Dashboard prompt view customization

Hi,
Is it possible customize multiselect box style in dashboard prompt - change size of the box, number available options per page, color and etc?
Thanks in advance

I think this requires to create a new css style in {OracleBI}\web\app\res\s_oracle10\b_mozilla location , but I cannot figure out which file should I refer for the mentioned problem. I am using OBIEE version 10.1.3
Any guidance would be really helpful.

  • Issue filtering a report (based on narrative view) with a dashboard prompt.

I used HTML and java-script codes in narrative view to solve the issue of "linking different reports on selecting values from a drop-down". A new issue has cropped up due to that implementation. The issue is that i can't attach a dashboard prompt to such a report. This means, when i put this report on a dashboard page with a dashboard prompt to help filter the report, the report does not gets filtered (it does not seems to be connected to the dashboard prompt).
Has anyone faced this issue before? If yes, please let me know how to tackle it at the earliest.

  • Row limit in Dashboard Prompts - OBIEE 11g?

    Hi,
In dashboard prompts values are shown as sets of 256 and I know it can be customizable but my question is..."Is there any limit on records to extract as we have it in Analysis"? If yes, what is the max limit and where to configure this?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Nagireddy, thanks for your reply.
Is there any limit of values to extract in Dashboard prompt? i.e. when you use drop down list as Dashboard prompt, is there any limit of values to extract from database?
In my local environment (instanceconfig.xml), there is limit of Rows to View and Download set to 20K, however I did not see anything related to the Dashboard Prompt.

  • Issue in Dashboard Prompt of OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
I had recently migrated from OBIEE 10g to OBIEE 11g.
I had found that there are lot of things which were working on OBIEE 10g are not working in OBIEE 11g.
    For Eg:
I have scenario where i have 2 dashboards with different dashboard prompts.
    - *1st Dashboard*: I have prompt with 4 columns Year, Month, Qtr and Week. I can filter the data based on the selection of prompt.i.e Summary Report showing all KPIs and when clicked on the any of the KPI it goes to Below report which shows the graphical view of past weeks data.
    - Report: Here i show all the week Ids in the Graph format and when clicked on the any week id it navigates to 2nd Dashboard(below) with appropriate week populated in the prompt and show the detailed records.
    - *2nd Dashboard*: I have prompt with 5 columns Year, Month, Qtr, Week and Day of the Week with some detailed report. Here the only Week Id should be pre populated and show data based on the week id selection in the above report.
The issue here in OBIEE 11g is, The month Id which was selected in 1st Dashboard prompt is also getting pre populated into the 2nd dashboard prompt. Which should not happen.
Note: This was working fine in OBIEE 10g.
Is there any way to fix this issue in OBIEE 11g.

    Shyam

    Hi Bala,
    Thank you for your response.
I had tried that and resolved my problem but it was impacting other reports i.e
I have other reports in 1st Dashboard with different tabs, Here i want the prompt value to be persisted across the reports in same dashboard so that when i go to other tab with in same dashboard the prompt value should be pre-populated and the data should be filtered against that.
Now if i change the scope to page then i will be loosing this functionality.
It was working on OBIEE 10g and i lost this after migrating to OBIEE 11g.
Can you please help me in this regard.

  • Resetting Selection from a Multi-Select Dashboard Prompt in OBIEE 11g

    Hi all,
I have a dashboard prompt, containing 3 columns which all are set to allow multi selection and default value is all values.
In 10g, after choosing some values in one of the prompt and clicking Go button, I can manually remove all my selection to reset it back to the default value (which is all values).
In 11g, however, I am not able to find how to do it. The reset button doesn't reset back to the default value (which is all values). So what I have to do is to use the "Clear All Customization", which will clear all my selection for all the prompts.
Any suggestion on how to do this? Thanks in advance!

Hi Deepak, actually I don't need any script to do that in 10g.
It's a built in feature in 10g. If you remember, for multiselect prompt in 10, we will click the "..." button to show the box for value selection. Then we can move values from left box to the right to include them, or vice versa to not include them. So by moving the values from right box to the left, I essentially revert to default value which mean all values will be shown.
In 11g, this box is not shown anymore, instead we are checking the values one by one from a drop down list.
    Any suggestion? Thanks.

