Data migration procedure for upgrade

Hi,
I am working in upgrading 3.0B to BI7.0. The BI7.0  Production is already stabilized and already in use.
My query is, to the existing BI7, I need to push data from 3.0B.
Please clarify.
Thanks in advance,
Rama Murthy..

Export data from 3.0B to flat file (through open hub) and then load it to BI 7.0.
Basically upgrade supposed to be system copy of 3.0B to new box (BI 7.0 box and then upgrade) .
Hope this helps..

  • Step by step procedure for Upgrade to ECC6.0

    Hi,
I gained a lot from this forum . Can someone please mail me at

step by step procedure for upgrade .
Will award full points for helpful documents..
    With regards,
    Mrinal

SAP defined a roadmap for upgrade.
    1) Project Preparation
    Analyze the actual situation
    Define the objectives
    Create the project plan
Carry out organizational preparation for example identify the project team
    2)Upgrade Blueprint
    The system and components affected
    The mapped business processes
    The requirements regarding business data
3)Upgrade Realization -- In this phase the solution described in the design phase is implemented in a test environment. This creates a pilot system landscape, in which the processes and all their interfaces can be mapped individually and tested on the functional basis.
4)Final Preparation for Cutover -- Testing, Training, Minimizing upgrade risks, Detailed upgrade planning
    5)Production Cutover and Support
    The production solution upgrade
Startup of the solutions in the new release
    Post processing activities
Solving typical problems during the initial operation phase.
SAP expects at least 2 to 3 months for Upgrade and that again depends on project scope and complexity and various other factors.
    STEPS IN TECHNICAL UPGRADE
    •     Basis Team will do the prepare activities. (UNIX, BASIS, DBA).
    •     Developer need to run the Transaction SPDD which provides the details of SAP Standard Dictionary objects that have been modified by the client. Users need to take a decision to keep the changes or revert back to the SAP Standard Structure. More often decision is to keep the change. This is mandatory activity in upgrade and avoids data loses in new system.
    •     After completing SPDD transaction, we need to run SPAU Transaction to get the list of Standard SAP programs that have been modified.  This activity can be done in phases even after the upgrade. Generally this will be done in same go so that your testing results are consistent and have more confident in upgrade.
    •     Run SPUMG Transaction for Unicode Conversion in non-Unicode system. SPUM4 in 4.6c.
    •     Then we need to move Z/Y Objects.  Need to do Extended programming check, SQL trace, Unit testing, Integration testing, Final testing, Regression Testing, Acceptance Testing etc.,
The main Category of Objects that needs to be Upgraded is –
    •     Includes
    •     Function Groups / Function Modules
    •     Programs / Reports
    •     OSS Notes
    •     SAP Repository Objects
    •     SAP Data Dictionary Objects
    •     Domains, Data Elements
    •     Tables, Structures and Views
    •     Module Pools, Sub Routine pools
    •     BDC Programs
    •     Print Programs
    •     SAP Scripts, Screens
    •     User Exits

    Hi,
As suggested by Kai you can use LSMW. This will be better option as it is very easy to use and you can also write routines while mapping the fields. You can also use IDOCs for importing data from Legacy system.
If you want to write a report then you can use BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_CREATEMULTI. Please refer to the documentation of this BAPI. This BAPI internally calls CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN. Do not forget to call BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_SAVE to commit your data.

  • Data migration approach for Scheduling Agreements

    Gurus,
Can anyone provide guidance on the data migration approach for Scheduling Agreements? How can we migrate the open delivery schedules and the respective cumulative quantities? The document type being used is "LZ".
Can correction deliveries (Doc type - LFKO) be used update the initial cumulative quantities?
Any help in this regard is higly appreciated.
    Regards,

    Hi Zenith
You might find useful information here: IS-U data export (extraction) for EMIGALL.
I've done numerous IS-U migrations in the last 10+ years, but never one from IS-U to IS-U.
One main questions to start with: Are the two systems on the same release level?
If they are not and it would be too much effort to get them onto the same release level I would think creating your own extract programs and using the Migration workbench (EMIGALL) is the way to go.
If they are on the same level, there might possible other ways to do it, dependent on the differences between the two systems (mainly around customising). Assuming there are significant differences - otherwise why would you bother migrating? - there's the high probability that using EMIGALL is the way to go as well.

