Data change rate measurement tools
I'm looking for a software tool that can monitor a number of volumes or shares and record the amount of data modified or created over time. I need this to work out storage requirements and data transfer bandwidth for a backup system. It doesn't matter if the s/w runs on Linux, OS X or Windows.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Thanks for pointing out the DBA_TAB_MODIFICATIONS view.
It's very helpful but I was hoping for a better solution to determine the percent change in data.
All the SAN reps ask this question and it is a very good question to ask and I should know the answer but there seems to be no simple way to do this.
I am still working on it but if anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Looking for a way to clearly determine data change rate.
Anyone know of any tools that monitor this?
I have been looking at redo generation and DBA_HIST_SEG_STAT.
Any help appreciated!Thanks for pointing out the DBA_TAB_MODIFICATIONS view.

Changing the Measuring Tool Graphics size (arrows and leaders)
I am measuring a drawing and I can't see what I need to click on because the measuring tool graphics are so large. Please see the images. Is there a way to make the graphics smaller, thinner, etc. so that I can actually measure something with a bit more accuracy?
In the pictures below I am trying to measure a wall footing and in the second image the rectangular footing is covered by the arrows when using the measuring tool. In the third picture, you can see what I am measuring and how covered up the rectangular footing is in the previous image.
I want to annotate the drawing with the measurements so I don't want to turn off the leaders and annotation. If someone has an answer, i would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

Acrobat X StandardI am sorry if I have wasted anyone's time. I have actually now found a solution.
Right clicked the page when the measuring tool was selected and chose 'change scale ratio'. However, I would have never thought that it was a ratio issue...
Thanks a lot, anyway. -
Changing the measuring tool units and measurements
Hi,
When reading the PDF in Acrobat 9 Pro, how can I change the measurement units from inches to metric when using the measuring tool?
I have already been to Preferences and changed in Units and Guides the Page and Rules Units to millimeters but then, although the rulers do change to mm, the measuring tool (the red lines) still read in inches...I have also made sure the Measuring (2D) preferences show the 'Use Scale and Units from Documents' is checked.
Does anyone kow how I could get the measuring tool to give me the dimensions in metrics?
It would be truly great if anyone could clarify this. Thank you so much!I am sorry if I have wasted anyone's time. I have actually now found a solution.

