Data list in Catalyst Beta 2,

Hi! I have created a custom data list in Catalyst Beta 2, defined its repeated item and put a scrollbar inside it. The font changes, How can i keep the text from changing?

Ok, let me explain it in more details. Started with an illustrator document, I created something style micro blog. The components of each repeated items include "title" (myriad pro 20pt), beneath that the "time" of the post (helvetica 10pt) and after that the text (arial 11pt).
Now, after converting the components to Data List it is still OK, but when I choose the "repeated item" option all fonts changes to same font (something like "Times") and same size.

Text buttons in a data list?

Is it possible to create a series of text links in a datalist? If not explicitly in the UI, can this even be emulated by creating text buttons and attaching them to the datalist?
In either case, I'm not able to achieve this. For example, when I create a text button and add it as an item to be included in the repeating objects, the editable text column in the datalist disappears (which I suppose I can understand) but the end result is a repeated button whose label is exactly the same every time it's repeated. In other words, when I change the text of one, all of them change.
I'm trying to create a data list where different headlines are hyperlinks with hover states. This seems rudimentary... I must be missing something?

It's not yet possible to draw links from a data collection using the Catalyst UI. The closest solution I was able to come up with for Fc is to set a "Go to URL" interaction on items in a list, so:
Select your list, then
Add interaction > On Select > Go to URL > Enter your url > When a specific item is selected > then chose the corresponding item #.
Of course, that solution is better for fixed content or prototyping. For full data binding and support of dynamic sources, Flash Builder is the best solution.

How to create a gallery in Catalyst beta 2?

Hi there,
I'm using the latest build of Catalyst and I'm trying to create a simple inventory data list for cars.
Basically right now I have a simple data list like this:
So you can see I have three buttons (asian, domestic, euro) to link to each page which shows a list of the cars from different makes
and I basically want to be able to click each thumbnail in the list, and it'll display the rest of the pictures of the cars.
Each car has 6 pictures from different angles, so how would I go about implementing something like this so it's easy to manage all the data if I have to change the inventory every 2 weeks or so?

If I want to go more advanced, say bring in a working system of streamlining the upload process, I assume I'd have to work with flash builder to achieve that right?
Basically the inventory is something that needs to be updated weekly or bi-weekly, which consists of 6 pictures per car, usually each update would require me to upload 100-200 photos, then add the info/options to each car.
Is there a way to work with the layout so I can pretty much drag and drop and make some minor adjustments to make it work simplier?
I was thinking of having each picture or row in the data list be given an ID or something and it reads dynamically from a database?
maybe like Row 1 thumbnail will be like 1.jpg and then the 5 other pics would be in sequence, or whatever, so I just need to batch edit/name the pictures according...
Is such a feat possible?
Please keep in mind I have no coding experience, but I hope I can pickup some skills along the way

edit: Actually I saw a tutorial online where someone made different component/packages, can I do the same and make like a functioning gallery script? So basically when they click on a row, it goes to another state which has the gallery package placed on the page and it allows the user to go forward and back between the 6 photos...

Data list multiple selection not working?

I set up a data list and checked the 'allow multiple selection' option in the component properties. However, the list still only allowed one selection at a time (clicking on a different item would deselect the other one). Am I missing something or is this just a bug? I'm using Beta 2. In general, I'm really enjoying playing with it and I'm looking forward to the full version.

Oh, of course. Thanks. I guess I'm really trying to use the data list in a non-traditional way. I want a series of items that can individually (and independently) be toggled on and off. I actually tried to do this by making a data list with a toggle button as the repeating item. It generally worked, but I got some weird behavior with items outside the clipping area.

Apps missing from use cellular data list in iphone 6

So I got the new iPhone 6...and half of my apps are missing from the "use cellular data" list...those that are missing won't load when I try to open them...they just flash and shut down. I've tried turning off wifi...I've tried resetting the phone...nothing works. What's the point of the phone if you can't use the freaking apps when you aren't connected to wifi?? Anyone else having this problem?? Anyone know how to fix it??

