Dash Code additional HTML files
Hi there.
I recently started using Dashcode and it seems pretty nice. I have a problem though. I'm developing a custom project with a single index.html html file. I managed to add a new HTML file in the project by duplicating index.html and renaming it to about.html. However I couldn't make Dashcode to open about.html in the canvas. I can only see the html code in the source code window but in the canvas is still index.html.

(htm's) as PHP's so that I can see the page? This would be a much
better solution rather than me having to upload the files to the
server to see what they look like.

I saved a file as HTML only. When I am going to open this file, I found the file showed a notepad icon. When I opened the file, it was totally code description with some words inside. It looked like program work showed up.

You can paste the text between <code> and </code> tags.
If you save the page as an HTML file then you should get the page source with HTML tags like you see if you right-click on a web page and select View Page Source in the right-click context menu. -
I exclusively work in Fluid Grid since my site is a Responsive Web Design. I'm having trouble with slow load time in DW CC 2014.1, when my file, as they all do of course, has the Google Analytics Tracking Code script.
I'm on a Windows 8.1 using a Dell Precision M3800 Laptop with Memory 16GB (2x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3 . Each of our site's 180 or so web pages, of course, has its Google Analytics Tracking Code script. It is placed, following Google instructions, as the last entry in the <head>. Google Analytics does not instruct to place the script in the JS Folder with an scr to it, but rather in the <head>. It takes up to one and a half or two minutes for DW CC 2014.1 to load the Google Analytics Tracking Code script . That is, the grid does not show in Live View until finally analytics.js shows up in the Document Toolbar. A minute or two can add up when every page you load takes this long. And, making new Fluid Grid pages, as is done, through the Save As command; every new page made you have to deal with the minute or two wait time since all those pages have the Google Analytics Tracking Code script. Therefore, this time component alone, assuming I'm accessing and/or making 20 pages per week (and in our business this is easily the case) the math is that I'm wasting between 17 and 35 hours per year just with DW CC 2014.1 loading the much needed Google Analytics Tracking Code script.
I have loaded HTML files that do not have the Google Analytics Tracking Code script as a test and those files load at the normal quick speed.
Therefore, the new Chromium Embedded Framework browser engine has a serious load problem when it confronts an HTML5 file with a Google Analytics Tracking Code script. Oddly, the prior DW CC 2014 version, with the old browser engine did not have this slow-load problem since I was loading these same files in that DW CC version up until October 8th or so.
I think this new browser engine is a Google platform that apparently has a problem rendering or loading a Google Analytics Tracking Code script. That makes no sense.
Anyone else had this particular slow-load problem with DW CC 2014.1?

Per Google's instructions, I pasted the snippet before the closing </head> tag. And, even in that positioning in the file; the file loaded at the speed (about one second) that it did prior to DW 2014.1.
Two questions.
Will this snippet provide the same tracking data as my current GA snippet?
Because my current GA snippet is in about 200 web pages, can I retain the old snippet in most of them and place the new snippet in my approximately 5 main web pages as well as my templates so my new pages, as well as my main pages, have the new snippet. That is, can I have both snippets (i.e. old snippet in earlier pages and new snippet in main pages and new pages to be made going forward) in my website at the same time?
Of course I would not have both the old and new snippet in a web page at the same time.
I greatly appreciate any assistance anyone can provide me on this issue and thank all of you in advance.

Html files with included php: related files, code color?

Wow, what an active forum!
I have two questions about html files that include php.
Almost all my html files have this structure:

(php stuff)
require_once 'somefile.php';
?>
(html stuff)
My first question is, is there any way for DW CS4 to display the files included this way? At the moment, they don't show up in related file view.
My second question is, is there any way for DW CS4 to display the html and php code in the file in a pleasant way? The php is not red as it is in pure php files.
Definitely not wanting to change the way I code or to change the file extensions...
Instead, wanting to change the SW settings to make my work easier.

