Hi,
I would like to know how data encryption in Oracle 9i
differes from that of Oracle 9i database.
Thanks in advance

Is it possible to perform network data encryption between Oracle 11g databases without the advance security option?
We are not licensed for the Oracle Advanced Security Option and I have been tasked to use Oracle Network Data Encryption in order to encryption network traffic between Oracle instances that reside on remote servers. From what I have read and my prior understanding this is not possible without ASO. Can someone confirm or disprove my research, thanks.

    Hi, Srini Chavali-Oracle
As for http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/options/advanced-security/advanced-security-ds-12c-1898873.pdf?ssSourceSiteId… ASO is mentioned as TDE and Redacting Sensitive Data to Display. Network encryption is excluded.
As for Network Encryption - Oracle FAQ (of course this is not Oracle official) "Since June 2013, Net Encryption is now licensed with Oracle Enterprise Edition and doesn't require Oracle Advanced Security Option." Could you clarify this? Thanks.

  • How can we do the data migration between Oracle Applications and SAP R/3.

    Hi All,
How can we do the data migration between Oracle Applications and SAP R/3 system. What are all the possible ways to move bulk data from Oracle Apps to SAP r/3 system.
Provide any 3rd party tools which supports data migration and also pls rpovide the SAP's own data migration tools with supports the above feature.
    Awaiting for best possible solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Dharmaraju

the 3rd party tool is ETL , you can use ETL tool and the prepare the load files then you can use LSMW method to upload the data to SAP.

  • Data Guard with Oracle 9i and 10g -- have you done it?

We have an ERP system (JDEdwards, db size approx 600 GB) and we'd like to copy the data in this system to a database on another computer. We'd use the remote database for reporting, so we need it to be available. We are looking at using Data Guard running in Logical Standby mode.
The ERP database is Oracle 9i, and we are considering having the Logical Standby database be 10g. Have you done this and if so, what was your experience?
Here's why we want to do this. There are many tables in the ERP database that contain descending indexes. We can't change this, and it is not supported with Data Guard under Oracle 9.2. Tables with descending indexes do not copy to the logical standby database.
We were told that this is corrected in a newer release of Oracle, and we were wondering if a 10g database would properly copy tables with descending indexes.
Thanks in advance for any experiences you can share.
    Best Regards,
    Mike

What you are trying to do might not be possible. Because when you create logical standby you have to create a physical standby first and convert it. Primary and standby have to be same version.
In furture it might be possible because 10G will support rolling upgrade of logical standby.
However even it's possible you have to go through a lot of pain to setup and maintain it because Oracle don't support the setup.
What you could try are Stream and Replication, I will say Stream is very interesting one. Because Oracle say : "Oracle Streams and Oracle Data Guard (including Data Guard SQL Apply) are independent features based on some common underlying infrastructure and technology. "

  • Data Replication between Oracle 9i and 10g

    Hello,
I have a question regarding possible Replication Models between Oracle 9i and 10g. Does anybody know a possible way to syncronize the schema data between a 9i and 10g database in realtime?
If yes can you please post perhaps a link with a kind of how to?
    Many thanks to all,
    Bob...

You can read this metalink note 370850.1 - there are bit more ways of replication discussed.
Yes, platforms can be different, but recomendation is to use the same platform for both databases.

  • Data exchange between Oracle DB and JD Edwards

    Hi all,
We have an Oracle 10g EE database which we maintain. The financial system is using JD Edwards. We need to provide them some daily information(payments) Also they need to send us some data( payment reconciliation). My questions are:
    1. What kind of interaction is posible between Oracle db and JD Edwards?
    2. What database does JD Edwards internally use? Is in an Oracle db?
    3. Is there an ODBC driver available for interaction?
    4. Does JD Edwards handle credit card payments?
Please, can you give me an answer quick, we need it by the end of today for a proposal..
Excuse my lack of knoledge, but we never worked with JD Edwards before...
    Thank you

#2 All the JD Edwards installations I have ever come across were on AS400 (iSeries I believe is the new name) …their niche on the application software market was the fact that they were running so well integrated with that particular platform. AS400 comes bundled with [one of the many flavors of] DB2 … that is, no extra license required. Oracle has never had an AS400 port … so I doubt you’ll find Oracle underneath your JD Edwards installation.
#1 “some daily payment information” suggests batch type integration and relatively small in scope … all systems/applications have some sort of data loader and there are always ways to get data out into files … so a custom, file-based little integration mechanism could be all that you need. I did work once in such a little project … the JD Edwards specialists in the company did their part of loading and loading on their side … we did the same on the Oracle side … we agreed on file formats, content, schedules, a common/secure drop zone in the network etc. and that was pretty much it. The point is, there must be some JD Edwards people in your company you should get involved in the discussion/proposal.
#3 An ODBC driver for DB2 on AS400 very likely exists … keep in mind though that this means the integration will be at a low level (table level) … many applications expose integration points at the API level (application level). Again, you have to get the JD Edwards people on board.
My last points … if you have Oracle in house then call your Oracle representative … Oracle owns JD Edwards … you may get better answers or re-directs there. Also look if your company has any middleware software already … contact the vendor and see what they have to say