Business Data List View ONLY Displays records - Cannot Edit them

Using SharePoint 2010, I created an External Content Type. Data is coming from SQL Server. I created a new Read operation on my External Content type. I added a few filters in this Read View.
I have created a web part page in which I placed a Business Data List Web Part. In Web Part properties I chose the VIEW in question. I can now filter my External List data and the Business Data List Web Part displays them. But I cannot edit these
records!!!
From the web Part properties window, I can ONLY choose Views that are created from READ operations. How do I allow users to edit data and save data in the original source (SQL Server).

Assets Master Data List

Hi All,
I have created all the assets and need to extract the report of master data list which show descripation 1, descripation2, serial number, capitalized etc appear as per below screen shot. Please advise how i extract this type of report.

Creating right/left click scroll with a data list and being able to click indiv.item from data list?

I've created a data list that contains a photo with text. I'd like to be able to right click the horizontal list instead of a scrolling bar. Could you please direct me on this?
I'd also like to select each individual box from the scrolling data list and click to their website or to a menu... not sure on how to do that either??
I've attached an ai file of what i'm trying to achieve.

Funny, I was in the middle of writing an article on how to do this. The simple answer is you create a standard scrollbar with all four parts: track, thumb, increment button, and decrement button. Attach it to your data list, then make the opacity of the track and thumb = 0.
To make each item in your data list do something different, use the interactions panel and add a On Click interaction. You should notice there is an option toward the bottom of that panel to change from "When any item is selected" to "When a specific item is selected". Remember, programmers like to start counting from 0, so your first item in your data list i 0.
Note: In the attached example on the first two items are selectable.

Someone posted this in the show your Catylst project thread. Is this done with the Data list method? It's late, and I am beat, but I can't seem to get rollover functionality in my thumbnails. Except to fade it out from whatever opacity it starts at.
Is there a way to change the start point of a page, or can you just control the transitions of things as they apear differently from you start page to the final end point on the finish page/state? Does that make sense or am I too exauhsted to make sense anymore? Guess I'll see in the AM when I get up and re-read this looking to see if anyone responded.

i don't know if you still need the answers, but if you do, i hope this helps.
i'm not sure if the gallery in this example is a data list (if you're talking about the thumbs..), but i did the same thing just putting up the buttons and aligning them and giving them some attributes on rollover etc. it's an even easier way than doing a data list for something simple like that.
to change the start point of a page you need to do one "blank page" before your first homepage (or a duplicate) and then in the transition between them asign the items on your homepage different transitions.. on that "zero" page you can also move some items out of the box and give them a move transition to the homepage etc.

Work in Flash Catalyst beta not saving or inconsistent

I just downloaded the Flash Catalyst beta (flashcatalyst_b1_win_060109.exe) 06.03.2009.
I'm using the sample files provided with Adobe tutorial

When I open the ecotours_ui.psd and try to follow tutorial, initially, the psd elements are not lined up, and so when I reposition them to correct postions, and save, then open fxp file - positions did not hold. And also - when saving 1st time, program creates 2 fxp files: ecotours_ui.fxp and ecotours_site.fxp.
I can open ecotours_ui.fxp, but not ecotours_site.fxp.
Not an optimal experience so far.
Is my problem wuth the sample psd file, or Flash Catalyst?
Does it matter what OS and version I have of Flash and Photoshop?
I am not opening Flash or Photoshop program so I do not see how version would matter anyhow.
I have Adobe Web Premium CS3 on a Windows XP box.
PC has 512mb ram, I need more I know, but could that be a factor?
Has anyone else encountered these problems?

I took a look at the tutorial PSD file and couldn't find anything wrong with it.
When you save your project file, the only file that it should save is the ecotours_ui.fxp file. The ecotours_site.fxp file was one that was bundled in the tutorial files .zip package.
It shouldn't be a problem that you have the CS3 versions of Photoshop and Flash. As you have said, you are not running them. The lack of RAM could possibly be an issue. Another possibility might be some permissions getting in your way. Have you checked to see if the files or folders that got unzipped will allow you to write to them?

