Data Directory read only

Hi,
I need my mac to have full access to Data directory and for windows PC have read-only access.
I have my files under DATA directory, when I use secure disk using accounts under Time capsule and create users the files under my data directory is not visible.
When I revert the setting to have secure disk using disk password the files are visible.
Let me know how can I view my data with user accounts, do I need to repair permissions or something ?

Hi,
Did some test and noticed :
When accounts are used a Directory name "Shared" is created under the main DATA directory / partition.
I moved the data from DATA to DATA/Shared and turned back accounts mode in Time capsule.
Now I have one user with readonly access and other with full access.
However I am not able to access the user direcroty which is outside DATA.
Anyways my data can be safe this way.

Example: Assume that you have Travel Account#141100
Now you have below information
Travel Expenses $30,000
Food Expenses $50,000
Hotel expenses$20,000
To enter this details normally you will create additional 3 accounts(1.TravelExpenses 2.FoodExpenses 3.HotelExpenses) under Travel Account#141100
Using lineItem Details No need to create additional accounts. you can show the detailed information in a single cell(Single Account).
To do this
1.Create a New datagrid in workspace
2.Right-click and select Cell Line Item Detail on Account#141100 (which is enabled line item details)
3.Click on add button then provide the description and Enter the amount then press enter.
1)Travel Expenses $30,000
2)Food Expenses $50,000
3)Hotel expenses$20,000
4.Total $100,000 will be shown in Account#141100
(If you want to see the detailed information just Right-click and select Cell Line Item Detail on Account#141100)

Design ideas for retrieving Data for Read Only

Hi All,
Currently I am in the process of evaluating different design ideas for the search functionality of my application. I am looking for a best option for retrieving the data by executing some complex sql queries with huge query criteria and showing the single or multiple records to the user. But the data is read only. This may involve pagination if the number of records exceeds the page limit.
There are various options to implement this like JDBC and JDO or using some persistance framework to retrieve the data objects. Please suggest me about a good option for this.

Open directory 'read only' after restore

Hi
I have restored open directory using sudo slapconfig -restoredb after our server hangs on a restart and subsequently loses the master record, users etc.
All appears OK except that I am unable to add or remove users via the Server.app. It appears as though the restore process has given the OD read only permissions?

Role for system data dictionary read-only access

[NOTE: this is for 9i]
What grants must a role have to have read-only access to
the system data dictionary tables (e.g.: ALL_SOURCE,
ALL_OBJECTS, ...)?
Or, is there somewhere in the docs that talks about this
kind of role?

Well, the answer to your explicit question would be that it would need SELECT on each of the data dictionary views that do not have SELECT granted to PUBLIC. To find out what those are, you could do:
SELECT table_name, privilege
FROM dba_tab_privs
WHERE grantee = 'SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE'however, it would probably be easier just to grant it SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE :-)

Data in read-only form disappearing on action

Hi all,
I've been troubleshooting this issue for a few days now and haven't found anybody reporting similar problems. I have a user profile page fragment displayed in a region. The profile to be displayed is selected from a list of users on another page fragment within the same task flow. Selecting the user works fine; the correct data is displayed when the profile page first loads.
The problem is that any time an event happens on the page, the data completely disappears. Originally, I had the data displayed in an accordion panel (one show detail item for name/status/email addresses, another for physical addresses, and another for phone numbers), and the data would disappear as soon as I tried to disclose a different show detail item. I thought it might have been an issue specifically with the disclosure event, so I recreated the page without any show detail elements. This time it's still displaying all the correct data, but as soon as I click a 'next' or 'previous' operation to cycle through the currently displayed address/email/phone entry, the data disappears again.
For reference/in case it matters: The user profile view object is connected to the address, email, and phone ones via view links. Has anybody seen this before, or know what might be causing it?

Hello again,
I was in the middle of building out a test case this morning when our senior developer fixed the problem. The way that I had the page configured, there was an Execute with Params call on page load (done through an executable on the page bindings). We're pretty sure the problem was that the button was triggering a partial page refresh and calling the Execute with Params again; effectively advancing the iterator as it should, but then querying fresh data again. It sounds like he instead put a chunk of code in a backing bean to query the data only if the ID bindings had changed.

