I've lost cellular date network, all unopened important business emails and internet access on my Ipad 2 after 5.0 upgrade.  Received "Could not activate cellular date network"  - I have turned on and off, removed the sim and checked the APN is correct.  Can anyone help - struggling and need for my business.

I should point out that it worked when the iPhone was set back to factory settings, but when restored with the backup, data/internet no longer works again, and I get the "Could not activate cellular data network" error message yet again.

Verizon Chat advises pdf attachment non-download from AOL email is a software problem and directs me to Apple Support. I see "can't access cellular data network" in an instant before the file's icon is replaced by the file's name. In Inbox three emails in a row show there is an attachment. My iPad 3rd gen. runs 7.1.

You have Acrobat Pro on your system. It will try to open PDFs, and of course it will fail. You must uninstall it. Then, you will need a PDF reader. So install Adobe Reader. That seems quite simple, but perhaps something is wrong. If anything goes wrong with these two steps (1) uninstall Acrobat Pro (2) install Adobe Reader, then please let us know the details.

  • Why has my ipad lost connectivity to the AT&T cellular data network after upgrading to iOS 8.1.2?  My iPad is model #MD367LL/A, 32 GB WIFI + Cellular, about 2-1/2 years old.

Why has my ipad lost connectivity to the AT&T cellular data network after upgrading to iOS 8.1.2?  My iPad is model #MD367LL/A, 32 GB WIFI + Cellular, about 2-1/2 years old. It;s been working perfectly up until now.  I have no problem on my home WIFI, or through personal hotspot working through my iPhone 5.
I have worked with AT&T, replaced the SIM card with a new one, and done a backup/restore to factory settings, all with the same result that when I turn Cellular
Data on, with or without Enable LTE, it goes into "searching" mode, or reports "no service".  My iPhone 5 works perfectly on iOS 8.1.2, on Cellular.  I've browsed the blogs and have tried Apple's suggested fix, all to no result.
Oddly enough, every once in a while I do get connected to the network for a short ime (minutes), but it always returns to "searching".
I've filed a report with Apple, along with a request that they contact me, but no results yet.
    Help? (and thank you).

Hello razmee209.  Thank you for your response.  I spent the better part of yesterday working with Apple Support.  They tried their best, to include backing up photos to my HP laptop, backing up the iPad to iCloud, then resetting the iPad in total.  Same problem.  I restored from the cloud to recover my apps, same problem.
AT&T installed a new sim card - same problem.  I spent time with AT&T Support yesterday, too.  In both cases, (Apple and AT&T) the support techs who worked with me were extremely polite, courteous and helpful to the best of their abilities, but I think the problem lies deeper, and nobody at Apple is admitting they have a problem with iOS 8, that I'm aware of.
I didn't have this issue before I upgraded to iOS 8.1.2.
Everything else with the iPad works fine:  WIFI, Personal Hotspot, email, all my apps, etc.
In browsing the web for this issue I see that many other folks have the same problem.  I filed a report with Apple this morning, requesting that they contact me, but no word yet.  I was going to go to iPhone 6, and had been considering the iPad Air 2, but I see reports of this problem with those units as well.
At this point I don't think I'll be spending any more money with Apple, at least not till this issue is resolved.
Thanks again for your response and suggestions.

  • Data network not working unless i restart my 3g

i have an iphone 3g on chatr(owned by rogers)
my data service is active and i also have a voice plan. i had to input certain information in the cellular data network tab in the phone, which i did. every so often the data part of the phone will stop working and give me a message that it cannot connect to the internet and then sometimes it says that im not subscribed to a data network. i am though. i've called chatr and they have resent certain signals to my phone. i've done a hard reset(press and hold both buttons on phone til it goes black and even just turning the phone off) when i do turn the phone off the data will work but then after a while it will stop working again... chatr hasnt been much help at all. their site says the 3g is compatible with chatr and when i call they say sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. they registered my imei number, yet it still doesnt work. i have no idea what else to do. my phone is jailbroken on the 4.2.1 OS.i was told that jailbreaking the phone has nothing to do with this problem. i have no idea what to do. i cant keep turning my phone off and on to make the data work. any tips would be greatly appreciated.