  • Changing 'All Column Values' in dashboard prompt

In OBIEE 11g, how to modify the dashboard prompt All label value? I do not want to change value in XML file , because it will impact all dashboard prompt value.
Is it there better method to implement this problem?
    For example:
In dashboard prompt-->edit -->options--->tick 'Include "All Column Values" choice in the list', so I can view '(All Column Values)' value in prompt. Customers want to changed this value, such as 'all values'. Is it possible? Thanks.

    Hi,
Can do it using Union All is prompt SQL and presentation variable in report.

  • Calculation based on Dashboard prompt

    Hi,
How to calculate numerical values based on dashboard prompt values
Ex if we select 'N' from prompt it should divide numerical value in the request by some other measure else default value.
    Thanks
    Suresh

    Hi...
If your question is that, solution provided by naresh, then... small correction (not exactly correction... but my view...)
    *CASE WHEN upper('@{VAR}')='N' THEN your measure ELSE '@{VAR}{ +default value+ }' END*
upper function is used.. if your prompt has editbox control and enter small n or capital.... don't worry... as it converts to upper and checking for capital N only...
Here VAR is presentation variable name you have given...
'@{VAR}{ +default value+ }' is variable name with the default value i.e. there in your dashboard prompt if you have specified...
    Ex: *'{@var_region}{CENTRAL REGION}'*
Naresh post is.. really helpful to you... i hope...

  • Column hiding based on Dashboard Prompt value in OBIEE 10g

    Hi,
Can you please let me know, whether there is any possibility of "hiding the column based on the value selected in the Dashboard Prompt".
    Your suggestions are highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards
    Siva

    Hi,
    Simple way to solve it.
    Steps
1.) set presentation variable for each columns of your dashboard prompt
2.) edit your analysis of table/pivot view ---> colums formate header in this place just keep it your presentation variable values like below
    E.x
    @{ccy}
Then save it and then test out

  • Constraint not working in OBIEE 10G Dashboard prompt

    Hi All,
We are facing a issue in constraint in dashboard prompt.
We have two database tables Employee and Calender. Both are joined through time_id key.
We have made a report from coloumns of both.
We have made dashboard prompt consisting of 3 coloums i.e.
    Month-YEAR,
    Week Ending,
    Shift Date
First two are from same employee table and Shift date is from calender.
Both dimensions are also in Awnsers as it is.
All 3 prompts are multiselect. Constraint box is checked in all.
Issue is that, When I select a Month-Year in prompt, Corresponding 4 or 5 weekendings comes in multiselect box.
But when i select a week ending from here, i don't get corresponding Seven dates for that particular week.
Instead all shift dates available there in calender table comes in multiselect.
Does constraint don't work on coloums of different dimensions or tables?
Any body , Please reply with a possible solution.
    Regards,
    Apurv Mishra

    Thanks @786372 for your response..
But, If we will make view for those coloums , then how can we apply ''Is Prompted" for prompted coloum in our report filters.
As per my understanding, to make ''Is Prompted '' work , Fx (coloum formula) should be same in report and prompt.
So, how can we create a different view only for prompt.
We may use presentation variable to make above work, i won't be able to create multi-select prompt.
    Regards
    Apurv

  • Passing Dashboard Prompt values to different dashboard.

    Hi All,
I want to pass the selected prompt values from my current dashboard to a different dashboard. I am using a navigate function to go to the other dashboard.
    The scenario is:
I am using a column formulae to navigate to the different dashboard. The column formulae written is:
    case when rank ("Table".column ) <=10 then cast(rank ("Table".column) as char(10)) else ''||'+'|| '' END
In this scenario, the dashboard prompts are not get passed to the other dashboard.
In other case when I do not customize the column as stated above and in the Column Property just give a 'Navigate' in the Value Interaction it passes the prompt values to the other dashboard.
Similarly can we do something in the column formulae or using something else to pass on the dashboard Prompt values to the other dashboard.
Please Note that the dashboard Prompts in both the dashboards are exactly same.
    Regards,
    Bhavik

