Data extraction procedure

Can anyone tell me step by step procedure to extract data from R3 to BI System?
If possible plz provide some screen shots....

giving you very very broad overview.....
Assuming that it is a standard BI content extractor. Following are the steps:
In R3:
1. Go to RSA5. Select the required ds. and click on 'Activate datasource'
2. Go to RSA6 in case you want to add/remove/enhance selection fields.
In BW
1. Replicate the datasource
2. activate the standard DSO / Cube, which are relevant to your selection.
3. create Info package to extract the data
4. create transfomration & DTP betwn datasouce and info provider

Dear Experts,
We have got the requirement to create reports on shipment details. Based on the requirement we have identified the
Infosouce/ Data source : 0OI_TD_OIGSII
Info Cube: 0OI_TDC01. we think this cube will satisfy the requiremnt.
But the problem is the data source is not delta enabled. so how do we extract the data and how to capture the delta.
These data sources are IS OIL specific, so dont know the data extraction procedure.

I don't know the module oil.
1. what is the selection in your infopackage - a date?
2. can you decide: in which time selection you have changes in the data: for example the last 12 month?
3. create a DSO and load the data.
4. load the delta in a infocube.

PS and PY data extraction.

Hi all,
I need to do the standard content extraction for PS and PY module.
Are the extraction procedure same as FI modlule ?
Do we need to fill set up tables in this case.
What are the settings need to be done for extraction.

How to add new fields to a data extract

The following data extract program generates an output file which is displayed using a publisher template as a check format report.

[sap-bw] SAP HR data extraction errors....into BI 7.0 ...from ECC 6.0..

Hi Gurus,
We are doing HR data extraction with the following details:
Cube: 0PT_C01 - Time and Labor
data source: 0HR_PT_1 - Times from personal work schedule
Records in ECC: 15mill +.
"Init load with Data "is being loaded in packets of 40K records (400 packets approx).
Each time we load (we tried reloading after deleting data and reinit) it is loading same records. But it is giving the following error. Surprisingly this error is coming for different packets in different loads. for ex: 1st time packet 6...2nd time packet 58....3rd time 122 etc.....it keeps changing...

Diagnosis
An error occurred during program generation for InfoSource 0HR_PT_1 and
InfoProvider 0PT_C01 . This may be extrapolated to incorrect update
rules.
Procedure
Check and correct your update rules and then generate the update program
again. You can find help on the error in the error log.
We reactivated and verfieid update rules. But no use.
Appreciate any kind of help.

Thanks for the help.
We tried the following one by one.
1. Delete and recreate update rules. To be frank....there is no CODING or complication in there...
     It did not work.
2. Tried loading only to PSA. It loaded 15mill records perfectly. But when we tried updating target cube,
    same story with many more errors.....earlier we had 10 packages failed out of 387.......
     this time almost every alternate package is marked red and same error....update generating update
     program.....
Hope somebody will come up with a solution.

Hi,
Use UD connect procedure to extract the data from Informatica or SQL server. you just need to create a new source system with the parrameters that can connect and read the SQL sever.
There is another way of extracting it through DB connect as well, but I recommend you to go through the UD connect procedure to extract the data.
Check with your basis team to setup a source system for SQL server if you are not aware of how to as it is purely based on TCP/IP.
you need to create a source system as trird pary and supply the parrameters to it. Create a TCP/IP connection in SM59 to that source system where it need por numbers, schemas, alias etc to connect to the SQL server.
Browse for UD connect in WIKI, will guide you good docs.

I am looking for help regarding SRM DataSource Extraction to BW. I am working on BW project and need to extract data from SRM Data Source 0BBP_TD_CONTR_2 and 0SRM_TD_PRO. I need to know about the extraction process from SRM. Is there a tool available like LO Cockpit in SRM for extraction and how can we manage the delta in it. Or i can use the T-code RSA5 for that and follow the normal process. If I can get some documentation that can give me an idea for data extraction and delta management in SRM that would be appreciated. Any kind of help will be welcome.

DATA EXTRACTION FROM ORACLE & SYBASE

Good day. This is my first posting in this site. I am new to Oracle and have a question regarding Data extraction from Oracle and Sybase.
My project has two applications one having Oracle as the database and the other has Sybase as the database. On the proposed production schedule, there would be a interface data update from the Oracle database to the Sybase database.
My aim is to check if the data update is in sync after the update. We plan to extract the data from the two databases (Oracle and Sybase) and compare in a Third Party tool. We have the tool to compare. Can any of you suggest a nice data extraction tool. I have to set this data extraction as a batch in the nightly batch schedule.

Sybase provides the best data extraction utility called BCP. You can load and extract data. It is very user friendly. From your unix prompt if you type in BCP ? you will all the switches and
help messages you need to use. It is so simple.
Oracle dosn't have such a utility to extract data from table.
You need to write a Stored procedure and use UTF_FILE package to
extract data from table and write into a file.