Question on "No Selection" Item for a dropdown data list?

I'm trying to set a dropdown data list on an input form to have a default value. It appears that the first item in the list (which will show as the default) is always interpreted as a null value? Is there a way to display a default value that won't be interpreted as null? Does NullValueFlag affect this behavior and if so, how? In the example below, I want 'United States' to be the default value and not be interpreted as null.
From the Online help - 'Using Complex UI Components'
"The selectOneChoice component supports a null value, that is, if the user has not selected an item, the label of the item is shown as blank, and the value of the component defaults to an empty string. Instead of using blank or an empty string, you can specify a string to represent the null value. By default, the new string appears at the top of the list of values that is defined in step 3"

Edit TableCell in TableView right after it has been added to the data list

I'm trying to make my table view editable by keyboard. So far I can edit the currently selected cell with a press of 'E'. That works without any problems:
table.edit(selectedRow, tableColumns.get(0));Now I want to add functionality for adding a new row with the press of 'N'. So when pressing 'N' I add a new Object to my data list and try to get into editing mode the same way I do it when pressing 'E', but it won't work.
My first try was like this:
data.add(new Task("", "0"));
table.edit(data.size() - 1, tableColumns.get(0));The new row gets created but I won't get the edit text field. That's why I tried to focus and select the newly created cell. The focus and selection work, but I won't get an edit field.

data.add(new Task("", "0"));
table.getFocusModel().focus(lastRow);
table.getSelectionModel().select(lastRow, tableColumns.get(0));

Does the video no longer show up under the Photos tab? You should be able to edit it there. You can't edit within albums.

What is the use of master data listed in infoprovider?

Take your thread data/question data of SDN for example
Master dara here is: User ID ( your user id ) Name, Country etc which can not be changed
Transaction data here is: Number of Views on this thread by other users ( daily increases)
Points given by you etc.
With the help of master data we can easily find out who is this user of this question and his contact details etc.
Post as many threads as you can your master details will not be changed in the SAP SDN.

Calling FLV's in xml data list

Hi All, Total n00b here. I have been building for the first time using spry and this is what i'm trying to do.
Have a thumbnail with description, plus some body text and then the flv video that goes with the story.
I have had success with the html data list but I would like to be able to do this with xml so I can update the xml on the fly.
Can anyone tell me if you can call flv's with an xml spry list and if you can any help on how would be just fantastic

Not sure if this is what you are trying to do, but I would suggest having an XML file with the name the FLV and then you read the XMLDataset and display it in an html data region.
Then a javascript onClick method should forward the name of the file to your FLV player. Something like this <a href="" onClick="loadVideo('{filename}')" /> Video 1</a>
So your HTML should have:
<html>
<script>Spry stuff</script>
<script>FLV player embed</script>
<body>
    <div> Video Player</div>
     <div>
     Video 1
     Video 2
     </div>
</body>
</html>
And your XML should be:
<playlist>
     <item>
          <filename>path to FLV video</filename>
     </item>
</plsylist>
You can look at the Spry XML Dataset examples to load the dataset.

Can't install Flash Catalyst Beta 2

I downloaded the Flash Catalyst Beta 2 for first time, I click the Install.app and the Adobe Installer shows the Initializing installer bar, when completed going thru it closes and disappears and nothing else happens. I have a new Macbook pro (intel). Please help.

Can you be more specific? When you go back to your original admin login, are you trying to run the installer again? Or are you actually launching Flash Catalyst now that it's been installed under the other account? What do you see on your screen when you run it? Does a splash screen appear and does the main window eventually appear too? What do you mean by "nothing else that will let me do"? Are there options but they are grayed out? Is the window blank? Does no window ever appear?