    Bhavik,
Your nearly there, simply extend your URL syntax and pass the colum values with it, see here :
    http://sureshotstrategies.wordpress.com/2008/12/13/integrating-oracle-obiee-content-using-go-url-syntax-2/
    e.g
    http://webserver/analytics/saw.dll?Go&Path=%2Fshared%2FSupplier%2FRegionDollars&Action=Navigate&col1=Periods.%22Year%22&val1=%221999%22&op1=eq
    Passes colum : Periods.Year
    value : 1999
    operator : equals (=)

  • Change Image based on dashboard prompt

    Hello
    Im using OBIEE 11G 11.1.1.5
I need to show on a dashboard, the logo (Image) of the company selected on a dashboard prompt. I have 5 companies and each has its own logo. Only one company can be selected.
Is there a way to acomplish that ?
    Thanks
Edited by: Andres on 16-ene-2012 12:52

    Hi Andres,
We can make use of the 'Conditional display of sections in dashboard based on analysis results'. One option certainly is to write different analysis (narrative view or static text) with your company logs and embedding them in different sections of their corresponding reports in dashboards. These sections need to be conditionally displayed based on the dashboard prompt chosen. You can create analysis, each to read the presentation variable (associated with the prompt) and display a record only if a particular company is chosen. (Ex: Create an analysis with one column as @{variables.CompanyPrompt}. Create a filter on it like 'is equal to 'Oracle'. So this analysis, would display a record only if the presentation variable has the value 'Oracle').
I would keep you posted if I hit at any other much efficient way.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Dhar

RaviHey, Ravi. I see that you responded to the unanswered questions. Thanks. Since you did, there is no need to point out which ones. My point is simply that we all use this forum with the attitude of gratefulness, meaning, when we receive help, it is someone taking time out to do it... for free. Thank you for your prompt response! Here's my solution for what you are trying to achieve:
    1) Keep your multi-select prompt for your States and the one for your "National" prompt.
    2) Now build a small report on your using the States column and a dummy column set to RCOUNT(1).
    3) Put a filter on the RCOUNT column "greater than" 2 and an "Is Prompted" filter on the states column.
What this report will do is return rows when the number of selections from the multi-select prompt is 2 or less. It will return no rows if more than two states are selected. (If you insist on 2 states for comparions, set the filter operand to "equal to/is in.")
    4) In your Dashboard, put a section in it along with the main report.
    5) Click on Section Properties>Guided Navigation and point to the small report, to display the section when "the request returns rows."
    6) Put another Section in the Dashboard and add a Text Object.
    7) Again, click on Section Properties>Guided Navigation and point to the small report, but this time, "when the request returns no rows."
    8) In the Text object, enter something like, "To properly view this report, you must select only two(2) states in the multi-select prompt. Please try again."
There you go. If the user selects more than two states, the report section will be hidden and the text will appear instructing the user to "try again." When the user selects only two states, the report will display properly.

  • Dashboard Prompt -- One Column Setting Multiple Presentation Variables

    Hi everyone,
I've been playing with dashboard prompts, trying to get a deeper understanding of how the function.
I created three dashboard prompts, all on the same column, account number. Each prompt defaults to a different value i.e. 1,2 and 3 respectively. Each prompt sets up a different presentation variable. PVAR1, PVAR2 and PVAR3 respectively.
    I created a report that referenced the three variables i.e. '@{PVAR1}', '@{PVAR2}', '@{PVAR3}'.
I put all three prompts and the one report in a dashboard.
When I view it, all of the prompts have the same value, value 2, however, only PVAR3 is setup. PVAR1 and PVAR2 are blank.
Why aren't all three presentation variables set to the same value? Why is only one populated?
    Thanks for the help!
    -Joe

    Hi Joe,
Thanks for posting this interesting question, I played around and found the same issue.
This is my finding and hoping that this makes sense, The PV variables are set only when you hit a Go button. As there are 3 prompts in the question and all the prompts are build on the same column hence the values of the columns are the same, but only one variable is set. In my opinion the last prompt which got executed.
I tried the similar thing with one more prompt with one Go button and VAR1 and VAR2 values got set but VAR3 was still black. But the 2 prompts had the same values.
I believe since its the same column on which these prompts are build hence the issue of setting the values.
    Hope this helps,
