Dashboard - Link to another report

Hello SPM experts,
We have to create a dashboard and the report in dashboard should have a link which will open up another report in a new window. The dimensions/measures and the layout of dashboard report is not same as that of the report which should open when we click the link.
I am aware that if we use a dimension which has hierarchy in dashboard report, we will get links to move to report using the hierarchy. But is there any option to connect two different reports with links?
Best regards,
Prasanna

Hi Prasanna,
Dashboards in SPM can be simply called as a collection of selected reports. It is not possible to click on a particular report (A) in the dashboard and open another related report (B).
In my opinion the best way to handle a situation where in you need to refer to another report (B) based on a primary report (A) would be to use the hierarchial views while creating the dashboard.

• SQL report link to another report

Hello,
I am using Apex 4 and trying to link an sql report with another report. If I were able to use an interactive report I could easily link that to another page, but that would require me to have a primary key. The problem is that I need to link a few tables. So two questions:
1.) Can I link these via an HTML link to my other page? I would have a HTML link in my report that would link via URL parameter passing. So can I use HTML in a report?
2.) What is the syntax for a parameter passing via URL? Here is my link that would be:
a href= f?p=107:40:&APP_SESSION::::P40_NAME:MARK: Are there any other ways to accomplish this?
Thanks,
Mark

I am using Apex 4 and trying to link an sql report with another report. If I were able to use an interactive report I could easily link that to another page
It's easy in standard reports< /a>. (Ignore the "Interactive Report" typo in step 1.)
1.) Can I link these via an HTML link to my other page? I would have a HTML link in my report that would link via URL parameter passing. So can I use HTML in a report?You can, but it's better practice to keep data retrieval and HTML structure separate when possible—in this case by using declarative Column Links.
2.) What is the syntax for a parameter passing via URL?This is also covered in the documentation.
Here is my link that would be: a href= f?p=107:40:&APP_SESSION::::P40_NAME:MARK:
{quote}
That looks to have the order of the parameters correct, but it's missing some syntax:...
The static text exact substitution method of referencing the value of an APEX item requires a terminating dot ("."): &APP_SESSION.

• Link from a report to another report

Hi all,
I have created a report called GROUPS with GROUPNO as the first column. And I have another report based on SQL query that shows the details for a group and takes the GROUPNO as an input variable. I have created a link from the first report to the second report.
The problem is that when I run the first report, and when I click on the GROUPNO from the list of groups, the target report is called but no rows are selected. When I point the mouse cursor to one of the GROUPNO, and I look at the breowser status bar, I see that the p_arg_names containts the parameter name but the p_arg_values is empty.
Any help?

Hi Sharmila,
The mapping is already done and the p_arg_names in the status bar shows the p_arg_names=groupno , only the p_arg_values is not taking the value in the field groupno which cause the target report to fail.

• Link to another data source or report

Hi Everyone,
I am using Analysis Office for Excel for Reporting.
Is there a way to show a link in my output that points to another report.
Regards,
Vivek

Hi Vivek
Probably this might help:
Right click on the cell - where you want to enable the hyperlink
select the Link to section and then select the required sheet on which you want to jump, say for example you want to jump from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2 then select sheet 2 and mention the cell reference i.e when some one click the link on sheet one then on sheet 2 the referenced cell will be selected by default.
For more detail you can also refer http://www.extendoffice.com/documents/excel/958-excel-hyperlink-to-sheet.html

