Hi Gurus
Please tel me the steps in data migration from Development server to quality and from quality to Production using Transport number.
Thanks and regards

for different servers
suppose you make TR at development server, go to se09    and release it
go to the other server (quality or production) and import the same with help of BASIS team.
for same server
suppose you make TR at development client,
go to scc1 and import the same ( to quality)

  • Data Migration-LSMW using IDoc Method

    Hi Friends,
I have contract relevant information in the form of a excel spreadsheet/tab delimited flat file.
This transactional data has information such as Header Data, Item Data and Sub Item data (BOM explosion).
I need to migrate this data from the flat file to the CRM application using the IDoc Method of LSMW.
/When I used the Batch Input Recording method, the item data was not captured during recording./
Kindly send me relevant information to [email protected]
    Thanks in Anticipation
    rgards,
    Praveen

    Hello Sven,
thanks for your comment. Unfortunatelly those both transactions do not exitst because I work on SAP CRM 7.0 instead of SAP ECC. I also looked for similar transactions in the table but didn't find anything.

  • Data migration problems using Firewire

Hi everybody, this is my first post.
I have just bought an Intel-based iMac 20" 2.4 GHz running Leopard.
I tried to transfer data from an old (year 2000) iMac DV 450 MHz running OS 9.0.4, connecting the two machines by Firewire ports and using the Migration Assistant.
Everything was OK, in the sense that the Firewire icon with HD of the old Mac was correctly displayed, but was completely empty (no file/folder in it).
At the same time the Migration Assistant seemed to be blocked on "waiting for disks appearing", with no possibility to continue.
Any advice on how to solve this problem ? Have I to allow more time for the files to appear, or something wrong happened ?
Thanks a lot for you help.

Hello Mongoi and welcome to  Discussions.
The new Intel's cannot connect with some of the older iMacs via Firewire. I had the same problem, so instead I connected the two via File Sharing (Connect to Server using the Intel to connect to my old G4) and moved things across manually.
Click on this link for some detailed information about the differences between your old and new system, keeping in mind you will need to move things across manually.

  • SAP Best Practices for Data Migration :repositories only on MS SQL Server ?

    Hi,
I'm implementing the "SAP Best Practices for Data Migration" (see https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/bp-datamigration).
As part of the installation you have to install MS SQL Server Express Edition. The installation guide contains detailed steps to do this. All repositories for Data Services should be running on SQL Server, according to the installation guide.
The customer I'm working for now does not want to use SQL Server, but DB2, as company standard.
So I use DB2 for the local and profiler repositories.
I notice however that the web application http://localhost:8080/MigrationServices does not support DB2.The only database type you can select in the configuration area is MS SQL Server.
Is this a limitation, a by design ?

    Hans,
The current release of SAP Best Practices for Data Migration, v1.32, supports only MS SQL Server.  The intent when developing the DM content was to quickly set up a temporary, standardized data migration environment, using tools that are available to everyone.  SQL Server Express was chosen to host the repositories, because it is easy to set up and can be downloaded for free.  Sone users have successfully deployed the content on Oracle XE, but as you have found, the MigrationServices web application works only with SQL Server.
The next release, including the web app, will support SQL Server and Oracle, but not DB2.

  • Order no Ranges (better use Transport no or direct config)

    Dear All,
Please advice. Which one better ? use Transport number when we create order no ranges or direct config
For example when use tcode CO82 or OPSC to assign number network.
    Thank you.
    Nies

    Hi Sreenivas,
Appreciate for your advice. I already created the transport number for it in development client. What should i do? should i delete it? or later just direct config in QAS and production.
I am doing this number ranges for 1st implementation

  • How to use IDoc. in data migration?

    Dear Expert,
How can I use IDoc. method in Data Migration???

    Hi,
You can use Idoc method in data migration using LSMW - Idoc method.
In LSMW select the Idoc method and give the Message type and Basic type according to your requirement.
Before that you need to maintain the Idoc inbound processing.
    Goto LSMW initial screen,
LSMW -> Settings -> IDoc Inbound Processing. Maintain File port, partner type and partner no.
After maintaining the Partner no. goto WE20 (maintain partner no.) and add the message type in the Inbound parameters of the partner no. Also we need to maintain the Process code for the message type.
After all this settings we can use Idoc method for data migration.
The rest of the steps are same as other methods till convert data.

