1) Thanks for moving me - I'm incredibly lost!
2) I have tried the "run as administrator" thing before. I just changed the UAC settings. And I tried installing the new driver. I don't know which part of those (either the change of UAC settings or the attempting to download/ install the new 64 bit driver). But now when I try to connect via IR, I get "Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application" on my Clie.
3) I was giddy at the thought of a new driver, but it's not working. I'm going to post that questions on that thread, I suppose.

ETA: I just undid the UAC settings and now my IR connection works again. My stuff still isn't showing up in Palm Desktop, but at least it *says* it's hotsyincing again via IR.

Has anyone had any success pasting a value into the timecode window? I can't seem to paste even itf I click it first and it turns blue. I can type it in, but I need to copy and paste values. There's a lot of them.

Unable to transfer contacts on palm desktop (windows) to ipod nano

My friend has a PC with all her contacts within Palm desktop. She now wants to transfer the contacts into her iPod nano. I am lost! It is my understanding that a vcard needs to be created, but I am unsure how to do this on the PC. Can anyone assist?

Date not making it to MySQL DB

I just added the Date Picker to my Insert and Update forms and they show up on pages like this:

<br />And the date picker looks pretty good but it never makes it to the database and I get 0000-00-00 instead. My table row 'dateAvailable' is set as a DATE type. Which is correct, I would think. So are there any extra steps to get the date to make it from the picker to the DB?

I figured out the problem. I was looking at the wrong place in the code. I had the field set up in the AddColumn area as a STRING_TYPE when in fact it should've been a DATE_TYPE.

Copy Customized ShortCut into users Desktop - Windows 7

I have customized a shortcut and a new icon (its in house web application that we want to force the users to use chrome).
The shortcut is pointing to something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" https://www.xyz.com/en/classic/login/login
How can I copy the .lnk file to desktop of all Windows 7 users, I have placed the .ico file in the shared network folder.

There are a number of ways, but basically you can just create a shortcut on
your desktop to upload to the server or to a shared location, then copy that
..lnk file down to the folder "${CommonDesktop}" on the workstations.

There was a change in my desktop drag and drop post Lion update! Cannot drag or download to the desktop per se. It has to go into the desktop window in the finder now?

It is odd: pre update (the latest) I could download to my literal desktop, or drag and drop a photo from iPhoto, an mp3 to mail later from iTunes.....Now I can only do that from within the finder in the "desktop" window. In other words: If I download (I prefer to download onto my desktop rather than the download folder-window. Rereading this question which I wrote after a long night makes me dizzy....But I don't know how to express it differently...I have lost my contol of the desktop you see on my iMac screen with all desktop responsibilities now only available via the finder window entitled "desktop".

How to keep data that is in Palm Desktop

I have more than 10 years of data in Palm Dekstop and my Palm Vx. The Palm Vx is getting pretty shaky. What options to I have to replace it without losing my data?

You can replace the handheld with another model and when you do you will need to change the hotsync conduits to desktop overwrites handheld and then sync your data. Before you sync I would suggest the procedure below for backing up your data. This procedure will not export any categories you have setup in Palm desktop.
The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each component in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.

Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.

Palm Desktop is sychronizing With Palm Z22 but no Data is transferred?

I have typed all my contacts and calendar events into the palm desk top .The palm and desk top says that they are sychronizing but no data has been transferd.I've tried all of the conduit settings with no luck! Was able to transfer 1 contact data record from the palm to the desk top. I'm using windows 2000 pro,

It looks like you may have a bad installation of palm desktop and will need to re-install the program. Is all your data on the device as well as in palm desktop? Here is a procedure to backup the data from palm desktop.
The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each

Not Hot Syncing w/Mac OS X 10.5.2 and Palm Z22, Palm Desktop 4.2.2

I tried double clicking the Hot Sync application, but it will not enable at system setup Error msg: "Could not create auto launch entry to enable HotSync at startup". Otherwise, Hot Sync Manager tells me that it is enabled, I selected it. Yet nothing is hot syncing. I entered some data into palm destop, and I don't see it on my handheld. Are all of these components compatible?

Ok. So I successfully hot synced, or so I thought. I disabled the hot sync, and then when I tried to re-enable it said that transport manager, and then conduit manager were not in the same folder, so that's why it wouldn't work. I gave up trying to have the hot sync manager in an easy location (ie. on my desktop), and deleted the icons. Then I tried again, but the step I was missing each time was hitting hot sync on my handheld! I haven't use a palm pilot in a looong time. The first hot sync was interrupted and incomplete, the 2nd one seemed to work. Only problem is, the data I entered in the datebook of Palm Desktop doesn't appear on my handheld. THat's precisely what I want to hot sync, much easier to do it on the comp. than manually on my handheld. Help? Does it make a difference that my computer is not registering a new device?

