Data Federator with BW 3.5

Hi Experts,
We are using Data Federator and connected to our Client BW 3.5 Oracle Data base directly.
We were looking to connect to below Cube and Ods tables
InfoProviders Table Names
InfoCube ZSD_BILDP /BIC/EZSD_BILDP, /BIC/FZSD_BILDP
ODS Object ZDP_O04 /BIC/AZDP_O0400
ODS Object ZDP_O03 /BIC/AZDP_O0300
ODS Object ZDP_O02 /BIC/AZDP_O0200
ODS Object ZDP_O01 /BIC/AZDP_O0100
But we are not able to see the above tables in Data Federator and all the tables we are seeing is
SAPBIW.?22FBIO?22fsMAT_ITEM
SAPBIW.?22FBIO?22fsMAT_PLANT
Can you suggest how can I see the Cube and Ods Tables directly in DF Designer???
P.S: I did worked with DF in BI 7.0 with my previous Client and it has got the RSDRI_DF_* Functional Modules in SE37, but to new Client we have requirement to use DF with BW3.5 which is becoming troublesome to get to Cube and Ods tables.

Hi Ingo,
  Thanks for responding.
We are directly connecting to BW Oracle Data Base and not the BW/BI integration as we don't have the DF* Functional
  Modules present in BW 3.5
Find below couple of Connection Parameters using which I am connecting to BW from DF Designer.
Data Source Type -- Oracle
Defined resource -- jdbc.oracle.oracle10
Host name        -- xxx.xx.xxx.xx(not specifying here due to security)
Port             -- 1xxx
SID              -- XXX
Table types TABLE and VIEW
Thanks,
Suresh

  • Data federator 32/64 bit with SAP?

We have a problem in Data federator that after the installation in "data source" there should be an SAP value that isn't there (this shold be active after SP).
We have installed the multi platform edition in both 32 and 64 bit version, and also SP2 IA32 and 64.
I've tries the both versions 32 and 64.
Does anyone know how to sole this?
    regards Jacob

To be more exact on what my colleague is describing above, the data source type that is missing is the SAP NW BW not SAP.  Also, we have SAP NW BI 7.01 level 7, DF XI 3.0 SP2 and BOE 3.1 installed.
    Thank you.
    Best regards,

  • Error when creating a new user in Data Federator XI 3.0

    Hi there,
I am completely new to Data Federator so please bear with me.
I have successfully created a new user but I am not able to run the command:
GRANT EXECUTE ON PROCEDURE executeUpdateNativeQuery TO user1
as I get the following error: Incorrect procedure name: 'executeUpdateNativeQuery' (Error code: 10000)
I am following page 482 of the Data Federator User Guide.
    Thanks!

    Hi Jason
There is a typo in the documentation, the name of the procedure is:
    executeNativeUpdateQuery
By the way, you can get the full procedure list by entering the following query in the administrator
    SELECT * FROM leselect.system.procedures
    Hope this helps,

  • Data federator

    Hello Experts,
I am just wondering how is Data federator to create Web Intelligence reports on top of SAP BW Infoproviders using Relational universe instead of OLAP universe.
My requirement is that we want to create universes with all the custom objects for calculations in it instead of creating them in bex query or in some in reporting level.
Please advise and also I would appreciate if some can  please provide me some links on Data federator.
    Thanks.
    Rag

Data Federator uses the Data Federator facade to query the BW analytic engine, bypassing the OLAP MDX engine.  It transforms the data into relational structures.  You can then query these relational tables using a universe and webi.

  • Data Federator connection from universe - commProtocol EBUS error

I am working with a prospect that is attempting to get a universe to communicate with DataFederator via JDBC.  We modified the jdbc.sbo file and added the line
    <Paramter Name="URL format">jdbc:datafederator://$DATASOURCE$;catalog'&quot';$DATABASE$'&quot';;commProtocol=EBUS</Parameter>
(single quotes were added above to preserver contents in quote marks, they are not really in the file)
along with the appropriate classpaths, per the XI3 datafederator release notes.  However when the customer tries to connect via the connection manager in the universe the following error is thrown:
[Data Federator Driver] Invalid identifier for site wrapper in parameter 'commProtocol'. Reason: EBUS
Has anybody seen an error like this, and have any suggestion on how to correct it?
    Thank you.

