Data objects supported in the BPM Process Composer by Activity ?

Hi,
In BPMN 2.0 normalization, data objects are artefacts which show the reader which data is required or produced in an activity.
How is the data objects supported in the BPM Process Composer?
Thanks,
Grégoire.

Select the activity and then select the Data Associations button. You can associate existing data objects and create new ones.

    Hello All,
    I have a simple business process with two ui activities. I am able to start the process from NWA -> Process Repository.
    But, I need to start the process from the application. Here is the requirement:
    User opens the application. ON completion, the BPM process for approval needs to be triggered. How do i access/obtain process?
    If I need to call a particular task in process, How do i do that?

  • How to invoke an other BPM asynchronous process from the BPM process

    Do anyone know how to invoke other asynchronous process from the BPM process without using the Web Service URL?

    Try using a Service task implemented as a Process Call. Then you select the process you want to call, set the associations or transformation and deploy it to test.
    I hope it works for you.

  • Problem in getting the Date object based on the TimeZone

    Hi,
    I need to create a Date object that holds the time of the specified TimeZone.
    I am using TimeZone and Calendar object for that, but when I call the Calendar object's getTime() method, it returns
    a Date object that holds the local time.
    Can somebody let me know what why?
    Here is what I uses in my code.
    TimeZone tz = TimeZone.getTimeZone("IST");
    Calendar cal = new GregorianCalendar(tz);
    System.out.println("Date of "IST" TimeZone = " + cal.getTime());
    Instead of cal.getTime, if I do the following I am getting the values correctly.
    int month = cal.get(Calendar.MONTH); // 0..11
    int day = cal.get(Calendar.DATE); // 0..11
    int hour12 = cal.get(Calendar.HOUR); // 0..11
    int minutes = cal.get(Calendar.MINUTE); // 0..59
    Can somebody let me know why I am not able to assign the Date of the TimeZone specified.
    Is there anything wrong with the code?
    Seb

    Is there anything wrong with the code?No, only with your understanding of the Date class. From the API:
    The class Date represents a specific instant in time, with millisecond precision.
    The different time displayed for different TimeZones around the world are just that: a display format for the same instant in time.
    To display the "instant in time" in a different TimeZone, use DateFormat. Here's a small sample:TimeZone tz = TimeZone.getTimeZone ("GMT");
    Calendar c = Calendar.getInstance (tz);
    System.out.println(c.getTime ()); // prints Tue Mar 18 02:56:53 IST 2008
    DateFormat dtf = DateFormat.getTimeInstance ();
    dtf.setTimeZone (tz);
    System.out.println(dtf.format (c.getTime ())); // prints 9:26:53 PMIt's no different from formatting the same number in various ways: 10 decimal == 0xA hexadecimal == 012 octal == 1010 binary. Same value, different representation. Same intant in time, different local time for each zone.
    Savvy?
    cheers, db

  • Scope of the BPM Process variables

    Hi All,
    What is the scope of the process variables in a BPM Process?
    I had defined couple of process variables in my BPM process and observed that whenever i go into a Human Task activity and come back to the BPM process all my process variables values are back to null. Is this the expected behavior or am i missing some thing?

  • Users added to a Task AFTER the BPM process has started

    Does anyone know of a way to assign users to a task AFTER the BPM process has started?

    Hi Craig,
    whenever a Task Instance gets created, the assigned roles and groups are resolved into individual users. This means that changes to the roles and groups do not affect existing Task Instances.Then the only way to assign additional users is via "nominate" operation from the NWA or "delegate" from the Task UI. Such changes in the roles and groups will only take affect for newly created Task Instances.
    Hope this helps.

  • Delete all instance for the BPM process

    How can I delete all instances or specific instance of the BPM Process except redeploy the process and unchecked the keep all instance option??

