Dashboard Access & Scroll Wheel

I used to be able to call up Dashboard by depressing the mouse scroll wheel. This procedure no longer works. Any idea as to what may have happened?
The Dashboard, however, remains accessible via Dock icon.

Yes, check in two places....
System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > set the scroll wheel to Dashboard.
AND
System Preferences > Exposé & Spaces > Dashboard > set Hide and Show to Mouse Button 3. You can also assign Dashboard to an F-key here.

  • Can't access widgets with scroll wheel

    I have always been able to access my Widgets by pressing down on the scroll wheel in my mouse.
    Now, suddenly, the widgets don't appear.
    I haven't done anything different to my MBP, except that I upgraded to Snow Leopard.
    I already went into System Preferences/Mouse and also System Preferences/Expose and Spaces but I am unable
    to activate the scroll wheel to open my Widgets.
    Can anyone shed some light on this?
    Thank you!!!

    Hi Chester, I assume you are waiting about minute for the Widgets to load, they take a while when you connect for the first time after a restart, log out or shutdown. If they do not load try this:
    Navigate to ~(yourhome)/library/preferences and trash these 2:
    com.dashboard.client.plist
    com.dashboard.plist
    Then log out and back in or restart. Let us know. (You'll need to reset your Widgets the way you like them).

  • Scroll Wheel button no longer activates the Dashboard

    Hi,
    Just recently my scroll wheel button (a.k.a, The middle mouse button) stopped activating the dashboard when I pressed it and started activating a Windows like scroll function where moving my mouse up would scroll up and moving my mouse down would scroll down. The System Preferences still recognize the Scroll wheel button as being bound to the Dashboard. Any help would be much appreciated,
    Thanks.

    I have the same problem with a nearly new Mighty Mouse. The problem started after I noticed a system slowdown and Activity Monitor showed the Flight Schedule Widget was using 40% of the CPU. I did a force quit on the widget and that triggered a kernel panic.
    Since then clicking on the scroll ball on the Mighty Mouse no longer brings up Dashboard.
    I've run the latest DiskWarrior, fixed permissions, purged caches, restarted, etc. and can't seem to fix the problem. I've also tried a second Mighty Mouse and that does not resolve the issue.

  • "Zoom using scroll wheel while holding" is broken

    Hello,
    Since updating to Mac OS X 10.7 Lion this morning, the "Zoom using scroll wheel while holding" feature is broken.
    In the mouse control panel the checkbox for "Zoom using scroll wheel while holding" is definitely checked. The default Control ^ key is selected. I verified I'm hitting the correct key on the keyboard using the keyboard viewer.
    I've tried using this with 2 finger scrolling on my trackpack as well. I've also tried turning off most of the trackpack geustures.
    I tried searching these forums prior to posting and found replies telling people with various different situations to turn this feature off. I want it on. I use it constantly.
    I have a MacBook Pro Aluminum 13-Inch Mid 2010
    Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (11A511)
    Any advise would be appreciated!
    Thanks.

    Hello. Original poster here. I can confirm a few things after observing for a few days and trying stuff.
    1) The Universal access fixes did nothing. I set & reset those settings til I was blue in the face.
    2) I tried a "Repair Permissions" with the Disk Utility. No luck.
    3) It works intermitently. After sleeping sometimes it works. After plugging into my external monitor sometimes it works on the external monitor but then if I unplug it won't work again. After a reboot somtimes it works, then after sleeping stops working. Kinda strange. When it works it works from both my external USB mouse and the trackpad, so I don't think it's the hardware.
    I don't have Time Machine configured - been using Carbonite, but they're not compatible with Lion so might have to get Time Machine running anyway - but it's not a fix per se, since this oughta work all the time.

  • Scroll wheel not working in Stickies

    I have a Mighty mouse and the scroll wheel does not work in stickies. My old mouse was a MacAlly and the scroll wheel worked in stickies. I have a few stickies that contain a lot of info that I refer to often. I go to the particular stickyand like to scroll up and down to access this info. I can't do that now. What can I do to rectify this situation?

    Known, as in, there are a lot of people asking about it and no one seems to have come up with a solution.

  • Viewing a video (YouTube, etc.) disables the mouse scroll wheel - switch to Opera and scroll on a page, return to FF and wheel is reenabled.

    After viewing a video (usually YouTube, but not exclusively; either directly, or embedded in a web page), the mouse scroll wheel will become disabled. If I then switch over to Opera and use the scroll wheel on any open page, the scroll wheel will be re-enabled upon return to FireFox.