My only suggestion is to post this in the iPhone forums, since this one is for older iPods.

  • I've lost my iphone with passcode lock and find my iphone lock on but the wifi n cellular data was turned off so no way i can trace it so the only question remains is will the person who finds it be able to unlock it and use it as his own ?

i've lost my iphone with passcode lock and find my iphone lock on but the wifi n cellular data was turned off so no way i can trace it so the only question remains is will the person who finds it be able to unlock it and use it as his own ?
is it possible to change imei number?
i've tried for so many times n still the phone is offline so i've set it to offline mode with my message but it never shows the last location why?

If the device is found, nobody can use it without knowing your Apple ID and password.
The phone will only show it's location if it is connected to cellular network or Wi-Fi. If those options are switched off, you can't locate the phone.
With iOS 7, Find My iPhone includes a new feature called Activation Lock, which is designed to prevent anyone else from using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch if you ever lose it. It starts working the moment you turn on Find My iPhone in iOS 7. With Activation Lock, your Apple ID and password will be required before anyone can:
Turn off Find My iPhone on your device
    Erase your device
    Reactivate and use your device
This can help you keep your device secure, even if it is in the wrong hands, and can improve your chances of recovering it. Even if you erase your device remotely, Activation Lock can continue to deter anyone from reactivating your device without your permission. All you need to do is keep Find My iPhone turned on, andremember your Apple ID and password.
What steps should I take if I misplace my device?
If you ever misplace your device—whether it’s just lost or you think it may have been stolen—you should put it into Lost Mode immediately using Find My iPhone.
Lost Mode locks your screen with a four-digit passcode and lets you display a custom message with your phone number to help you get it back. You can also remotely erase your device if needed, and your custom message will continue to display even after the device is erased.
While Activation Lock works in the background to make it more difficult for someone to use or sell your missing device, Lost Mode clearly indicates to anyone who finds your device that it still belongs to you and can’t be reactivated without your password.
To put a device into Lost Mode, sign in to icloud.com/find from a Mac or PC or use the Find My iPhone iOS app.
For more information, read what to do if your device is lost or stolen.

i have problem with Cellular data network it is not apearing in iphone setting so help me how to bring this option in iphone

What brand/model USB drive? Is it bus or AC powered?
    On Mail...
First Quit Mail, then I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
(Could be a different folder here if you chose such in Mail Prefs)
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

  • My iPad 2 won't connect 3G keeps saying cann not activate cellular data network?

My iPad 2 keeps saying could not activate cellular data network. Does anyone know how I can get it to connect to 3G? I have tried resetting and turning wifi off. Any suggestions?

I have had 4 iPhone 4S 3G on Verizon. I have never been able to activate by dialing *228. I could not activate via iCloud or iTunes, either. I went to the apple store. They had to do it. I could not set up a Yahoo email account yesterday on the latest device swapped. The Apple Store rep had to look up a workaround online. It's a CLOWN SHOW!

  • Where is the cellular data network settings menu?

Hello, i  cant find the cellular data network settings menu that appeared in iOS6 like this "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2283" on iOS7. I need to edit the APN so my iphone can connect to the network but i  cant find that menu, please help me!

    Hey,
The option Steve said works only with a few carriers/SIMcards, actually to this option be shown the SIMcard must have the APN edit enabled on itself, then once you insert the SIMcard the option will be shown.
If the option won't appear you can try to use the iPhone Configuration utility http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1466, or you can check with your carrier if there is any possibility of getting one of this enabled simcards.
    Rgds.

  • "Data network not found" message

I've had my phone for about 3 weeks now. Yesterday, I'm on the road and the phone will not pick up a data network signal. I figured it was just a bad area, but then I roamed all over Boston and could not pick up a data signal even though the bars were full. Went out of town and same problem. Later, I realized that I couldn't make or receive calls either. Finally, I turned off the phone then turned it back on, which fixed the phone call issue (and all these messages came up), but then I tried using Safari and the message came up again. What's more, once that message came up I couldn't make calls anymore either until I restarted the phone! Now I'm back in my apartment and it's as if nothing happened. What gives? I saw a post about resetting the network. Does this happen often to other people?

