Data Grid in Forms

Hello,
is there a data grid modul in Forms like this in VB?
I didn't found something like this.
Maybe there is a JavaBean that can do this?

thanx for your fast help.
The JTable is a nice thing,
but there are two features I missed:
- click at the table header, I want to sort the data
- doubleclick at a row, I want to get the data of this row back to forms
Do somebody know about a JavaBean that can do this for me?

I am running HFM 11.1.1.3 and I am trying to load Data Grid and Form in WorkSpace but I am receiving this error below:

I would appreciate any help to resolve this error

This is a web server folder permissions issue. Whoever installed your software and configured the web server needs to address this. Offhand I don't recall the actual solution, but I think it is the Iuser permissions which are missing for that folder.

Member Lists defined by user in Data Grids or Data Forms

Hi guys,
I'd like to know if it is possible to include in either a Data Form or a Data Grid a member list created by myself.
If it's possible, could you please tell me the steps to do so? I tried using AddMember:MemberList but it did not work.

Hi,
We can see this option in the Member Attributes of Dimensions.
Specifies the account name used for identifying differences in intercompany transactions. The PlugAcct
attribute is required when the IsICP attribute for the account is selected.
When we run an inter-company transaction the difference amount would be reflected in Plug Account.We need to write a rule to see that difference amount in the plug Account.

Data Grid vs Data Form

I can't remeber the followings:
When we should use a Data Grid instead of a Data Form?
what are the different features?

Data forms are meant for Data input. Though data can also be inputted in the Data grid. We use Data grid for running the consolidations. Further, in data forms the user has restricted POV while in case of Data Grid the user can select any members from the dimension heirarchy.

data forms have restricted access. user can not access all the dimension and members, based on his role and authentication can access the form.
data grid r used for calculation, currency translation and coslidation and it consists of menu of options for diffrent consolidation based on cell status.
data grid can have line item information, description and cell status information.

What is the difference between data grid and data forms.

Data entry forms are pre defined and are generally used to manually input data into reporting (financial statement) schedules.
They can also be used for reviewing purposes and it gives users a presentable / and consistent format to view data in Hyperion.
Data grids are the equivalent of pivot tables in excel. It should be used for ad hoc purposes to view / analyse data in whatever form you choose. The user has the flexibility to choose what they see in the rows, columns and page dimensions.
One of the main differences between data entry forms and data grids is that you can’t export data grids to excel whereas you can with data entry forms. Other differences are:
1. Run consolidation, translation, promotion from data grids but not in data entry forms.
2. You can link other data entry forms to a data entry form
3. Data entry forms offer greater formatting options than in data grids i.e. colours, fonts, bold, italics.
At the end of the day, they are similar and there is no reason why you can’t have (use) both. It all depends on your local needs on how best you use both.

I am a beginner in Visual Basic Express 2010. I have a Point of Sale program that uses DataGridView to display records from an external microsoft access
database using the fillby query.
It works, but it repopulates the same row each time, but i want to be able to display multiple records at the same time, a new row should be filled for
each click of the fillby button.
also I want to be able to delete any records if the customer suddenly decides to not buy an item after it has already been entered.
so actually 2 questions here:
1. how to populate a new row for each click of the fillby button
2. how to delete records from data grid view after an item has been entered

Hello,
The FillBy method loads data according to what the results are from the SELECT statement, so if there is one row then you get one row in the DataGridView, have two rows then two rows show up.
Some examples
Form load populates our dataset with all data as it was defined with a plain SELECT statement. Button1 loads via a query I created after the fact to filter on a column, the next button adds a new row to the existing data. When adding a new row it is appended
to the current data displayed and the primary key is a negative value but the new key is shown after pressing the save button on the BindingNavigator or there are other ways to get the new key by manually adding the row to the backend table bypassing the Adapter.
The following article with code shows this but does not address adapters.
Conceptually speaking the code in the second code block shows how to get the new key

Reading a csv file and bind to a data grid

hi. doing a school project and been searching. the application reads a csv file from c:\stocklist.csv, and then this in a button called btnLoadData, and now need to read in a data control called DmgDisplayData. do i put the code in the button, or in the
data grid. been searching, but cannot seem to find any thing. so, where do i put the code, in the data control, and does any one have an example code how to read into the data fields. also need to have one field, able to edit, the other three or four fields,
read only. can any one help me out. never covered this in the subject, but did do file streams a few years ago in vb, but usin g c#,a dn the help in visual studio, not that helpful, with a blind person using a screen reader, jaws for windows from http://www.freedomscientific.com,
and using visual studio 2013 community edition. can any one help me out, been searching and trawling about 15 to 20 pages so far, and did try a couple of sites, but could not find, any help. thanks. the application is to read a csv file from a button, and

You could use this code after you initialize the DataGridView. you could put it in the form load event.

do end user can have access to Data Grid.
general who will have access to data grid i.e both end user and hfm developer can access to the data grid in real time.

