Data overwrite in Master data

Hi,
I'm loading data for master data for InfoObject X (with attributes A,B,C and D) from 3 non-sap sources. I had these questions. The key field here is infoobject X itself:
1) Will the data gets overwritten, if same keyfield come from two source systems?
2) I'm thinking of incorporating 0SOURSYSTEM as one of the attribute as well to avoid such a situation, so should I also make 0SOURSYSTEM as the key field?

Yes, Parth Kulkarni is right. You just need to check checkbox "Master data locally for source sys." and 0SOURSYSTEM should automatically be written in the compound table.
But be sure 0SOURSYSTEM is really what you want. And be sure that there is a mapping for this existing. Therefore go to RSA1 -> Tools -> Asgnmt of Srce Syst. to Src Syst ID

  • Overwrite in Master data

    Hi All.
I have an InfoObject which I want to overwrite its data. I recently modified the update rules and want to fill some of its attributes. I used Direct upload since it is master data. I created a Full load but there is an error of Duplicate records. I know there would be duplicate records, I just want to update its master data. I then created a new InfoPackage with Processing mode Only to PSA and marked Update Subsequently in Data Targets + Ignore Double data records. The full load did not encounter an error, but it only updated 1 record out of 5000 in the master data. Can u help me?

    Hi Prakash,
Yes, the InfoObject already contains data. The InfoObject is 0GN_VENDOR, it only contains data for the Vendor number. I recently modified it to become a Direct Update from 80VENDORM datasource (0VENDOR). Created a Full load but it does not overwrite the existing data. It ignores it completely.
My other option which I know works, is to create a Flexible InfoSource from 0VENDOR to 0GN_VENDOR. I am just wondering why Direct update does not work the same way.

  • Master data should not overwrite

    Hi
How is it possible to avoid overwriting of master data.
Custom datasource is created to extract multiple records for a single account with different attribute pin values. Problem is in BW where the multiple records become one. Can this be overcome.

    Hi,
master data functionality cant be changed because there will be no master data with duplicate records, main info object acts as primary key, as per data base functionality primary key cant holds duplicate records,
if you want to store that duplicate values use ODS in place of info object and make ODS additive from over write.
    assign points if it helps,
    thanks,
    pavan.

  • Data load issue with Master infoobject

    Hi Sdns,
I have master infoobject and it has a list of time independent attributes. I have successfully loaded the dato to this master infoobject. This master infoobject is being used as a attribute  in some infoobjects  and as a infoobject in infocubes and DSO's.
Now the requirement is changed and few  attributes of the master infoobject become  time dependent.when i have tried to delete the data in the master info object, some amount data i have deleted and am unable to delete remaining data.
is it necessary to delete the data from all the infoproviders before deleting the data from master infoobject when the change is happened in its attributes.
    Advance thanks
    karunakar

I guess no need to delete the master data for this change! ... if you want to uncheck the time dependent we must delete data
But you can tick time dependent for the MD obj. and activate it... it will tell you for the deletion of data is necessary or not
After this action you will see Date to and Date from in the transformations.. you can map them and do the load. .. it will overwrite the master data object

  • Incorrect Master Data Issue

    Hi
We have incorrect master data in 0CUST_SALE object. It is due to some of the enhancements done in the Update/transfer rules. Because of this, we have extra records in BW. Like 110 record for actual 10 records. We are unable to delete the master data as there are transaction data already present.
We have identified the root cause, why this has happened. Has anyone faced similar issue before and how is it being fixed?
    Jith

    Hi Jith:
Why do you think the master data is incorrect because there are 110 records for 10 master data records?
0CUST_SALES is Customer compounded to Sales Area. For each customer sales area combination there can be a record in that table.
Sales Area is Division / Dist Channel / Sales Org. The number of combinations of customer compounded to sales area can be many for a single customer as there can be many divisions many dist channels and many sales orgs.
Are you sure the master data is incorrect? I don't know of a way to delete master data without deleting transactional data that uses that master data.
Only thing you can do is to overwrite those master data records.
    Hope you find a solution.
    Good Luck.
    MP.

  • Problem deleting Master Data from an InfoObject

    Hello Everyone,
We have 0MATERIAL infoobject. There was no Master data in the infoobject. Then, i manually entered the data into the InfoObject. After a day, i tried to delete the Master data to load it from R/3. When i tried to delete the Master data from the InfoObject, it shows errors and does not allow me to delete the data. Say, i entered 2 into material column of a record, the error appears like 'Master Data 0000002' (SID   25) is being used in /BI0/DOSH21' and cannot be deleted'. could someone please help me with this. This is a bit urgent. Let me know if you need more information.
    Thanks.

    Hi Sachin:
Your only hope is if R/3 has the Correct Master Data, it will overwrite your Master Data. But remember for this, the KEYS have to be same because the KEYS can never be deleted in your case.
E.g., MATERIAL, LOC (is an attribute)
    You inserted:
            000000002, TEXAS
If, in R/3 there is infact a material with  key 000000002, FLORIDA. THis will overwrite your Record.
If R/3 doesn't have 000000002, there is not much you can do now.

