Data collection problems in LMS 4.0
Hi, we have some devices in our LMS 4.0 where Data Collection cannot be collected. The strange thing is that some days ago they were working fine and we have SNMP connectivity. We have deleted the devices and have added them again but the problem still persists, how can we fix it?
From the LMS server do the following:
1. ping the devices that you cannot collect their data
2. test the snmp connection to those devices using snmpwalk
go to CSCOpx\objects\jt\bin
snmpwalk -v 2c -c 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2
3. test the credintials against those devices (Inventory> Job Browsers> Device Credentials Verification)
For any failure in 1 or 2 usually this is a firewall problem. Check if snmp and icmp ports are open or not.
For 3 failue check the credintials from (Inventory> Device Administration> Add / Import / Manage Devices)
I hope this help

I installed this patch for UT support for Nexus 7k in my LMS3.2 (Solaris 10)
At the end it asked to reintit the camput manager database, after the reinit I ran the data colletion but it found zero

Any clue?

Data Collection 5.2 LMS 3.2 running always
why??
Best Regards. Most likely "CSCtd49439 Data Collection never completes, and UT acquisition cannot run " which affects the CM 5.2. TAC could provide you patch or you need upgrade your CampusManager to 5.2.2.

Multiple Trigger Level Data Collection
I'm having some difficulty with a unique data collection problem. I'm using DAQ Assistant to collect and display voltage data on a graph and in numeric indicators. I need to add functionality, so that when the user clicks a control, the incoming data is sampled and shown in a table. Each sample should occur at a succesively higher trigger level-- i.e., 1st sample when channel 0 is near 1 V, 2nd sample at 2 V etc... Is this possible using Labview 8.6? I have experimented with the Trigger and Gate function, but have been unable to trigger the manual trigger at successively higher levels. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
Hi Sailorguy,
Please have a look at this forum and see if it helps. Thanks!

All of the system data collection sets have been running for 6+ months without any issues, couple of weeks ago the 'Server Activity' collection set failed to restart after a planned maintenance server reboot.
When attempting to manually start the collection set it indicates "success", but after refreshing the collection set it showing as stopped. Viewing the logs for the Data Collection (Server Activity) I am getting the message:
Waiting on a kernel object(s) failed. Inner Error ------------------>
The handle is invalid.
After some research into this really unhelpful message I came across one posting where this error has been found to occur in SP1. We are running SP2 which include the fix so this shouldn't be the problem (ref http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/585210/sql-server-2008-data-collection-execmasterpackage-timeout).
To see more detail on the root cause of the error I enabled the additional tracing for data collection (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlagent/archive/2011/07/13/enabling-additional-tracing-for-data-collector.aspx). This provided an exception stack which indicated
that the issue was thrown to what looks like an existing file, referring to a location (e:\) which doesn't exist in our system.

I am now stumped as I haven't found anyone else experiencing this issue.
Any ideas, please help??Thanks for the pointer Eileen, problem solved.
Can't believe I missed it, but after reading the last section on system hangs it occurred to me that I hadn't checked that all dcexec.exe processes were killed when I disable the data collection service.
For anyone else experiencing this issue I identified the dcexec.exe processes using the following in cmd line:
TASKLIST /SVC /FI "IMAGENAME EQ DCEXEC.EXE"
On the default setup of the data collection there should be two dcexec.exe processes constantly running, one for "Server Activity" and another for "Query Statistics". On our server there were five running with the data collection disabled.
After killing all of the processes and restarting the data collection problem solved!!
Still need to understand why the processes didn't shut down cleanly when the server was restarted, but at least I know where to look now. -
Problem Topology Data collection LMS 4.1
Hi there,
I have an issue with the lms 4.1 Topology Data Collection. In the Topo Data Collect under Inventory > Dashboards > Device Status > Collection Summary, there are only 2 devices succeeded and 0 device fail. but I have more 500 device in state managed. I run Inventory Collections but the number doesn't change.
Inventory Collection 534 13 02 May 2012, 11:07 CEST Idle Schedule
Config Archive 507 14 02 May 2012, 09:51 CEST Running Schedule
Topology Data Collection 2 0 02 May 2012, 11:11 CEST Idle Schedule
I have read others discussions but no one has the same problem or similar problem. The only possible solution is to reset the ANI db but I'm not sure if it it's the best solution.
Any ideas?
Thaks for helpI confirm that Martin. Good spotting!. I just noticed it in a server I installed yesterday. These 2 lines were added to the hosts file.
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 LMS4
A bit silly for both, since these entries were allready in the hosts file, done by the windows install I think
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost
Cheers,

LMS 3.2 Campuss Data Collection Does Not Start
I Discovered devices correctly in CS>DCR . Initially there was no problem in running data collection in Campuss Manager. But now when i try to run data collection manually or by a scedule, it does not start. Although the notification appears that "notified server to run data collection" but nothing happens then.
Also, I applied " net stop crmdmgtd" and then "net start crmdmgtd" and no error was reported. After this, data collection was successfully run, but just for once. That means, every time if i have to run data collection manually or by a schedule, i have to stop and start crmdmgtd ???
Please advise what to do.
Pleae note:
LMS 3.2 is installed on Windows Server 2003 service pack 2.It looks like you are on Campus Manager 5.2. This should be fixed in 5.2.1. Proceed to upgrade to this version and then see if Data Collection runs fine. If you still have any problems, post the latest ani.log.