Ho to automate data extraction from KSB1 and GR55 transaction code

Can you please let me know if their is a way to automate data extraction from transaction code KSB1 and GR55. I have to extract data from 5 different servers .i.e different server for each region and again i have different controlling area codes in each region. Following are the details which i use to extract the data. It takes too long for me to extract data from all this regions and controlling area codes using my parameters. It's very time consuming so i want to automate this process. I am end user so i don't have any admin rights. Please let me know any workable solution asap.
Production areas : PNA for Americas, PSI for Asia Pacific and Japan, PGY for Germany, PIT for Italy and PEU for Europe
Controlling area codes in PNA : CAR for Argentina, CBR for Brazil, CMX for Mexico and CUS for USA. Same way there so may other controlling area codes for all other production areas

Here follows a translation from German:
SAP GUI (client) for Windows enable
Start SAP Logon and log on to the SAP server.
Click the button on the toolbar to adjust for Local Layout.
Click Options and then click the tab for the scripting.
Select the Enable checkbox for scripting.
Disable the checkbox for Notify when a script is assigned to an active GUI and the checkbox for Notify when a script opens a connection.
Save the settings and restart the SAP GUI again.
SAP-server enable
With the following procedure, you can enable scripting by the SAP client temporarily. The specified value in this way is lost when you restart the server.
Start SAP Logon and log on to the SAP server.
Start a transaction RZ11.
Enter sapgui / user_scripting in the window to manage the profile parameters.
Click on ads.
Click in the window to display the profile parameter attributes to change value.
Enter TRUE in the field for a new value.
Save the settings and log out from the SAP GUI.
Quit the SAP Logon.
Note:
If the server administrator edited the application server profile of the SAP system to sapgui / user_scripting = TRUE to include the scripting is enabled when you restart the server by default.
SAP provides an option to change the network connection mode at any server. The following two connection modes are available: high-speed connection (LAN) and connecting with a slow speed. Although Functional Tester works in both modes, the high-speed connection with a recorded script is played only in this mode. This also applies to other modes. They must reflect your SAP script in the same network connection mode, with which the script was recorded. It is recommended that the mode of "high-speed connection, as it offers a greater number of valid recognition properties.

Features of the InfoSource
As of PlugIn2002.2, it is no longer necessary to have DataSources linked. This means that you can now load 0FI_GL_4, 0FI_AR_4, 0FI_AP_4 and 0FI_TX_4 in any order. You also have the option of using DataSources 0FI_AR_4, 0FI_AP_4 and 0FI_TX_4 separately without 0FI_GL_4. The DataSources can then be used independently of one another (see note 551044).
Note
As soon as DataSource 0FI_GL_4 is loaded, it is the leading DataSource with regard to the time limits such as maximum time (CPU date) up to which data extraction is allowed.
Therefore, when the transition is made from having data requirements in Delta Init mode to having them in pure Delta operation, the data requirement in delta mode of leading DataSource (OFI_GL_4) must be processed first.
Linking of DataSources in the delta helps to ensure consistent extraction of FI data with regard to time limits. Consistency with regard to the data extracted has to be ensured via the init selection criteria.
Note
This InfoSource is delta-compatible. However, due to the Delta procedure used (after image Delta) it is not suitable for loading InfoCubes directly. An ODS object can be used as data target in order to identify the changes made to individual InfoObjects when loading Delta data.

i checked listed note and implemented the same but still its showing me something in LBWE. i deleted all setup data for all the application data using tcode LBWG but its still showing in LBWE tcode.

Diagnosis
Changing the extract structure for application 04 is not permitted, because the restructure table MC04P_0ARBSETUP for the extractor still contains data in 800.
You cannot change the structure in this status, because when you load an InfoPackage from BW, this leads to errors.
Procedure
Delete the entries for all restructure tables for application 04.

I am new for MDM Generic Extraction concept and understand the process up to generation of XSD and XML file generation. Below are the doubts in my mind. Please help me to get clear.
1. What is the use of XSD file generation. Is it used for source template for MDM import manager?
2. What is the use of Time out option in 'Define Repositories and FTP Server Details'.
3. How will import generated multiple XML files into MDM server via Import Manager. For Ex

SAP has delivered standard extraction for Reference Data and for Master Data
The T-Code MDMGX is for Reference Data and it is used to load the Sub Table of MDM
The MDM business content contains the standard ports and maps which is required for reference data
The below thread explains the procedure to configure the MDMGX
Extract Data usnig MDMGX
There are sequences in extarcting the data.You can load only the revelant sub tables which is used in your repository using the selection creteria.
There is no XI/PI required as you can configure FTP or you can download it your desktop and manually load
Master Data Extraction
The T-Code MDM_CLNT_EXTR is used for the Master Data Extraction.
The distribution model is required for this and the configuration at PI is required
