Data Import/Export Tool

Hello Experts,
I would like to have your views on Data import function (not DTW) in SAP.  Does this functionality have any data integrity issue ? My client likes to use this function to import business partners using Excel rather than DTW.
What is the difference ? Are there any known issues ? Is it not supported by SAP ?
Await your response on this.
regards
Johnson

Hi Johnson,
please have a look at this wiki:

Has anyone had issues with Administration\Data Import/Export\Data Import???
I have a client who has recently upgraded from V2007 to V8.81. They were succesfuly  using this standard function to import supplier prices to their master price list, but now it has failed?
I have looked at the file they are importing and it appears to be fine.
On closer inspection, it did contain approx 46,000 entries, so I took the first 1,000 and created a test file, which imported fine.
The only issue I found was Speed, with the test file of 1,000 records taking about 30 Mins to import. This appeared to get slower and slower the further through the file it got!
Based on this, I have estimated that the whole file would takle about 13 hours to import. The client say that when they used to run it on version 2007 it was far quicker?
In practice, it does appear to run, but the speed is the issue. Having said this, I set the whole file to run last night (over night)and this morning it had appeared to hang after about 2,307 rows, with nothing else being updated.
Has anyone any ideas or is aware of performance issues like this?
    Thanks,
    Ian

Always an option, but would you give your clients access to this tool?
    Not sure really.
I have uploaded a copy of their database onto my test system and run the same routine. Its equally as SLOW
I can't gauage if its an issue with 8.81 that 2007 didn't have, as I only have the client's word on it, however I have no reason to disbelieve them.
    Kind regards,
    Ian

  • Import/Export tool Command line syntax for R2

Would anyone please advise the syntax of command line import/export tool for XIR2?
Read this post below for importing from a biar file but not sure how to export from BO into a biar file.
How to log BIAR export/import from command line
We're in fact trying to migrate from R2 into R3. The import wizard provided by BO doesn't work well with favorites and inboxes migration due to the large volume of data we need to migrate, hence looking for alternatives.
Any advice around this line would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Denis,
Thanks for your reply. This at least saved my effort to explore further.
Would you offer any advice for migrating large volume of personal folders from R2 into R3?
We're integrating with AD, so everytime listing users for selection taking ages and often times out.
Even if we managed to export the biar file for a group of users, exporting them into R3 fails quite often as well.
The whole process is simply very unpredictable and unreliable.
    Thanks.

  • Designer Import/Export Tools

    Hello all,
After installing designer 6i im given the option to install Import & Export Tools which i think are based on oracle 8.0 librarary files.
If i intend to install oracle 8i EE after designer, can i ignore the installation of the 8.0 tools or are these needed in addition to oracle 8i database ?
If i choose to install 8.0 import and export tools, can these be installed in same home as designer (default home) or same home as oracle 8i (ora8ihome) or should these be in an entirely different home of their own.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Since the Repository is on an 8i database, but the client is on an 8.0 database, you need to have imp.exe and exp.exe from 8i (and their associated NLS files and DLLs) available on your path to use REPADM to install the Repository or do imports / exports.
The default client install of Oracle 8i DOES NOT include the Import / Export tools by default, but you can include them if you do a custom install. The option to install Import / Export tools during the Designer 6i installer will install an 8i client that includes the import / export tools.
N.b. If your Repository is on the same machine as the client, I suspect the database installation WILL include import/export, so you shouldn't need to install the client separately from the Designer installer.

  • Import/Export-Tools for XML on Oracle-Lite

We have to import/export XML-Format on the Oracle-Lite-Database.
-Are there any tools available supporting Import and Export of XML-Data ?
-Can someone give us a recomendation how to perform XML-Imports/Exports if there is
no "out of the box-tool" available ?
    Thanks.

So try. It is called Oracle XML-SQL utility and it set of classes for direct XML manipulation from/to database with HUGE amount of features. You can use it from JAVA and PL/SQL (via Java Stored Procedures). It is realy great.