• Report with select list and link to call another report

Hi,
I am trying to do 2 reports (REPORT1 and REPORT2).
The first is a summary report (REPORT1).
This report will display sales figures for the year. Now, I need to have a select list in the result set that will have 2 options, depending on which option is chosen, I want to call REPORT2 with the select list as a parameter. How can I do this ?
Let me try to explain what I did.
I created REPORT1 on Page 100
SELECT YEAR, sum(YTD_SALES), APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST(1,'DEPARTMENT','Department;DEPARTMENT,Division;DIVISION') Drilldown FROM SALES_ANALYSIS WHERE YEAR > 2000
GROUP BY YEAR ORDER BY YEAR
I created 2 hidden items namely P100_YEAR and P100_DRILLDOWN
I also made the column YEAR as a link and specified both P100_YEAR and P100_DRILLDOWN as parameters to be passed.
Next, I created REPORT2
SELECT YEAR, DECODE(:P100_DRILLDOWN, 'Department', department, 'Division', Division) dept_div, sum(YTD_SALES) ytd_sales
FROM SALES_ANALYSIS
WHERE YEAR = :P100_YEAR
When I run Report 1, it's fine, when I choose either Department or Division from the Select List and click on the link to call Report 2, report 2 is displayed, but the value being passed for P100_DRILLDOWN is not correct and as a result, I am unable to get correct results for Report 2
Am I missing something ? Are there any alternate ways to do what I'm doing ?
Thanks,
Ashok

Hi Ashok,
The link definition will not know the value selected in the list as it is constructed only when the page is being rendered. You would need to create some javascript to handle this. I've done that here: [http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=267:182]
The link on the EMPNO column has been defined in the HTML Expression setting for the column instead of the Link section. The HTML Expression that I have used is:
<a href="#" onclick="javascript:doDrilldown('#EMPNO#',this);">#EMPNO#</a>And, in the page's HTML Header setting, I have added in:
<script type="text/javascript">
function doDrilldown(empno,group)
var g;
var p = group.parentNode;
while (p.tagName != "TR")
p = p.parentNode;
var x = p.getElementsByTagName("SELECT");
if (x.length > 0)
g = x[0].value;
var url = "f?p=&APP_ID.:183:&SESSION.::::P183_EMPNO,P183_GROUP:" + empno + "," + g;
document.location.href = url;
</script>When a link is clicked, the doDrilldown function is called passing in the EMPNO value and the "this" object (which identifies the object triggering the call). The function starts from that object and goes up in the HTML tag tree to the nearest TR tag (the row tag that the link is on) and then finds the first SELECT list item on the row and gets its value. It then constructs a URL using this and the EMPNO value and performs a redirect to the second page (page 183 in this example).

• Deleting Dashboard Links

Hi,
We are using Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition v10.1.3.4. In the OBIEE Answers, on the Oracle Interactive Dashboards Page, in addition to the "My Dashboard" link, we can also see the following four links:
1. 00 Overview
2. 01 Ranks & Toppers
3. 02 History & Benchmarking
4. 03 Tiering & Distribution
Now, we do not want our users to see the above four links.
Can we go ahead and delete the corresponding folders for these links from the location:
C:\OracleBIData\web\catalog\samplesales\root\shared\sample+sales\_portal
Or is there any better way of doing this (so as to ensure that nothing else in the application breaks up!)
Any help is much appreciated.
Best Regards,
Piyush

hi,
This is another option:
1. Edit the OracleBI\OracleBIData\web\config\instanceconfig.xml
2. Change the CatalogPath to other name
After:
<CatalogPath>C:/OracleBI/OracleBIData/web/catalog/samplesales</CatalogPath>
Before:
<CatalogPath>C:/OracleBI/OracleBIData/web/catalog/mynewcatalogname</CatalogPath>
3. Save & Restart the services.
Note: This option create a new catalog and is usefull when you need to create this. But whit this steps you are unable to access to pages, links and reports in the old catalog.

