Dashboard builder with SAP BusinessObjects Edge BI 3.1

Hi,
is it possible to install / activate the Dashboard builder with the trial version of the <a href="http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx">SAP BusinessObjects Edge BI 3.1</a>?
I have read a couple of OSS-notes about the Dashboard-builder, but they all describe this feature for BObj Enterprise.
Any help on this?

I have a greyed out button "Dashboards" on the top bar in my InfoView.
There is no server for Dashboards visible in my CCM.
What I do have is a PerformanceManagement.war in my BObj-installation (which I deployed into my TomCat).
Any help on activating the Dashboard-builder with the Edge-BI-trial?

    Would you please explain what is the difference of SAP BusinessObjects BI Suite and SAP BusinessObjects EDGE BI Suite..?

    Key difference:
    Edge BI Suite does not allow you to do clustering of nodes, but the BI Suite does.  This flexibility is restricted in Edge - so it's a single server setup.
    Both SAP BusinessObjects Edge BI and SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise share the same underlying platform and tools.  The difference is that Edge BI is designed and priced for mid-sized organizations, and is therefore licensed differently. 
    SAP BusinessObjects Edge BI is licensed for both named-user licenses and concurrent access licenses (CAL). While named-user licenses are appropriate for users who are active in the system throughout most of the day, the concurrent access license provides an economical way to support casual system users. A single CAL license will typically support 5-10 users, depending on the type of usage they require.
    While Enterprise (BI Suite) can be implemented for unlimited users across multiple servers and includes clustering and failover capabilities, Edge BI is restricted to a single server and a user count more appropriate for mid-sized organizations.
    You can always upgrade to SAP BI Suite if requirement grows and easily migrate all of your BI content including users, groups, reports, dashboards and universes.
    The decision now depends on your investment and the allocated budget. I hope this helps.

    The correct download path is:
    Installations and Upgrades >> Entry by Application Group >> SAP BusinessObjects portfolio >> SBOP DQM FOR SAP SOLUTIONS >> BOBJ DQM FOR SAP SOL. XI3.1
    But it looks like you don't have this entry when you login to SMP. So this means you company's account is not linked to a valid contract from DQM for SAP ERP/CRM. To fix this, you should open a support ticket with the component XX-INT-DATA, this will route your message to the order management/contract team who can figure out what the issue is.

  • Replacing BO Enterprise XI 3.1 with SAP BO EDGE 3.1 standard

    We need to migrate away from large enterprice environment to smaller business unit. BO Enterprise XI is too heavy and expensive to future needs so I am looking for a possible other versions of BO. My knowledge from BO limits to basics on Crystal Reports 2011 and Crystal Server 2011 so I need help.
    This is the information I have from Enterprise
    Data integrator
    ETL tool for importing data to data warehouse
    Design tool for import from different data sources
    SSIS/BO repository
    Repository database for Data integrator
    Tasks for loading of SSIS packages are started from this server
    Plan is to use the same format of data on data warehouse (MS SQL) as well existing universes
    BO Data Integrator XI release 2 is used to create the data werehouse
    I have asked suggestion from a licence dealer and got suggestion to use SAP BO EDGE 3.1 Standard.
    This should have same functionalities. It lack the support for clustering and user amount is more limited.
    New user amount is more or less 5 so it will not be a problem
    Is the EDGE version able to work with already developed data warehouse and imports?

    It's unclear from which exact deployment you're downsizing.
    In the title you're saying Xi3.1 enterprise, but in the body you're talking about Data Integrator Xi R2.
    Which are 2 different versions and 2 diferent products.
    If you're downsizing from Xi3.1 enteprise, you can go to Xi3.1 Edge standard. and it should be relatively painless. If you have single server, you can probably simply change the license key and that's it.
    If you're going from XIR2 DI, you need to migrate to Xi3.1 level Data Integrator first. Can't just switch.
    Xi3.1 Edge has some versions which include Data Integraor as well, I think. Not sure if Edge standard has DI in it or not, you need to double check with the dealer.
    I think there is a Data Services/Data Integrator space here in SCN, where you can get more details on that part of your change.

  • New LinkId with "SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise" database type. Did anybody have such experience?

    In PAS tool, when creating a new LinkId, in the drop-down choice with database types there is an option to choose "SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise". What does it mean to have such a source?
    If I choose this option, will I be able to refer to SAP BusinessObjects universe objects? Or how this is different from typical dabase as source?    

    Hi, the BOE LinkID option is no longer supported in SSM 10 and 10.1. Please refer to SAP note 2021613.

  • When will SAP BusinessObjects Edge 3.2 be released to customer ?