  • Problem of Data Import/Export after migration of Oracle DB 9i to 10g

We have encountered the following problem after the migration of Oracle DB 9i to 10g R1 and ESRI ArcSDE 8.3 to 9.1.
In our development server, a view was created by joining of one feature class (point feature), two attribute tables and one F table. We have to perform a process to export all the features in that particular view from the development server and then import them to the production server. In total, there should be about 60,000 points.
Form our past experience (using Oracle DB 9i and ESRI ArcSDE 8.3); we spent about 15-20 minutes to complete the import-export procedure. However, after the system migration, the speed of the import-export procedures is extremely slow, which is talking about 2 hours for ONLY EXPORTING 5MB data.
We would like to seek advice in solving the above problems. THANKS!

Try to delete old stats, then gather new stats on the schema and try the export again.

  • Data Import/Export

    I am new in SAP.
Q: Is it possible to use the importer tool (importing from excel) but change or add fields except from the default ones in order to import more data? Is it any way to link a desire column to this imported tool. If we are not able is it any alternative way of import thousands of entities using another tip. Note that I want to import the *Title* of my Business Partners.
    Thank you

    Charalambos,
You could, perhaps, create a UDF of BP Title, include the field name in the DTW template, add the BP code and the relevant title in the template, and upload it. That would add the title value into the title field in the BP Master. If the BP code is new, then it'll add that code and the title value to it.
That's how I upload values into UDF files into masters.
    Cheers!

  • Data Import error - Valuation Method (ODBC -1029)

Hello all, first post on the SCN. I did some search for similar problems, but nothing seemed to help here.
We are using Business One, two different companies and databases. We were at the time of the year to update the price list, so we used the Administration -> Data Import/Export -> Data Import -> Import from Excel.
One company (US only) imports perfectly, but the other database (Canada + US) gives me the following error message on 91 / 1036 entries.
Row Number xxx : [Items - Valuation Method] , 'Field cannot be updated (ODBC -1029)
Since the errors only appears on one of the two databases, I ruled out that the excel sheet we used to be the problem.
The excel sheet only has 4 columns : The item identification, the price list that it needs to update, the price, and the currency (USD or $ for us).
Neither of the two companies use any valuation method. In fact, neither companies have the field at all in Item Master Data, and its grayed out in the Company Details.
We also made a dump of the entire item database, and compared what items were imported successfully and those that generated the error, and while the column Valuation Method either had nothing or A, there was no pattern to it. Some errors had nothing, some had A in it.
I checked for any other differences between items that were imported and the ones with error, and cannot see any visible differences, so all I can think here is that its either an invisible setting when the item was created, or there's some character that is creating a fault somewhere (like an empty space).
One of the topics found on this error message (ODBC -1029) said that we might need to request a script to fix the database, but that topic was back in 2006, I'm not sure if it still applies, 8 years later.
Essentially I ran out of things to try on my end. Now I can only ask to the experts.
    Thank you for your time!

The company that has troubles importing does not allow us to change the Valuation Method for each item. The field is missing entirely from the Item Master Data. I included a screenshot.
The field is grayed out in the Company Details, but its set as Moving Average. The other company uses Moving Average by default as well, from the looks of it (the field does appear in Item Master Data, but its grayed out).
We used the same excel sheet to import data in both companies, just need to figure out why its 100% on one side and not on the other side.
Just to be a bit more clear, we cannot select or visualize the Valuation Method on the items that are not getting imported. Its invisible.
When we exported the full list of items, there was no pattern between the items that are not imported and those that are imported properly.
To be clear, the Valuation Method for :
Items that are imported properly are A or blank.
Items that are not imported and generate an error are A or blank.
There is no logic between those that work and those that do not, which is why I can't figure it out on my own.
    Thank you!