My hundreds of pages validate XHTML transitional...
You are quite right that browsers do not interpret php code, but the browser never sees php code.
I will try to explain again
The html file starts with <? php (code> ?>
When the browser calls the html file, the server knows to process the file as php.
It processes the php, then returns some html headers, and follows up with all the html that is after the <? php (code> ?> section.
Thousands of php coders work like this.It's a very efficient way of building a modular website while keeping html extensions.
By the way, related files already show in CS4 if they are in the html code.
Are you 100% sure you are correct about the CS5 inclusion situation? You won't know unless you have built an html file that looks like this.

If you have never used php in an html file, you will probably need to add something like this to your .htaccess file:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php .htm .html
It tells your server that php processes not only php files but also html files.

CS3\configuration\CodeColoring\PHP.xml
To the user config folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application
Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver
9\Configuration\CodeColoring\
Then open PHP.xml in your favorite editor. You need to add

of the doctype lists Change every occurrence of this:
doctypes="PHP_MySQL"
to be:
doctypes="PHP_MySQL,HTML"
Save and close. If DW is running, close it. Now restart DW.

Using Firefox 3.6.20 and Windows XP Home SP3. Firefox sporatically deletes bookmarks from the bookmarks toolbar. Additionally, when I try to import from a saved HTML file, Firefox does not import the complete file. Results are inconsistent.
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

I'm using FF 16.0.2
I have to open a link/attachment on a webpage that is a .html file.
When I click open, regardless of what software I use to do so: OpenOffice, IE, FF, notepad, wordpad - only HTML code is seen. This is what I assume to be because of what "jscher2000" mentioned - the URL is converted into a HTML.txt file.
Notably, if I go to the website on IE and open the HTML file through it, it works no problem. I have tried disabling addons.

Mozilla will not recogniz .html file as image. It will load code instead.
I am creating an email image with multiple parts that lead to different webpages. I need to get the image on mozilla so i can then copy and paste the image into my email. Do you know why the html file is opened in mozilla as code as opposed to the image? How do I get the image to be recognized?
Firefox generally takes it cue from the information provided by the web server, and the web server probably is taking its cue from the file extension. So it sees .html and tells Firefox it's HTML, and Firefox tries to display it as HTML.
Contrast that with Internet Explorer, which inspects the content and sometimes overrides the server.
Is there any reason you can't rename the files with the extension of their true type (e.g., .jpg for JPEG, .png for PNG, etc.)? That would be easier in the long run. -
Having problems: can't open an html file with textedit to change code
Hi. I have been trying to open up both my index.html and my Welcome.html files with textedit in order to change the HTML codes for them - but it doesn't seem to work. When I open them using text edit I still get a discomboblutaed form of the web page and no html codes. HOWEVER when I open them with Word I can get at the HTML code. Will changing the code in Word work or must I use textedit to do it? ULtimately does anyone know how to fix the fact that your web URL always gets redirected to the home page because of the index file. For Instance, my web site is www.zanzibarhotelbeach.com but when you type that in it redirects to the opening page www.zanzibarhotelbeach.com/Home.html which is a problem for when you want to submit your web site to be found on the net. Any help would be MUCH appreciated! Cheers!
Give TextWrangler a try. It's a free editor by the makers of BBEdit and is very well suited for editing HTML.
But as far as your URL in the window, unless you have URL forwarding with masking you will always get the page name at the end of the URL in the browser's window. That's just how it works. With masking you will only get www.zanzibarhotelbeach.com in every window of the site. BUT visitors will only be able to bookmark the first page of your site. Automator/AppleScript for adding code to an html file

I have a bunch of files (60+) that have been converted from xml to html so that they can be read by the calibre eBook software. Because they were originally .xml files, they do not have opening or closing htiml or body tags. They won't open in Word, only textedit. I am looking for a way to insert the <html> <body> and </body> </html> codes into each file as quickly/painlessly as possible, ideally as a workflow, or series of workflows, that I could use later with other files of this type.
Can anyone advise me on how to do this? I'm new at coding/applescript/automator, but I'm generally a quick study.This is an applescript version which should be a little more comprehensible.

Can you tell me which version of dreamweaver you are using (and flash pro, if you have it), as the code you provided has element of a number of different versions (e.g. your js flash files are reasonably new, but your flash inserted into the html body is old, but with the cs3 version of flash player indicated!). Also the detect flash file is no longer required.