  • Serial number data migration

    Hi gurus,
    I've the following problem.
We're introducing serial number management in a SAP ECC 6.0.
The system is just in use so that we've stock in storage location for those materials that will be serialized.
I've to assign serial number to each peace of material in stock.
Note that the material are managed in handling unit, and I've to migrate not only serial number in stock, but serial number in each handling unit.
    I've tried the following procedure:
    1. update of material master record, with serial number profile assignment
2 create serial number master record, updating field werks, storage location, stock type
    3. modification of HU, with serial number assignment
Following these steps, the stock and the HU are assigned to Serial number.
However, the system status of serial number is AVLB  instead of ESTO, because I have not made some stock movement.
    So:
1:is this precedure correct or can someone suggest me anotehr one?
2: how can I change serial number system status forn AVLB to ESTO?
    thanks
    Marco
Edited by: Marco Abrate on Jan 11, 2011 11:11 AM
For the 2° question I've found a solution: via tcode IQ02, I can update serial number status using function "Edit--> special serial number function" -->manual transaction --> to stock". So the SN staus is ASTo.

    Hi,
From IE02 - Edit, Special serial number functions, Manual transaction.
This will allow you to move the status on depending on the status that your currently at.
    Hope that's a start!

  • Step using old measurement data

    I have a strange problem.
I have a test sequence which runs correctly for several previous steps, using VI's
Then it comes to 2 steps test (multi numeric) which calls the same VI (once in each step), output of VI is a 12 element numeric array.
Now these steps are failing because the measurement used seems to be old data (i.e. the first step is using the measurement from that VI from the last sequence run, and the second step is using measurement from the previous step)
I know the VI is returning the correct data, beacuse i put in a break point & watched it.
And i know that VI data is initialised before returning the measurement.
Its really crazy. None of the previous steps using other VI show this problem. And i can call the VI in question manually and it returns correct data.
    Any ideas?
    Labview 2010, TestStand 2010

If you are using the same VI's on different steps and dont unload the step after its completed, this willl mean your VI stays in memory and any values on controls and indicators will remain from previous calls unless ofcourse you pass new data on the all the controls, or initialise any unused controls. Like wise on indicators make sure you initialise these, so for instance if you dont empty the output array or completely over write the indicator with the same number of elements as in previous calls you may see old data pass back to Teststand.
Do you pass the error cluster out, maybe you are getting a error and if you are not passing this back to teststand maybe you are seeing old data because of an unseen error.
    Just a couple of thought.

I recently had a data migration from old iMac to new iMac 11.2

FireWire cables are dirt cheap and that's how you should be doing the migration. You might have to start over, wiping the new machine's HD, and restoring the software as described in the Everything Mac manual that came with it. See Best Practices and Setup new Mac for more details.

and one more thing i am not getting miragation menu name in menu items.
    please help me.

    Hi,
To connect to non-Oracle databases from SQL*Developer youneed to download the relevant JDBC driver.
This is detailed in the documentation in the User Guide -
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35137_01/appdev.32/e35117.pdf
    in the section -
    Database: Third Party JDBC Drivers
The Third Party JDBC Drivers pane specifies drivers to be used for connections to third-party (non-Oracle) databases, such as IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Sybase Adaptive Server. (You do not need to add a driver for connections to Microsoft Access databases.) To add a driver, click Add Entry and select the path for the driver:
■For IBM DB2: the db2jcc.jar and db2jcc_license_cu.jar files, which are available from IBM
■For MySQL: a file with a name similar to mysql-connector-java-5.0.4-bin.jar, in a directory under the one into which you unzipped the download for the MySQL driver
■For Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server: jtds-1.2.jar, which is included in the jtds-1.2-dist.zip download
■For Teradata: tdgssconfig.jar and terajdbc4.jar, which are included (along with a readme.txt file) in the TeraJDBC__indep_indep.12.00.00.110.zip or TeraJDBC__indep_indep.12.00.00.110.tar download
To find a specific third-party JDBC driver, see the appropriate website (for example, http://www.mysql.com for the MySQL Connector/J JDBC driver for MySQL, http://jtds.sourceforge.net/ for the jTDS driver for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase Adaptive Server, or search at http://www.teradata.com/ for the JDBC driver for Teradata). For MySQL, use the MySQL 5.0 driver, not 5.1 or later, with SQL Developer release 1.5.
You must specify a third-party JDBC driver or install a driver using the Check for Updates feature before you can create a database connection to a third-party database of that associated type. (See the tabs for creating connections to third-party databases in the Create/Edit/Select Database Connection dialog box.)
    Regards,
    Mike

  • Using XI in  Data Migration World

    Hi,
We are thinking to use XI as a replacement to ETL tool in our typical data migration activities.
    1) Is it easy to do XI for data migration activities like converting Materials, Vendors,Customers, etc? There will be significant cleaning & profiling of data. Is that possible using XI?
    2) Do we still need to use staging database? Any architecture document or white papers covering DM-XI will be very helpful
    3) We have several legacy systems to convert in phases and I am looking for any best standards of practice using DM with XI.
Any additional information on conversions with XI is very useful.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
If u think only for data migration purpose Xi is not suugestable, since we need to convert large volume of data. We have standard programs also if u want convert data into SAP.
XI is could be useful to fetch the data from legacy and post the needed information into target system by converting suitable format.
