Dashed Stroke not working on Image Traced image?

So I'm able to use the dashed stroke normally if I create my own lines or shapes, but I'm using an image that I have image traced, expanded, and ungrouped, and I'm able to change the weight of the stroke and the brush but not apply a dashed stroke or a different brush profile, but I'm more concerned with the stroke. I haven't forgotten the gap.. What's up? Does it just not work on image traced stuff?

What tracing method did you use?
If the trace produced compound paths it is likely that you have also got duplicate paths.
You need to analyse the trace to see where the problem lies.
There is nothing about traced stuff that prevents the use of dashed strokes but if there are compound paths be aware that the compounds in their entirety will have dased stokes.
You may need to release compound paths (with the hassle that involves) to get what you want.

Bridge Raw not working, cannot see Raw image in Bridge

The RAW setting in Bridge is not working. When I open Bridge I can see only icons, no images. The RAW tool icon is grey, not active. I am going on a trip Tomorrow and I need Bridge to be working. It was working earlier.

My Photoshop and bridge is CS4, purchased in 2008, and the canon 5D Mark
11, purchased earlier. I have CR2. The camera and software worked
together fine for all those years.
Now, however, when I click Bridge to open a file containing several
images, I do not get thumbnail images, just a circle with CR 2 and the
file name, no image.
If I double click one of the circles, the image will open in camera Raw,
and I can edit, and open photoshop and edit again. If I then save a Jpeg
version, I will be able to open it and see the image in Bridge.
The problem is that now if I shoot 100 pictures, I can open Bridge but
there are no thumbnail images, only CR2 and file name.
I hope this can clarify the problem. Camera and software have not been
changed.

Conversion to WORD did not work; the MS is images that were scanned to create the PDF, what to do?

Conversion from PDF to WORD did not work. The MS was composed of images of each page (from a microfilm) that were scanned to create the PDF. What can I do?

I'm so sorry to hear you are disappointed. It sounds like your PDF was originally a scanned document in photo type. Unfortunately those can be almost impossible to convert due to the converting not having actual text to grasp onto.

Hand tool using spacebar does not work to move an image

When using another tool on an image, I hit the spacebar to move around in the image but the Hand tool does not work.
I've renamed the folder 12.0 under %appdata%/roaming/adobe/Photoshop Elements and that works until I close Elements 12 and then reopen it.

Suggest that you delete preferences.
In Editor, expert tab, go to Edit>preferences>General. Look for this:
Reset, close PSE, launch again.

Strokes Not Working

Hi everyone. I am having an issue with applying strokes to images. I have PhotoShop CS5 installed on two PCs, both from the same source download file (part of E-Learning 2 Suite).
On one PC the Edit > Stroke effect works absolutely fine, as evidenced by the first image below. However, on my second PC this has never worked - regardless of stroke size selected it puts the most tiny barely noticeable stroke around it. My way around this has been to right click on the layer, and select 'Blending Options', and apply a stroke from there. However, having worked fine, this has recently started to produced a very ugly effect around the top of the image (see second screen shot).
I have no idea why:
Edit > Stroke doesn't work on one PC.
Why my Blending Option work around on this same PC is now producing horrible results.
To illustrate, I have applied strokes to the same source graphic using my two different PCs:
PC1: Using Edit > Stroke - effect has expected.
PC2: Using Stoke from Blending Options - very ugly top of image (consistent issue regardless of source graphic).
I have tried resetting all tools, but that doesn't do any good. Does anyone have any ideas. Any help would be much appreciated.

It would appear you are correct. In the image above, I added an extra layer, filled it, and put it behind the image. That awful "smudge" effect was still there. Despite spending £100 on a set of artwork the quality is clearly erractic!
On the PC where the Edit > Stoke wasn't working, it would appear the problem was that "Preserve Transparency" was unchchecked. I always left this checked because, to me, it meant that you wanted to preserve the transparent background of a PNG image. Obviously my understaning was flawed!
Anyway, sorted! Thank you so much again.

Change of language in Firefox does not work. I have images of it.

I cannot change language to Spanish as some time I had. Why?
Menu bar is: File Edit View History... but when in Spanish: Archivo Editar Ver Historial.
And so on with other menus and tools.
I have images of both.

In what way didn't that work? That list of preferred languages only has an effect on sites that display pages in a particular language based on the ''Accept-Language'' header. Examples include Mozilla and Bing.

Eyedropper tool in Illustrator not working on pasted Photoshop image

Hey,
I've copied images from 3 different layers in Photoshop into Illustrator. One is an outline, another is a colour fill and the last is a filled in ellipse. When trying to use the eyedropper tool to get a colour used in the colour fill, it doesn't work - only showing black or white. But it will pick up the ellipse's fill colour. It picks up other colours in the document fine that I drew in Illustrator.
Any idea what I need to do to get this to work? I'm at a loss.

I think I've figured out what was going on. The eyedropper was picking up only the outline layer's colours so was only getting black when on an outline, and white when on the colour fill area. If I delete the outline and left only the colour fill and the pink background, the eyedropper works. The outline was blocking the eyedropper from accessing the colour fill. Not sure exactly how that works as the outline isn't filled in with colour (obviously, otherwise the colour fill below wouldn't show through). Nor is it completely transparent - it's just an outline.
They are all copied into a new document on the same layer, but grouped. So I either have to delete the outline layer or turn it off in the - I'm not sure of the terminology here - layers that are within the layer(?).