    Hi,
Check this link which may help u:
    http://sap.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/sap-basis/igs-upgrade-1455477
The installation/upgrade procedures for the integrated IGS are as follows:
    Integrated Version Installation
The integrated IGS is automatically installed with the SAP Web Application Server.
    Integrated Version Upgrade
You find the upgrade files for the integrated IGS version on the SAP Service Marketplace:
http://service.sap.com/swdc  ®  Download  ®  Support Packages and Patches ®  Entry by ApplicationGroup  ®  SAP Frontend Components ®  SAP IGS  ®  SAP IGS .
There, you find the IGS executables and libraries (igsexe_.sar) as well as the IGS folder structure (igshelper_.sar) containing among others font files.
With the upgrade files of the executables and libraries, proceed exactly like you would with kernel patches (for example, extract the Archive to the same location). More information about kernel patches can be found in the related note 19466 in the section Copying and Installing a Patch.
The upgrade files for the IGS folder structure must be extracted to the instance directory (DIR_INSTANCE). More information can be found in note 1028690.
After a restart of the Web AS the new IGS is up and running.
Information about finding out your IGS patch level is provided in note 931900.
For an upgrade of an integrated IGS please also check note 896400.

  • Offline data migration fails for BLOB field from MySQL 5.0 to 11g

I tried to use standalone Data Migration several years ago to move a database from MySQL to Oracle. At that time it was unable to migrate blob fields. I am trying again, hoping this issue might have been fixed in the mean time. That does not appear to be the case. The rows in question have a single BLOB field (it is a binary encoding of a serialized Java object, containing on the order of 1-2K bytes, a mixture of plain text and a small amount of non-ASCII data which is presumably part of the structure of the Java object). The mysqldump appears to correctly store the data, surrounded by the expected <EOFD> and <EORD> separators. The data as imported consists of a small (roughly 1-200) ASCII characters, apparently hex encoded, because if I do a hex dump of the mysqldump I can recognized some of the character pairs that appear in the blob field after import. However, they are apparently flipped within the word or otherwise displaced from each other (although both source and destinations machines are x86 family), and the imported record stops long before all the data is encoded.
For example, here is a portion of the record as imported:
    ACED0005737200136A6
and here is a hex dump of the input
    0000000 3633 3838 3037 3c39 4f45 4446 303e 3131
    0000020 3036 3830 3836 453c 464f 3e44 312d 453c
    0000040 464f 3e44 6e49 7473 7469 7475 6f69 446e
    0000060 7461 3c61 4f45 4446 ac3e 00ed 7305 0072
    0000100 6a13 7661 2e61 7475 6c69 482e 7361 7468
    0000120 6261 656c bb13 250f 4a21 b8e4 0003 4602
    0000140 0a00 6f6c 6461 6146 7463 726f 0049 7409
    0000160 7268 7365 6f68 646c 7078 403f 0000 0000
AC ED appears in the 5th and 6th word of the 4th line, 00 05 in the 6th and 7th words, etc.
I see explicit references to using hex encoding for MS SQL and other source DB's, but not for mysql.
I suspect the encoder is hitting some character within the binary data that is aborting the encoding process, because so far the records I've looked at contain the same data (roughly 150 characters) for every record, and when I look at the binary input, it appears to be part of the Java object structure which may repeat for every record.
    Here is the ctl code:
    load data
    infile 'user_data_ext.txt' "str '<EORD>'"
    into table userinfo.user_data_ext
    fields terminated by '<EOFD>'
    trailing nullcols
    internal_id NULLIF internal_id = 'NULL',
    rt_number "DECODE(:rt_number, 'NULL', NULL, NULL, ' ', :rt_number)",
    member_number "DECODE(:member_number, 'NULL', NULL, NULL, ' ', :member_number)",
    object_type "DECODE(:object_type, 'NULL', NULL, NULL, ' ', :object_type)",
    object_data CHAR(2000000) NULLIF object_data = 'NULL'
    )

It looks like the data is actually being converted correctly. What threw me off was the fact that the mysql client displays the actual blob bytes, while sqlplus automatically converts them to hex for display, but only shows about 2 lines of the hex data. When I check field lengths they are correct.

