Data migration  to newly configured warehouse

Hi Experts
I have transferred all the materials to a dummy storage location and now i wish to get back in to original storage location after assigning the warehouse. I think of the following approach for data migratiion to WH.
I wish to configure for automatic TO creation for movement type 311. I will record an LSMW for MB1B transaction ensuring transfer between storage locations. Due to atomatic TO config, the TO creation should happen with background program.
Is this works?
If not, what would be the right practice?
warm regards
ramSiva

Hi Siva ,
  While working with LSMW this might not work , But TR will get generated as you have configured all the settings.
  What you can do here is , Use T-code LT41 ..which will allow you to process the TR's in bulk . And as you are dealing with only one movement type , you can Process all Trs in one go.
  LT 41 is used for group processing .

Mahesh

    1.     Send Object Dependencies
    2.     Send Characteristics
    3.     Send Variant Functions
    4.     Send Variant Table Structure
    5.     Send Object Dependencies again
    6.     Send Classes.

    Hi,
    So i have configured the system accordingly with the OSS Notes 954816 and  956054. This should allow that knew created master data customers could be replicated in the FDSCM-COL to the business partners.
    I'm know trying to use the MDS_LOAD_COCKPIT to migrate the old customers master data but the system seems to not create any data.
    Does this transaction needs to have any other configuration more our to activate any BAPI ?
    PS: I tried to activate the FDM_PARTNER_MAP_COLL bapi but the system did not allowed stating the message ENHANCEMENT194.

  • Data Migration from Legacy System in IS-U

    Hi All,
    We are going to Implement a new IS-U project,  I have a problem with LSMW(Legacy System Migration Workbench ),  I have some Conversion Objects of IS-U and I need to know whether Data Migration is possible or not, please tell me how to find these Objects and how to know Data Migration is possible or not.
    Objects are like.,
    1. Accounts
    2. Actuate Reports
    3. Business Partner Relationships
    4. Active Campaigns/Campaign Content/Dispositions
    5. Connection Object
    6. Contacts
    7. Contracts
    8. Opportunities
    9. Payment Arrangement History
    10. Payments
    11. Premises
    12. Rate Changes
    13. Security Deposits
    these are few and there are some more..,
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sai.

    Hi Ram,
    Use Transaction Code EMIGALL. It will ask for company code. By default Company Code is SAP. If you entered with the SAP you will get all the objects.Then goto menu IS-U Migration-->User Handbook. It will give you details Idea.
    Also Check the following Procedure
    You can find detailed documentation of EMIGALL in SAP itself. Use Transaction EQ81 to display it. It provides all the concepts and procedures to work with EMIGALL.
    Here are some points about EMIGALL :
    1. It Migrates data Business Object wise
    2. It uses Direct Input Technique
    3. It has more than 100 objects of IS-U
    and the steps for implementation goes like this:
    1)You have to create a user specially for migration which will have all the authorizations related to migration workbench, BASIS and IS-U
    2)You have to create your own company in EMIGALL. There is a default company called SAP.
    3)Company SAP contains all the Business Objects
    4)You have to figure out what business objects u need and then u have to copy those business objects to ur company from Standard Company SAP
    5)Each objects contains more than one structure and each structure can contain more than one fields. The relation goes like this
    Object ---> Structure ---> Field
    6)You have to define field rules for each required field of the object. You have to mark "Not required" for fields u don't need
    7)After field rules for a given object is set u have to generate load report i.e. actual Direct Input Program which will migrate data. This program is generated on basis of field rules set by u.
    8)After the load report is generated u have to prepare an input file (import File) for migration. The import file should be according to structure provided by SAP and must be in binary format. SAP Provides the structure of file according to your configurations. You have to write ur own Data conversion program(in any language) for this task.
    9)You take import file as input and migrate the data using generated load program
    10)Finally u can check the Migration Statistics and Error Log
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Data Migration from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010

    Hi,
    We have done a migration project for one of our client.
    This migration was done from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Enterprise Server 2010.
    After the migration was completed we developed lot of new webparts, lists ,application pages in this newly migrated farm in SharePoint Enterprise Server 2010.
    However the entire project took around 1 year due to some unavoidable delays. During this one year our client was using MOSS 2007 sites for there work. hence the data in MOSS 2007 farm/sites was continuously updated.
    Our client needs to go live in next month and also needs the sites/lists/libraries which are migrated in new SP 2010 farm to be updated as per the MOSS 2007 farm.
    Kindly suggest best possible way to achieve this data migration since last 1 year from MOSS 2007 to newly migrated SharePoint Enterprise Server 2010 farm.
    Kindly note we have done lot of customization and new developments in newly created SP 2010 farm.
    Thanks and regards,
    Amien

    Hi there,
    If you have already taken care of customization on SP2010 server. Then use any of the migration tools available in market to migrate data to target SP server.
    Content Matrix gives free 25 GB to migrate your SharePoint data (https://www.metalogix.com/Resources/Promotions/Content-Matrix-Migration-Express-Download.aspx).
    If you don't know what is changed in last 1 year, then best thing to do is add new content database and migrate your data into it.
    Hope that helps.