"save as jpeg" not working for only certain images (pse 2.0)

I've searched for hours, trying to figure this issue out, but there seems to be no answers to my particular perdiciment. So I guess I'll start a new discussion with hopes to find any answer that can lead me in the right direction. For some reason, I am now getting a program error when I try to save some images as jpegs. It seems that only a small percentage of my pics are having this issue, and they are the ones I have taken in the past two days. I can go back into my catalog and run any other pics through PSE and save as a jpeg with no problems. But if I try to do any touch ups on any of the pics from yesterday or the day before, i get the error message. I can even go back into lightroom 4 and export any pics from 3 days ago and have no issues saving them as jpegs. I always get the option to save as a jpeg, it just errors out while trying to save. I'm using a somewhat older laptop w/ vista 64 bit. If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. If you need any more info, just let me know and I'll try to reply as fast as I can.

I just saw the end of your subject: Are you really using Photoshop Elements 2?
If you Save As – A Copy and use a different name does the save work?
Is there some background process that is analyzing the original files, either a system-cloud backup or a PSE photo analysis for heads or other things, that might have the file momentarily in use and therefore be unwritable?
Is your system almost out of memory, or is the hard-drive almost full or does the hard-drive have errors, or is the destination hard-drive something across a network or USB connection and that connection is iffy?

Updates for photoshop will not work/wont open raw images

I have tried to update my photoshop and numerous times to open raw images in photoshop and it wont work, everytime i try to do it the installation fails and doesnt explain why and example is :

Might be helpful if there are any more specific messages being shown to list them.
Just passing on what I've read: Some people using PCs have reported that removing Photoshop, reinstalling from their original media, then updating to the very latest works where they haven't been able to get the software updated via the integrated process. I don't know whether this applies to Mac, but it could represent something to try if you run out of options.
But before trying that, have you tried doing a manual installation of the latest updates? You can download the appropriate one(s) directly from the following:

HT1578 Labels (Mavericks) not working in encrypted disk image?

I created an encrypted disk image with Disk Utility.
I placed a file in the opened encrypted disk image, and labeled it with "test".
If I open a finder window and look for files labelled "test" the file doesn't appear.
This message is placed under the wrong OS, because it is not possible to choose Mevericks from the popup list!!!!

Where I used the word label I did mean tag

"Reset All" not working on all selected images

I had to reinstall Windows this week, and thus also Lightroom.
Now when I select a group of images and in the develop module, take an action, such as applying a preset, resetting all, or clearing history, it only performs the action on a single active image, not on all the rest of the selected images. How can I correct this?

I don't quit understand what you are doing as "Clear History" is NOT under the sync settings dialog. You can just select multiple photos and use develop/clear history on the menu and it will ask if you what to apply to "selected photos" or "active photo". When using Auto-Sync, be careful to turn it back off when you are done needing it because it can REALLY REALLY cause accidental photo edits. This is from painful personal experience.

Photo booth not working correctly/ sound and image wont record at the same time

Everytime i record a video on my photobooth, the sound doesnt record at all. Either its that, or it does record but it doesnt record accordingly, so the sound is ahead of the video when i play it

From your example, it looks like you're implementing a JSP application? I'd strongly recommend using interMedia Java Classes for Servlet and JSPs. Using this Java library has many advantages over using the Web Agent. For example, you can write a single, integrated, pure Java application, without the need to manage a separate component, such the Web Agent, to handle the multimedia data. Another advantage over the Web Agent is better support for HTML forms, including textareas, field values greater than 255 characters, and so forth. Its also much easier to provide a better user interface, where text-based and media data can be mixed in one upload form, then validated and processed in a single step.

Apply Gradient across stroke not working now?

Updated Illustrator to CC and now my apply gradient to stroke is acting funny (also does it with apply along stroke). First i can't get it to show up unless I find a number it likes (start out with 1 pt, don't see a stoke so increase size 1 pt at a time up to 11 to see it) now the corners have gotten strange, They seem to be missing small patches. Any idea what's causing this? You can see in the image I am not doing anything fancy, it's type and then just to make sure it wasn't a font problem I tried just a rectangle. It seems to be worst with corner set to round joint.

Sorry Larry that didn't fix it. Sent the files to Adobe for review. Anyone elese reproduce this problem?
It's easy to test;
1. create a rectangle
2. add a fill and stroke
3. change the stroke to a gradient and make it big enough to see
4. change the stroke cap to round and cap corner to round join
5. change the gradient to apply gradient along stroke or across stroke
I do this to nearly everything and have been for years...very strange problem
I also just made the same object in CS6 and it worked flawlessly.

Path Stroke not working properly CS6?

Hello, I am using a work path in Photoshop CS6 with maybe 2-300 unique lines. The issue is that when I attempt to stroke the path, only about 80% of the lines get stroked, and some are incomplete or are a slightly different (thinner) width.
Here is what I am doing to get this result: I have linked the path to a blank layer via layer>vector mask>current path, selecting the brush tool, and pressing stroke path in the layer toolbar.
Any ideas? You are appreciated!

Then you should not have applied the Vector Mask to the Layer.

CS3 Outline Stroke not working?

I am using Illustrator CS3 on my mac, and when I use the outline stroke command, no matter what brush i've used for the stroke, it makes right angles. so if i use a round brush and make a line, so it looks like a skinny rounded rectangle - when i do the outline stroke command, i get a rectangle. i know this worked properly for me in cs2, but i'm not sure if it has worked right for me in cs3. any thoughts on what might be wrong? thanks!!

You shouldn't be using Outline Stroke on a live Brush path. Use Expand Appearance. (Often good to follow with the Merge Pathfinder.)
If you just want to outline a uniform-weight path with rounded caps and joins, you don't need the Brush. Just give the path a thick stroke, set its caps and joins to round and *then* use Outline Stroke. (Bugs in CS3 notwithstanding.)