  • Data migration - procedure

I have three tables and want to create another table that includes the structure of all the three tables and later drop the three tables.
How to acheive the data migration by writing a procedure.
    Thanks in advance
    Raghu

That is indeed the better option. If you insist on writing a procedure, a few selects from the DBA_TABLES, an array and some dynamic SQL should do the trick. After that you can transfer the data, and drop the tables.

  • HT1338 Do you have a recommended procedure for upgrading from os x 10.4 to 10.6?  The machine is a MB with a 2Ghz Core 2 Duo.

What is the procedure to upgrade a MacBook 2GHz Core 2 Duo from Tiger (10.4.11) to Snow Leopard (10.6.6)?  We have the new os and apps disks; wish to retain data files.

Back up the system, insert a retail DVD, double-click the installer, and follow the instructions. The retail DVD will be either 10.6 or 10.6.3; Mac OS X 10.6.6 DVDs can't be used to upgrade.

  • Procedure for Upgrading My Hard Drive

    Hello,
I have a Mac Pro full of 1.5 TB+ hard drives to store video and other files. My primary drive, however, is only 320 GB and since it is used to hold temporary files while editing and converting video, I have completely filled it up several times and had to move stuff around to get some free space back.
Ever since the drive was maxed out, my Mac has been running really slow. I checked Drive Genius 3 for fragmentation, and it says my drive is 60% fragmented, so I'm guessing this is where my performance problems are coming from. I bought a new 2 TB drive that I plan to swap out. My only question is how to go about restoring the data.
I have been backing up with Time Machine for quite a while, so once I swap the drive, should I do a Restore System from Backup, or should I reinstall, then use the Migration Assistant?
    Thanks

There are a few ways to do this..
    1. Buy Carbon Copy Cloner and use it to create an image of your current disk.. install the new disk, then create new system disk using Carbon Copy Cloner.
    2. Drag and drop all your user files to a backup drive including iTunes and iPhoto libraries.. install your new disk and then drag and drop these files back in. This approach requires you to reinstall MacOS from the system disks 1&2 that came with the original computer, install subsequent upgrades with 10.6.6 Combi upgrade software, and application install disks(images) including iLife '11.
    3. If you used TC to backup your entire disk then "restore" would work as long as you can boot from another disk before you attempt to restore using TC. I am not sure how this in done though so you should get help before you attempt this approach. Some people have had problems associating the old TC backup image with the new user account on the new disk. Maybe macjack (from above) can offer advice on the correct procedure to follow. I just don't know what it is..
I did a hard disk upgrade on my MBP with approach #2 and a 750GB disk from macsales.com. It worked out fine.

  • What is the correct procedure for upgrading to aperture 3.4

I am working in South Sudan and am shortly going to be in a place where I can download all the updates. The last time I did an update was around 2 weeks ago.
I presume that there will be updates for Mountain Lion, iPhoto and Aperture, plus a whole pile of iOS updates. From the support questions I see that there is a number of people having problems.
I presume that the first thing to do will be to rebuild the library of aperture.
What is the correct procedure after that?

If I do an upgrade through AppStore, and find it does not work, do I uninstall first by removing to trash? What do you mean by revert to an earlier version, and which previous version of Aperture should I use.
    Neville,
So you did buy Aperture from the AppStore?
Then move the Aperture application to the Trash, but do not empty it, just in case
Sign into the AppStore and reinstall. In this case you do not need to revert to an earlier version. If the AppStore installer does not find an Aperture in your Applications folder, it will have to make a full install, and no incompatible frameworks should remain, as is the problem with the partial upgrades right now.
Yes, I have a bootable clone,
And have you checked, if you really can boot from your clone? Just being very cautious.
Do you use facebook? Some posters are having problems, even after reinstalling, if the want to publish to Facebook. Post back, if you encounter that problem.
    Good Luck

  • Migration Procedure for NMS4.15p7(NDS4.16) to iMS5.2(IDS5.1)

