Data Guard Agent, Authentication Failure

I'm working with two Windows 2003 servers, attempting to use one as a standby and one as a primary database use Data Guard. However, I'm having a bit of trouble when trying to get one server to communicate through the Management Agent and Management Service. I've done Management Agent installs on about 20 XP workstations and they've also worked wonderfully with the Oracle Grid Control.
When the agent on my would-be standby database instance starts up I'm receiving the following errors in emagent.trc:

I've already toggled the Local Security Policy (Log On As Batch Job) setting in Windows, unlocked the Monitoring Profile account, etc. I've also tried to set the Preferred Host Credentials for the database, but it doesn't seem to want to authenticate the Windows 2003 Administrator user.
Anyone have any other suggestions?

Check the following:
Does the user have administrative privilege on the system?
Is the user running this part of ORA_DBA group?
Does the user have the local security policy "Logon as Batch Job"?
Have you set the OS Preferred Credential? If you are a domain user, this will be looking for domain\user name instead of just the user name.
On another note:
Have you doen any upgrades to the OMS repository?
If yes, is the new Repository compatible with the EM Console?

  • ERROR: Could not activate cellular data network: PDP authentication failure

    I have an iPhone 3g that was given to me by a friend a couple months ago. Before I got the phone i was on a plan with Softbank in japan with another cell phone. When i got the iphone i unlocked it so that i could use my old sim card with the iphone. everything worked out fine, i was unable to use the internet via 3g since it wasnt on my plan but i could text and make calls with no problem.
    Everything was working fine until yesterday when i started getting this error message: "Could not activate cellular data network: PDP authentication failure"
    once this happened i could no longer text or make calls. my iphone recognizes the sim card, shows one bar of signal, the network, and the 3g symbol. i have also rebooted, restored, reset network settings, and talked with Softbank; all had no help.
    i have no idea how to fix it, any suggestions would be awesome.
    thanks.

  • Data Guard Switch Over & Failure

    Dear All(s)
    I have configured, physical standby database for productional database. standby logs successfully shiping on standby databse. How i can check database gata guard against failure and how switch over will done.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi..
    Whats the oracle version???
    For failover
    1. Select thread#,max(sequence#) from v$log_history group by thread#; -- on both primary and standby
    2. select max(sequence#) from v$archived_log where applied='YES'; -- on standby.If lagging behind alot recover it
    3. ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE CANCEL; -- on standby
    4. ALTER DATABASE ACTIVATE STANDBY DATABASE; -- on standby
    5. Shutdown and startup. Add a temp tablespace
    Once failover is done, you will need to create a new fresh standby database.It can't be reverted back to standby.
    For switchover switch back refer to [http://www.orafaq.com/node/2078]

  • Data Guard Failover after primary site network failure or disconnect.

    Hello Experts:
    I'll try to be clear and specific with my issue:
    Environment:
    Two nodes with NO shared storage (I don't have an Observer running).
    Veritas Cluser Server (VCS) with Data Guar Agent. (I don't use the Broker. Data Guard agent "takes care" of the switchover and failover).
    Two single instance databases, one per node. NO RAC.
    What I'm being able to perform with no issues:
    Manual switch(over) of the primary database by running VCS command "hagrp -switch oraDG_group -to standby_node"
    Automatic fail(over) when primary node is rebooted with "reboot" or "init"
    Automatic fail(over) when primary node is shut down with "shutdown".
    What I'm NOT being able to perform:
    If I manually unplug the network cables from the primary site (all the network, not only the link between primary and standby node so, it's like a server unplug from the energy source).
    Same situation happens if I manually disconnect the server from the power.
    This is the alert logs I have:
    This is the portion of the alert log at Standby site when Real Time Replication is working fine:

    Do you have any advice?
    Thanks!
    Alex.

    Hello;
    What's not clear to me in your question at this point:
    What I'm NOT being able to perform:
    If I manually unplug the network cables from the primary site (all the network, not only the link between primary and standby node so, it's like a server unplug from the energy source).
    Same situation happens if I manually disconnect the server from the power.
    This is the alert logs I have:"
    Are you trying a failover to the Standby?
    Please advise.
    Is it possible your "valid_for clause" is set incorrectly?
    Would also review this:

  • TS2422 PDP authentication failure

    I just brought my new iPad running 5.1 to Sweden, purchased a local micro SIM card and installed it. I show 2 bars and Tele2 3G in the upper left corner but receive the error message "Could not activate cellular data network PDP authentication failure". I have re-started several times, reset network settings and authentication key.