    Hi
    Just a small correction. When you ReDeploy Workflow SCA file and Uncheck the option to keep running instances, if I am not wrong, all OLD instances are NOT deleted. They just become STALE (change the status). BUT these instances are still there in the Database but not show up in the Worklist/Workspace app. You may see these Tasks but you CANNOT open them and it says like Task Details Not Found etc.
    But if your intention is to delete the instances permanently, then see the earlier post on how to delete from EM. This will take care of permanently deleting.
    Thanks

  • Message Monitoring for each within the BPM process

    I have a question concerning message monitoring within a BPM process.  I receive an IDOC into my BPM process.  I then have three transformation steps before sending an E-mail to the end receiver.  When I look at the messages in the workflow log, I am unable to see the message after each transformation step.  In the log display if I click the instance ID for all steps except the first step I am unable to see a message.

    If I click all except the first instance I receive the following message:
    No messages available for selection
    Message no. XMS_ADM113
    Is there a way to make the message persistent after each step within the process?  I would like to see the data after each step in the workflow log. Is this possible?
    I do receive the e-mail from the send step so I know that it's completing the process.  What I'm not sure of is if each step individually processed the data as I expected.

  • Can we call an Standard API from the BPM process

    Hi,
    Can we call a Public API from within a BPM Process. Can you please suggest the procedure for achieving the same.
    Also wanted to know the procedure to insert into Standard Interface tables and called Standard Interface program to Create objects like Employees, Employee assignments, etc.
    Please send any documents / writeup to achieve the above.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Murali

    You will have to catalog the API (refer to the Studio help files for the details). Once you catalog the api you can use it in a method. The method can then be used in an activity in the process.

  • How to Terminate the BPM Process instance

    Hi,
    If I have an instance of bpm process which fault at the database service task, I want to manually terminate or suspend it. I tried to do it in the workspace as an bpm administrator, however, since the instance pass the human task already, so that i can't suspend the instance. On the enterprise manager console, I don't see any way to terminate one instance. Please advise and it is so important and urgent for me, since our bpm project already on prodction, we have to fix it as soon as possible. Thanks in advance

    I'm thinking you're asking what you can do with an instance that has an uncaught exception and not how to have modeled it so they can be properly handled. If you're not catching the exception, in any of the 7 techniques listed below - you're kind of stuck.
    If you have a service task and you'd like to handle the exception (manually or other), you have the choices listed below. If you are using none of these, then you're allowing the BPMN engine to handle the exception and about all you can do is to delete the instance in Enterprise Manager.
    1) You could add a catch error event to the boundary of the Service task and have that event designated to handle the exception thrown. From the boundary event, you might have a sequence flow to an Interactive activity that lets you hande the exception. Once handled, the instance can continue on with the process.
    2) You could add an event subprocess in the same process as the Service activity that has a start error event and have that event designated to handle the exception thrown. From the event subprocess, you might have a sequence flow to an Interactive activity that lets you hande the exception. The difference between this scenario and the first is that the instance in the process has to terminate in the end event in the event subprocess.
    3) If your process is invoked as an embedded subprocess, you could add a boundary event (1 above) or catch it in an event subprocess (2 above).
    4) If your process is a reusable process invoked from a parent process using a Call activity, if the exception isn't caught inside the called subprocess you could add a boundary event to the Call activity in the parent process. This is similiar to 1 above and you'd need a sequence flow comingin out of the boundary catch error event on the Call activity to go somewhere in the process to handle the exception.
    5) If your process is a reusable process invoked from a parent process using a Call activity, if the exception isn't caught inside the called subprocess and it is not caught by a boundary error event on the parent's call activity then you could add an event subprocess in the parent process that has a start error event and have that event designated to handle the exception thrown inside the child process.
    6) There is a way to handle exceptions thrown inside a peer process but I'm guessing that might be too much for this post.
    7) You can handle exceptions using a Policy outside of the processes. Rather than using the above to handle exceptions, you could use policy based exception handling where you give the policy the different types of faults you want to catch and if you want to retry, let it be handled by someone in Enterprise Manager and if you just want to abort the instance.
    If the exception is not caught, then you're in the scenario you're in now and the BPMN engine is where it is unfortunately caught. Although you can see it, it is a non-recoverable exception and about all you can do is delete the instance in Enterprise Manager.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • How to organize the context object through out the application process

    Hi,
    Here in my application is using the following steps for a process.
    - Login
    - Search
    - Update
    - Logout
    In those above steps, Login, Search, and Update actions are touching to database/LDAP every time. In each time, Im creating new Context object, I think this is a bad approach. When I hit the login, I need to get the connection object and use that for rest of the actions(search and update).
    So can we organize the single context object through out the application? And where do we need to close the Context object?