• Creating Hyperlink to Another Report in Same Document

Hi
Is it possible to create a hyperlink from a cell in one report, to another report in the same WebI document, that doesn't involve the entire reloading of the document.
Also, I want to be able to pass through a filter value.
The reason for the request is we have a report which list certain information about an article. The 2nd report (still in the same WebI document) lists all sorts of other information about the article. The 2nd report contains a lot of information about the article, which doesn't make sense including in the 1st report.
I can create a hyperlink on the article number, which uses the OpenDoc functionality to reload the report and navigate to the 2nd tab (report). If the article number is provided as a prompt on the query, then the data is filtered according to the selected article. That works, but it is not nice, as the report has to reload, and when you click on the tab to go back to the 1st report, that article prompt has been applied there as well.
To get rid of that last error, we could conceivably create 2 queries, 1 for each of the reports, and only have the article input prompt on the 2nd query ... getting messy though.
I would prefer to pass the article number and have that applied to the filter on the 2nd report ... doesn't seem possible in OpenDoc format though, unless I just can't find the querystring parameter to use.
Is there not a way of linking to the tab, without reloading the whole document?
Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
try getting the parameters to be displayed in a cell and use the parameter lsS or lsM(for multiple values) and pass the parameters to report 2 using openDoc.
The document here lists the options with openDoc, might be helpful otherwise

• Links in Discoverer Reports

I am new to Discoverer Reports so i want know, how to implement links in discoverer reports, I have two worksheets/links/pages in a
Discoverer Report, in the first worksheet/page some data will be displayed,
i want to display links for a particular column, if i click on the column value/cell value, it should take me to another page/worksheet with the column value
/cellvalue as parameter to the next page/link.
Provide me a solution for creating this discoverer report.
Thanks,
Manju.

Manju,
I'm not sure which version of Discoverer are you using. If you are using Discoverer 10gR2 then you can follow these steps fot that. I'm assume you want to show header(Eg; PO) information on one sheet and when user click on it you want to show the (PO)line information. Taking the PO report as example follow these steps in discoverer plus.
Create 2 worksheets with the necessary information.Keep the PO Number in both the sheets. Select PO Number then goto Tools-->Manage Links and select the destination workbook and sheet. Give a name to the link. This will give you the information you need but will still show you line level information for all the PO's. Create a condition in both sheets for PO Number go back to edit link and the parameters button is enabled select the PO# parameter there. Hope this helps.

• How to use "Another Report Object" in hyperlink

Hi,
I have a requirement to create a hyperlink which will navigate that link to another page of the same report.
When I click on the option "Another Report Object" I get few fields like Object Name and Data Context?
Does anyone has idea how to do this?
Thanks,
Hetal

Hi Hetal,
This feature works only in the HTML Preview or in InfoView.
Here's what you need to do:
1) Copy the field that would be the target (Right click the field > Copy)
2) Right click the field that would act as the source and select Hyperlink
3) Cick on the Paste button which fills in all the required information
Hope this helps!

• Drill through to another report with bins in OBIEE 11g

Hi Everyone,
We have a specific scenario that is as follows:
Bar chart with 3 bars: '0-30', '31-60' and 'other'
these bars repsent the number of people who are in that age bucket.
This was accomplished by taking the peron's Age (a dimension with an age column) and using the 'bin' option in obiee 11g answers.
When the user clicks on one of the bins in the bar chart (e.g. 0-30), it should navigate to another report which contains details (a table) of ONLY the people who are in that age bucket.
In order do this I created the same 'age bucket' in the drilll through report and set the field as prompted.
This works in OBIEE 10g but in OBIEE 11g when I click the 'bin' (e.g. 0-30) on the top report, it navigates to the other report via action link and displays ALL of the people, not just the people in the bucket 0-30.
Can anyone advise?
P.s. if I remove the bin for the age bucket, and display the actual age, the drill down works fine. I think the issue is specific to the bin feature. I am using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.4

Just confirmed with Oracle this is bug 13996544 . FYI just incase it helps anyone

• Link from BIP report to P6RiskModule

A client of mine is running BI Publisher 11g. In BIP they have a report summarizing the risk against a project. This report is displayed in a BIP Dashboard. The client would like a link in the report that would take them directly to the P6RiskModule. The usernames and passwords for BIP and P6 are identical, so ideally the link should log the user into P6 and display the risk details as entered in P6.
Can anyone assist?

if you are on 11.1.1.6 version you can do it i think .

