First, restart your MacBook Air and your Time Capsule. This solves that problem in most of the cases.
    If it doesn't work, see > http://pondini.org/TM/C12.html
Zunächst starten Sie Ihr MacBook Air und Time Capsule. Dies löst das Problem in den meisten Fällen.

  • System Migration can't find backup volume in Time Capsule

I'm having a crisis restoring the backup volume from my old 15" MacBook Pro (2010 model, OSX 10.6) to my new 15" MacBook Pro, 2012 OSX 10.7). I back up both my iMac and my MacBook Pro there wirelessly. I've had success restoring hard drives in the past. I executed a backup this morning before my old machine died. When I try to run Data Migration wirelessly, it can't find the either volume. When I look in Time Machine using Finder, I can't see either volume (wirelessly or wired). However, when I connect to Time Capsule using FInder with an Ethernet connection, I can see both Parse Bundles.
Here is another variable. I changed the Time Capsule password using my other machine right before I started all of this.
What can I do? I've got some major project deadlines looming Monday and I don't really have time for data recovery. Is there anything I can do or am I sunk?

Apple sells products that have been "regionalized" for different parts of the world.  North America, South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, etc, for example.
It is not possible to change a Time Capsule from one region to another. The reason for this is that different regions have different wireless standards and regulations. See this link for all the details:
List of WLAN channels - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Time Capsule purchased in the USA will operate from 100-240 Volts and 50/60 Hz automatically, so power wise, it will work just about anywhere in the world if you have the right kind of AC wall socket adapter. (A power transformer or converter is not needed).
But, you will have to be careful about using higher 5 GHz wireless channels on the USA Time Capsule while in Europe, since the use of higher 5 GHz channels is not legal in most European countries at this time.  In other words, keep the 5 GHz channel on the USA Time Capsule at Channel 36, 40, 44 or 48.

Look at the more like this column on the right.. this is the most frequently asked question in this discussion area.
Reboot the TC.. restart the whole network if the simple reboot did not work.. start in order. modem.. router/TC.. clients. 2min gap.

I keep getting this error when trying to backup time capsule with time machine. The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data-1/Dan’s iMac.sparsebundle” is already in use.

Make sure that no other Macs are backing up at the time.
Pull the power cable from the back of the Time Capsule
    Count to ten
Plug the power cable back into the back of the Tme Capsule
Wait a few minutes, then try a backup again.

I'm on Mountain Lion and have version 6.1 of AirPort utility so there is no button to "Disconnect All Users"and the only other option of "removing and re-selecting the drive via Time Machine Prefs" doesn't work either. So this will work.
Launch Airport Utility and select the TC "Edit" button, then select the Disks tab. Deselect "Enable File Sharing" and click "Update". The TC will reboot then follow the same procedure and reselect "Enable File Sharing" and click "Update". After TC reboots again you'll be up and running. Not the neatest way to do it but saves having to unplug the TC which risks disk damage and the whole procedure takes less than a minute. The "Enable File Sharing" button seems to have replaced the "Disconnect All Users" button but with the slight disadvantage that it reboots the TC which takes up additional time.

The backup disk image "/Volumes/Jeffrey Brown's Time Capsule-1/Main.Sparsebundle" could not be created (error 17). How can I fix it?

Try just rebooting the TC.. or a reboot of the network..
Turn everything off and restart in correct order.. modem.. TC.. clients. 2min gap.
Try C9 in pondini for that error.

I generally make a nuisance of myself here by suggesting Apple names are more curse than help. Apple automatic naming conventions are causing havoc.. change everything to SMB compatible names.. ie windows networking which is the base common denominator of networking.. ie if it works with SMB it works on any OS.
Short.. less than 20 characters. 10 is usually plenty. Why type more than you need to?
No spaces.. spaces have to be removed even in apple names..
Pure alphanumeric.. some characters cause issues.. again the apostrophe is a nasty item to all other OS.
The -1 is stupid Mountain Lion.
    eg Jeffrey Brown's Time Capsule-1
    Change to JBTC

    This is a complex procedure.
Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule
    Wait a minute or two
Plug the power cord back in to the back of the Time Capsule
This will fix the issue 98% of the time. If you are in the unlucky 2% category, more help is here from Pondini, the Time Machine guru:

I have not found a long-term solution (fix), but in my case the volume where the Time Machine backup should occur usually is mounted on the desktop but not as a shared volume (incidated as a drive with the people holding hands superimposed over the drive icon). If I drag the drive to the trash (unmount it), the next time Time Machine is scheduled to run, it completes successfully.

  • Migration assistant finds no volumes in time capsule backup

I hadn't updated my mac mini for ages and it started to run slower and slower.  Before upgrading to Mavericks (from 10.6.8) I checked that Time Machine (backing up to a Time Capsule) had backed up recently (it had with no error messages), unfortunately the install failed (disk error) and I had to take it into the Genius bar.  They wiped the machine and set it up for me to finish the install (via migration assistant) at home.  Unfortunately once home and when selecting the option to migrate from a time machine backup it finds the Time Capsule but then displays the message "no volumes found in backup".  Any ideas?  Can I just skip migration assistant, set up a new account (with a different name to those in back-up) and then manually go into Time Machine to restore??

    Yes.
Most likely, some folders were excluded from the backups as the result of a failed or aborted software installation.
Starting from a clean installation of OS X, set up a new administrator account and log in. Enter Time Machine and press the key combination shift-command-C. The front window will show all mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible.* Select the one you want and navigate to your home folder (in the Users folder at the top level of the old startup volume.)
You should now be able to restore your user data. I suggest you do this in two stages. Quit all applications except the Finder before you begin.
Restore all the visible items at the top level of the home folder.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar. Enter Time Machine and restore all items in the Library folder. Log out and log back in as soon as the restore is complete.
Any other invisible folders or files at the top level of the home folder that you want to preserve will have to be restored separately. For most users, that isn't necessary.
You'll have to reinstall all third-party applications from scratch, or restore them from another kind of backup, if you have one.
You'll have another problem if this is a new computer, or if you erased the startup volume: The next time you back up, Time Machine won't recognize any files as being the same as they were before, and will make a full copy of all files. There might not be enough space on one or more of the backup volumes for that. There are different ways of dealing with that situation, depending on your needs. The easiest way is to set the backup drives aside, if possible, until you're sure you'll no longer need the data on them, then erase them and start over. Meanwhile start a new backup on one or more empty storage devices. If that solution isn't workable for you, ask for instructions.
*If you don't see any snapshots in Time Machine, exit the time-travel view and then hold down the option key while selecting
              Browse Other Backup Disks...
from the Time Machine menu, which has an icon that looks like a clock running backwards. Select the backups of the computer by its previous name. If you don't have the Time Machine menu, open the Time Machine preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked
Show Time Machine in menu bar
