Dashboard Unresponsive to Clicks

Hi all,
So ever since upgrading to Mountain Lion, and into Mavericks, my Dashboard has been largely unresponsive to clicks. That is, that while I can move around widgets, and I can even move the cursor within widgets, interacting witht he widget itself, be it pressing the little "i" button to change settings or deleting entries within a widget is nearly impossible.
So far I have tried refreshing the appropriate plist files in ~/Library/Preferences, I've refreshed the Dock caches, I've done multiple permissions repairs, I've reinstalled Dashboard from the Mavericks installer (using Pacifist) and I've reinstalled the OS and restored from backup. Logging into a guest account or a new admin account yields a Dashboard that functions properly. Looking at Console, whenever I attempt to interact with Dashboard, I get either "WindowServer[2012]: _CGXSetWindowHasKeyAppearance: Operation on a window 0x15 requiring rights kCGSWindowRightOwner by caller Dashboard" which appears to point to a permissions issue, or I get "WindowServer[2012]: Warning: Program "Dashboard" posted a mouse-down, blocking hardware events, but did no further mouse activity"
Any advice on how to proceed to solve this problem would be very much appreciated!
Thanks!

There was another thread related to this that originated with Lion.  Upgrading to Mountain Lion seems to make no difference or even make it worse.
It may be related to Classic vs the new view, not occurring in Classic View.
The UI of mail seems to not "see" mouseup events, so clicking something doesn't do anything, or worse still, behaves like a drag...  clicking a second time can sometimes initiate the action desired in the first attempt...
It's all very odd, doesn't happen EVERY click, and clearly for some reason doesn't affect all users!
It first appeared for me when moving from Snow Leopard to Lion, so something changed in the Mail code base to cause the problem.
I'l keep investigating...

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
    4. After  5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
    5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
    6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
    7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
    8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
    9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
    10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists
KINDLY GUIDE ME THE SOLUTION. APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE in advance...

  • How can I turn off dashboard from middle click on magic mouse?

    As the title says:
Whenever  I have a gesture set up on my magic mouse to hit middle click, it automatically does the dashboard. This I don't want, and I cannot for the life of me work out how the **** to disable the dashboard from middle click.
    Any help?
    Suresh

I was getting the same problem, I have Jitouch installed, but that really wasn't the issue, it was a setting in the system preferences as sureshk mentioned. It took me a little bit to figure out where the setting is located in case someone else has the same issue.
System Preferences > Expose & Spaces (Snow Leopard & earlier) or Mission Control (Lion & later)
The keyboard and mouse shortcuts are at the bottom. My "Show Dashboard" was set for F12 and Middle Click

  • GarageBand becoming unresponsive when clicking 'Share' menu

So, I'm done with my project, and I need to get it out of GB. When I click the Share menu, GB hangs and becomes unresponsive. I have to resort to Force Quit.
I've replicated this 5 or 6 times now. Anyone else having the same issue?

I created a small loop based tune of about 50 secs yesterday. Touch wood, I could share it successfully to iTunes and also write on disk, no issues.
    I'm on GB 11 and os 10.6.4

  • Safari becomes unresponsive when clicking on a link from facebook.

    Early 2011 Macbook Pro, 13" OS X ver. 10.6.8 Processor: 2.3 GHZ Intel Core i5 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Safari Version 5.1.10 (6534.59.10)
While in Safari, especially using facebook, when I click on a link to see a video the computer gets warm and the fan kicks into high gear. The video gets all sluggish or sometimes won't play and the page responds slowly sometimes becoming unresponsive. Even if I only have one window open, and also when I have multiple windows opened. The spinning pizza of death appears regularly. What can I do to resolve this?

    Hi videowave,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that when clicking on some links, your computer does not respond as quickly as you would expect. In this situation, I would recommend reading over and working through the suggested steps located in the attached article.

  • Macbook Pro trackpad is unresponsive to clicking.

My trackpad is working normally except I can't click on it or use it to highlight any text. Any ideas if this is a simple calibration issue?
    Thanks!

On occasions I have seen on other posts where a good cleaning of the trackpad is required to cure the problem.  A good lens cleaner on a lint free cloth may be worth a try.
    Ciao.

  • Unresponsive mouse clicks

Since installing Snow Leopard I have used four different mice. All have responded poorly (as if clicks are weak) and often requires several clicks to get action . Occasionally the mouse click just does work at all and I have to give up. This did not happen in Leopard.