Enhancements to Parameter Display Options
Enhancements to parameter display options include:
Support for radio button and check box display of values
Parameters that are defined as a menu in the data model can now be configured to display the menu options as a list of radio buttons or check boxes. Parameters configured to support one value support the option to display as radio buttons. Parameters configured to support multiple values support the option to display as check boxes.
New options for placement of parameters in the report viewer
Previously the report viewer always displayed the parameters in a horizontal region across the top of the viewer. In this release the display of the parameter region can also be configured in one of the following ways:
In a vertical region along the right side of the viewer
As a dialog
As a separate full page
New report viewer action button to show or hide parameters
This release adds an action button to the report viewer to enable users to hide or show the parameter region. This enhancement complements the new parameter display options. When report parameters are configured to display as a dialog or in a separate full page, the parameter display region is dismissed when the viewer displays the report. Use the Parameters button to redisplay the parameter region to make new selections.
Search added to menus
All parameter menus having more than a specified number of options provide a Search option. For more information, see Section 3.3.1.1, "The Parameter Search Dialog."
Option to remove the Apply button
Reports can now be configured to remove the parameter Apply button. In these reports the action of selecting a new parameter value automatically reruns the report.

• Raw by raw contitional link in interactive report

hi all,
i need an I.R. to show, or not, in a column always visible a link to another page.
For example, i want an IR to show a list of records and some of these (not all) could be modified. So i need a column with dynamic content where to put a link to the modifing page.
I've tried with properties "LINK" e "CONDITIONAL" for report region and for specific item with no success.
I've also tried to add in IR's query a text column with HTML tag <a href=.....> (i.e. select decode(exp, 0, null, '<a href=.....>') from ... ) but this is shown in report as a text not as a URL
Any help ?
Thanks in advance.
Roberto

For those interested, this is my solution.
In query of I.R. i get a string with html code for my anchor where i use DECODE to get or no html tag (i.e. SELECT DECODE(expr1, 0, null, '<a href=.....>') mylink FROM TABLE....).
I've used APEX_UTIL.PREPARE_URL function to get a string in a good format for URL in href property.
Next, in IR's column property for link column i putted #MYLINK# in html value.
Remember to set number page to link, also if the number page is in string prepared by SELECT.
That's all. Now in my IR i have raws with link to other page only if condiction used in DECODE is true, otherwise i get a null value for that raw....
I'm not sure this is the best solution, but it's works fine for me.
Bye.

• BLOB content download link on apex report

Hi Guys,
I have a simple form where user can attach file and save the records. I iterate through wwv_flow_files and get the file and save it to a custom table which has BLOB column. On another report page i display uploaded file details. What i need is, there must be a column with download link when user clink the link appropriate file should be downloaded. How can i do this ?
Really appreciate if someone can assist me on this.
Thanks Guys.

See About BLOB Support in Forms and Reports.
There's an OBE tutorial that followed the introduction of declarative BLOB support in 3.1 as well. (An earlier version but it is still relevant to APEX 4.x.)
(Please make an effort to consult the documentation and thoroughly search the forum for previous coverage of a topic. This is a much discussed question.)

• How to add a "custom" link to a report column

I have a "Tasks" report that is based on a view. the view is a union of 2 tables: "Project tasks" and "Non-project tasks", each one of them has its own form to enter the data.
I need to add a link from my report to to either form of the mentioned tables. So, if the task is project related, it should go to the "Projects Task" form, but if the task is no related to projects, the link should point to the second form.
How can I accomplish that in Apex 4.0 ?
Thanks

The view has a column for project name, if it was a non-project task, the column is defaulted to "Non-Project"Add another column to the report query (or to the view if it's a Wizard report), based on that column:
case project_name
when 'Non-Project' then '201' /* Page ID of non-project task form */
else '202' /* Page ID of project task form */
end form_page
...Then add a link to the required report column as described above by Alan, setting the target Page attribute to #FORM_PAGE#, the Name attribute of the task ID parameter to P#FORM_PAGE#_TASK_ID (the form pages will need to take task ID parameters following this naming convention), and the Value attribute to the task ID column from the view.