  • Data Migration From Peoplesoft , JDEdwards To SAP.

    Hi,
    This is kiran here we are doing data Migration work from Peoplesoft And JDEdwards to SAP.in SAP side it involves Master data tables Related to Customer, Vendor, Material. and Meta data tables related to SD, MM, FI. We as SAP Consultant identified Fields from above tables and marked them as Required, Not required, And Mandatory. The Peoplesoft and JDEdwards flocks come up with the same from their side. Then we want map the Fields. as I am new to data Migration any body suggest me what are the steps involves in data Migration How to do Data Mapping in Migration Thanks in advance.
    Thanks
    Kiran.B

    Hi Kiran,
    Good... Check out the following documentation and links
    Migrating from one ERP solution to another is a very complex undertaking. I don't think I would start with comparing data structures. It would be better to understand the business flows you have currently with any unique customizations and determine how these could be implemented in your target ERP. Once this is in place, you can determine the necessary data unload/reload to seed your target system.
    A real configuration of an ERP system will only happen when there is real data in the system. The mapping of legacy system data to a new ERP is a long difficult process, and choices must be made as to what data gets moved and what gets left behind. The only way to verify what you need to actually run in the new ERP environment is to migrate the data over to the ERP development and test environments and test it. The only way to get a smooth transition to a new ERP is to develop processes as automatic as possible to migrate the data from the old system to the new.
    Data loading is not a project that can be done after everything else is ready. Just defining the data in the legacy system is a huge horrible task. Actually mapping it to one of the ERP system schemas is a lesson in pain that must be experienced to be believed.
    The scope of a data migration project is usually a fairly large development process with a lot of proprietary code written to extract legacy data, transform and load the data into the ERP system. This process is usually called ETL (extract, transform, load.)
    How is data put into the ERP?
    There is usually a painfully slow data import facility with most ERP systems. Mashing data into the usually undocumented table schema is also an option, but must be carefully researched. Getting the data out of the legacy systems is usually left to the company buying the ERP. These export - import processes can be complex and slow, sometimes specialized ETL tools can help, sometimes it is easier to use what ever your programmers are familiar with, tools such as C, shell or perl.
    An interesting thing to note is that many bugs and quirks of the old systems will be found when the data is mapped and examined. I am always amazed at what data I find in a legacy system, usually the data has no relational integrity , note that it does not have much more integrity once it is placed in an ERP system so accurate and clean data going in helps to create a system that can work.
    The Business Analysts (BAs) that are good understand the importance of data migration and have an organized plan to migrate the data, allocate resources, give detailed data maps to the migrators (or help create the maps) and give space estimates to the DBAs. Bad BAs can totally fubar the ERP implementation. If the BAs and management cannot fathom that old data must be mapped to the new system, RUN AWAY. The project will fail.

  • DMS Data Migration-Help required

    Hi,
    I don't have enough knowledge on DMS Data migration.
    In our recent Implementation, we are implementing SAP DMS.
    Our client has more legacy data which is in their server. So we have to upload all the data's into SAP DMS.
    I gone through few SCN threads and understand that LSMW & BDC will be used for Data migration.
    Which is the best method for Data migration?
    We are having 50+ document types and it has different processes (status network), Classification & few Object links.
    Please advice me and provide me some examples to upload legacy data in DMS.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
    There are few approach discussed in the thread https://scn.sap.com/thread/2119796
    You may check feasibility on these approaches for your scenario.
    We are having 50+ document types and it has different processes (status network), Classification & few Object links.
    Creating these configurations into SAP is one time and should not be a problem.
    I gone through few SCN threads and understand that LSMW & BDC will be used for Data migration.
    Which is the best method for Data migration?
    How much volume of data do you have in legacy system ?
    Have a thought on whether do you really need to migrate all these data into SAP DMS   ???
    OR
    You can configure the DMS system and start fresh leaving the document in legacy system as it is.
    Hope this helps.

  • New domain, Roaming Profiles, Outlook 2010 gives error 'Your Outlook data file cannot be configured'.