    Important questions:
    What ActiveX control are you using?
    I'm using the PDF activex control to display a PDF on the front panel of my VI.
    What version of LabVIEW are you using?
     I'm using LabVIEW 7.1
    What "control pages" are you talking about?
    The pages of the PDF: it has several pages. If a mouse is held over it the user can scroll using the scroll wheel, or if they right click they can access the Adobe menu.
    It's these that I'd like to inhibit them doing.
    Thanks

  • Overlay an item over an activex control and/ or disabling the mouse scroll wheel

    There seems to be several references in the discussion forum to placing a picture control over an activex item to prevent the activex item being selected etc.
    The thing is, I can't seem to do it: the activex control is always on top, no matter what I do and no matter what control, or decoration I use.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Failing that, is there another way of stopping the user getting access to the activx control?
    Essentially what I want to do is stop them accidentally scrolling through the control's pages with the mouse scroll wheel. I've stopped them accessing the scroll bars, BUT it is still possible to use the scroll wheel unfortunately.
    Something else I tried was a tab control: placing the activex control on a page and then trying to make the page on top transparent. Needless to say that didn't work....

  • Lion broke scroll wheel Razer DeathAdder

    After upgrading to Lion my Razer DeathAdder mouse can't scroll using the mouse wheel. I'm hoping that Razer will release an updated driver, but in the mean time does anyone have any work arounds? Anyone else seeing the same problem? Note: this isn't about the new "backwards" scrolling in Lion. It doesn't scroll at all in any direction on any page or application.
    My only work around so far is to set the scroll directions to be Macros, scroll up = Up Arrow, scroll down = Down arrow. It just works ok but it is certainly not ideal. It doesn't work right in a good many scenarios.

    I forgot to reply to this thread; I figured out what my problem was. In the Driver Application, beneath the button selection, there's an Advanced Mousewheel Options which I hadn't noticed and assumed was just a graphic.  The scroll wheel was set by default to left click when I scrolled up, and right click when I scrolled down.
    In response to HimynameisJoe, in case you misunderstand how it works, here is what you do to program the buttons:
    1. Select the button from the main window area (1 -- 5)
    2. A dropdown menu appears on that button's selection area.
    3. Select whatever setting as which you want it to operate, for example, Primary Click, Secondary Click, Pass-through, Advanced Buttons, Button Off.
    4. If you want to use the 3rd, 4th and 5th as extra buttons for different apps, for example, for FPS games or WoW, then select Pass-through.  This worked for me easily with Snow Leopard, however, I've yet to have it work in Lion.
    5. If you want to use a button for a single key such as F5 or the Fn key, or you want to set a key as a macro, select Advanced Functions.  This will open the pane which I suspect you're having trouble accessing.
    For anyone who's having trouble with the new reversed scrolling and has both a mouse and a trackpad, (such as use of a MacBook) then I have worked out a nice compromise:
    1. Enable the reversed scrolling which allows the iOS-like trackpad scrolling which will make the trackpad really intuitive to use.
    2. Go to the Driver settings for the Deathadder and change the Advanced Mousewheel Options.  Change the the upward scroll motion to Scroll Down and the downward scroll option to Scroll Up.

  • Trying to figure out how to implement the scroll wheel for scrubbing through the final swf animation.

    I have an animation I have created and would like to allow the user to scroll up and down (for forwards and backwards) to control which direction the animation plays and at what rate. I'd also like to have the the animation do nothing if the scroll wheel isn't being manipulated. Here's the code I have so far, but I keep getting errors:
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    function handleMouseWheel(event:MouseEvent):void {
      trace("The delta value is: " + event.delta);
      frame = (clip_mc._currentframe + delta);
         clip_mc.gotoAndStop(frame);
    addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_WHEEL,mouseWheel);
    Appreciate your help!
    I'm pretty new to this and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
    Thanks

    Completely forgot to include my errors. After updating the code:
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    function handleMouseWheel(event:MouseEvent):void {
      trace("The delta value is: " + event.delta);
      frame = (clip_mc.currentFrame + event.delta);
         clip_mc.gotoAndStop(frame);
    addEventListener(MouseEvent.handleMouseWheel,mouseWheel);
    And the errors I'm getting: (with my animation playing from beginning to end)
    Scene 1, Layer 'Actions', Frame 1, Line 6, Column 2
    1120: Access of undefined property frame.
    Scene 1, Layer 'Actions', Frame 1, Line 6, Column 11
    1120: Access of undefined property clip_mc.
    Scene 1, Layer 'Actions', Frame 1, Line 7, Column 6

    Scene 1, Layer 'Actions', Frame 1, Line 12, Column 29

    Scene 1, Layer 'Actions', Frame 1, Line 12, Column 46
    1120: Access of undefined property mouseWheel.
    Apologies for my ignorance. I've been getting into ActionScript and still don't know much at all as I've only touched on programming in the past.
    I really appreciate your help.
    Thanks again!