Access to datagrids is controlled by the "Security Class" which is selected when saving the datagrid. By default this value is [Default]. Security classes are defined within shared services, and users or groups are subsequently given rights to security classes.
A user can access a datagrid if he has "Read" or "All" access level on the datagrid's security class.
Different kinds of users, whether end users, power users, key users, developers etc, are given access to grids (and other hfm objects like forms, documents, reports, dimension members etc) according to the above mechanism.

Advanced Data Grid datasource Arraycollection addItem extremly slow

Hello everyone,
i want to add 2000 items to my existing arraycollection, which is the datasource for the Advanced Data Grid i made.
here is the code:

it takes about 2 minutes .... thats very slow, thinking of one is waiting 2 minutes every time he expanded a node in the tree.
as a solution i tryied to do it like this:
datasourcearray = new ArrayCollection( ObjectUtil.copy( incomingdataarray.source ) as Array );
the result is that it is actually working, but i can not expand my treenodes any longer. there seemed to be no items in there.
adatagrid.valdiatednow() also has no effect.
perhaps anybody came across the same thing an can help me out

first, thank u for your fast answer. I try to add Items to a ArrayCollection which is the dataprovider from my ADG.
i did this in this way:

i get the data from another method in form of a array collection, which contains many of the myObjects Elements.
The datasourceAC is the provider as mentioned above. the only way it works for me to add the items to the dataSourceAC and the ADG beeing updated in the
correct way is this one. but its very slow....
now i tried your hint like this:

datasourceAC.refresh();
the result is that the nodes are loaded an displayed but i can not expand them any longer. they seemed to be empty.
as i traced that problem a little closer i realized that my groupingfunction isnt called either.... i dont know wh y;(

Data Grid Sort Within Portlet

I have a portal with a portlet that contains a search form and a data grid. I have set the sortable attribute on the column to true. The sort action gets the filter service and passes it to the DB control.
I cannot seem to get the sorting to work. The output from getSortFilterService().getDatabaseFilter(getGridName()).getOrderByClause() is always empty no matter which column I click.
Is there something special I have to do because of the portal/portlet?
Can someone give me a tip (or two). I realize this is a novice question but I am learning as I go and would appreciate any help.

I figured it was locking up the browser. I submitted a bug ticket several months ago concerning the same issue. If you have "enableviewstate" set to true on a datagrid and you are using the PT web controls, then the browser will lock up. It all depends on the number of rows and columns you have in the datagrid; unfortunately, I don't know the fatal number.
However, what causes it is how Plumtree manages the viewstate itself for a datagrid. In a nutshell, they have to remember the viewstate for each single item in the grid. And the algorithm they use is extremely slow. The browser's scripting engine basically locks up because of the length of time it takes.
Unless you absolutely need it, I would just turn off the viewstate. It disables some fancy features of the datagrid, but you can still build workarounds.

We have a fat hierarchy and i'm looking for a short way to extract all the data grids without extracting from every folder in the hierarchy separately.
I don't care about the type of the file/files. it can be one long file...

Data grid for jsp applications

Someone knows where i can get a good data grid (free or cost ) for JSP applications

I just stumbled across this thread as we are developing a stateless BSP application and plan to use model binding in it.
For our application the part of the models state that changes is displayed in the view in form fields, so our idea is to reload the model from the db in the doInitattributes-Method and let the model binding do the rest of the work filling in the values that changed in the view. It seems to work so far - so i guess persisting the state of the object to the db is only necessary when something changed that is not part of the view, right?
My second question is on Brians recommendation to use MVC only at exactly one level. Is using Sub-Controllers a problem when they have got their own model? I guess the extra work Brian mentions is all about telling the subcontrollers which model to load, right?
It would be good to know if there are any serious pitfalls when using a hierarchy of controllers instead of a controller with a collection of views.

Editing Data Grid Records

I'm experiencing an odd problem with a "quick and dirty" test
application I built today using the ColdFusion wizzard in the
production release of Flex 2 Builder. The application connects to a
single datasource, displays a data grid with two fields
(approximately 120 records in the source table), and contains the
wizzard provided buttons for adding, editing, and deleting the data
grid records. When I select a record in the data grid and click the
edit button, a second form (a detail page as defined in the
wizzard) pops open with access to all fields in my table. The
problem is, the data flashes (no pun intended) briefly in the form
fields, and then dissappears so what I'm left with is an "add new
record" form. Now here's the weird part: If I'm using a browser on
the machine where I built the Flex app, the details page displays
fine with all data fields filled out properly with the contents of
the table. If I'm using a browser on the virtual server I'm using
to host the CF server, again, everything displays fine. It's only
when I access the application from another system on the network
that I see the dissappearing data effect. I've verified that each
browser instance is running the most current version of Flash
player 9. I've also ensured that (for testing purposes) the
crossdomain.xml file is set to "*" (thinking that it might be some
strange cross domain issue manifesting itself).
On a seperate note, the "master/detail" version of this
application (where the data grid and detail editor are on the same
form) works perfectly no matter where I'm accessing the
application. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Could be a timing issue with when the data comes back from
CF. I would get into the debugger or add trace statements to find
out when/why the fields are getting set/reset