    Hi there,
    I have recently setup a new domain, with a new domain controller and new exchange 2013 server.
    these are running on a cluster of 2 x hyper-v 2012r2 hosts. All VMs are running server 2012 r2.
    although I don't think that has any bearing on my issue.
    I have migrated all of my existing user machines to the new domain.
    We use roaming profiles.
    When a user logs into their PC for the first time, all is ok.
    when a user logs into a different machine (they log off of their first machine and then log into a second machine),
    they get the following error when opening outlook.
    'Your Outlook data file cannot be configured. C:\Users\%username%.domain\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\[email protected]'
    I can manually resolve this on each machine by doing one of the following.
    1. Before the user logs in, I log in as an administrator or browse to the pc from another machine create a folder in users called 'whatevertheuserssusernameis' (please note, I actually put in the user's username, ie OKIRWAN)
    when the user then logs in, their profile is created in %username%.domain instead of %username%.
    I believe this is the route of the problem, as when we added the new machines to the domain, and they logged in for the first time to their 'usual machine', there was already a folder in users with their username, so when we added to the new domain and logged
    in for the first time, it created a new folder called %username%.domain, however when the user logs into a pc they never have logged into before, it creates their profile in %username% but their roaming profile is looking for their OST in C:\Users\%username%.domain\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\[email protected].
    2. My second way around this is to go to control panel and mail and remove and recreate the users outlook profile.
    As I have 100 users, who move to various different machines, these manual options are not really viable.
    I have tried redirecting the OST file to c:\OST via group policy, this did not resolve the issue.
    All users are local admins on their machines.
    if I open outlook as administrator then it loads ok and creates the OST file in C:\Users\%username%.domain\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\[email protected].
    however if I close outlook and open it again without running as administrator I get the following error.
    File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file C:\Users\%username%.domain\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\[email protected]. (even administrators on that PC have full access to that folder).
    All users are running outlook 2010.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Kind Regards
    Owen

    Hi,
    We can try to set up new profiles for users via creating a PRF file using the Office Customization Tool.

  • Data Migration (FI/CO)

    Hi,
    Kindly let me know the process for data migration from legacy to SAP system.
    The client wants us to migrate not only the open items but also all the line items (since there are not much transactions as the company was newly incorporated).
    We are following the BDC approach, I need to know if there is a debit item then which account is to be credited.
    If any document please send to my email [email protected]
    Points would be awarded.
    Thanks
    SS

    Hi SS,
    I would recommend you to check the LSMW. You can achieve a lot with this tool to convert master data and transaction. Check also the modules you have. For example the asset module has special functions for conversion purpose.

  • Data Migration from CRM 5.0 to CRM 7.0

    Hi Friends,
    We are into a re-implementation on CRM 7.0. The old system was on CRM 5.0.
    Since this is not an upgrade, the data will not copied over from the old system into the new system.
    So, now I would like to know how to migrate data (master/transaction) from CRM 5.0 into 7.0.
    I have read that we can make use of BAPI/LSMW/IDOC/XIF adapters to push info into CRM.
    But, the customer wants all the historical data to be in the new system.
    I think master data can be handled....  but how to migrate the transaction data?.... i mean the number ranges/document flow.. and other relationships.. how can we maintain the same links into the new system?
    If it was a migration from legacy system into the SAP CRM, we could have gone ahead with new number ranges etc... but this migration is from SAP to SAP.
    Also, we will have ECC6.0 connected to CRM 7.0. ANy additional things to be taken care of when the connection is live in DEV/QA/PROd instances?
    Any pointers to this ?

    Hi Gary,
    As per my understanding, your data migration involves quite complex scenarios covering the CRM and ERP box. As the customer needs the old data to be present in the new implementation, the old data needs to be migrated from the CRM 5.0 to CRM 7.0. For the migration to happen, you need to setup the customization (like the number ranges,Condition Data Tables, etc ). Then only you can proceed with the data migration. Also, you need a proper backup plan as this involves proper backup of the data.
    Once the setup is complete, you need to configure the ECC6.0 with the CRM7.0 system. Here also, you need to do a lot of settings and performing the Initial loading of the Adapter Objects. But before you proceed with the entire operation, the entire system landscape must be properly defined with appropriate settings.
    My recomendation is to take help of SAP Consultants and data migration experts as they are the best persons to guide you on this. Also it would be great if you can go through the SAP Best Practices documents which are best repository documents to guide you on this.
    Have a look on this link for an overview of the CRM Data Migration

    thank you guys for the support.
    i am into a data migration project.
    i need the initial setup for the idocs and bapis.
    i dont know anything about these so can u send me the process for the setup and the data migration process too with idocs and bapis.
    i didnt understand when they asked me if we can data migrate with a ALE, is that the same as using idocs and bapis or is it a different approach.
    u can send me at any inofrmation connected to my eamil addr.
    i would really appreciate that.
    thank you.

