Data filtering based on validation for SAP MDM

Hi Experts,
My requirement is to filter data coming in to MDM via PI so that only those records are posted to MDM which pass that logic.
I guess validation in PI can filter data based on logic defined.
Please guide me how to achieve this.

Can start date be set before valid for date for an equipment?

Hello,
Generally when a asset/equipment is purchased that is the valid from date and when commissioning done and it becomes operational then that date is start up date. So logically start up date should not before valid from date, it could be same.
Can you elaborate why you want start up date before valid from date ?

Scenarios bundle and sample excel files for customer for SAP MDM

Hi:
In SAP MDM we have the business content which has the archive of the models like customer etc. We also get scenarios bundle with some sample data for customer to load into the above model.
I have the archive but not teh excel files/Scenarios bundle for customer. So I am not sure where can i download it from on SAP network. I could not locate them in the dump of software and not sure if it is not downloaded.

Apart from this, I was not able to find sample data for Customer Master, however, I have got sample repositories for Business Partner and Product Repositories.
MDM Business Partner Repository : consists of 21,000 records that are partly ITelO related. Each record is made up of the following attribute groups: Personal Data, Address Data, and Communication Data

It all depends on the kind of role you aim at or how you want to sell yourself.
I dont think programming knowledge is required for core SAP MDM related work but it all depends on the role in hand,project requirement,landscape,customization etc.
I will like to add that SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management (SAP NetWeaver MDM) can provide a single version of master data for supplier, product, customer, or user-defined data objects in heterogeneous environments.
It is not only a tool but a part of strategy.It has to interact various SAP as well as legacy systems for data related operations.
SAP provides its users with set of APIs which one can use to achieve customization as per their requirement.
There are ABAP,JAVA and .NET APIs provided by SAP for this purpose.
In all,having a coding experience in any of the above languages would certainly be a plus.

I have checked the packages and the XFree86-libs-4.3.99 is not installed. I guess I will have to install it.
Now your question about oracle user. I am not sure if you have performed any SAP MDM installation with ORACLE RDBMS but the installation guide is totally different than the normal SAP inst guides. Indeed someone needs to install separately SAP MDM and ORACLE and in my installation I do not install NetWeaver since it is not mandatory for the testing phase of the project. You can have a look at the guide (it is very poor -no reference to ORACLE details):

So the official ORACLE inst gudie says to install the ORACLE software with the oracle user.

Pre req's for SAP MDM

I am working on j2EE technologies for past 2 years and planning to move to SAP MDM. Will it be easy to move to MDM(i understand there will be a learning curve, but still!) or do I need to fulfill any pre req's to learn it. If so, what will be those?

if you are planning to become a MDM technical Consultant, then your experience in J2EE will prove very helpful. you can easily explore and develop using Java API and web services.
If you have little bit of ABAP, XI and Enterprise Portal, that would be plus point. but it is not mandatory, you can learn MDM without having good knowledge of these.

Winshuttle does not provide any connectors specifically for NetWeaver MDM. Connectivity can be achieved from Winshuttle forms and workflow through generic web service plugins.

If you are using ABAP APIs then normal ABAP knowledge will come in handy
If u want to connect your MDM server to a portal system, then Portal knowledge will come in handy
Even the basic MDM scenarios are generally done by using Exchange Infrastructure
so basic knowledge of that is essential

i am creating ADF 10g Form based on the Web service data control. on the form a InventoryItem Drop Down List and a Serial Number Drop Down List. if i select a Inventoryitem item from the list i have to get the serial numbers in the serialnumber dropdown list based on the selected inventory item. can any one tell me how can i achieve this ....
as i am using Web service Data Control method for dragging the method.. the wsdc and viewObjects DataControl created from Model Jpr does not have any link. here how we have to link both the above fields if i use the Dependent List

Can you explain in a bit more detail on what the webservice is doing ? Is the inventory item a parameter to a web service method that returns the serial numbers ? Or is it that the Inventory is comming from the BC4J data control and you want a selection in that list to be passed as a parameter to a WSDC method ?

Data Import from SAP R/3 to SAP MDM 7.1 without SAP PI

Hi All,
I have a requirement to import Vendor Master data from SAP R/3 to SAP MDM 7.1 on a regular basis. What are the Options available for data transfer between these two systems without any middleware(like SAP PI,etc). I checked the SAP Documentation and found the scenarios with SAP PI as middleware.
I have few very basic ideas:
1) Will there be any way for SAP MDM to pick a file from certain location and load the data..
2) Shall I use MDM ABAP API to write a program to connect to MDM Repository and schedule this at regular intervals to achieve the data transfer.
Pls suggest the best design approach..

ANS : No, MDM will not pick up the file, file can be pick up from MDM Inbound folder and send from outbound folder for automize process and for MDM manual Process you can pick up and send file to local desktop, network shared path

ANS : require to write code at ABAP side
so ABAP program will pick or send data file to MDM folder
Note following point
1. Require to write ABAP Program which will pick or send data file to MDM outbound / Inbound folder
2. Require to do some technical setting for ABAP program at SAP side, technical person will help regarding this matter
Note : There are many disadvantage and time consuming procss, monitoring file and it is not advisable to go without any intermidiate software for e.g PI, Tibco
