Data Mismatch: Plant level stock and Serial Number collection

Hi,
I am working with stock in SM.
I want the plant level stock and the serial number collection for the serialised material. The value coming for the plant stock is 20 (Eg. MATNR = 50004050) and the corresponding serial number collection is 27. But the values in plant stock and in the serial number collection should be one and the same.
For getting the plant stock I'm using the MARA and MARC table. For getting the serial number collection I'm using EQUI and EQBS table.
When I increase the stock using the transaction MB1C and movement type 561, I'm giving the serial numbers for the material. The issued serial numbers are coming in the serial number collection correctly but the stock at the plant level is not getting updated properly. Please let me know from where I can get same stock.

This could happen, if the status of serial number is wrongly updated to ESTO. From where are you taking serial numbers?Physically what is right the qty showing plant stock or the qty showing serial number? May be you go and check the history of the serial number to see if it is really available in stock.
Also it can be serial number is optional so though the stock is reduced but serial number is not captured while issuing so the stock at plant level is less but serial number is more,
If this is the case, reconciallation directly from tables will be difficult.

Set Article which control batch and serial number at component level

Dear experts,
I have some concern about set article as the requirement for sale set my company would like to control inventory at component level and at the component level we required to control batch and serial number.
So, when posting GR of sale set article system will auto split material to control inventory at component level with MVT 319 and in this step should possible to manual define serial number for component.
Example
Header Sale Set A (Activate valuation type)
Comp1 : B (Activate serial number and control serial number during GR ref PO , control Batch)
Comp2 : C (Control Batch)
GR : Header Sale Set A
Expected Solution : System should automatic to split to comp1 and comp2 , for Comp1 B will require to input serial number.
Fact : During testing, system auto split to comp1 and comp2 for comp1 I can input serial number but after save the serial number that I input are gone.
I 'm not sure that for set article can we control serial number at component level? If anyone have the expereince in this. Please help ?

Batch Number and Serial Number

Hello Sap gurus,
could you guys help me in understanding that in which scenarios (industry),we use the serial number and batch number.I know that in process industry we use the batch number(where shelf life is important) and in machine tools manufacturing company,electorinics parts manufacturing company, we use the serial number.Apart from this can you give me some examples and explain, where serial number and batch number gets used.

batch: when a quantity (Kg, Ltr...) in lumpsum need to be identified separately in inventory, then that material is batch managed
Advantage: each batch stock can be identified in Stores separately.
Dis-advantage: For every transaction of this material Batch as additional parameter is to be placed in SAP.
Serial Number: if you want to distinguish each Item (generally unit of measure will be EA, PC.. etc) in the inventory, then serial number will be used.
Advantage: we can track the movements of each serial number of material
Dis-advantage: every time, you need to place the serial nuber for every one quantity for movements.
Batch & Serial Number: both to-gether can also be used to maintain the group of items classified as Batch at the same time each item can be identified through serial number. please note that lot of data (Batch & serial numbers ) to be placed for each movment.
Batch: batch for material can be activated in Purchasing view / Plant data storage view of material master
Serial Number: separate serial number profile need to be created and placed at work scheduling view or plant data storage view of material master.

Maintain revison level at Material Serial Number

Any pointer on how can I maintain and track the revision level by Material Serial Number?
All SAP information I have seen is maintaining revision at Material master.

Thanks for responding. My understanding is that ECM only maintain revision level at Material Master but not at the Material Serial Number. If we use ECM, am I able to track revision level by serial number. I cannot find a revision data field in the Material Serial number record.
Currently, we create material master id with part-number/rev to track the revision at serial number record.

If i'm not wrong , as per my understanding you can't find the combination at sales order level , as serial no will come into picture in delivery level only .
so plz find some other way ,

I'm selling my iPhone 5 but I got asked by a potential buyer to provide him the EMEI and Serial Number of the phone. He said he wants to check if the phone is legit with Apple.
Is there a risk if I give that to him?