  • Zen Neeon scroll-wheel constantly scrolls...ide

    My scroll-wheel is stuck. I've tried resetting it several times; I've tried to access the maintainence menu several times, it's not appearing. Is it possible the wheel is damaged/dirty and can be cleaned somehow? It is not visibly damaged/dirty, it glides just as smoothly as ever when pushed in either direction. When the play screen is acti've, the 'rewind' (<<) icon is constantly displayed. When in a menu, the options continuously cycle. Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas? Help is much appreciated with this otherwise great product!

  • Using mouse scroll wheel

    Hi,
    I've set up some buttons on my site to act as a scroll bar (here) and perform as follows...
    on(press) {
         this.onEnterFrame = function() {
              if(content._y < 95.2) {
                   content._y = content._y + 10;
    is it possible to use the scroll wheel of my mouse to do the same thing?
    I'm using Flash MX, so can only publish up to Flash player 6.
    Thanks

    Kglad
    I just coppied the syntax from above for my reply.  My actual syntax has -138.6 rather than 200.
    I've put the syntax into my action script layer on the root level.  When I trace the content._y value, it gives me it's initial position, but when I scroll it doesn't appear to do anything.
    I've not had access to a windows machine to edit my flash for a while, hence me taking so long to reply.
    I've attached what I've done.
    Thanks

  • How Do I Disable/Change Settings on My Scroll Wheel?

    I just downloaded Google SketchUp (a free drafting program) and I constantly need to "grip" the page to rotate and pan along my objects. This is done by clicking in on the scroll wheel and moving the mouse. On my Mac though (as opposed to the PCs at school) it pops up the dashboard screen every time I try this. So my question: How do I disable/change the default settings on my scroll wheel so I can use this program efficiently?
    -I never use the dashboard and can click the little icon if I need to, so keeping shortcut to that isn't an issue, I just want my scroll wheel back!

    I am either in the wrong location or have a different layout than you.
    Apple button > system preferences > keyboard and mouse > mouse tab > then all I have are the options to change the tracking speed, scrolling speed, double-click speed, and which button is required to zoom with the scroll wheel. The only drop-down menu I have on this screen is to select which button + scroll wheel allows me to zoom.
    I am using version 10.5.6. Am I in the incorrect section of this forum?

  • Scroll Wheel no longer works in version 4.4 RC

    My scroll wheel no longer works after installing Lightroom 4.4. In all previous versions, I was able to use my Logitech scroll device to adjust the sliders in the development panel.  In the 4.4 version, the scroll wheel no longer works and instead of adjusting an individual slider, it scrolls the whole development panel up and down. I did uninstall the mouse driver and reinstalled but that did not work. The mouse works just fine in all other programs. I think it is a bug with the 4.4 version. I am operating in Windows 7. Any suggestions for a fix?

  • Why can't I use the scroll wheel in Photoshop CC 2014?

    Hi,
    I have Photoshop CC 2014 on my laptop. It was working perfectly but then I had to reinstall Windows. Once I had reinstalled Windows and Photoshop I discovered that I could no longer use the scroll wheel on my mouse to move around documents in Photoshop. I can't scroll up to move the document up, scroll down to move the document down, use Alt+Scroll to zoom in/out or use Shift+Scroll to move left/right.
    I've looked in the options and the option to use the scroll wheel to zoom is enabled - still not working.
    Any ideas? Tried Googling but can't really find any solutions.
    Thanks all!

    I'm having the same issue. Scroll wheel works fine in all Adobe products besides Photoshop. I've tried reinstalling Photoshop, plugging in the mouse to a different USB port, reinstalling the mouse driver, and restarting my computer multiple times. This bug makes Photoshop practically useless, as everything takes about twice as long to get done.
    I really hope we get a fix for this soon. So far CC has been a huge disappointment, filled with small, productivity-destroying bugs like this one.