Dat and bak files for Palm Desktop 4.1.4

I have been using palm desktop 4.1.4. as a result of a virus I had to reinstall Windows and start over. I put my .dat files in the right directory but palm desktop does not recognize them. What do I do to get the desktop to recognize my dat files? Also, what good are .bak files? I have not found a way to use them in the desltop program.

You would re-install Palm DT 4.1.4, then rename the .dat file to .old in each folder Datebook, Calendar, Too do's, and Memos under your user name in C:\Program Files\Palm\ [your Palm user name (similar)] . Then put the .dat file you have saved from your original install folders in each new respective folder. Then you should be able to view your data under the user name you placed it under.

Manual Layout data not saving to trx cube

Hello BPS Experts,
I am trying to load some data using manual planning. I open the layout and enter the values and press save. I do not find any requests / data in the cube.
case 1) No error / warning
I do not get any error during the save function in the layout. What could be the possible step I am missing. What could be the root cause..
case 2) message - No data to be saved
sometimes i get a message 'No data to be saved'. And that data is not getting saved. What could be the reason of this message.

Hello BWer,
One of the main reasons for data not saving from a layout into a Trx cube, is if there is no key figure being updated. The value of the key figure being posted should <> 0.
If you choose the option to display transaction data in your layout, then, only data with key figure values <> 0 will be displayed.

Palm Desktop seems to back up only select data from Treo 650

I recently transferred my Palm Desktop program and backup files from my old XP PC to my new PC running Windows 7 (64bit). Aside from the frustrations of being unable to HotSync using USB, I was more concerned that that address & calendar files in my user folder were nearly empty.   My calendar contained 14 random events from within the last month and the address book contained three contacts (my Treo contains hundreds). Each folder should have contained considerably more data. I went back to the original user folder on my old PC and the saved data was no different. Although hundreds of events & contacts appear on my Treo and in the Palm Desktop, my user file has less than 1MB of data in those respective folders.
Can I conclude that my monthly HotSyncs have been faulty all of this time? Or am I looking in the wrong place for my complete data. Until I find a workaround the Windows 7 problem, I want to make sure all my data is at least present on the hard-drive (even though I can't HotSync).
FYI, this is where I found my skimpy data:   C:/Palm OS Desktop/(username)/address   and   C:/Palm OS Desktop/(username)/datebook     .   The Palm Desktop is Version 6.2.2

An update to the above issue:   All of the datebook & address data IS present within the *.aba files within my user folder when opened via Microsoft Access. However, when I import those files into Palm Desktop, only a small handful of events (28 out 5000+) and addresses (3 out 1000+) appear.

Month view off "Date" app on Palm Desktop by ACCESS 6.2.2

I have Windows XP (Home) with Palm Desktop by ACCESS 6.2.2.
I also have a Palm Z22 and a HP TouchPad.
My problem is with the Palm Desktop. In the "Date" application it will not display the Month view. There is no problem with the Day or Week view, but when I click on the Month view,
a screen pops up that says "Application has encountered a problem and needs to close".
It then says "Send report" or "Don't send".
After clicking on either of these, the Palm Desktop window closes.
I do not know where to retrieve the "Send Report" information if it has been sent.
Any help would be appreciated as the Month view is very helpful when planning future appointments or activities.

How to reinstall Palm desktop for Windows without losing all my desktop data

I use a Palm T|X and Windows XP Pro. I was using Palm Desktop 4.x but decided to upgrade to the latest version. 6.2.2. I have had a lot of problems since then, HotSync does not work properly with CalorieKing and Palm Desktop complains about "switching users" each time I try to open Contacts.
I want to uninstall Palm Desktop 6.x and reinstall Palm Desktop 4.x. I know that my data will be safe if after the new install I tell HotSYnc to have the handheld overright the deaktop. However, what about the programs? Will they also get transferred from the Palm back to the desktop? Will the conduits be set up correctly for Documents to Go, CalorieKing and my other applications, or will I have to reinstall them?

The programs are still in place, but how does the "new" copy of Palm desktop know they are there? Also, there are copies of the programs that are installed only on the Palm but not the Windows machines in one of the Palm desktop folders that use used to restore data to the Palm T|X. How do I save that data, without having to install all those programs yet again, even though they already exist on the palm?.
