Data back-up saved on Satellite L300

Hi All,
Yesterday my laptop accidentally slipped from my hand and now its screen is looking like damaged. I am worried about my data which I have saved on 'D drive'.
Is data on d drive means it is on hard drive ?
How can i recover it ?
Any reply will be highly appreciated.
Thx

>its screen is looking like damaged
How to understand this?
Can you start your machine?
Can you see anything on the screen?
Your data are saved on second HDD partition. Theoretically you have two options:
1/ You can connect your notebook to the TV or external display and use it for a while
2/ You can remove HDD and connect it to another notebook/Pc as external one. So you can have full access to your saved data
Please post some feedback.

  • Recovery disk Creator & data partition won't work - Satellite L300

My niece asked me to re-install her Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop, because the windows installation is rather buggy. She didn't have a recovery disk. Using Toshiba's Recovery Disk Creator I tried creating a recovery disk.
However, the program wouldn't start. Checking the directory of the program, it would seem that the program simply isn't there. Afterwards, I checked the data partition of the laptop.
There was a map with HDD recovery. However when using Windows' advanced boot (F8 before Windows startup) there was no choice of repairing the notebook. They only choices were the standard windows options (Save mode, normal start, etc.).
In short, it seems impossible to re-install the notebook with the current information at hand.
What would be the next course of action? Is it possible to order a recovery CD from Toshiba?
Another niece has the same notebook, would it be possible to use that notebook to create a recovery disk?
I'll appreciate and look forward to your reactions.

    Hi
It looks like something has been changed on the HDD
However, fact is youve no Recovery disk and you cannot use HDD recovery option.
This means you need to order a new Recovery disk from Toshiba.
    You can do this here:

PS: one tip if you would use a search option of this forum, you would find the right answer too ;)

  • Calendar Data backed up/saved?

I want to update my iPhone to 3.1.3 (currently on 3.1), and I use the calendar on my phone as my organizer with events, appointments and stuff in so I can keep track.
I was wondering if the iPhone/iTunes backs this data up? So that if my phone software was updated or I had any problems the data within the Calendar can be retrived from a back up?
Thankyou, any help will be gladly appreciated.

This is whats in a Backup http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
The answer appears to be No - the backup has the account details but not the content. the Calendar is designed to be synced with something else like Gmail calendar to act as its backup.

  • I have a Mac Book (2006) All my saved emails for two and a half years have the same date. How do I get the original dates back?

From the "date and time" I tried to drag the month and year to my menu bar. It did not stay, so I did it several times, but to no avail. I closed the window and went back to my Thunderbird email only to find that the date I tried to use became the date in the "date received" column of all of my emails from back to 2011. I changed the date a few days later, and then the date changed on all of my emails. I would like to undo whatever I did to the dates so that the emails show when they were originally received. I did manage to get "the order received" which helps a little, but I cannot see the original dates.
I have checked "Set date and time automatically" but it doesn't change the dates on my saved emails.

I at first thought it might be a Mac thing, but I couldn't find a solution. I realized that the date only affected my email, so then I thought it must be a Mozilla problem.

  • HT1483 My ipod needed repairing, so I backed up the data into restore file. My ipod was swapped for a totally new ipod and now I am having difficulty reloading the restored data that I saved. I keep getting the corrupt or not compatible MSG??? Any Ideas

My IPOD needed repairing, so I backed up my personal data into a restore file. In the end my ipod was exchanged for a brand new one and now I am having difficulty with restoring all of my data that I saved.
While trying to restore through iTunes I keep gettingthe corrupt or not compatible error message. Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this issue?
    Much Appreciated for any help!

You can not restorea a backup made with a newer version of iOS to a phone with an older version of iOS.
1400 photos stored on the phone? Do you not EVER extract them? The camera roll is intended to be temporary storage. Like the SD card in a digital camera. You should be extracting them to your computer on a regular basis.
Contacts should be synced to a compatible contact manager or cloud service. If you were not doing any of these things, guard your backups with your life and make sure your computer is being backed up on a regular basis, because you won't be able to get them back until you get a new phone with at least the same version of iOS that your 4 had.
There are 3rd party applications that say they can extract this information from a backup file, but I don't have personal experience with them.

  • Crystal report reverts back to saved data after drill down

    Hi,
I've created a crystal report and published it to BOE. Whenever I open the report and refresh it, it fetches recent data without any problem. But when I drill down in the report, it shows the saved data instead of showing the recent data in the drill down. If I come back to original report from that drill down again it reverts back to saved data. Again I've to refresh the report to view the recent data.
Any idea how can I fix this?

    Hi bluegrandpanash,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you backed up your iPhone to iCloud before updating the software, first try the steps under "Restore from an iCloud backup" in this article to recover your data:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • Satellite L300-110 - How to recover without loosing data on the HDD?

    Hello all
    I have a Toshiba Satellite L300-110
The question is how can I recover my laptop with the recovery DVD without lose any data located in the hard disk drive?

    Hello
A recovery installation from the recovery disk without loosing data on the HDD isnt possible. If you use the Toshiba recovery disk the whole HDD will be formatted so you must backup the data first.
The only way I know is to use the HDD recovery function in the advanced boot menu. The HDD recovery function formats only the first partition of the notebook and all data that you have stored on the second partition are available after recovery.