It is almost solving the issue but for the same model number there are multiple product_guids.Then how to come to know that is the exact Ibase.
The exact the requirement is
The user will send an excel file which consists of Model Number ,Serial Number and other Custom fields.
Depending on the Model and Serial Number we need to get an Ibase and Component.
then we need to update the existing ibase and component with custom fields.
So can you help me in updating the custom fields data from excel file to the existing Ibase.
Outline : Finding the Ibase and component
updation to the existing Ibase and component.

Equipmnet number and Serial number

Hi Gurus,
Here is my questions.
1. At what point we create the serial numbers? Do we create the serial numbers as master records or we create it by the time we take the order. (As a transactional data)
2. At what point we create the Equipment Master ? Do we create the Equipment master records as master records or we create it by the time we take the order. (As a transactional data)

In Most of the scenarios I have come accross, we create both equipment and serial number as master records.
This is because each serial number or a equipment has a unique physical entity behind it and this physical entity needs to be traced for its movements, availablity, usage history.
A very simple example is a truck. Each truck needs to have a serial number so that its location can be traced and see if its available for transporting materials.
Only time its used as transactional data when you need to generate labels for transporting dangreous goods.
So that each container or box has a unique number on its label and could be traced.

Exit and Serial number for MIGO transaction

Hello All,
I am facing an issue with MIGO transaction. I have to use FM 'ITOB_SERIALNO_READ_SINGLE', and for using this I want two values viz.. Material number and Serial Number..
I have Material number directly flowing but Serial Number is not present. As per my knowledge, To get serial number I can use two methods:
One is call FM 'GET_SERNOS_OF_DOCUMENT' where I need to Pass value of MBLNR to get the serial number. This MBLNR is not flowing in the code.
Second is directly fetch data from SER03 table and then OBJK table to get Serial Number. Here again we need MBLNR to fetch data from SER03 table which is not present.
I am using User Exit 'IQSM0007' for my purpose. I have checked other exits as well for MIGO where I can directly get Serial number generated but haven't got any.
Please revert if you know anything in this regard.

I have tried them already and want you to know that this BADI will trigger before document posting and not after that.
As of now I am coding like I am going to this BADI and importing internal table MSEG which has values to memory id. Then I am going to last BADI used for SERVICES and importing this table there. This last BADI triggers after the document is posted.
I am here since I want a better solution, if it is?

Batch Management and serial Number Management

Hi Friends,
I have a an issue.
We are using Batch management and serial number for few materials.
While selecting F4 for checking available batch numbers and serial numbers during issues , transfer posting,stock transfer etc.., system dispalys all Batches/Serial numbers which are created for that particular material. i.e all Batches and serial numbers irrespective of whether there are stocks available , whether they are cancelled/deleted will appear in the list
Our requirement is when F4 is selected system should list only live/existing batch numbers and serial numbers of that particular material.
Can any one help us

Can I download Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium on a new Mac if I've had it installed on my old one since December 2011? I have the product key and serial number.

I bought a new Macbook Pro 13 inch in December 2011 and I bought the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium shortly after and installed it on the computer. The other day my friend spilled his drink on my computer and it is now going to cost me $800 to get it fixed so I am considering getting a new one instead of getting mine fixed I'm not sure if the memory is still ok or not either. It didn't get that wet and Apple told me it is more than likely ok but there is no guarantee that they are going to keep the memory when they fix it. So I was wondering if I get a new one if I can install the Suite on the new one I still have the product key and serial number for the Suite. Or if I decide to get mine fixed and the memory is swept, then can I reinstall it on mine after it is fixed? If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank You

Goods Issue Stock with serial number to asset

Hi xperts,
When i GI a stock with serial number to asset (mvmt 241), the serial number is not updated in the asset master. I believe it's due to the asset number has been created before the GI. Is there any way (BADI or user exit) that would allow the serial number to be updated in the asset master after/during GI postings.

The serial number is not updated in the asset master & there is no user exit for updating the same . You need to maintain it manually in the Asset master through Tcode AS02. Then after that do the GI,then the serial number would get updated automatically when you manually enter Asset code under account assignment tab.
