Data Interface to mdp_matrix in demantra

Hi,
What all ways we have in demantra for data interface esp for mdp_matrix?
Other than custom proc, integration interface, is there any other way to interface data from staging table to mdp_matrix table in demantra.

Can we really update data in MDP_MATRIX table thru integration interface that is custom? As read in oracle guide that we cannot update data in mdp_matrix thru integration interface.

while i am executing the job MPU* in ECC it write error file in /data/interface/sidclntxxx/IN/MPU742. now for the tcode ZMM_MPU_ANALYSIS it ask that error file, it is reflecting "error reading log file /data/interface...". now i am not getting the email also that supposed to get. please help

is that file accessible on the operating system? Is the filesystem mounted?
Z-transaction codes are customer developments, since nobody here knows, what this program does I suggest you contact the developer of that transaction.

How to add an image - binary data is present in data interface

Hi,
we have the requirement that an image (e.g. pie chart) has to be present in a print form. Based on the data, the image always differs. It is not possible to set an URL to get the image so we decided to store the binary data in the data interface.
Is it possible to map the image control to the data structure?
How can we store the binary content of an image in the data structure (please think about unicode and non-unicode ERP systems)?
Do you have any idea?

Hi Thomas,
You need to create an image field and in the source choose 'graphic content ; give the name of the variable which has the binary data . and give the type as 'MIME/image'.

How to load data thru flat file in demantra?

Hi,
I am using seeded data model for loading data for DM module in demantra.
As per data model there is 3 staging tables for item, location and sales_data i.e. t_src_item_tmpl,t_src_loc_tmpl,t_src_sales_tmpl respectively.
I have seen the final table for sales data i.e. sales_data table. ther is only one item_id and location_id column against which sales_date and quantity is loaded.
I have same sales_data and quantity to be loaded for different location hierarchy and item hierarchy .
How the data file is created ? if you have any sample data files , can you please share with me ? If any changes needs to be done in data model for loading datardsa in custom hierarchies ?

Answer to these questions are based on the number of sales that has occured as well as the item hierarchy and the product hierarchy.
From the example
Item_name | organization | ship to site | Sales date | quantity
item 1 org1 site1 19-Jan-2008 80
item1 org1 site2 20-Jan-2008 100
I can say that the number of rows in sales data is 2 while that in item file is 1 and location file is 2.
The answer to how the flat file will look is
Item file can have
Item_Id|Item_Name
01     Item1
Location file can have
Org_Id|Org_Name|Site_Id|Site_name
O_01     Organization 1     S_01     Site 1
O_01     Organization 1     S_02     Site 2
Sales file can have

Once you define the data model and load the data it is advisable not to change the data model since the next time when you load the incremental data it will error out due to the mismatching columns. So its better that you define the data model first and then create the files accordingly.
Hence after loading data if you want to view sales data at the product_category1 level then you should already have the product_category1 level defined in the data model.Else You have to create the product_category1 level and associate it in the item hierarchy.Also the sales file should have columns for product_category1.
Then the item file will look like
Item_Id|Item_Name|Product_category1_Id|Product_category1_desc
01     Item1     PC_01     Product_category 1
and the sales file will look like
Item_Id|Item_Name|Org_Id|Org_Name|Site_Id|Site_name|sales_date|Quantity
01     Item1     O_01     Organization 1     S_01     Site 1     19-Jan-2008 80
01     Item1     O_01     Organization 1     S_02     Site 2     20-Jan-2008 100
This is just a basic overview about loading the data into the staging tables.In short the item table should have the item hierarchy in it, the location file should have the location hierarchy in it and the sales file must contain the details about the sales at the lowest item-location level.

Hello out there! I'm a second-year PhD student at Delaware State University, however I am just now starting to learn Labview. I have been assigned to a project that involves integrating first a Mach 5 100Hz Joulemeter to Labview, and then do a data interface with the detector to a laser, using Labview. I am reading the manuals and doing the exercises, but I need to have my learning curve sharpened! Any suggestions? Thanks.

