Dashboard Design 2011 waterfall component

Hi,
Xcelsius 2008 Service Pack 4 (SP4) introduce a new component called Waterfall chart. How about Dashboard Design 2011? Is that any patches ? Thanks.

Hi,
Dont think Xcelsius 2011 (aka Dashboard Design ) supports Waterfall charts.
@Nakul - I think SAP note suggested by you refers to its support in WebI and not Xcelsius.
What I was told by SAP support that it would be available by Q1 2012 release.
However if you have a desperate need to get it in the current version, you could use either Candlesticks chart or Stacked Column Chart to create a similar looking chart - though either is not the best representation, but comes close.
However there are two problems
1. Candlesticks - you will be only able to fill the -ve values & positive values would be empty bars - this is by candlestick design
2. Stacked Column - Comes closer, but a hidden series has to be created with its colour and chart background matching to recreate the bar, but still the outline is slightly visible.
If you need any help in these two methods, do let me know.

  • Problems with Excel xlsx files and Presentation Design 2011

    Hello,
I just began using Presentation Design 2011 and have run into an issue and would really appreciate your help.
I have very large files in Excel 2007 format (.xlsx) that I need to import into Presentation Design.  When I try to do so, it automatically opens the .xlsx file as a 97-2003 Excel file, and in hte process, I then lose a large portion of the data (the file is very large, and the space limitations in 97-2003 are not sufficient for all the data I have, so I receive a message about compatability indicating that the data goes beyond the space limit).
I have tried looking online for a fix to this issue, and I cannot find it.  I just installed the service pack 2 patch 8 file, and this still does not work.
Will someone please let me know what I need to download or do to be able to import the xlsx files and maintain them in that format?
    Thank you!
    Curtis

    Hi Curtis,
In the older version of dashboard design 2011, xcelsius 2008, .xlsx(excel 2007) files are imported and converted automatically to excel 2003 format. So there are some compatiability issues with both versions and also size limitations. excel 2003 cannot have more than 256 columns. I doubt same is the case with new version.
Inside the designer data is in excel 2003 format. So you cannot have data more than the limit and some formats. You should only be pulling in enough data to fill your components in dashboard and remove any unnessary information from the spreadsheet . Since dashboards are meant for summary data, importing very large excels files are not recommended.
    Hope it helps you.

  • Dashboard design supports maps on mobility

    Hi everybody,
I just want to know if there is any way to use maps on mobility with dashboard design, im using the nova theme but its appear the error message "component not allowed"
    Many thanks

    Hi Jesus,
Maps component is not supported on mobile.
Please refer the SAP Note : 1871409 - Supported components/charts/connections on Dashboard for
    Mobile
You could check the mobile compatibility tab in Dashboard designer if any component is supported or not.
Other thing what I can suggest is use image component. Here the image will be a map.
On this map you could place other supported component to display data.
    Hope this helps.

  • Report Server URL field no longer visible in Dashboard Designer after applying SP1 and the October 2011 CU

    Environment: 1 WFE on W2K8Ent x64 SP2 | 1 App Server on W2K8 Standard x64 SP2 | 1 Dedicated SQL Server 2008 R2
    SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition
I recently applied SP1 and the October 2011 CU (Server updates, not foundation) on both the WFE and the App server and now I'm experiencing an issue with PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer in that when I want to deploy a new SSRS report, I no longer have
the ability to indicate the report server url under the report settings section because it's missing.  I also do not have the ability to preview the report nor can I modify any of the settings like Zoom or Format as they're greyed out.
I've been researching for several days now and cannot find anything to remedy my issue. I have reviewed the upgrade logs on both the WFE and App server ... I ran the product config wizard after applying the SP and the update ... Sharepoint is configured
to use Windows Integrated Mode for the reporting services configuration via Central Admin.
I noticed that the web config for my app was updated and compared that against a backup of the old web config and I mainly see diffs in version references for reporting services, etc.  (Ex. version 10 in the old, 11 in the new/updated config file).
Anyone else out there have this same issue?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Chad

Ultimately, I ended up installing SharePoint 2010 RTM on a separate system and then copied the folder with the PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer and put that on my PC at work.  If you open a PerformancePoint report inside SharePoint, it
will default to the version of the update so be sure to open up the designer from wherever you store it on your PC.  You'll know if it's the right one anyways if the URL is missing.
Also, once you've opened the RTM version, this will be the one that opens from the SharePoint shortcut via the Windows Start->All Programs->SharePoint Folder.