Using a javascript to change the font size used by the measurement tool
A couple years ago I saw a javascript written that would allow me to chang the font size used by the measurement tool in Acrobat 9. When the IT department deliverd my new laptop with Acrobat X Pro, they had wiped out the script and I am not expert enough to recreate it from scratch. Any suggestions? I believe it was in an older post by Dave Merchant, but I truly can't find the post or a way to recreate the script. Thanks for any help.
Executing this code from the JS console will change the font size of all the Measurement annotations to 20. You can change the value in the first line to use a different font size:
var newTextSize = 20;
this.syncAnnotScan();
var annots = this.getAnnots();
for (var i in annots) {
var annot = annots[i];
if (annots[i].type=="Line") {
var richText = annot.richContents;
for (var i in richText) {
richText[i].textSize = newTextSize;
annot.richContents = richText; -
Changing decimal places in measuring tool
Hi everyone,
I often use the measuring tool to measure old scanned drawings, it is very useful but it supplies two decimal places for mm dimensions, this is really too much. I am not able to find any place where this setting can be changed.
Thanks a lot in advance
Claudiothank you for your inputs, Jeevan. we've tried up to 100,000 since any more will make the PO exceed the original contract amount.
the contract involved will be delivered in a span of many months, and billing and payments will depend on percentage of completion.
i hope someone can enlighten me as to how other companies do it, best practice or not. i'm pretty sure those in construction or property development will find this case familiar. or maybe point me to an article or anything.
thank you for taking the time. -
BAPI Function for EG70 change rate data
I am searching a BAPI function which can perform the function of EG70 (change rate data), ie, update the RateType and Fact Group is each register under an installation and device.
Can anybody helps? Thanks very much and point must be rewarded.Hi,
ISU_DB_EASTL_RATETYPE_SELECT - Use this for selecting rate type & fact group.
ISU_DB_EASTL_UPDATE -Use this to update rate type & fact grp at device level
ISU_DB_EASTS_RATETYPE_SELECT - Use this for selecting rate type & fact group at register level.
ISU_DB_EASTS_UPDATE-use this to update rate type & fact grp at register level.
Two tables are updated by EG70 EASTS & EASTS,you can search any FM from SE37 by ISUEAST
Hope this helps. -
Change Default Preferences - Measurment Tool - Acrobat Pro
When the measurement tool in Acrobat Pro a default setting somehow was made so that when you measure an area the same default polygon appears.
Does anyone know how to fix this so that the polygon that you measure is the one that shows up? Possibly by deleting the some preference file> If so where is this preference file?
Thank you very muchSOLVED!
To get rid of your "Use these settings as default": Simply delete the equivalent keys under "HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1778856060-1634827353-635260049-13282\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\7.0\Annots\cAnnots"
That worked for me. -
Disk data transfer rate - iMac 2013
Good morning Apple fellows
First of all, sorry for my troubled English speaking, I'll do my best to explain the issue I'm having in the best way possible.
Yesterday I finally received my new iMac (I'm a proud Apple user since 2006), the machine has these specifications: 16 GB Ram, i7 processor, nVidia GT 780M, and a SSD drive of 1TB of capacity.
Under Mavericks everything runs smooth and fine, no issues at all, just perfect, the fastest machine I've ever had. Unfortunately, I had to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp (I'm a mechanical engineer and I use Autodesk Inventor to do my stuff).
After completing the installation of the Microsoft OS, I instantly noticed some laggy performance while running Windows: I installed as asked all the Bootcamp drivers with the USB pendrive that I prepared, but both the startup of the system and the normal use were a bit slow, even slower than my old '09 iMac.
In order to understand what the problem was, I ran the system performance test included in Windows: all the ratings I have are maxed out at 7.9 (7.9 is the top I think), in exception of the "Disk Data Transfer Rate", that is 5.9. As far as I remember, this value is typical for a mechanical disk drive, not for an SSD drive supported with PCIe connections.
Does anybody here got a similar issue? Is there any driver package that I have to install in addition to the Bootcamp drivers?
Thanks in advanceThat is because the WEI uses your boot disk as the default device to measure performance, and, for instance, a Velociraptor 10 K disk, does not score more than 5.9. The story changes when the test is run on other disks, like my array:
However, this measurement is totally worthless in real life. You should look at practical benchmarks like PPBM5 Benchmark -
Inconsistent data when exporting measurement markup to Excel?
I use Adobe Acrobat XI Pro on a Windows 7 Dell PC to create Commercial Landscape takeoff's from architectural drawings. After setting the appropriate scale under 'Change Scale Ratio' and then using the measurement tools to outline, color code, and label different areas, I right click the document and choose 'Export Measurement Markup to Excel...'. My problem is 80% of the time the measurements that end up listed in the exported Excel document are not consistent with measurements of the specific areas I've done my takeoff on. For instance, a planting bed area that I've outlined with the area tool which may be 457.53 square feet is listed in the export excel document as 2.3 square feet. I've tried checking and unchecking the 'Use Scale and Units from Document (when present)' option under the Preferences>Commenting menu, to no avail. Most of the time there is no embedded scale in the drawings we're working with. We've used various versions of Acrobat Pro for over 5 years performing hundreds of landscape takeoff's, trying to select and deselect just about every menu option under the 'Preferences' tab that has to do with measurement and commenting, but still have not found what causes this inconsistent exporting of measurement data across all versions. Our workaround is to just click on every little area we've measured out and manual transfer that to the spreadsheet.
Here is a dropbox to a PDF example and the exported excel csv file > Dropbox - Adobe TroubleshootingHi,
Thanks for the reply. I just checked and both settings are the same:
decimal separator is a . in the server's regional settings and user preferences.
I have tried changing the regional settings to no avail.
The strange thing is that if I connect from my laptop to another 9.3.1 environment then I can export to excel with the correct decimal places.
I'd say this is definitely an environment issue.
Thanks again for your help.

why is the unit of measurement displayed when using the measure tool wrong? I have changed it in the units and rulers in preferences but it is still wrong.
Hello Emma,
It works ok for me here. Where are you reading the measurement? (Info Panel? Ruler Tool Option Bar?)
Is your Photoshop up to date? -
Enable Measuring Tool for Use in Reader X
I created a Geo-spatial PDF using ESRI's ArcGIS. I opened the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro X and made some minor cosmetic changes. In Acrobat Pro X I was able to use all the geospatial tools including the measuring tool. I saved the changes to the PDF.
I now want to send the PDF to another person who only has Adobe Reader X and want them to have the functionality to use the measuring tool to measure buildings ect. Currently they can see and use the object data tool, and the geospatial location tool, but not the measuring tool. Is there anything else I need to do in Acrobat X to allow a Reader user to access this tool?
ThanksYes, you need to save the PDF as Reader Extended PDF in Acrobat X. This can be done from File>Save As>Reader Extended PDF>Enable Commenting and Measuring. This file will give the Measuring Tool option in Adobe Reader X.

