Data Guard Observer with out Data Guard configured

Hi, we are using manual log shipping and applying (scripts) to maintain the DR (physical standby). can I use Data Guard observer to monitor my dr and live and take actions when the primary database is unavailable?

No.
Observer needs a Broker configuration. A Broker configuration is designed for Data Guard. If you are using the EE version of Oracle you could switch to Data Guard and make these pieces work together.
Observer is a Data Guard Broker Component. You use DGMGRL to manage the observer.

"lahk" is not an internationally recognised term. Please use terminology that is recognised internationally.
You could create a table with partitioning, copy your data into it, then drop the original table and rename the new one to the old name (bear in mind any indexes on it), though this isn't ideal if you have primary/foreign keys etc.
Also, ensure you are licenced to use Partitioning. It is installed as part of the database as standard, but you have to have additional licence to actually use it in production.

Init with out data transfer and DELTAS

Dear Gurus,
I created Generic data source using Function module on FAGLFLEXT table. Here i used TimeStamp for capturing DELTAS. In the first run while loading into PSA i selected INIT WITH DATA TRANSFER then it got failed. Again i deleted INIT Request in Schedular and RUN INIT WITH OUT DATA TRANSFER then it got Sucess. Again i run Delta then it also it got failed. Again i deleted the INIT Request and out FULL LOAD. IT got success. May i know why MY Deltas are getting Failed.even in R/3 side when i checked in RSA7 then in status column and in Current Status Tab it showing time stamp field like this . . : :.
I got Stuck up I dont know what to do............
Can one kindly give solution for this.

Debug your generic DataSource, using RSA3, to determine why the delta failures are occurring. It's most likely in the delta logic portion of your custom Function Module.

How to changes baseline date in miro with Posting date

Hi,
Yes you can configure PP with out CO but you will not get Product Costing results for the materials used.
You will not be able to link Activities, Cost Centers, Over Heads which are production activities.
Cost Analyisis for the Order will not be possible.
To say in brief Cost related entries or break up is not possible if CO is not implemented.

Init with out data transfer option is not enabled

Hi Friends,
I am loading data from the data soruce 0CO_OM_OPA_7 - (Internal order items) into BI. This datasoruce is delta enabled. Flow is designed in 3.5. I checked the extractor RSA3, it shows 9 records and then i tried to load using init with data transfer, the load is not successful, it is in yellow for long time and gives the messages no record found. I tried with full load then load is successful. why init load is not successful? Is there any setting i am missing here?
Then I tried to go other option, run init without data transfer and then a full load, but I could not change the radio button to without data transfer option, it is defaultly taken init with data transfer and greyed out. How can i check init without transfer option?

Hi,
In the present case you need to delete the earlier initialization flag from infopackage. Once done then you can be able to view the init without data transfer option.
So delete the flag in the menu bar --> Initialization option for source system
in the popup select the init entry and use the trash icon to delete the same.
Before doing that you can mark your earlier init load to Red and then perofrm this activity.
Once done then you can execute init-without transfer wiht no issue.
Once after this you can perform repair full load to load the data to your target.

Master data load issue with flexible data source

Hi All,
1CL_OLIS001have this data source for loading configuration data. the changed records are not updating into this DS regularly.
I have delta load on this every day. It loads correct data for one month and suddently it will start loading 0 records every day with out failing. If I reset the delta, it will work fine for month or two and then will corrupt again.
Is any one have this kind of issue before Please suggest to resolve this issue permanently?

Here enter Vendor ,Movement type 101 ,Posting date ( Plant ,material if you want )
You will get all the desired data

Data Pump issue with nls date format

Hi Friends,
I have a database with nls date format 'DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS' from where I wish to take export from. I have a target database with nls date format 'YYYY/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS' . I have a few tables whose create statements have some date fields with DEFAULT '01-Jan-1950' and these CREATE TABLE statements when processed by Data pump is getting failed in my target database. These tables are not getting created due to this error
Failing sql is:

ORA-39083: Object type TABLE failed to create with error:
ORA-01858: a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected
The table create sql which adds a column as ' VALID_FROM DATE DEFAULT '01-jan-1970' ' which I think is the issue. Appreciate if someone can suggest a way to get around with this. I have tried altering the nls of source db to be same as target database. Still the impdp fails.
Database is 10.2.0.1.0 on Linux X86 64 bit.