  • Satellite L300 - 'W' and 'F' Keys not working - can't log

    Hi,
    I have a Toshiba Satellite L300.
My 'F' and 'w' keys arent working, and because I have a Built-in HDD user password of which contains those letters, I can not start up my computer.
I had a 'startup' problem a couple of months back, and what I had to do was restore my laptop to a previous date. I did this through Boot management during startup. The only thing is I cant remember how to do it now.
I cant find any restoration disks that may have come with my laptop- so the only way I can do it is through boot management.
So, how do you do a system restore? or is there another way of fixing this problem?.
    Please help!! :)

    Hello
If W and F key dont work I would recommend replacing the keyboard or use an external one. In my opinion its the best choice because you also need the keys for typing letters or emails
You can get a new keyboard from an authorized service provider in your country.
    > I cant find any restoration disks that may have come with my laptop
I think you should read the user manual because you have to create this disk yourself ;)

  • Satellite L300 laptop won't load Windows

I have a Satellite L300 model number PSLB0A-00L022 running windows Vista.
The problem is that it won't load Windows. It starts ok and I can access the boot manager and the setup utility and that's it. It just stops loading.
After researching the problem I ran a drive fitness test and the result was error code 0x70. After looking up the code Im under the impression that I need to erase the disk. I have no problem with that.
My question is - if I run the windows recovery wizard will it fix my problem? Will I have to re install vista at all? Any advice is appreciated!!

Hello Jane and welcome in Toshiba forum
After reading your posting I must say that best and easiest solution for you is to reinstall operating system using original Toshiba recovery DVD. This DVD contains operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba specific tools and utilities. After recovery image installation you will have out-of-box state and clean preinstalled OS.
Yes, this should fix your problem. Please note: when you do this all saved data will be deleted.
Do you have some important data saved on your notebook?
If not use this disc reinstall Vista and everything should be ok again.

    Hi
Here once again the link posted by Paolo:
    +*Windows 7 upgrade: Step-by-step Upgrade Guide*+
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9902P60000R01.htm
    You need two disks:
    - Toshiba Windows 7 Driver and Software Upgrade disc
    - Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade CD
    Here the whole procedure:
+Upgrade Guide with Toshiba Win7 Driver Upgrade DVD and Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade+
    1. Toshiba recommends a clean installation of Microsoft Windows Vista.
Please store all your Data to an external HDD or other storage Media and recover your notebook.
    2. After this, the drivers for the upgrade can be installed. Please insert the Toshiba Windows 7 Driver and Software Upgrade disc.
This disc contains a tool which automatically uninstalls all spuriously moduls and afterwards it installs all necessary drivers for Windows 7.
While this process is running, the computer may reboot sometimes.
If any messages appear on the screen, please follow them and take actions if needed.
    3. If the driver installation is completed, please insert the Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade CD and start the Upgrade.

  • Satellite L300 - Toshiba Recovery Disck, what does it memorize?

    Hello,
my experience with computing is very limited, so I will be using very simple language and maybe some stupid words.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L300. I want to reboot it because of some research and some discussions that have been made through it.
I know that even if I delete them in my history they still remain in the hard disk, HHD.
So I wanted to reboot my pc, I have contacted computing guy who sold me the pc and he said that I can use a recovery disk to get back my original windows but does it mean that this disk will also install the old memory?
In short I was to boot my pc to get rid of all the images, msn discussions, google search being made from my pc.
Its History, the ones that are still keept in the pc but I can't get access to.
I haven't created my recovery disk yet but will it include my old files and history? or just windows and the drivers?

    Hi,
As I understand you want to format (you call it ,, reboot) your hard disk to remove all the information such as history, files that nobody can read it.
Please, remember if you even format your hard disk, it's still possible to recovery all the data from your hard disk.
As I know, there is a good software called Tech Erase, it can securely destroy all the data on your hard disk and almost impossible to recover it (depending what algorithm use choose). But I don't understand why you need it. Do you have something special?
About talking recovery disk, you can make a new installation but the information from old one can be recovered by the special utilities.

  • Satellite L300-055 won't boot windows

    Hi,
I have a satellite L300-055 laptop that fails to boot up.
I shut it down one night and the next time I turned it on it wouldn't boot.  It goes to a black screen with the following error message.
    \Boot\BCD
    Status OxcOOOOOOf
An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data.
It asks me for a recovery disk, but stupidly I didn't make one.  Is there anything that can be done to recover the system?
    Any help would be appreciated!

If you can reach the recovery environment, Jen, there are lots of things to try.
Turn the computer on and immediately press and hold the F8 key.
On the Advanced Boot Options menu, choose Repair Your Computer.
When you reach the System Recovery Options menu (the recovery environment), choose Startup Repair.
If that doesn't do the trick, go back to the System Recovery Options menu and do a System Restore.
Let us know how it goes.

  • Memory upgrade on Satellite L300

I purchased a satellite L300 in august 08 in Australia. It came with a single 1Gb memory module which is now inadequate.
I obtained 2 x 2Gb modules but cannot get it to work with both fitted. Bios reports 4Gb fitted but Vista reboots the first time then blue screens. Ubuntu Linux hangs after loading HAL.
If only one module fitted it works OK and it does not matter which module is used.
Any info on this would be most appreciated.

    Hi
Either the chipset is not able to handle 4GB RAM or there is a compatibility issues between both modules.
This is nothing unusual and happens very often that both modules cannot work together.
In your case I recommend testing other modules.
PS: Be sure that BIOS is up to date... if it's not up to date, then update it and then test both modules again...