BO XI and the constant change rate analysis
Hello,
We have a BI system (BO XI + Oracle) which contains sales of all countries in the world. All the amount are stored in local currency.
We have a 10 indicators in our univers for these local currency figures and 10 other corresponding indicators for the value in Euro. The exchange rate apply for a currency is annual (and stored in the database for each currency / year)
->if I report a euro indicator for a country on 3 years, 3 exchange rates will be applied to the corresponding years
ex: for 2007,2008,2009 and Russian sales, the Turnover of the 3 years will be : Amount_2007 * Rate_2007 + Amount_2008Rate_2008 + Amount_2009Rate_2009 (this is the normal behavior of aggregation in BO)
For the business, it's very interesting to see the evolution of sales without the change rate effect (to work with constant change rate). So to do this analysis, I would like to apply the same change rate to the sales of the 3 years to get the amount in Euro
-> (Amount_2007 + Amount_2008 + Amount_2009) * Rate_2008
my question:
is it possible to work in constant rate with BO XI without to have a too complex way to do it for users ? We would like to have an object to put in condition with the values "constant rate" / "yearly rate" of better, an object with a list of years to choose the rate to apply
thanks in advance for your answer !
dansledouteHi
I hope you are building query like below
Year | Turnover | Rate
And then Multiplying
Euro turnover =Turnover * Rate
For Rate measure you can use following expression (You would need to change it as per our table name)
CASE WHEN 'CONSTANT'=@Prompt('Which Type','A',{'CONSTANT','CHANGING'},,,,) THEN
MAX(DECODE(DATE_DIM.YEAR,@Prompt('Which Year','N','Currdim\Year',,,,),RATE.RATE)) OVER (PARTITION BY @Prompt('Which Year','N','Currdim\Year',,,,) )
ELSE MAX(RATE.RATE) OVER (PARTITION BY DATE_DIM.YEAR )
END
Now if data is like below
Rate Table
Curr | YearMnth | Rate
RUB| 201001 | 3
RUB| 201102 | 4
Above expressions will give you rate of selected same year if CONSTANT is selected. i.e.
Year | Turover | Rate
2010 | 3000 | 3
2011 | 4000 | 3
Now you can multiply Rate * Turnover to get constant turnover for 2010 rate. Basically you can create the variable at report with following definition
=([Euro Turover] * [Rate])
Let me know if this solves your issue.

Last edited by Inxsible (2011-03-27 04:40:49)I just checked my BIOS and my current setting is set at IDE although it also mentions that the default should be AHCI. Currently I have a dual boot of Windows 7 (need it for Tax software) and Arch
So I guess, when I get the new HDD, I will first set it to AHCI and then install the OSes on it. See if NCQ helps any, and if not I will turn it back and re-install (if I have to). I am planning to have Windows only in virtualbox in the new drive.
Anyhoo, while I was in the BIOS I found two things which I had questions about :
1) Under Onboard Devices --> Integrated NIC , my setting is currently set at "On w/PXE" and it says the default should be just "On". Would it be ok to change it back to On since its a single machine and its not booting an OS on any server. I just don't want to have to re-install anything now since I will be doing that in the new HDD.
2) How would I know whether my BIOS would support a 64 bit OS in Virtualbox? I checked some setting under Virtualization, but they weren't very clear.
I will edit this post and let you know exactly what settings were present under the Virtualization sub-section. -

Log Message:
Reordering the if-statement in isMeasureFixed() exposed that hostFormat can be null when measure() is called if styles changed and measure is done before the next commitProperties. This states test exposed this.
We should rethink if we want to clear hostFormat rather than have a hostFormatChanged flag. If there is no hostFormat at measure then it has to be fixed because there is no line break format to check for auto-size.

flex/sdk/trunk/frameworks/projects/spark/src/spark/primitives/RichEditableText.asOh my god, it is too long! You definitely check out types, casting and especially ODP.Net (it does everything for you)... etc. They can help you to simplify your code. I do not have enough time to copy paste it to Studio and understand and solve your issue, so I got title of your message as your main question.
In Oracle, you can create an autonumber field by using sequences object. This is really useful when you need to create a unique number to act as a primary key.
Basically you can create a sequence simply typing;
CREATE SEQUENCE MY_SEQUENCE;
now you have a sequence called "MY_SEQUENCE"... Then, I advice you select a number from sequence;
select MY_SEQUENCE.nextval from dual;
I said I advice actually kinda must, although it called sequence, I cannot be sequential. Do not even try to predict the value. You can be sure that it is unique number so you can use it.
Then insert you record and use that number part of your primary key. I think that's it. Have fun.