LMS 4.0 ANI Data Collection
Lately my ANI Data Collection seems to be running continuously. I even backed off the schedule for UT acquisitions to no avail. I also restarted the daemon manager.
I'm not sure if it's related but we made some changes on the management SVIs for a number of our switches to make them more reachable. I also upgraded to LMS 4.0.1
ANI Data Collection processes had been running fine earlier - kicking off on schedule and completing successfully.
I've attached a copy of the current ani.logThis looks like a new bug in LMS 4.0.1 introduced by the fix for CSCso03691. I don't yet have LMS 4.0.1 source and debugging is not enabled, so I cannot see exactly where the problem lies, but one of the port channel classes is not properly implementing the new methods for finding channels by ifIndex.

Problems with Data collection in CM 5.0.6
Hello:
I have installed LMS 3.0.1 and CM 5.0.6, and I have some problems with CM:
-Although data collection is scheduled, this does not run.
I try to launch it from CM menu, it asks if I want the collection of all devices or the new ones.
I try the two options but it does not do anything.
-I can launch the UT acquisition but it does not collect all the hosts.
I compare the configuration of the devices that "works" and the others and dont see no difference.
-The UT acquisition does not discover our Ip phones.
-In data collection settings there are 5 devices that are included but not managed.
-When I restart the server the data collection works fine, but the next day it doesn't work.
Thanks!!!Hi,
As suspected, Campus Manager 5.0.6 hitting a bug as found the following exception in ani.log :-

You need to contact TAC for the patch.Kindly click on Action --> open Service Request and it will put all these notes and logs of this thread to the TAC case.
Once the data collection issue will be fixed and the correct number of devices being data collected properly, then you need to make sure to add "Call Manager" to Common Services with the community string credentials and run the data collection and UT Acquisitions to get the IP Phones discovered.

LMS 4.2 Topology Data Collection Issue
Hi there,
i have an issue with the lms 4.2 Topology Data Collection. After installation the Topology Data Collection was running normaly, but since first server reload the Topo Data Collect under Inventory > Dashboards > Device Status > Collection Summary is "frozen". It only shows the following content from first run:
Topology Data Collection 193 0 Not Available Running Schedule
Is there any option to stop this process elsewhere? I cannot find anything under jobs in running state or so. Clicking on Schedule only give me the option to start data collection, but lms always returns that the process is running.
Thanks for help.Hi,
i have reseted the ANI db using NMSROOT\bin\perl.exe NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=ani dmprefix=ANI
Everything is set to 0:
Topology Data Collection 0 0 Not Available Running Schedule
UT Major Acquisition 0 (0 End hosts 0 IP Phones) 0 Not Available Idle Schedule
VRF Collection 0 0 Not Available Idle Schedule
But Topology Data Collection is still frozen to "Running" state.... -

CSCtd49439 Bug Details
Data Collection never completes, and UT acquisition cannot run
Symptom:
Campus Manager Data Collection does not stop. It is reported as always
running in
Topology Services. Additionally, User Tracking acquisition does not run due
to XML files
being written.
Conditions:
This will occur if there are any standalone Access Points being managed by
Campus
Manager. Other devices can also cause this (e.g. old 1200 series switches).
Workaround:
Filter out standalone Access Points and other affected devices from Campus
Data Collection
under Campus Manager > Administration > Data Collection > Exclude Devices.
A patch is available by contacting TAC. -
Problem setting data collection for SLD
Good day
I have the following situation.
A Solution Manager 71 installation, just recently patched to SP11. Previously I had the SLD on this system. And then a colleague informed that this could be a problem in the future as my ECC systems are Basis 731 which is higher level than the 702 on the Solution Manager system. So I installed a separate Java stack system on the same server as the Solution Manager.
The problem that I am faced with now is that I cant get the data collection (RZ70) to connect with the new Java system that I have installed. When I go into SLD and Administration, I see under Details>Data Suppliers that the server is specified as the Gateway Host, with a Gateway port of 3303. On the Solution Manager system it specified the gateway host as "localhost" and the gateway port as sapgw00.
So, from RZ70 I specify the gateway service as sapgw03 and then I get the result:
0: DSIMSID001_SID_00
: Collection of SLD data finished
0: DSIMSID001_SID_00
: Data collected successfully

: RFC call failed: Error when opening an RFC connection (CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPOCMINIT' : cmRc=17 thRc=2

And from the SLD_NUC entry in SM59 I get

Please check if the below SLD configuration is done. You can use any one of the two below link depending on how you want to configure your SLD.

If your SLD server is not a local SLD then make sure that in both the SLD system and the remote system host fine entry is there in /etc/hosts and etc/services. -
Problem setting up data collection for a performance problem
We have a performance problem on our production environment: there is a query that is long to display specially on specific records involving a lot of détails. I had the idea to set up data collection to investigate the problem.
I used the wizard to set up data collection with default settings.
I had created a database PERF_DW on our test server for that purpose.
I didn't have any problem with the wizard: it created data collection sets and SQL Server agents tasks and probably many objects. But I don't know where I missed something but I didnt, have the chance to specify the database I wanted to tune
and even when I started data collection, I couldn't figure out where were the reports.
Then I tought that I did it all wrong so I stopped data collection and dropped the database and tried to deleted the jobs created and I had the following message:
TITRE : Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
Échec de Supprimer pour Travail « collection_set_1_noncached_collect_and_upload ». (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)

BOUTONS :
OK
Now I understand that the collectors prevent the jobs from being deleted but I can't delete the collectors.
What should I do?
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you for your advice.
Sylvie PHello,
Please refer to the following article.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlagent/archive/2011/07/22/remove-associated-data-collector-jobs.aspx
You can run the dcclenaup.sql script mentioned in the article.
Another option is using sp_syscollector_cleanup_collector.

Hope this helps.