  • Questions on Import/Export Personalizations

    Hi,
We are on 11.5.10 CU3. We have dozens of personalizations in Dev. I understand that Functional Administrator Import/Export tool can be used to transfer them from Dev to production. I am facing some issues when I try that.
    1. I exported a personalization in Dev to the same instance java/custom. It created the directory structure java/custom..../site/0/ReqSummaryPG.
    2. I imported it back. This was successful.
    3. I re-imported it. It failed without an explanation for the failure. What could be the reason? Doesn't it just overrite the previous import - like when importing substituions?
    4. I copied the custom/..../site/0 to another instance and imported it there. It was successful. However I could not see the personalizations.
    5. So I checked. I realized that the directory structure was wrong. It was java/custom/apps/..../site/0
    instead of java/custom/oracle/apps/..../site/0.
    6. So I corrected the directories and re-imported. Failure like 3 above. I thought it was because of duplicate records. So i did the query select * from jdr_paths where PATH_NAME like '%ReqSummaryPG%'. I got only one record which was the seeded record. So eventhough 4 was successful there is only one record. Why?
Do I have to bounce Apache for each separate import of the same document?
Is there documentation on this utility with best practices? I see in the forum that no-one could successfully make this utility work.
Any help would be appreciated. I thought this was a simple utility ...
    Thanks
    Sandeep

Well this worked the next day! I reimported ReqSummaryPG again and it worked. I believe a few Apache bounces took place inbetween.
We were able to export/import quite a few personalizations. However, we got it right the first time this time around
I am still interested in knowing why a second consecutive import of the same doc doesn't work? And how to make it work? This would help in resolving issues in case of mishaps. Appreciate it if someone can provide an explanation.
    Thanks
    Sandeep

  • Import/export properties of multiple numeric limit steps

    Hello
I have a question to the property loader and the import/export tool in TestStand 3.5.
When I want to export the limits of a sequence with multiple numeric steps with the import/export tool, I press the Limits button to include the limits into the 'selected' field of the properties tab. But for the multiple numeric step the limits are included not for all indices but only once with an question mark instead of an index (Result.Measurement[?].Limits.Low, Result.Measurement[?].Limits.High, Result.Measurement[?].Limits.Comp).
The property loader step acts the same way.
    What can I do ?
    Thanks
    Olli

    Hi Olli,
For the multiple numeric limit test, you will need to individually specify which numeric limits you want to export. Lets suppose you have 3 sets of limits for your multiple numeric limit test. If you wanted to export the first set, you would use the syntax
    Step.Result.Measurement[0].Limits.Low
    Step.Result.Measurement[0].Limits.High
You will need to do this for each set of limits you have in your array. Simply replace the "?" with the index of the element in the array.
    Hope this helps!

  • Reg Data Import

    Hi,
Can any one let me know how can i import the data for BP or Items.
I have tried to import for BP. Below are the steps I followed
    Administration>Data Import/Export>Data Import-->Import from Excel
I have selected the bp code and bp name then Ok.
A pop up window was opened to open the file and I have selected one of the file(Is the file should be in Excel format the one which we are selecting to open the file)

The DTW is an add-on shipped with SBO so you need to install it first if you haven't done so already. Once installed - Start>All Programs>Sap Business One>Data Migration>Data Transfer Workbench. That will open the DTW. Also by using the same path you will note that there is a 'templates folder' with preparation examples of how the data should look.

  • Import/Export Job in management portal.

I am trying to create an Import/Export job in portal, I read this document:
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/storage-import-export-service/
and I am unable to do this, document says download import/export tool, but I am unable to do that any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
I would request you to check if you meet all these prerequisites:
    • You must have an active Azure subscription.
    • Your subscription must include a storage account with enough available space to store the files you are going to import.
    • You need at least one of the account keys for the storage account.
    • You need a computer (the "copy machine") with Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, or a newer Windows operating system installed.
    • The .NET Framework 4 must be installed on the copy machine.
    • BitLocker must be enabled on the copy machine.
    • You will need one or more empty 3.5-inch SATA hard drives connected to the copy machine.
    • The files you plan to import must be accessible from the copy machine, whether they are on a network share or a local hard drive.