    Don't worry about it. The provider will reuse connections behind the scenes. They're not tied directly to Contexts.

  • Can data be purged without the archiving process in BW system?

    Dear all,
    can anybody give me some comments on the data purging process?  After checking some materials about BI data archiving,  I am wondering:
    if data can be purged skipping the archiving process?  As long as no requests to retain the historical data, it should be good for performance reason to purge some useless data.
    My doubt to this question is:
    1. Will there be any inconsistency if we do the data purging manually without instruction of SAP standard process?
    2. Will there be any particular issues for DSO and Cube data purging?  Since there should be some business related dependencies.
    It would be highly appreciated for sharing the best practice in data purging or archiving in BW system!
    thanks in advance!
    Jennifer

    Hi,
    as others are pointing you should never delete data with other means than SAP standard procedures (request, selective, archiving....); in other words, do not delete data directly from the the BW DB tables!! This would definitively lead to big troubles... I am not sure what you mean exactly by "manually"...
    Deleting data (purging and or archiving) should always been considered carfully:
    - is the cube/dso a source of data for other targets (datamart)? If this is the case then the deletion should be carefully analyzed
    - for DSO/ODS it is particularly important to ensure that the keys of the records to be deleted will never be loaded again in the DSO; because of the overwrtie capabilities for these containers, this situation will obviously lead to incorrect data posted in subsequent targets
    Currently we've never used the archiving functionalities of BW... We monitor closely the data genererated by BW itself in datamart scenarios (PSA in between providers can grow very fast) and have implemented a customized process for that since it wasn't possible to archive PSA in BW3x....
    Most of the data stored in our providers are still used by our consummers (six years of data, some 3TB) and we use the logical partitionning extensively on the calendar year; this enable us to "move" "old" data to less expensive storage line.
    hope this helps....
    Olivier.

  • In what situation i can go for the BPM process?

    hai pals,
         i wld like know in what kind of situation we will go for an BPM process for message transfer.
    with regards,
    rajesh.

    Hi Rajesh,
       BPM process is a very useful tool as the name suggest ccBPM when ever you want to model your soultion hitting different systems, Also helps in controling and  monitoring complex integration solution process.
        As it uses SAP workflow engine behind it is very effective in building complex soultion.
        some simple scenarios could be
         Wait for more than one input and start your integration process..
         Raising alerts, exceptions and so on...

  • Working with array variables defined in the BPM process

    Hello,
    I have created an array variable in my process. This array was created based on a custom type that contains 2 strings variables.
    How can I set/get and add new items to this array variable using java code?
    The only thing I know is that, if this was a simple variable I would do something like this:
    DCBindingContainer bc = (DCBindingContainer)FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().evaluateExpressionGet(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(), "#{bindings}", BindingContainer.class);
    JUCtrlAttrsBinding dc = (JUCtrlAttrsBinding) bc.findNamedObject("myVar");
InputValue("theValue".toString());
    thank you

    Hi
    I've been working on TZ's recently... see this post:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12474756/how-check-daylight-saving-within-uccx-script
    My approach in the scripts was that basically I allow the department to set their opening hours in the timezone of their choice.
    They have a management web page served from CCX that accepts start/end times each day, and a timezone. That all gets stored in XML.
    In the script, based on that information I get the current time in whatever timezone is set, and compare that to the XML open/close times.
    Similarly for holidays, I get the current date/time in the holiday TZ and compare the holidays to that.