    Hi,
    Outbound:
    Step 1. Application document is created when transaction is saved.
    2. Message control is invoked.
    3. Messages are processed by system.
    4. Messages are Edited (if desired).
    5. Output (ALE / EDI) is checked
    6. Validate against Message control record from Partner Profile
    7. Application Document is saved.
    8. Entry NAST table is created for every selected output program
    along with Medium & Timing.

    The BAPIs Create() and CreateFromData() create an instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. These BAPIs are class methods.
    Change( )
    The BAPI Change() changes an existing instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. The BAPI Change () is an instance method.
    Delete( ) and Undelete( ) The BAPI Delete() deletes an instance of an SAP business object type from the database or sets a deletion flag.
    The BAPI Undelete() removes a deletion flag. These BAPIs are instance methods.
    Cancel ( ) Unlike the BAPI Delete(), the BAPI Cancel() cancels an instance of a business object type. The instance to be cancelled remains in the database and an additional instance is created and this is the one that is actually canceled. The Cancel() BAPI is an instance method.
    Add<subobject> ( ) and Remove<subobject> ( ) The BAPI Add<subobject> adds a subobject to an existing object inst! ance and the BAPI and Remove<subobject> removes a subobject from an object instance. These BAPIs are instance methods.

    U need to give the step_nr, item_nr, cond_count and cond_type so the correct conditon will be updated. If no condition exists for the given parameters, a new condition will be created.
    U can find these parameters for a particular condition type in table KONV.

    Bdc to Bapi
    The steps to be followed are :
    1. Find out the relevant BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE for VA02).
    for VA01 use BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2
    2. Create a Z program and call the BAPi (same as a Funtion module call).
    2. Now, if you see this BAPi, it has
    -> Importing structures.
    eg: SALESDOCUMENT: this will take the Sales order header data as input.
    -> Tables parameters:
    eg: ORDER_ITEM_IN: this will take the line item data as input.
    Note :
    Only specify fields that should be changed
    Select these fields by entering an X in the checkboxes
    Enter a U in the UPDATEFLAG field
    Always specify key fields when changing the data, including in the checkboxes
    The configuration is an exception here. If this needs to be changed, you need to complete it again fully.
    Maintain quantities and dates in the schedule line data
    Possible UPDATEFLAGS:
    U = change
    D = delete
    I = add
    Example
    1. Delete the whole order
    2. Delete order items
    3. Change the order
    4. Change the configuration
    Notes
    1. Minimum entry:
    You must enter the order number in the SALESDOCUMENT structure.
    You must always enter key fields for changes.
    You must always specify the update indicator in the ORDER_HEADER_INX.
    2. Commit control:
    The BAPI does not run a database Commit, which means that the application must trigger the Commit so that the changes are read to the database. To do this, use the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT BAPI.
    For further details... refer to the Function Module documentation for the BAPi.
    Bapi to VB(Visual Basic)
    Long back I had used the following flow structure to acheive the same.
    Report -> SM59 RFC destination -> COM4ABAP -> VB.exe
    my report uses the rfc destination to create a COM session with com4abap. com4abap calls the vb.exe and manages the flow of data between sap and vb exe.
    You need to have com4abap.exe
    If com4abap is installed you will find it in sapgui installatin directory , C:\Program Files\SAPpc\sapgui\RFCSDK\com4abap.
    else refer OSS note 419822 for installation of com4abap
    after making the settings in com4abap to point to the vb program and setting up rfc destination in sm59 to point to com4abap session , you can use the following function modules to call the vb code.
    for setting up com4abap and rfc destination please refer to the documentation for com4abap.
    Invoke NEW DCOM session
    call function 'BEGIN_COM_SESSION'
    exporting
    service_dest = service_dest "(this will be a RFC destination created in SM59)
    importing
    worker_dest = worker_dest
    exceptions
    connect_to_dcom_service_failed = 1
    connect_to_dcom_worker_failed = 2
    others = 3.
    call function 'create_com_instance' destination worker_dest
    exporting
    clsid = g_c_clsid
    typelib = g_c_typelib
    importing
    instid = g_f_oid
    exceptions
    communication_failure = 1 message g_f_msg
    system_failure = 2 message g_f_msg
    invalid_instance_id = 3
    others = 4.
    call function 'com_invoke' destination worker_dest
    exporting
    %instid = g_f_oid
    %method = 'UpdatePDF'
    sntemp = g_v_const_filent
    snsysid = sy-sysid
    snflag = 'N'
    tables
    rssaptable = g_t_pdfdetail1
    %return = g_t_pdfdetail1 "t_test
    exceptions
    communication_failure = 1 message g_f_msg
    system_failure = 2 message g_f_msg
    invalid_instance_id = 3
    others = 4.
    then close the com session , using
    FM delete_com_instance
    FM END_COM_SESSION
    Thanks and regards,
    Sarada