  • Cannot activate cellular data network (intermittent)

During the past couple weeks I've noticed the data connection on my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.3.4), particularly when moving across town, is unavailable. It's been fairly consistent in not being able to use the data connection and I've received errors saying the cellular network cannot be activated or that Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet. If I turn airplane mode on and then back off it lets me use the data network again.
I'm wondering if anyone else has been having this problem.
    Thanks

Is this an issue (or related) to the sim card issue?
Could be, but I'd first suggest restoring the phone, as you are now doing.

  • "could not activate cellular data network"

got a new iphone 6 and repeatedly having problems using cellular data after bringing the phone out of sleep, if I turn it off and back on again it seems to work fine but will have the same issue next time "could not activate cellular data network" Anyone else experiencing same problem or have suggestions ?

    Hello there, Krasea.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great recommendations for troubleshooting issues with cellular data connections with your iOS device:
iPhone: Troubleshooting a cellular data connection
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3780
Follow these steps for help troubleshooting cellular data issues on your iPhone. After performing each step, please test to see if the issue is resolved.
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
    Restart your iPhone.
Make sure that your software is up to date:
Check for a Carrier Settings Update: Tap Settings > General > About.
Check for an iOS Software Update: Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try turning it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still doesn't, contact your carrier to report the issue.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Restore the iPhone as new.
    Contact your carrier to:
Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.
Verify that there are no account-related blocks.
Find out if there are specific error messages in the carrier logs that could help determine why the issue is occurring.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Could not activate cellular data network fix

Im on an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.2 with StraightTalk and any time I attempt to connect to the internet with 3G it say "Could not activate cellular data network. You Are Not Subscibed." I need a fix for it! Please help!

This is not an uncommon problem apparently.
    Did you try dialing *22890?
How did you activate your iPhone (iTunes, iCloud, WalMart kiosk)?
Some on the StraightTalk forums report success by visiting a WalMart which is equipped with an activation kiosk and asking a qualified WalMart empolyee to activate the phone (be sure and back up any critical data before you do that since they will reset the phone).
Also, are you in the home area code of your phone? My iPhone 5 was set to not allow data roaming outside of my home network.  I am not sure if that means my area code or the StraightTalk network.  Either way, you can go to Settings>Cellular>Roaming and check to see if data roaming is turned on.  Be careful if you roam a lot, though as you might incur additional data charges.
    Hope this helps.

  • "Could not activate cellular data network" multiple times a day

Several times a day (up to 10 times/day) my phone says "Could not activate cellular data network" and this problem has been going on for about 2 weeks. Does anyone know how to help or troubleshoot it?

I was having the same problem with my factory unlocked phone. Try this it worked for me:
In Settings go to GENERAL-->NETWORK--> and turn off ENABLE 3G. I did this a week ago and I have not had an issue with dropped data since. Why does this work? I don't know.
BE AWARE THAT THE NEW 5.1.1 OS BY DEFAULT TURNS ON 3G EVERYTIME YOU RESTART YOUR PHONE, EVEN IF YOU TURN IT OFF MANUALY

  • "Could not activate cellular data network" message after ISO 4.1 update

I updated my iPhone yesterday just like millions of other people, but since the update was completed, I haven't been able to use the data network. Wi-Fi works without any problems, but when I've been out of the house yesterday and today, I haven't been able to establish any connection to the data network and have received the "Could not activate cellular data network" message each time. Is anyone else having this issue too? So much for a flawless update.

    Hi,
This happens to me everytime I do a f/w update but for me its for a simple reason and is easy to fix.
I am using a non iPhone Contract SIM in my iPhone and as such is does not like the default iPhone contract APNs for cellular data, hence the message. These reset when you do a f/w upgrade.
I have to go into Settings/General/Network/Cellular Data Network and set the APNs (for data and MMS) to ones given to me by my provider, in this case O2 UK for a non iPhone SIM/Contract - all is then well.
Perhaps you are in a similar situation ?? It shuold be easy to resolve by checking the APNs for your SIM against the ones in the iPhone itself. I found mine by Googling for iPhone O2 APNs. In fact in the end O2 published the setup on their website.
    Hope this helps.