Works fine here with the mighty mouse. Since you didn't ID yours, there's only guessing left. BTW, close your duplicate post.

  • What happened to my opening page with links to my most frequently used websites which I use to get onto a Wordpress Dashboard in one click!!!!!!!

My normal Firefox opening page has disappeared. I is a page with about 12 webpages in small windows which are links to my frequently used sites. Some of them are Wordpress Administrative pages and I need them to access my websites. How do I get this page back?
Another change is the persistent presence of Ask.com on every search window. Where did that come from? I don'[t want or use Ask.com. Is this something that Mozilla added in? If so, it is a bad idea. I use Google for search and want my familiar Firefox opening page back on opening of Firefox.
    Thank you for help. Susan

Thank You! I went to the link you sent and reset Firefox. Yippee, that is exactly correct. I believe it happened when I used the Chrome Browser one time. Won't be doing that again.

  • Using OS 10.9.5 and now dashboard won't open when I double click on it.

I have downloaded 10.9.5 for my OS and also, added my children as users with their own login to my MacBook Pro.  Since then (two days ago), I am not able to access dashboard by double-clicking on it nor am I able to return to the screen I was on prior to dashboard by clicking on the lower right arrow.
    Any suggestions, please?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • Dashboard disappears when I click a widget...

My dashboard has started to act wierd! Not all the time, but sometimes when I enter the dashboard and I click on a widget, for an example to write something in a sticker or update the weather, the dashboard disappears and I am returned to a fullsize window, for an example safari.
This only happens sometimes and it is not a constant fault, but it is very annoying!
    Anyone have a suggestion?
    I am running OS X 10.7.2
    Cheers

    Hello lionstigersbearsomar,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on exactly what you are seeing/describing. When you are attempting to remove the widgets in question, are you following the process outlined in the following article?
Remove a downloaded widget from your Mac
You can only remove widgets you installed.
Open Dashboard, then click the Add button  in the lower-left corner of the screen. Click the Remove button to make the widgets jiggle. Click the Remove button  of the widget you want to remove, then click Delete.
OS X Yosemite: Get quick info with Dashboard
    Sincerely,
    - Brenden

  • Skype Click to Call - plugin is unresponsive - ANN...

Why do I repeatedly see the message
    Plug-in Unresponsive
The following plug-in is unresponsive: Skype Click to Call
Would you like to stop it?
    Yes No

Hi, gordo5460, and welcome to the Community,
This topic is also being discussed in this thread:
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Other-features/click-to-call-not-compatible-with-firefox/td-p/1376946
We have to wait for for Click-to-Call update; is currently not compatible with FireFox 22 or Internet Explorer 10.
Update!  A new release of Click-to-Call was issued on 16 August 2013, and it works on updated FF and IE.  I also understand Click-to-Call is working on the Safari browser.  Remember to enable the Click-to-Call add-on as this step is easily overlooked.
    Regards,
    Elaine

  • Unresponsive clicks in MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro with snow leopard (10.6.6) in it. Lately my macbook is somehow unresponsive to clicks wheter using mouse ot not. I sometimes need to click twice for it to get a reaction. Please help me solve this.

I'm also experiencing this problem, but somewhat more extreme. With my MacBook Pro (bought in August 2009, 13" version) I suddenly can't left-click anymore. I can scroll and right-click, but left-clicking and dragging is impossible. I can only use left-click when I set 'Tap to click' in my Trackpad preference pane.
I can't recall exactly when this started, but I think it's been little over a week for me. It seems that my problem occurred after I installed the Bootcamp drivers for my Windows 7 partition, but this could be coincidence because I don't think the installation should have an effect on OS X.
It doesn't seem there's something stuck under my Trackpad and also the sound when pressing the trackpad hasn't changed noticeably.
(English is not my native language, so please excuse me for any mistakes in my post)

  • Can not click buttons or move windows

    Hi there,
I have a strange problem. When I click the mouse in certain areas of the screen or within certain windows it does not have any effect. I can move icons around the screen but windows that are recently opened and which sit towards the left centre of the screen seem to be unresponsive to clicks.
    Any assistance greatly appreciated.
    thanks,
    Paula

    Try running Firefox in safe-mode.
    * Firefox -> Help -> Restart with add-ons disabled
If it works in safe-mode, that means one of your Add-on Extensions is causing the problem, which will require disabling them all, and then re-enabling them one by one to isolate the problem.
    Edit:
I forgot to say this earlier, have you checked to see if all plug-ins are up to date?