    Hello,
I'm lost in this matter, because the sun documentation is too confusing concerning this procedure. My question is:
Can i migrate from Netscape Messaging Server 4.15 Patch7 using Netscape Directory Server 4.16 to iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 with iPlanet Directory Server 5.1P1 or Netscape Directory Server 4.16? If Yes, HOW?
I am in Hurry. I need to know if this migration is possible or not.
    Thanks in advance
    Bests Regards

These are the steps I followed for my migration:
    1. Install iDS 5.1 Patch 1
You can just install patch 1, it is a full install
    2. Run ims_dssetup.pl on iDS install
    3. Install iMS 5.2
    4. Install Patch 1 for iMS 5.2
    5. Change iMS 5.2 to Driect LDAP mode instead of dirsync
    6. Install iES 6 (web server needed for Delegated Admin)
    7. Install iDA 1.2p1 (Delegated Admin for web based user/group management)
    5. Create two users to test (created user dadmin and test)
    6. create indexes needed for direct LDAP mode, increase memory allocation for LDAP server (use console app)
    7. Shut everything down and back up directories
    8. Start everything back up
    9. run sed script and import people.ldif and groups.ldif
    10. Migrate store
    11. test test test!
NOTES: You should use the -k flag (I think it's the k flag) for all installs and save the resulting install scripts so when you need to reinstall, you can use that script with the silent install flag and it will install EXACTLY as it did before.
You should shut down and back up the install directories BEFORE migrating the users, groups and store. That way if the sed scripts don't work, you can delete the directories and restore and try again. This will save you a lot of time installing and reinstalling. Also, the install scripts save time too. I installed everything in the directores like this:
    /netscape/iDS
    /netscape/iMS
    /netscape/iES
    /netscape/iDA
I can tar up those directories really quickly and restore them when I mess them up.
Follow the randmonly placed directLDAP info to increase performance. There is some info in the migration guide, some in the admin guide and some in the command reference guide. You MUST index the proper fields or performance will be very bad. I indexed the following:
    inetUserStatus
    mailUserStatus
    inetMailGroupStatus
    mailEquivalentAddress
    mailRoutingAddress
    mailMsgMaxBlocks
    mailQuota
    mailMsgQuota
    mailProgramDeliveryInfo
    mailDeliveryFileURL
    maildeliveryfile
    mailConversionTag
    mailDeliveryOption
    vacationStartDate
    vacationEndDate
    mailForwardingAddress
    memberURL
    rfc822mailmember
    mailAccessDomain
    mailMessageStore
    preferredLanguage
    mailAllowedServiceAccess
Also, read the migration guide. It's very full of useful info about the new DIT structure and how things work.

  • Suugested procedure for upgrading

A recurring theme I see in the posts of those having problems, is that they just clicked on "Upgrade" instead of using either "Archive and Install" or "Erase and Install"
You should never, never use the "Upgrade" option when installing a .0 release. This is because coorupt or incompatable files may cause problems with the new OS.
The Archive & Install and Erase & Install procedures are the recommended ways to install a major .0 upgrade, with the latter probably being the best for "purity", though the price is having to re-install all of you applications. I use the Archive & Install method. However, when going from the .0 to the .1, then .2, etc. updates the "Update" procedure works fine. But I still backup beforehand.

    A Mitchell wrote:
There is no shortage of posts from users who chose the Clean Install option and still encountered problems on restarting.
Really? I haven't seen a one. I suppose it could happen due to a hardware failure/incompatibility or incompatible plug-ins in the user's library folder.
Just as there is no shortage of posts from users who chose an Upgrade path and encountered no trouble whatsoever.
That's true. I still would never do an upgrade on a major version release like this. That is just asking for trouble.
Obviously if a simple Upgrade were a road to disaster,
There is no such thing as a "simple" upgrade. An upgrade is the most complicated install method there is and one most likely to cause problems.
then Apple would not have the installer set to default to this method.
I think that Apple considers it "not their problem", and I think they are right. The vast majority of 10.5 installs (via upgrade or anything else) have been fine. I think Apple could have done a better job of warning people that they had 3rd party system modifications and that an upgrade install, while still low risk, is more risky than normal. And I've been a good boy and submitted this idea via the official Apple feedback page.
