) it all goes horribly wrong, stuffs up my machine and voids the warranty... So I tend to stick to the proprietory stuff.
    Not very adventurous, but then I need dependable stuff with a warranty and someone I can yell at to fix it.
    Maybe Apple will read this and provide a risk-free solution.
    You never know....
    But thank you.

  • Div Layer on top of Div Layer impossible problem

    Hello guys,
    For over 42 hours I've been puzzling myself with this problem.
    Using Dreamweaver cs5.5, i have a text box with overflow:auto, because there's alot of text. On top of this layer I have another div layer with a pic that fades when the page loads.  My problem is the scrollbar is beneath the layer for the pic that fades, so when you try to scroll down the page you cannot because the pic layer blocks it.  In Internet Explorer it works perfectly fine, but not in any other browser.
    Anyone know any way around this uberly frustrating problem?
    Thanks, and take care!

    Thank you for your response Murray....Below is the code.  I appreciate any and all input.

  • Print postcards from 'Pages' with a Lexmark C544dn printer?

    I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to print postcards from 'Pages' with a Lexmark C544dn printer. As far as I can say, I have correctly set all parameters, but the output is always blank. Any ideas? FYI Lexmark have been unable to help!!

    GeoffBob wrote:
    Hi Jerry, and thanks for your response.
    What I want to achieve is a landscape postcard with one line of text across the top. I use this to stick on a few sticky notes for training workshop participants to use, to record their special interests for the session. I have done this for years with a Windows PC, MS Word and an HP4500dn LaserJet, and assumed that it would be a simple process with the new set-up (iMac, OS-X 10.7.4, iWork Pages 4.1 and Lexmark C544dn).
    I started a blank document, with the paper size set to 6 x 4 inches landscape format. I re-set the margins to suit the size of the postcard, so that the text appeared to be in the right position, on screen.
    I used the MP tray to feed the paper (there is only this one input, apart from the regular paper tray), and have tried this at the left side, in the centre and at the right side, in both landscape and portrait format.
    I have even tried putting a sheet of portrait A4 paper through, and the printing shows up two thirds towards the bottom of the sheet, across the narrow dimension of the sheet. This makes me think that the machine is 'printing' after the paper has passed through.
    Any idea what I am missing? Thanks, Geoff
    Your trial with a full size paper tells the story, I think. Your ink is missing the post card. Try again with a small card. After initiating the Print function, make sure you are seeing the expanded Print dialog with the preview on the left side of the dialog window. Does everything look OK there? Paper correct size and orientation? Text showing where it should in the preview?

  • External login concerns

    I have been implementing OS authentication on a database in development. I have seen a lot of warnings on security holes caused by OS authentication.
    I am currently working with an Oracle 11g back-end database running on Linux; the front-end is MS Access 2003 running on WinXP. I need to be able to log onto the back-end without explicitly entering a username and password. How is this best done?
    If you know of other threads concerning this please direct me to them. If there aren't any, I suppose this may be as good a time as any to begin one.
    Thanks.

    For this effort I am the DBA, Developer, "expert" (in that I am the only one in our group who knows anything about Oracle: I am a certified developer and have taken the first Oracle DBA training workshop), do all and end all (such as I am).
    I will look at the Oracle documentation for some answers but I have found that, as often as not, the indexes are not of much use in finding the information I need. I guess that part of my question is to get some direction on where to start looking within the documentation to begin finding answers.
    Some other details.
    I recently had to change from a single machine, all windows environment, to a single machine Linux/Windows (via VirtualBox) environment. The Oracle DB is running on the Linux side and MS Access in running within VirtualBox. I have been successful in setting up links to the Database from within Windows but all of my efforts to this point require username/password. In the old system I was able to access the ODB as I wanted very successfully but I have forgotten how I had things set up and cannot find the documentation I had (I'm being more careful this time).
    I completed a large amount of my development in the former setup. In that setup I was using External OS Authentication to access the Oracle DB with a System DSN defined in the Windows environment to access the Oracle DB from the Access DB. In the VBA code I have been initializing ADODB.Connetcion objects and opening the connections with the Open method using a line like cnn.Open "DSN=myDSN"This opening of the database connection is performed many times in the code and I cannot have the user logging in when back-end access is required.

  • Road Warrior Looking for Projector Recommendation

    I present using Keynote on a Macbook Pro. Frequently disappointed by client-provided projectors. Looking for recommendation for portable LCD or DLP projector with DVI input. I have many videos embedded in Keynote presentations. I use client's audio system. Audience size varies but typically around 100-150. I do teacher training workshops, sometimes in school cafeterias and other rooms that are hard to darken. Any suggestions or tips will be greatly appreciated

  • EE-H-VPLS, ME-H-VPLS or eVPN

    HI NetPros,
    we are in the middle of a CPE evaluation process for a managed ethernet service.
    I just wonder what the community would suggest what way to go:
    - pure MPLS to the edge (we already have L3 services) but low throughput power
    - switch/pure ethernet access with lower l2cp transparency then with 3rd party vendors
    - any other great idea is welcome
    7 million thanks to any contribution to that discussion
    Next week I'm out for v6 training/workshop. Take your time to answer.
    Also many thanks to Cisco to provide and make this platform available. Highly appreciated.