    Try resetting your phone:
    Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

  • PDP Authentication Failure

    My partner and I both have an iPhone 5s on the Three network in the UK
    Both phones are on iOS 8.03
    We are currently in portugal and because Three do not currently allow minutes from the UK to be used in Portugal.
    We both bought the europass data to use.
    On landing both phones worked then 5 minutes after mine stopped and received Could Not Activate Data Network PDP Authentication Failure. My partners continued to work without any issues.
    I've tried the numerous online fixes without success and also contacted my provider without a resolution.
    We then tried my partners SIM card in my phone to check whether it was a sim or phone issue. Her sim failed in my phone and when she placed it back into her phone she then received the same PDP Authentication failure message.
    It is therefore believed that it could be a software issue.
    What are your thoughts Apple?
    Thanks

    This is almost ALWAYS a carrier problem. Settings aren't correct for your account, etc. However, there are a couple of things you can try, but if they don't work, you need to contact your carrier & have them check your account settings:
    1. Remove the SIM card from your iPhone, then turn off your phone, wait are few seconds, turn your phone back on, then reinsert the sim card and wait a few seconds. See if this fixes the problem. If not:
    2. Go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings on your phone to reset the network setting on the iPhone.

  • How to solve pdp authentication failure problem?

    I've bought an iPhone 4 and the text and calling work fine, as does wifi. However, when trying to use internet without Wifi I get a "Could not activate cellular data network - PDP authentication failure".

    I tried both the things in my 4s but still the same problem...
    Edit: My iOS is 6.1.2

  • Grid control agent and data guard in mount mode

    Hello,
    I would like to know how you manage your data guards when you do not have the license for active data guard with the grid control agents. The standby database is in mount mode, so the agents cannot query the database.
    What do you guys do in such cases? Remove the agent? Or wait till a switchover?

    Check this out with a mounted database

  • Read-only agent synching to a Data Guard physical standby?

    Hi all,
    we are trying to use TimesTen 11.2.2.4.1 as a read-only memory cache for an Oracle 11.2.3.0.7 schema on Linus RedHat 6.3, while using Oracle Data Guard to replicate the Oracle instance over geographically remote sites. On each site we would like to have two TT instances synchronizing with the local Oracle 11g instance. This works fine against the master DB, but are the TT agents going to be able to synchronize against physical standby instances?
    The problem it seems is that the TT agent uses dedicated structures in the Oracle master instance (related to the cache grid), which are going to be replicated into the standby instances. Is  the TT agent able to use the read-only, replicated structures to complete synchronization, or is this approach unworkable? What would be your advise as how to achieve this?
    Thanks for your help,
    Chris

    Hi again,
    so after testing a little bit it appears that this approach works indeed, at least against a limited number of manual DML operations. What I needed to do on the slave instance to have it working is the following:
    1 - Entirely exclude TTADMIN and TIMESTEN schemas from the Data Guard replication:
    ALTER DATABASE STOP LOGICAL STANDBY APPLY;
    execute dbms_logstdby.skip(stmt => 'SCHEMA_DDL', schema_name => 'TTADMIN', object_name => '%');
    execute dbms_logstdby.skip(stmt => 'SCHEMA_DDL', schema_name => 'TIMESTEN', object_name => '%');
    execute dbms_logstdby.skip(stmt => 'DML', schema_name => 'TTADMIN', object_name => '%');
    execute dbms_logstdby.skip(stmt => 'DML', schema_name => 'TIMESTEN', object_name => '%');
    ALTER DATABASE START LOGICAL STANDBY APPLY IMMEDIATE;
    2 - Erase both schemas from the local instance:
    DROP USER TTADMIN CASCADE;
    DROP USER TIMESTEN CASCADE;
    CREATE USER TTADMIN etc
    3 - Temporarily disable the database guard while creating the local ttCache structures, as the scripts seem to need to set a table-level lock on the source table:
    ALTER DATABASE GUARD NONE;
    ttIsql> CREATE READONLY CACHE GROUP etc
    ALTER DATABASE GUARD STANDBY;
    4 - Unset the "Fire_Once_Only" property for the local TTADMIN triggers:
    execute dbms_ddl.set_trigger_firing_property(trig_owner=> 'TTADMIN', trig_name=> 'TT_06_70560_T', fire_once => FALSE);
    At that point the cache seems to replicate properly in the most simple cases. I will try to test with some substantial load and against DG failovers to see how this behaves.
    Regards,
    Chris

    Looks like the agent can't authenticate. Check the AM URL and the amldapuser password. Check the amserver amAuthApplication and amComm debug files to see if there are any agent authentication related exceptions. If you have ethereal installed you can do a network trace to see the XML passed between the agent and the server
