Data input via keyboard

I'm considering an iPhone, I'm using a Palm now and like inputting with handwriting directly onto the screen. Does anyone have an opinion about how it is to input with the keyboard...

The typing and input system is amazing. Simply touching the screen allows for typing and navigation -- replacing mouse, keyboard, zoom and scroll functions. It feels wonderful to type by lightly touching a smooth optical glass surface. This dramatically reduces fatigue. The iPhone is the only commercially available computing device in the world to use multi-touch technology. Most cellular phones require the user to type messages by pressing numeric keys numerous times until the proper letter appears. So, many cell phones include T9 typing technology where the phone suggests words based on what you are typing in. Using the T9 entry system, it is only necessary to press a number key once and go on to the next letter until your desired word appears. The iPhone entry system has gone a step further by having a complete QWERTY keyboard layout. When you mistype a word, the iPhone suggests the correct word as if reading your mind. At first this appears to be similar to Microsoft Word’s auto correction feature that automatically corrects for common typos such as inverted letters (replacing teh with the). However, the iPhone goes beyond traditional spell checking intelligence. It is not just looking at the phonetics of the word you’ve typed. It is considering what other keys on the keyboard were close to the letters you typed and trying to figure out from that what you meant to type. It’s really quite amazing. Because you are typing on a smooth surface, the computer can analyze what keys your fingers were closest to. If a finger is overlapping several keys, the computer determines what key is in the middle. No other commercially available computer or keyboard system has such a feature. Even if you are typing many of the wrong keys to produce an unintelligible word, the iPhone can usually figure out what you meant. For this reason, it may be possible to meet or exceed the data entry speed and accuracy of a regular size desktop computer keyboard. The iPhone also has artificial intelligence which allows it to learn your and vocabulary and to some degree typing style (based on corrections you make).

My requirement is I will pass input via ABAP webdynrpo selection screen and I want to get output in ADOBE FORM.Do we have any blogs or tutorials ? BTW this will not be interactive form right?

Hi Vara,
Do follow these steps:
1) Goto SE80 and create a WDC.
2) Create a main view, and in the view go to context, and create a node and an attribute in it to fill the values from WDA.
3) Goto layout of the View, and create an inputfield UI element, and bind the attribute created in the context.
4) Now create an Interactive form UI element and give some name in the Template source of that UI element.
5) On press of enter, it asks you to create a new SFP, and say yes for that. Also choose context as the data source during that process.
6) Now SFP tcode is opened for you to design the layout.
7) Similarly desing the layout and bind the copied node from webdypro component.
8) Save and activate the form.
9) Save and activate the WDC.
10) Create an application and test it.
This completes the scenario mentiond by you..

Network Preferences indicates that it is correctly connected to my WiFI system but the data input and output rate is virtually zero. I know that the WiFI signal is reaching the iMac since both my iPhone and iPad are working perfectly at that location. I have rebooted the router and the iMac to no avail. The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

Broken laptop input mouse & keyboard [xps15z] [post Syu]

Problems:
-laptop's (dell xps 15z) keyboard and mouse not working
-X broken
I am really stumped here and looking for any help / direction. I am running out of questions to ask, and would appreciate any feedback.
What I have tried:
-creating a new modprobe.conf,
-merging rc.conf.pacnew,
-downgrading to my previous udev, mkinitcpio, and module-init-tools, using the packages found in cache. remade init with
mkinitcpio -p linux
and keyboard and mouse still did not work
-merged locale.conf.pacnew
-merged pacman.conf.pacnew
-traversed almost all of the logs multiple times (have not found a silver bullet, but not positive on what Im looking for..)
Below I have included some notes, my relevant (dates) pacman.log, and what I pulled from dmesg that seemed related to me.

Good idea about the wiki page. If/when I have time I will add something. Feel free to do so if you have some.
I've not had the computer for long, however the core install boots and works fine, but after updating the keyboard and mouse become unresponsive, so unfortunately from my perspective, one of the updates in the past 4 or 5 months broke it! However, though I've not tried any combinations of boot parameters, the vast majority of live CDs won't even boot without acpi=off (or presumably, only acpi=noirq is actually needed, looking at your tests) so it doesn't look to be Arch specific.
For your X problems, are you using a DE or WM, and how are you logging in? If you can disable the login manager (if present) and start an X session with startx, with say only exec xterm in your ~/.xinitrc that might help pinpoint the issue. If that works, it will unlikely be an X issue, more one of your DE/WM.

Error in saving large value with the data input query

I am trying to save a large value in 0Quantity using the data input query into a realtime infocube
e-g

Error says too many digits.
When i try to save 8 digits before the decimal point ,no error, if it is 9digits before decimal it's thro' error.
Is there any limitation before the decimal.
i know that 0Quantity can take 17 digits including the sign.

You can output audio thru HDMI, with appropriate adapter.
You can use additional cheap external usb audio for monitoring.

Tree-control for data input?

