Dashboard Performance slow.

Hi All,
We have created a Dashboard, with adding a tab which is based on simple infoview report.
One dashboard contains such 6-7 infoview reports. While clicking on any one of the tab, the infoview reports almost takes more
then 10-15mins to just open the report.
The same report when we try to open it from Public Folder, the same report hardly takes a minute to open.
How should I trace where is the problem in dashboard. The Performance of the Dashboard is crashed.
Can anybody have any idea, how should this issue be analysed.
Apprecaite quick response
Thanks

No I am not using Live Office. Whenever I create a Corporate Dasboard I select one infoview report from Corporate Analytics.
This is report is a infoview report available in Public folders also as well as scheduled also.
The same report i linked it up in the Corporate Dashboard. The size of the report is not too big. its small, few month the same
dashboard used to take 20-30 sec to open a sub-tab i.e. the infoview report from the dashboard, now it is taking 10-15 mins...
Whats going wrong from backend? The Performance has crashed.
Thanks.

  • Query performance slow

    Hi Experts,
    Please clarify my doubts.
    1. How can we know the particular query performance slow in all?
    2. How can we define a cell in BEx?
    3. Info cube is info provider, Info Object is not Info Provider why?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    1. How can we know the particular query performance slow in all?
When you run the query it's take more time we know that query is taken more if where that query is taking more time you can collect the statics.
like Selct your cube and set BI statics check box after that it will give the all statics data regarding your query.
DB time (Data based time),Frent end Time (Query), Agrreation time like etc. based on that we go for the perfomance aggreations, compresion, indexes etc.
    2. How can we define a cell in BEx?
In Your Bex query your using two structures it's enabled. If you want create the different formulate by row wise you go for this.
    3. Info cube is info provider, Info Object is not Info Provider why?
        Info object also info provider,
when your info object also you can convert into info provider using " Convert as data target".
    Thanks and Regards,

  • IMac OS X performing slow/hangs

My iMac system is performing slower than expected and often hangs. I often wait up to a minute for the next action to happen, while the little cursor sits and spins. What to do? Frustrating.
    System specs that seem pertinent:
4G memory (2 slots taken; 2 slots free)
storage report says 176G free out of 499G
    OS X, 10.8.2
    Thanks, Apple community.

Most often this indicates you are running to many applications concurrently for the amount of physical RAM you have installed. It may also mean you have a crashed process:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
While Activity Monitor is open click on the System Memory tab in the bottom portion of the AM window. Use COMMAND-SHIFT-4, use the crosshairs to select this portion of the AM window, then use the Camera icon of this message composition window to post the image here.

  • Dashboard Performance - Very Very Very Slow

Hi everyone, I would like to take some suggestions regarding the performance of Dashboard Pages.
This is our first OBI project and were running into several performance issues. So far everyone in the team focused mostly on the functionality of the dashboard pages and we were happy to see it work as expected.
But the biggest problem right now is the performance.
When we log into the OBI, it takes at least 10 minutes to log in. We see this message... "Logging in please wait"
Once we log in and click on the Dashboard, it takes another 5 to 10 minutes to show the first page.
The pages we have in Dashboard have more than 60 answers requests (Guided Navigation) and about half a dozen Prompts (Constrained). Call it as a poor architecture or design plan, but this is what we wanted from a functionality and business stand point.
Are there any specific areas on the Physical Server that we can focus to upgrate stuff like RAM, CPU usage, etc........ to improve the overall performance of the Dashboard?
Everytime we report the poor performance to our Windows Team, we get the same answer that the CPU usage from their eyes is very normal by the OBI stuff. They inturn asking us what are the log files or areas they need to check to grant more CPU usage for OBI.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sai

    Hi David,
Here are my answers for your questions earlier:
    1. How many users are running this dashboard at the same time?
3-5 right now. But once this stuff is completly done, it will be accessed by at least 1000 external clients.
    2. What is the database?
    Oracle 10.2.0.4.0
    3. Have you changed any config parameters?
All defaults except turned on “Execute queries asynchronously” yesterday
    4. The defaults are rarely okay for some of them. You need to look at the connection pool(s) settings. How many max connections?
    10
    5. Is pool sharing on?
    “Connection pooling enabled”
    6. Is multithreaded on?
    Yes
    Also, David regarding
"Users having to wait at login often means that connections or threads are gated on the OBI server. You may need to bump up SERVER_THREAD_RANGE (try 500_500) and DB_SERVER_THREAD"
Where do we do this. I mean, where can i find this attributes ????
    Thanks

