Well, I think I have answered my own question, but I will leave it here in case anyone else has the same problem.
So, as far as I have been able to track down, it all went wrong when I was running through the connection wizard.
Under the section titled "Creating the Data Source" is describes how to find your database file and create the appropriate connection string. However, on my version of VS Express 2010 . It offered me a prompts , saying something like, "would you like to
move this database file into the application directory and change the connection string" this sounded very sensible to me, so I said yes.
All proceeded accordingly. And the database file now appeared in the solution explorer.
The app config file said that the connection string was
Data Source=|DataDirectory|\Database1.sdf"
I presumed this would be interpreted correctly by the rest of the app, as it was generated by VS.
But it didn't, what I cannot understand is how no error was generated. And data seemed to pull
into the bound controls.
But I have been testing it for a while now. and it seems that if I manually override the config file with the actual directory where the file exists , then there is not a problem. Data is retained in the file
This is more of a VB.net question, but I couldn't find it in the drop down. I will try and move it there now

Dear Gurus,
There is a customzing point under Project System -> Costs -> Planned Costs -> Maintain plan data handling profile.
Does anyone have any idea about:
- where can it be used?
- what is it used for?
I was looking for any tool which makes plan figures on WBS elements out of purchase orders and I found this but there is no info at all, no where.

This profile is aimed to be used in transaction AD31 (and associated Tcode AD32). Those belongs to an add-on of IS A&D solution.
The purpose is to provide a functionality to calculate the plan cost at completion by adding the actuals costs (including or not the commitments form PO and/or PR) to the cost to complete entered in a specific planning version.
This functionality can also be used to calculate the cost to complete by calculating the difference between the plan costs at completion stored on a dedicated planning version, and actuals costs (including or not the commitments form PO and/or PR).
As SAP provides, independently, the possibility to copy actual to plan, the profile gives the flexibility to calculate the cost to complete by adding 2 planning versions.

Oracle DB schema and data comparison tools that compare BLOBs

I'm looking for schema and data comparison tool like DBDiff or DbTools, but it has to be able to compare BLOB and CLOB fields. I went thru few products available on the market but could not find any that does that.
Can you please recommend tool that will help me with it.

I use Comparenicus for Oracle from Orbium Software. It compares data and schema, CLOBs, BLOBs..
It can also handle large tables which is very useful for some of my environments.
Last (but not least) it has a unique feature for copying selective data from one DB to another. You can read about it this post:

Somebody of my team would like to use this tool within the scope of a PLM project (for initial data load).
Of course I will contact my SAP service account manager but it should be useful to explain to the community (do not need all thedetails) why this product is not sold anymore (after Technidata acquisition).
Does it mean that there is a similar, equivalent solution within the SAP product portfolio (Business Objects) area for example ?

Issue in Data Admin Tool Kit

I am modifying the Signature email body under workflow in Cutom Translations in Data Admin Tool Kit. When I am trying to write in new line, I am not able to write.
I used HTML tags like \n but then also it is not writing in to new line.It is coming as below.

What is the sql you are using? Is this Sql Server or Oracle?

If it is sql server Ive used the following in the past with SQL Server Studio, and just included the new line/Carriage return in the editor and it worked:

Data transformation tool in wli8.1

We are trying to explore the data transformation tool of the wil8.1.
We have cobol copy books as input and we need to end up populating oracle tables.
These are the steps we are following:
1. Use format builder to change cobol copy books into .mfl files
2. Import them into the existing schema.
3.. Create a schema(.xsd) which would take the output which then could be transferd
into the java variables while creating the .jcx file.
3. Create a .dtf file that would take in the .mfl as the input and the output
would be the .xsd file created in step 3.
4. Create a .jpd file that would be initiated with the client request and would
use the .dtf as an input in the control send node and will return the .xsd file
creted in the step3.
The xsd file we have created is:

SAP migrates data from legacy system using standard tools like LSMW, BDC, BAPI. Under LSMW you will have Batch input, Batch recording, BAPI and IDOCs options. Depending upon requirement you can choose any one of them. BAPI is advisable instead of BDC method.
Also for utilities industry SAP has provided ISU Migration tool (EMIGALL).

Export import in sql developer data modeling tool

I tried sql developer data modeling tool
but i have a proble
i select file> import > data dictionary
then created a connection to db and selected some tables and got the er digram successfully
then i goto file > export>to data modeling design and save it to xml file
but when i give this file to another developer and he imported the file File>import>data modeling design
the digram is not displayed
is it a bug or im doing something wrong

there is a folder with the same name bside the xml file and should be included within the exchange

The problem is that my application receives sterilized java object in zip format from third party system then my application can update into DB2 tables in a given time frame (max 1 min). This results into a buffer overflows which implies that data are discarded due to buffer size limit. Every min, my application receives the data from third party.
At present, application data handling is implemented in queuing mechanism. Application expected to handle 100000 java objects per min. Do you have any idea to implement the solution for above issue.
At present I have an idea to implement virtual table (array list) and keep the data into memory..use it after 1 min. required your valuable input.

Question: What is a "sterilized" object? I'm familiar with several euphemisms, but that's a new one on me.
This for nothing:
1. Simply reading 100,000 objects could take a reasonable percentage of your 1 minute, let alone marshalling and then sending them to a database for update. This suggests to me that your solution isn't scalable.
2. Buffer overflows (if that's indeed what it is; you haven't supplied an exception) are a result of bad programming. Find the bug, and fix it.

Now for migration of Business partner generally LSMW is not used. People here use EDT (External data transfer) and BDT (Business data toolset)
Does some one know about EDT and BDT as data transfer tools ?

I was told that OWB9i can also be used as Data Modelling tool. Assume we had developed DWH using Bus Architecture. SQL Developer has a data modeller module which, I believe, has recently changed to a free license.