Hi,
I need to program an input screen for values that have hierarchical dependencies (e.g. sums). I feel, the most adequate user-interface would be a tree control, because of the data dependencies and also because the users asked for a possibility to collapse/expand parts of the data during input.
I had a look at CL_GUI_COLUMN_TREE, but I'm not sure, if it can be used for data input. Has anyone done something like this before or can anybody direct me to some additional sample coding? (the sample coding in the reuse library didn't do it...)

Since you say that the user's input is hierarchical in nature, it is nice to have a tree-control for input. But, the choice of using a custom-control-version of the tree is a cause for some concern. I cannot recollect any of the SAP screens where the input can be given through such a tree framework (please do let me know if you have come across one). The problem with such a tree would be in the areas of even-handling. Filling the tree with appropriate data at the right times would be another challenge.
However, there's one alternative that I would like to direct your attention to. You must have observed another kind of tree, when you select an application component from the APPLICATION HIERARCHY, which is just like a list. Also, the Transport Organizer (SE09), Menu Painter (SE41) etc., have this kind of a tree. You can use this if you (or rather your users) are very particular on having a tree display. For more information, you can see the Function Group SEUT, which has the required function modules to accomplish the same. The Function Group is well documented, and you might have to work a little on the function modules themselves.

[Solved] CUPS: Unable to write print data: Input/output error

I'm filling this for the benefit of those poor googlers that can reach here.
Symptoms: After trying to print a "complex" image the printer made too much breaks, and failed.
The problem is, it then didn't came up. I mean, I restarted the printer, cupsd, the whole system, and nothing.
I was unable to print again, it showed "Unable to write print data: Input/output error" and refused to print anything.
I then saw that in /etc/cups I had printers.conf and printers.conf.O files, which differed (other than in StateTime), that printers.conf.O had
State Idle
but printers.conf had:
State Stopped
StateMessage Unable to write print data: Input/output error
Reason paused
Probably due to the ErrorPolicy being stop-printer.
So seeing I followed the following steps:
Stop cups
Replace printers.conf with printers.conf.O (I could also had manually edited it)
Start cups
It then went working flawlessly.
There was probably an option in the web interface combobox for doing that. The problem is that I didn't realise it was stopped, so didn't know how to make it work. Moreover, some posts in the web recommended reinstalling the printer (which would skip the problem by creating a new printer).

I think that I had this same problem, and fixed it by reinstalling the printer. Thank you for your post.

Creating a survey in acrobat, processing on hard copy, and data compiling via Acrobat scanning

Hi there,
I am new to creating PDF forms using Acrobat Pro 9. I have been asked by my manager to sort out a way we can create a survey (for staff)and have the data input to the survey, processed and compiled ready for an analyst to create a report of the data.
Basically, this is a survey of staff by staff, anonymous and to be completed on hard copy (Printed PDF with survey template).
So, I have started to think about the best way to go about this, can I create a survey in Acrobat, print it, fill out the multiple choice questions, scan it in Adobe, and allow acrobat to gather the data?
Personally I would like to use Acrobat (as I am enjoying learning it), but is this the right tool for that job? Is there a feature that enables multiple choice surveys to be created, printed, filled out, scanned again (with answers filled in), and compiles the data?

By itself Acrobat does not "compile data".
By the way nothing compiles data from a picture. All scanners output a picture of the scanned paper (that is, an image file such as TIFF).
Acrobat can perform Optical Character Recognition (OCR) of the picture of text.
The OCR output is the characters - no format, tables, rows, columns, no text styling, etc.
So harvesting useful information can pose something of a challenge.
You may want to consider manually compiling the results.

ADF 11g Date input

I am using date input component in ADF 11g.
This component let u select only date. but I want the user be able to select date and time as well.
which date component should I drop on page ?

All you have to do to see it in action is give your ADF BC EO date field the type of Timestemp instead of Date, and possibly add a nice format mask under the UI hints like: yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss
But, I do not have Entity Object in my application. ADF page was generated as part of "right click BPEL Human Task ---- Auto generate ADF Task Form".
How do I have time as well in this case ?

Calling Stored Procedure with a DATE input parameter

Hi. A question about Date input parameters when calling a stored procedure...
I have a procedure that takes a DATE parameter as input. I would like that DATE value to include a Time element.
My Application Module method takes an input parameter as java.util.Date (myParamDate) - which will preserve a time element(?).
However when I create the CallableStatement, I'm trying to set the parameter using setDate like this (for param 5):

            st.execute();I understand java.sql.Date does NOT include a Time element. But setDate() accepts only a java.sql.Date so my procedure parameter ends up with a zero time element.
How do I call this procedure retaining the Time element?

It includes time element, if you want more precision go with timestamp.

Why Excel insert cell block, hasn't input for data input?

I found a block for insert new row in excel, but there is no input for data input. how should I insert data by this block to excel file? can you help me?

Nobody will be able to identify the problem without seeing your code. Excel Insert Cells.vi is used to add cells to an existing spreadsheet, not to set the cell value. To do this is a more specific way than the Append Report Text.vi you can use Excel Easy Text.vi or Excel Insert Table.vi. With these vis you can specify the range where you want to insert something.
For your other question (Two different data types) you can use the Excel Set Cell Format.vi to format a range as a date or something else. You will need to use the Excel format specifiers for this.