  • Data extracted from Oracle ASCP and presented in OBI

    Hello,
I work for a company using the Oracle APS suite and for demand management and supply planning. The ASCP (Advanced Supply Chain Planning) tool is the key tool for our end user planners.
What are the interfaces like between Oracle APS and OBI?
Are there any OBI users who have enjoyed success using OBI to present the detailed data out of ASCP? The users report that getting visibility to the data in ASCP using the out of the box ASCP functionality is very limited.
I am interested in general feedback and any suggestions on where to get more information or perhaps to read about how other companies are using APS/OBI together.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Jim Shaughnessy

One way of doing this is setup Heterogeneous Database connections

I am sure there's other options out there.

  • Migrate existing data base to oracle 10g and cluster it

    hi
we are currently using sql server 2000 and due to some servere dead locks in the application and due to some load issues we wanted to migrate it to oracle 10g.
At the same time we wanted to have clustered environment in the same server
    That is windows server.
Can any one suggest how migration can be done..easily ie..by oracle migration work bench or what...
At the same time can any one suggest how to cluster data base in windows server
    Thanks

This is re-engineering from one database platform to another.
You will have to take into consideration several aspects of your application, from SQL comptability to the application performance (SQL) in the Oracle environment.
There is no magic to this puzzle, the amount of task involved in moving from one database to another depends on complixity of the application and how many database operations will have to be changed. I would suggest /recommend that you should start with a POC on a specific module /area (probably the most complex) of your application and this should give you some idea in the efforts of doing so.

  • Data duplicated between Oracle GL and ERPI

    Hi
We are using ERPI to load data from Oracle eBS to Hyperion Planning. (version 11.1.2.1)
Rows are duplicated between Oracle eBS GL (table GL_BALANCES) and ERPI (table TDATASEG).
Thanks in advance for your help

If the ODI process is being started multiple times by FDM you need to update the iisproxy ini file with the following 2 lines:
    HungServerRecoverSecs=3600
    WLIOTimeoutSecs=3600
You may have multiple copies of the ini file on the server so do a search and update them all.

I know Oracle intended to introduce stronger encryption in 9i, but I thought they did that by adding new procedures. I know they occasionally change the hashing algorithm, so you have to be careful with stored passwords and the like. But if they really have screwed up the DESEncrypt function, that is very poor.
I would recommend you contact Support about it. If you don't have a support contract and this is a bug then I think the only thing you can do is to restore your 8i database, decrypt the data, then do the ungrade and re-encrypt. But this sort of thing really ought to be in the Release Notes.
    Good luck, APC

  • Tablespace data encryption

    HI ,
i was reading about the tablespace data encryption in oracle applications 11i.so i have certain doubts.please clear my doubts.
    * Is it necessary that the whenever we startup the database we need to open the wallet in order to allow the users to access the table data or privileged users will be capable of accessing the table data
    * How the privileged users will be getting authenticated to access the table data
Normally when we encrpt the create the wallet is it necessary that we should encrypt the table data
What is the purpose of opening the wallet. If we open the wallet is it necessary that we have to decrpt the table data or opening the wallet i more enough to aoolow the users to access the table data
    please clear my confusions
    Regards
    Aram

    Hi Rajeesh,
Thanks for the link to the tutorial. I went through the steps and got to the part where you actually create the encrypted tablespace. I skipped the column encryption since I will not be using that method. The tablespace creation failed via EM as it has before so I tried it at the command prompt as directed in the tutorial. It failed as well as it has before:
SQL> create tablespace obe datafile '/u01/oradata/test/obe.dbf' size 100M
    2 encryption default storage (encrypt);
create tablespace obe datafile '/u01/oradata/test/obe.dbf' size 100M
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28374: typed master key not found in wallet
I suspect re-keying will fail as well. Are there additional log files with more detail in them that might hint at the problem?
    Thanks.
    Dan.

  • Replication between Oracle Server and MS SQL Server

    Hello,
Does anybody know of a well known or reliable software that can do data replication between Oracle Server and Microsoft SQL server.

The only place where I have seen Streams being used around me is within Oracle db only. May be someone else can help if he/she has done it.