  • Oracle Report Performance Slow

I have a report which extracting the data from few complex queries and most of the tables that this report using are large tables.
The problem I'm facing is the entire application become very very slow/hang whenever this report being runned.
I have index all the necessary fields and process the report using those indexed field but still can't help.
Is there anyway to improve the performance? Will it help if I combine all the queries into one query?
How about the Database? any configurations can be set?
    Regards,
    Cheong

The execution of the query doesn't depend on Reports, it is done in the database. So, check your query using the normal performance tuning tools.
If just your report is slow (i.e. not the query) it could be because you have extensive formatting in your report. Formatting is done by Reports, not by the database. Try to do as much formatting in the query.

  • AWR - Database Performance Slow

If my Whole Database Performance is slow,
running AWR report include current time statistics when the DB Performance is slow ?

The default AWR Snapshot Interval is 1 hour. So, if you have the default implementation, you will be able to create an AWR report for the period 10am to 11am. It will not reflect what or why "slowness" occurred at 10:45. The statistics in the AWR report will be a summation / averaging of all the activity in the entire hour.
You could modify the Snapshot Interval (using dbms_workload_repository.modify_snapshot_settings) to have Oracle collect snapshots every 15minutes. But that will apply after the change has been made. So, if you have a slowness subsequently, you will be able to investigate it with the AWR report for that period. But what has been collected in the past at hourly intervals cannot be refined any further.

  • Performance (slow) and (maybe) problems doing the troubleshooting steps

I had noticed Time Machine backups taking longer and having more of a performance hit when they were happening, so I decided to check things out.
Based on some forum postings, I decided to try some of the steps outlined in the main "troubleshooting" thread.
Bottom line: I ended up at the Repair/Verify Disk step (A5) in the troubleshooting steps and since I'm using a Time Capsule, proceeded with (trying) to run a repair on the sparse bundle. Opened things up, but when I tried to " . . . mount the sparse bundle by opening the TC in the Finder and double-clicking on the sparse bundle" things seemed to hang.
I have a window indicating it is opening the sparse bundle (name seems correct), but it has been doing this for over half an hour without any visible progress. All I have is a process bar and "Checking Volumes..." (I do have cancel & skip as options.)
I'm loath to cancel or skip as it is possible that taking this long is normal.
Can anyone give me an idea how long to expect this to take and/or if it won't open properly, suggest a next step to try?
    Thanks in advance,

Also, the first attempt took almost 8 hours(!) and didn't detect any errors.
I see, re: reset. I'm pretty much in agreement that it's beginning to look like deleting the sparse bundle and just letting time machine take over (i.e. starting from scratch) is looking like the main option.
I guess on one level, I'm back to the strangeness of my "problem." Everything, other than being really slow (including the disk utility check), seems to be working. On one level, I am paranoid that there is indeed a problem and worry that if I just ignore it, it will come back to bite me if I ever actually need to restore from the backup.
    Thanks again,

  • Dashboard Performance Issue

    HI Ingo,
Thanks a lot for the wonderful postings in SDN and for your blogs on SAP BI/BO Solution architecture.
I  am looking for few clarifications on SAP BO Xcelsius Dashboards.
Though I know limitations on component number and data volumes which could badly affect performance of the dashboard, We do have a requirement to handle huge data volumes and multiple components. For drilling down and complete analysis for the users. Our source data lies in SAP BI system and we are using BICS connectivity/ Webi with Live office for updating data in Xcelsius.
Our requirement is too complex where we should be in a position to meet user expectations for complete multidimensional analysis by different criterion.
We have scenarios like, Delivery performance where we need to get Case fill rate, Line fill rate, OTIF (On Time In Full),  etc .along with that alerts and based on that we should be providing short term, long term and medium term analysis.  (also we have scenarios from Sales, Inventory , Supply chain which are interlinked to each other).
    Here are my questions,
    1.     Is there any way to provide complete functionality using large data sets to the users with the current architecture without any performance issues?
    2.     Are there any third party tools which can be used with Xcelsius for the performance improvement and handling huge volumes?
    3.     Do you suggest any alternate solution for complete functionality?
    Awaiting your response.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Paramesh Kumar Bada