  • SAP Dashboard Design Startup Error "Could not load file..."

I am using SAP Dashboard Design Departmental Edition 2011 (currently trial version).
I have created an interactive dashboard with several selectors, graphs, and image components.
I went to open it yesterday, and an error popped up that read "Could not load file. This file may be corrupt or contain features not compatible in this verson of dashboard design."
I went to open it again this morning, and the same error showed up.
I am able to open older versions of this project (for example, a version saved on a previous date), but I receive this error message when I attempt to open the most up to date file.
Any ideas on why this is happening?

Edited by: TylerB on Jul 18, 2011 6:10 PM

    Hi Tyler,
What environment are you running on?
    -OS Version
    -Office Version
    -Flash Player version
It is likely that an issue occured during the last save instance of the XLF, therby corrupting the file.  What you can try to do is install the "debug" version of the Flash Player.  This will hopefully reveal more detailed error messages upon opening the XLF file (eg. actionscript/flex errors).
    Flash Debug Player download: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/10/flashplayer_10_ax_debug.exe
Give this a try and let me know if any additional information pops up.

  • Error installing SAP Presentation Design 2011

I successfully installed Xcelsius Present 2008 trial version and then purchased a registered version of Presentation Design 2011. Key: SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Installer\aurora Value: Path".

It makes no difference whether I do a Side-by-Side Installation or Perform Simple Upgrade.
I am running Windows Ultimate 64 bit and using Office 2007. I'd appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

  • Strange Universe Access Error in Dashboard Design v6.0.0.0 (14,0,0,760)

    Hi Folks
I'm currently evaluating Dashboard Design and Crystal Reports Server 2011. I need to provide a sales dashboard solution that will be displayed in our contact centre environments to aid staff in viewing critical statistics like targets and bonuses. Initially, I wanted to use DD in isolation, but due to the lack of support for embedded ODBC connections (PostgreSQL specifically), I'm having to use CRS 2011 in conjunction in-order provide a necerssary layer for the ODBC connectivity.
The DD software is pretty much WYSIWYG, which is fine, it's straight forward enough. However, when you step into the realms of CRS, things get a little complicated. So, I figure out that in-order to use CRS to provide data to DD, I have to set up these universes which abstract the complexity and structure of the DB, which ultimately makes it more straight forward for the end-user developers - again, this is fine. I've setup a universe using the Information Design Tool - configured a shared connection, added tables in the data foundation and created a business layer, which all seems to be ok.
The problem occurs when I come to access this universe from within DD using the 'Add Query' option. I enter my enterprise server, along with my credentials and then I'm presented with my published universe. However, I then attempt to progress to the next stage (Build Query) and I continually get the same error, which is amazingly unhelpful and vague! [LINK|http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/148/capturemqu.png]
Does anyone have any ideas at all as to how I can begin to troubleshoot this problem and proceed with my testing? I'm not a huge fan of the SAP documentation, but I've followed it as well as I can. It seems to be terribly sparse and slightly brief, which compounds my issue. I've set the universe up properly (I think). What else could be the problem?
Also, when I move between application windows, the Excel element of DD / Xcelsius continually crashes and causes the whole application to crash - is that a common issue? Can't see as I'm doing anything out of the ordinary, which is very strange.
    Thanks for you help!
    Martin

    Hi David
    Thanks for your reply.
The dashboard that I'm setting up won't be accessible by end users as such, it will be displayed on a central 'TV' screen within a sales office environment. We have 3 branch offices, so will require 3 screens in total - non-interactive, it will just continually loop through sales related data. However, the data being displayed will need to be dynamic. So, as sales progress throughout the day, this can be seen on the TV screen / dashboard. Ultimately, this solution is to give our sales teams better visibility of how they are performing against their targets, also with the ability to view sales statistics from the other branch offices.
A primary requirement is for this data to be dynamic and therefore it will require refreshing every 5 minutes or so. In terms of performance impact, the queries are not huge and we have the infrastructure in place to support it, so I'm not worried about that at the moment.
    Thanks again.
    Martin

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you got error - "Cannot download the application..."