Data interfacing from 3rd party system to SAP

Dear all,
We are going to upload employee masters, including actions, org assignment, personal information and other infotypes from a third-party system to SAP HCM. May I know what should be the best approach, e.g. BDC, BAPIs, for these kinds of data interfacing? I am thinking to use....
BDC for hiring/transfer/termination actions (besides BDC, any other approaches?)
RH_INSERT_INFTY or RH_UPDATE_INFTY for personal information / other infotypes updates
However, I have no idea on how to automate updates of OM. Please kindly share your thought, thank you!

MDM was working with AT command, but I don't need a AT command and Qualcomm Command did not working. (This command definition from out test tool)
it is look like this "00 + CRC", this string common command on the qualcomm chip android phones. with modem port(CDMA modem)
VSP did not working without anything.
I have googled on the internet, and I have found "dmesg"

In ABAP context , interfaces are only of two types.
1) INBOUND interfaces
2)OUTBOUND Interfaces.
INBOUND:(from external system data is fetched as flat files which is moved to SAP database tables).
in this process we get data in the form of flat files(.txt or .xlx). we will read this data from the files using FM like UPLOAD/WS_UPLOAD/GUI_UPLOAD into internal
tables. And using BDC methods or LSMW tool, we will update the database tables with this data.
OUTBOUND:(Data from SAP dtabase is retrieved adn stored as flatfiles on presentaion server or application server)
In this process we retrieve data using select statements from the database tables and will populate the internal tables. based on the requirement, we will use FM like DOWNLOAD/WS_DOWNLAOD/GUI_DOWNLOAD to write data from internal tables to flat files on th presentation server.
*the above mentioned Fm will work for files on presentaion server(local file system) . IF u want to handle files on the application server, use DATASET.
Other technologies that u mentioned like RFC, BAPI, EDI,ALE, IDOCS etc might be used as apart of interface code.

Obtaining the list of data interfaced out of SAP HCM

Hello,
we got a good challenge from our partners in the business organization that we support. The Data Privacy officer on the business partner side would like to know:
- what other systems are "takers" of the data from our SAP HCM instance
- what data pieces (what tables, fields...) are being interfaced out
- what is the frequency of that
We are trying to maintain the document whenever a new interface is being built but in practice you know how it looks like.In order to have 100% confidence in the anwser I would want to pull such list from the system. Is there a way to do that? What would you suggest?

Try the function below, pass the item name and get the Data provider for that particular item, you will have to do this for all the items in the template.

Level Id in the mdp_matrix ( Oracle Demantra)

The level id in the mdp_matrix signifies the level at which the forecast gets generated for a given item-location combination.
I have six levels defined in the forecast tree.
When I see the results for level id in mdp_matrix after having run the analytical engine I am seeing values of -1, 0 and 6 - what do they signify.
Which table stores these level id and equivalent forecast tree level.
I am bringing sales historical data at the lowest level - for both item and ship to code.
I am atleast expecting some/few/most of the forecast should be generated at the lowest level - level 1 (level_id) - but hardly do I find records in the mdp_matrix as level_id =1 (the min level in the forecast model library is set to 2 / 3 and max level to 999999.
Any pointers appreciated.

Hi Pankaj,
The level_id field is updated dynamically when you run the analytical engine. The range of values in level_id field is determined by number of forecast levels you choose in forecast tree definition. But while generating forecast, which values to use among is determined by max_fore_level and min_fore_level parameters as mentioned by Rubellah.
Take the following example: (This is the log generated by Analytical Engine, stored in "engine2k" folder)
In this log statement [x,y,z] values signify, x - level_id, y - item_node and z - loc_node respectively.
The Analytical engine analyses every set of data available for forecast for each item-location combination. But always generate forecast at lowest possible level.
1) 10:36:44:967 [3,22,1] has a usable number of observations. (52)
2) 10:36:44:998 [2,22,1] has a usable number of observations. (52)
3) 10:36:45:280 [2,22,1] forecast succeeded using models B,C,E,X
4) 10:37:24:219 [3,53,8] has a usable number of observations. (52)
5) 10:37:24:265 [2,53,8] has a usable number of observations. (52)
6) 10:37:24:922 [2,53,8] forecast failed.
7) 10:37:25:578 [3,53,8] forecast failed.