    hi,
Generally, it would be better to display summarized information in Xcelsius.
So at database/Source level, maintain aggregated information which will serve as input to Xcelsius.
You can use Crystal Reports and Xcelsius together.
Because Crystal reports has the capability of embedding Xcelsius components within the report.
So Charts can be built using Xcelsius and embed in Crystal. whereas Table related content can be developed within Crystal report directly. Also, try to provide URLs(Open Document concept) from Xcelsius to Crystal reports to drill-down from  Summary data to detailed data.

  • PSE performance slow

PSE 8, Windows XP, 2Gb memory
    Symptoms
Takes quite some time for thumbnails to generate or for larger
If I select several thumbnails and type a tag name into the tags search box, it can take up to 15 seconds for the tag results to be displayed
There could be several factors at play
    Older PC
I have an older Dell Inspiron running XP. Having said that it is still an Intel 1.8GHz with Hyperthreading and 2Gb memory. When I notice the slow performance I do not see excessive CPU, nor memory consumption. The FSB I think is 667Mhz
    Images are on external NAS
I have a ReadyNas Duo (v1) that is ethernet cabled to my router which is ethernet cabled to my PC. Everything is at 100Mb. I have 2 1Tb drives in X-Raid. When generating thumbnails I do see network activity, but not when tagging. I've never seen the network monitor go over about 50%. The catalog is on local disk.
    Older modem/router
I have a Linksys WAG200 modem/router. I do see a lot of activity over the ports when I'm working.
    Solutions?
I'd like some considered suggestions. Sure I could replace everything but then I wouldn't have learned anything.
I'm wondering whether bringing all the photo's off the NAS into local disk would be an advantage. As a side issue I backed up the catalog recently, and while the folders with the catalog didn't seem that big, the process was something like a 30Gb backup which seemed ridiculous and took about half an hour to write (to the NAS). I'm assuming it was the thumbnails but I don't need to back those up as if I have a catastrophic failure I'm quite happy to let it chug away during recovery and regenerate the thumbnails. Not like I have to do it every week... Anyway if I brought the images into local storage I'd then have to schedule backups to the NAS regularly but that's OK...
I'm wondering whether the old Linksys gateway is a bottleneck and since I have several other Netgear devces about the place whether upgrading to a gigabit Netgear gateway would do any good.
PC. I'll have to upgrade anyway in which case I'd go for i7, gigabit ethernet, video card. I'm not entirely convinced that the PC is the major problem though...
    Any help appreciated...

    Hi,
The activity is slower in case of network media involved. Bringing your media into local disk would make your Organizer faster.
The size of backup folder is inclusive of media file size, catalog file, thumbnail cache etc. Hence it would not just be thumbnails. Also taking backup would be faster for non-network drives.
I would suggest you to try Organizer with media on non-network drives. That should solve majority of your issues.

  • System performance slow

Here recently my mac has been running really slow, any suggetion as to how to resolve this issue?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • System performance slow - vanishing wallpaper

My G5 seems to be experiencing a performance slowdown but it passes any diagnostic test that I perform. Lately it has been misbehaving when asked to handle graphicly complex applications such as iPhoto and Photoshop. It also "forgets" my wallpaper and reverts to the standard blue background after closing a graphically complex application.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
I can probably nail the wallpaper problem down to bad preference file for the 'desktop picture' as it is known on the MacOS. Bin the file "com.apple.desktop.plist" which is found in your User folder: [hard disk root]/Users/[your User folder name]/Library/Preferences/
As for the slowdown/lack of performance, it could be due to either the application itself is inherently slow with underpowered Macs (see app's minimum specs). Or, if your Mac is up to the task performance wise, it may to do with lack of System volume's hard disk space, which will effect the virtual memory file which MacOS X uses all the time if you don't have enough real memory available. Max'ing out your RAM for the Mac will boost performance on any app that requires loads of memory.