Keep getting a read only message and have to save with different name

I am editing some pdf files, and every time I save I get the message: "The file may be read only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder."
However, when I right click the file and click properties, it is not listed as a read only file. Nor is the directory read only. Having to save each file as a different name is driving me nuts. Is there a fix?

Is this file saved on a network drive, or a shared folder?
If so, it's possible someelse in the network has it open at the same time as you.

Selectively mark Excel columns in MDS as Read-Only

Is there an internally supported feature in MDS 2012 Excel add-in wherein we can set some columns (e.g Code column) as Read-Only? The use case we're trying to evaluate is to not allow users to make changes to the Business Key column of an entity (populated
from an actual DW dimension) and instead accept changes to only a few attributes. We'd want to display the read-only attributes for informational purposes to the user.

The logged in user has Read-only permissions to one or more values in the row and the value(s) cannot be updated.

No values in the row have been changed in the worksheet. This does not mean the values in the repository have not changed; to get the latest data in the sheet, in the
Connect and Load group, click Load or Refresh.
This is the default setting for each row.

Master Data Services Add-in based on the user permission to determine the data is read-only or not. It is not possible to mark some column as Read-only.

LDAP (ADS Read-only) as UME Datasource

Hi Gurus!
We have configured MS Active Directory (Read only) as our UME Datasource. When I look in the logs in NWA (Last 24 hours) I get the following error:
application [webdynpro/dispatcher] Cannot send an HTTP error response [500 Application error occurred during request processing. (details: java.lang.NullPointerException: null)].
The error is: com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.exceptions.WebIOException: An attempt to write after the stream had been closed.
Exception id: [0003BA7EDA0D002000000003000067A800044F969D23BA8F]
My theory:
1. May be the Portals is trying to write to AD and giving this error. Since the AD is read only it is giving this error.
2. The log time is the same as my login time; so it may be trying to log my last logged time (last successfull login) onto my user record and failing.
Does my theory hold water? Can you gurus suggest other theories or resolutions?

Access read-only LDAP for username/password, Directory Server LDAP for rest

Hello! I keep trying to find documentation on the above, but thus far I have been unable to find something that explains this well (and my attempts at figuring out thus far have failed).
I have a read-only LDAP that is used University wide, and I am not allowed to change how it currently operates. It uses double-bind authentication in that you search for a user to get their DN, then bind to that DN with the users password to see if it was correct.
I'd like to use the above setup to verify a user's credential as well as return some basic information about them (name, email, etc). After this, I'd like to use another freshly installed Directory Server LDAP to manage the roles that seem to be needed for Portal Server (as I cannot write to the original LDAP).
Any help or advice on the above would be appreciated! Thank you.

The authentication you described is the default way LDAP authentication works.
AM Ldap auth-module allows you to 'pull' attributes from the LDAP server you're using for authentication and store it in it's 'amSDK' Directory Server - which is leveraged by Portal Server (if you're talking about Sun's Portal Server).
However this is only done if the profile is created (set 'dynamic profile generation' in auth - service).
As Portal Server does not support the new 'identity repsoistory API' of AM you have to stick to AM's legacy mode when using Portal Server.
To keep the the data in sync (if needed) you have to write a post-auth class.

then I wanted use data pump(expdp) for exporting a schema but I encounter this error

You need to use NETWORK_LINK, so the required tables are created in a read/write database and the data is read from the read only database using a database link:
SYSTEM@db_rw> create database link db_r_only

I found in Metalink the bug 7331929 which is solved in 11.2! I haven't tested this procedure with prior versions or with 11g so I don't know if this bug only affects to 10.2.0.4 or 10* and 11.1*

Virt-install hangs at "Write protecting the kernel read-only data",

I am trying to Install Oracle Linux 5.4 as a Paravirtualized Machine on an Oracle VM Server (2.2.1).
Following are the steps that I followed:
I have the dvd iso file on /OVS/iso_pool

Yes I am able to connect to the guest vnc console, and proceed with the install.
I did, Choose a language, choose a keyboard, configure TCP/IP, Manual TCP/IP configuration, after this I am getting a message "That directory could not be mounted from the server"
I tried giving the IPAdress of the OVM Server where the directory was mounted, nothing is working. I cannot proceed any further.

You have mentioned you want to read only text files.
If you are referring to some specific set of extentions, you can filter based on that.