    Hi Eric,
Can you tell me which version of Data Federator and BOE you are using?
It looks like you tried to configure Data Federator JDBC driver with a commProtocol that is not supported by this version of DF.
Are you using Data Federator XI 3.0 SP1 (12.1.0.0) or later version?
You can check the version of the Data Federator JDBC driver you are using by clicking "Test Connection" in Universe Designer. You will see the driver and database (DF) versions.
Make sure you are using the 12.1.0.0 version or later for both driver and server.

  • Data Federator connecting to BW 3.5

I would like to use the Data Federator against a BW 3.5 system - is it possible to connect the DF to BW? Can someone help me with either documentation or how to do that. I'm currently using a OLAP universe and the performance is not very good
    Thanks for the Help

Did you find a solution to this ?
there is a SAP to Data federator guide available did you try this ?

  • Data Federator data source not available causes Universe Connection error

I created a Data Federator project that connects to 20 servers across US and Canada.  All data sources are SQL Server 2005.  The DF project maps 40 source objects into 4 target objects.  I created a universe based on the DF project and we have been quite pleased with Webi query response.  Today one of the source servers was taken off line and this generated a connection error when trying to access the universe (not trying to access the data source that failed).  We do not want the universe connection to error when one source server is not available u2013 is that possible?
If the answer is no then I see us abandoning what appears to be a great solution for real time distributed reporting and resorting to ETL and moving data.

    Hi Chapman,
Can you be little elobrate on what you have done to solve the issue.
    Thanks,

  • Data Federator question.

Can anyone explain the concept of using Data Federator. Does DF store data? Does DF harmonize master data at all?
Or is DF intended to just merge SAP BW transactional data with transactional data from other source systems?
We have SAP BW system and some other source systems to report from. We are being advised to use DF and develop relational universe over it.

    Hi puneet,
DF does not store any data. As you mentioned in ur post, DF intended to just merge SAP BW transactional data with transactional data from other source systems.
Refer to the links below for more details,

  • Data Federator- Merging two source tables

    Hi,
I have two identically structured source tables and i need to merge them together to a target table.
    For Example:-
    Source Table1=  { (A,10), (B,11), (C,12) }
    +
    Source Table2=  { (D,15), (E,16), (F,17) }
    Target Table=  { (A,10), (B,11), (C,12), (D,15), (E,16), (F,17)}
Can you please help on how achieve this in data federator.
    Thanks in advance.

For Merge - Create a target table with your desired end columns A - E.  Create 2 seperate mappings and map the respective columnns from each source.
For Join - Create a target table with your desired end columns A - E.  Create 1 mappings and map the respective columnns from each source and also creating the necessary relationship between tables.

  • Data Federator - Hierarchies and Text Descriptions

    Hi,
I am trying to create WEBI reports on the top of SAP BW. The universe is connecting to SAP BW via Data Federator. I am facing issues with the hierarchy creation. The hierarchies created in the InfoProvider (Multicube - from CRM data source) are not available in the Universe.  I can't create the hierarchies in the universe as all the levels of the hierarchy are not available in the multicube. I need to get the hierarchy data from the CRM data source directly. But the valid sources for DF with respect to SAP BW are just cubes. Kindly let me know if there are any workarounds. Please let me know if more details are needed.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

    Hi
Officially SAP BW hierarchies are not suppoerted for the Data Federator  (http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/LeveragingDataFederatorinSAP+integrations). What you can do is to use also the SAP R/3 connector (SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence Reporting for SAP ERP [original link is broken] .Note this is prototype not a product) and fetch your CRM data also in the virtual tables of the DF. Still you have to rebuild your hierarchies manually in the universe.