    Hi,
    Is there anybody who has this information ?
    My Japanse customer needs to upgrade from 3.0 to 3.2 to use Data Services XI 3.2  for the new option "Data Alignment" in fixed-width file formats.
    3.0 and 3.1 only supports "character data alignment" but Japansese customer needs "byte data alignment", this option enables it.
    There is no workaround for this problem in 3.0 and 3.1 except for changing source data formats in the source system.

    I understand the Dashboard Builder was changed to BI workspaces.  if I created the layout in dashboard builder in BOEXIR2, do I need to recreate the interface from scratch in SAP BI 4.0 at BI workspaces interfaces?

  • Can we integrate GTS 10.0 with SAP 4.7e

    Hi,
    Presently we are using GTS 7.1 which has plugged to SAP 4.7e.
    Now we are planning to upgrade GTS system to present version which s 10.0.
    Is GTS 10.0 plug in SLL_PI having compatibility with SAP 4.7e?
    Is there any patches need to be apply to integrate GTS 10.0 with 4.7e?

    Hi Subbu: From SAP documents for GTS10.0
    You can connect SAP BusinessObjects Global Trade Services10.0 (SAP SLL-LEG 900 to SAP ERP systems starting at the release of SAP R/3 4.6C (for 4.7 - SLL_PI 900_470) using standard interfaces. The plug-in SLL_PI 900_* provides all the technical functions required for communicating with SAP BusinessObjects Global Trade Services and integrating the processes.
    There are no technical dependencies between upgrades of SLL_PI and SAP BusinessObjects Global Trade Services. If you are installing SAP BusinessObjects Global Trade Services with an earlier release version than the release version of your plug-in version, you can still only use the plug-in functions for the SAP BusinessObjects Global Trade Services release to which the plug-in version corresponds although you might have a more current version of SAP BusinessObjects Global Trade Services installed.

  • BusinessObjects XI3.1 SP4 with SAP BW 7.01 SP9

    Hello all!
    I have the universe which is build on Bex query. When I create a WebI report in Rich Client some values are not coming. I checked the universe, the objects are mapped to the correct BW objects, checked the data in BW cube, data exist.
    In topic BusinessObjects XI3.1 SP2 with SAP BW 7.01  Nargisse resolved this issue, when he applied notes. But in those notes SAP recommend to aplly SP7, although we have SAP BW 7.01 SP9.
    Did anyone have the same issue?

    Before weekend when I used ALL dimensions in query (in WebI) the results have been not predicatable (For example, for one dimension query return 10 rows, for 3 dimensions - 1 row, but must return 30)
    BUT! After a weekend, I have results! I don't know what happened And if I use key column in dimension (in query), I don't get results.

    I'm new at this place, but familiar with SAP BO from projects and usage.
    Anyway, was downloading the SAP BusinessObjects BI, Edge Edition Free Trial on global.sap.com, and then reading the pdf file Master Guide.
    It tells you to follow the Installation Guide. Found a link to that on help.sap.comyet SAP customer cannot download and installing this free trial without first create an account in at service.sap.com. I contacted the scn support, and they advised me to use this place for try to find out.
    My question now is, whether a not-yet SAP customer can find this Installation Guide for the free trial somewhere else?

    In any case, my concerning was rather related to how to accesing such information without any need for have any account. But I personally solved it by register, as we're a SAP partner and having a partner id. But for those tht not have any partner or customer id, then may not so easy to access these files.

  • Scheduling Error occurred with WebI Reports on SAP BO Edge BI XI 3.1 STD

    Hello..
    I'm using SAP BO Edge BI XI 3.1 STD.
    When I schedule the webI Report on Infoview..
    Everytime, it failed..
    And setting the date for scheduling, it is needed to reset the data by calendar( ie. 2009. 07. 20.  -> 2009.07.20.)
    What is the reason of failing schedule in WebI report?
    I know it was a bug on BOE XI 3.1 and had fixed with FP 1.x.
    But SAP BO Edge BI XI 3.1 has no FP yet...
    How can I solve this?
    We must use the schedule on WebI reports for start production service on Aug...
    Please let me know...

    You will have to be on SAP BW 7.01 (SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EHP1) and SAP Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.x in order to integrate and requires the SAP Integration Kit for SAP Business Objects Enterprise.
    Dashboard Builder, while still part of the BOE suite, is somewhat being replaced by Xcelsius which is again a different tool and different licensing.

  • Dashboard Builder integration with BO universe

    Hello,
    I want to find out if we can drill down from one dashboard to another dashboard and then another dashboard in Xcelsius Enterprise.
    I know that we can drill down from one level to another, however there are no examples in it.
    Alternatively, you can drill drown in Dashboard Builder also, and I heard that dashboard Builder also connects to the universe data.  Is it easy to you dashboard Builder instead.