As you see line 1, shows that there is usable no of observations it found item_node 22 & loc_node 1 combination at higher level_id 3. But according to line 2 it also found good enough observations at lower level_id 2. Hence it generated the forecast at level_id 2 as sighted in the 3rd line.
The exceptions might occur like in lines 4,5,6 & 7 where engine is not able to generate forecast at lower as well as upper level too. The first try is made at lower level [2,53,8](It failed) the 2nd try made at upper level [3,53,8](It failed here too).
From the third set of lines 8,9,10 & 11 we can guess the reason of forecast being failed as very less number of observations (only 4).
The forth set of lines 12,13,14 & 15 shows that there is intermittent data available so it generated forecast at lower level using model "F".
Line 16 states that forecast is generated at upper level_id 4.
Line 17 states that there were usable no of observations but didn't generate any forecast for that combination.

Customer Master Data interface to external using Seeburger on MDMP

   Currently, customer master data is interfaced to external system via IDOC. The middleware used is Seeburger.
   If the system is changed to MDMP, would there be any impact to this interface?
   Is Seeburger communicates in Unicode? If so, when the data is translated to Unicode when the data from R/3 is non-unicode?

1 master IDocs set up for message type MATMAS
then Msg two
0 communication IDoc(s) generated for message type MATMAS
Is it able to get why this msg is comng and no IDoc's were generated..

Programming data interface

I am pretty new at java programming and I have to write an interface with an external system sending data to our system in some ValueObject formats. I want to create my own Object for interface purposes, but I
don't have a clue what to use: Vector, HashTable, Array???
The structure I would like to have is as follows:
OBJECT: -> tableName (String)
-> Records -> Record1 ->Field1 ->fieldName
->fieldValue
->fieldType
->fieldFormat
->Field2 ->fieldName
->fieldValue
->fieldType
->fieldFormat
->...
->Fieldn
-> Record2 ->Field1...
-> Record3
-> ...
-> Recordn
So, the number of records is unknown and the number of fields is also
unknown as this can be for different database tables.
If anybody could help me with this I would be really greatful...
Or if somebody already did something like this and can give me some
example code, also very helpful!
Or maybe if you would have a better idea than my structure to create
an object containing data that has to be inserted in a database table

The following is a fairly simple way of doing something similar to what you want to do. However it assumes that you are being sent an ObjectStream (If not then the AField will have to change so that it reads the different types of data and then converts to a string)
It also depends on the mark operation which I fear may not be suppprted for ObjectInputStreams.
This code probably won't do what you want it to do, but I hope it should give a good starting point.

SAP Termintation date - Interface issue

Hi
We had a new interface setup with ADP, where the ADP picks the data from our SAP system on monthly basis and delivers it to the Third party payroll provider. Issue we are having is with the termination data which is as follows.
An employee's last working day is 31st May 2010 and he will be terminated on 1st June 2010 in our SAP system. When we send the termination date to the Payroll provider using ADP Interface the date should be 31st May 2010, then only the employee will be paid till 31st May. If we send the 1st of June then he
As ADP Interface uses monthly payroll period as reference (here it is month of May) when it is sending the termination information to the Payroll Provider. In our case as the termination data is 1st June 2010 which is falling out of the May Payroll period. This is causing the interface not selecting the termination information to the payroll provider. This is resulting in the employee being still active rather than getting terminated.
Its been identified this as gap but looking for alternative solutions to circumvent this issue where the Payroll provider will terminate the employee on the same date as in SAP. We donot intend to do any manual work of sending this data.

Hi,
it's very common that date of termination in SAP differs one day from other systems.
If would suggest you determine the termination - date via function moduloe RP_HIRE_FIRE.
In your example, this function will give termination date of May 31 (instead of June 1).