  • Data Federator data lineage and impact analysis

    Hi,
I am looking for the use of data lineage and impact analysis feature in data federator at Universe level.
Can I know which objects are using which fields by uisng impact feature in the data federator.
    Thanks in Advance.

I realize this answer is a cop out but I'll suggest it anyway. Upgrade.
I struggled with getting the lineage and impact analysis working in 10.1 and had to do quite a bit of trial and error in the Apache configuration files, DAD's ,etc. because the lineage reports were web based. I never got them working in Production due to other much more pressing implementation issues at the time and never went back to fix them.
In 10.2 and above the reports are much easier to get with no real configuration needed.
Anyway, back to your question, I would suggest going back through the 10.1 documentation on getting those to work and have someone a bit familiar with setting up Apache help you. I did get them working in our Test environment but its been so long I can't recall all the steps and tricks, sorry.

  • Data Federator - Building Web Services Data Source - Request Guidance

    Hello -
I am trying to build a web services data source in Data Federator.
    I have:
    1. In ECC, I have created a web service, proxy, port, endpoint, etc. and am testing it with WS Navigator
    2. I have created a Project in Data Federator of the type web service
        a. Here I have assigned the WSDL URL (generated in ECC) as the URL
        b. I have setup web service authentication using the same userid, pwd in the web services definition (note: I have set the
web services authentication to 'NONE' to avoing authorization issues)\
        c. I am now trying to "Generate Operations"
I keep getting the error :
The File Access Parameters are not valid (directory path = <HERE IS THE PATH TO THE WSDL WITH THE HOST/PORT stripped OUT>; file pattern = document
I believe that it is finding the WSDL, becuase when I change the WSDL from 'Document' to 'RPC', the error changes with the file pattern = rpc.
What needs to be done to the file access parameter piece.
    PLEASE provide guidance.  Thanks.

    Ananya,
We are using XI to load data to BI from source system. XI basically uses the same concept as Web Services - Real time data concept via RFC embeded in Proxies.
I was using web services to test data load - eventually we will use XI.
KJs blog is pretty good. I was able to get data loaded - after several iterations and several OSS notes. It is still not perfect - there are several manual steps . I am going to pick KJs brain on that.
We are on SP10 and looks like there are several bugs in RSRDA. Some of these are addressed in SP11 an SP12.
    Some notes to consider are
    0001003963, 0001008276,0001009260 and 001003265.
Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Data Federator ODS Problem

    Hi All,
I´m building a scenario in SAP BO Data Federator where we connect to a table in BW (ODS) and with a jdbc connector we get the data to build a universe in UniDesigner.
The problem is that the data returned by data federator doesnt match the data in BW, we always get less records in Data Federator when we perfom the query in data federator query tool.
Can anyone give a clue whats happening and where to start looking? we already did a trace in BW (ST05) and the SQL statement seems to be right.
    thanks,
    Pedro

    Hi,
I had the same ODS error when generating the databasis.
This error we have been solved now.
But do you know how to correct the following error:
For Goodwill Data two indices are created which are completely identical. This leads to an error. How to solve this problem?
    Thanks for brief feedback.

  • Data Federator not fetching data USING Netweaver BI Connector

    Hi Gurus,
We have upgraded the BW system to use the Data federator.
callback ID that SAP NetWeaver BI uses to contact Data Federator has been configured as mentioned in guide.
we have already configured the CONNECTOR and we are able to test the connection in DF Designer and the connection is successful. i am able to see the list of fact tables and i am saving the data source and making it final and deployying my project .
i am using the jdbc connection and  data federator strategy and  the strategy is also creating the joins and classed automatically. when i export my universe and try to create the webintelligence report i am unable to see the data .even when i execute with one  object  and one keyfigure it is same .
even when i test my data source in designer to view the data using query tester tool it is also not able show the data it takes huge time and no data getting retrieved .
i would appreciate if you could help me with this issue
    Regards and thanks

    Hi,
Which version of Data Federator are you using ? Direct access to ECC table is not yet supported using Data Federator.