With Oracle characters between single quote marks are STRINGS!
'This is a string, 2009-12-31, not a date'
When a DATE datatype is desired, then use TO_DATE() function.

Error in flatfile load - date not compliant with user date settings

Hi,
I want to load a flatfile into BI 2004s.
so i created a flatfile datasrource, transformation etcetc.. all fine so far.
the file contains 2 dates in format YYYYMMDD and are loaded in DATS infoobjects (also yyyymmdd).
but when i load the data into the PSA it immediatly dumps with error message "19771009 does not match the user-dependent date format --> long text"
the long text sais 19771009 does not correspond to the date format that is assigned to the current user BIWREMOTE. which is correct.. cos there date is DD-MM-YYYY
when i change the date format in the user settings to YYYY-MM-DD it works fine...... in the forground. In the background,whatever i do, it dumps with this errormessage.
so i have 2 questions:
since when is, while loading to the PSA, the date format linked&checked with the date format in the user setting? i cannot recall ever having this issue.
did anyone encounter this problems.

Open Toad Data Modeler diagram with SQL Data Modeler

hi, I've made a diagram with TOAD Data Modeler in Windows. Now I'm working with Linux, so I need a portable application to work with. Oracle SQL Data Modeler seems to be the solution to my problems, but I can't open/import my TOAD's diagrams into SQL Data Modeler.
Anyone knows how to do it?

there is no import from TOAD Data Modeler. You can generate DDL script with TOAD DM and import that script.

Flat File loading Initialize with out Data transfer is disabled in BI 7.0

When loading through flat file in BI 7.0 for Info Package Level Initialization Delta Process with data Transfer is coming by default,but when i want to select Initialization Delta Process without Data transfer is disabled. (in the creation of Data Source (flat file) in the Extraction Tab Delta Process is changed to FIL1 Delta Data (Delta Images).
please provide me Solution.

Dates Between Query :( with out TO_DATE.

I have a query whete in the where clause I compare a column b/w two dates. The Query looks like this,
trunc(LAST_UPDATE_DATE) BETWEEN '22-FEB-03' AND '21-MAR-03'.
This query doesn't fetch any records. Whereas when I use the query with a TO_DATE function it works fine. The query looks like,
TRUNC(LAST_UPDATE_DATE) BETWEEN TO_DATE('22-FEB-03','DD-MON-YY') AND TO_DATE('21-MAR-03','DD-MON-YY')
Ideally I can't impose this becasue the query is a generarted query by one of the reporting tools.

Your NLS_DATE_FORMAT is set to something other than 'DD-MON-YY'. This can be changed at a session level by executing a query
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'DD-MON-YY'
You could also change this at an instance level, but that would likely have side-effects on other queries. One of the reasons that not having to_date can be a royal pain.

Tax error - audit data - table ETXDCJ with wrong data

   I am working on audit_data file that external tax system receives from SAP. table entries in 'ETXDCJ' are fed to audit_data file which are wrong. Please let me know how this table gets the entries. Any transaction or steps that I need to know to replicate the issue. We have this wrong tax data issue only for certain sales document type not for all. Please let me know.

External tax calculation is a setting that you have to enable in configuration. Every document has a tax procedure and pricing procedure assigned to it. So when you create a sales order, based on these two your prices and taxes are calculated. I am not how it works, but I think the external tax calculating software will calculate and send tax documents back to SAP. These are the ones that get stored in the table ETXDCJ,ETXDCH and ETXDCI. This update function module seems to be inserting it EXTERNAL_TAX_DOC_INSERT_DB.
What is it that you are calling error? Are calculations wrong, or is it something else? Are you sure it is document type not cutomer or state that is influencing this? Look in config for the external tax calculation under 'Financial Accoutning Global Settings' as follows:

      -->Tax on Sales/Purchases
         -->External Tax Calculation
I am wondering if your issue is with the tax jurisdictions and your condition table entries. If you are sure that it is always with a particular document type, compare the document type settings with another one that is working.