  • Master data hierarchy

    Hi gurus
pl tell me if we do the Master data hierarchy full load again , will it going to overwrite the master data or will add up the data in master data table?
    thanks
    Taj

    Hi Taj,
This is just similar to the way other master data, i.e. Attr and Texts are laoded. If you have the Text for MAT001 in the system, and you reload for the same material, the old value will be replaced with the new one (unless you are using time dependant texts and the date range is different).

  • Saving rights and date format in Forms - Acrobat Professional 8

    Hi Forum,
I have designed a form for a client in Acrobat 8 Professional, and enabled viewing rights in Reader. There will be a lot of people using this form that are not in any way computer literate, and the client has requested that I do the following:
    1. I have set up the date format (in a date-of-birth field) to dd/mm/yy, limited to 8 characters, and a Tool-tip explaining how the date must be written. However, if you enter the date by mistake as 01/01/2001, it will be allowed, and appear as 01/01/20 (instead of coming up with an error message saying the 20 is wrong and it should be 01). I understand that to the form, there's nothing wrong with this date, but is there any way I can get a pop-up box to appear if either '19' or '20' appears as the year, and indicate to the form-filler that they should check what they've entered?
    2. They want the user, when the document is opened in Reader, to NOT be allowed the 'Save' feature, but only allow them to 'Save AS', so as not to overwrite the master document, which will be stored in a folder. The information in these forms are of a sensitive nature, so they don't want it getting saved by accident into the master document for anyone to see.
I would be delighted if you were able to give me any ideas on the above.
    Kind regards,
    Liz

For #1, you can, but it would involve some custom JavaScript programming to replace what Acrobat uses as the Keystroke/Format scripts.
For #2, you cannot set up the document or Acrobat (Reader) to prevent a Save but allow a Save As. The best way to do what you want is to set up the appropriate file permissions using the OS's file system to prevent users from changing the file. A quick & dirty way is to simply set the file to read-only, but this is often easy for a user to undo.

  • Collecting data from two R3 source systems

    Dear All,
    Scenario:
We are in the process of implementing SAP BI 7.0 in our organisation.
We have a single BI server (7.01) collecting data from two source
systems from two different divisions within the group.
The first system is of Company 1 where we have IS u2013 MILL (ECC 6.0).
BI has been implemented and running successfully in this unit. Now we
have started implementing BI in the second unit u2018Company 2u2019
where the industry specific solution IS u2013 AFS (ECC 6.0) is the source
    system.
We are activating BI Standard Content for AFS. When we try to upload
master data, we face a problem.
The master data (0Division, 0Mat_Grp_3, etc.) is already loaded with
IS Mill data (data from the first source system). Now when the data is
loaded from IS AFS (second source system), wherever, the same key
exists in the info object, we notice that the existing data is
overwritten by the freshly loaded data, thus causing loss of existing
    data.
A typical example is as follows:
BW Data u2013 Source system 1 u2013 (Before upload of data from source system
    2):
    0Division
    99         EN          Stock Transfer Out
AFS Data (Source system 2) -
    0Division
    99         EN             STO
BW Data u2013 Source system 1 u2013 (After upload of data from source system 2):
After uploading the master data from AFS, the Values areu2026
    0Division
    99        EN            STO
    The original data is lost.
Similar problem is noticed with other master data as well.
Please suggest the right methodology for upload of master data when
data to BW is sourced from two systems. How to retain the data in the
same Infoobject but at the same time maintain distinction between the
    data from the two systems.
We donu2019t find any specific mention of such scenarios in the standard
    documentation.
Will such a problem recur when we upload transactional data?
    Regards,
    Aslam Khan

    Hi Aslam,
Please use some compounding attribute for your master data object like Sourcesystem ID.  While loading the master data from different source systems... you should have two different flows to fill the same master data object.  In each flow you can specify the Source system ID as constant value ... eg SS1 (Source system 1)  and SS2(Source system 2) in each of the data flows.   This should solve your issue without overwriting your master data
    Thanks

  • Custom Master page

how to apply  custom master page site setting page in sharepoint2007 it's passible or not.

    Hello,
Since layout page inherited from application.master page so your custom master page won't apply to settings page. You can use HHTPmodule to overwrite that master page:
    http://stephenkaye.blogspot.in/2008/03/how-to-customise-applicationmaster-file.html
    http://nikpatel.net/2009/12/20/moss-2007-implementing-the-custom-application-master-page-using-httpmodule/
If you just want to change the color of links then you can also try with different theme.
    Hope it could help

  • Overwrite data of master data infoobject

    Hi all,
We have one master data infoobject ZASRYHMA. This infoobject does not have any attrbiutes but it has two compounding fields ZSITE and 0DISTR_CHAN.
Now customer has a requirement in which value of ZASRYHMA can change for a particular site and distribution channel. Generally if this value changes then system creates a new entry in tables /bic/pzasryhma and /bic/szasryhma.
What they want is to overwrite the existing entry.
Is it possible to achieve?  It's a master data infoobject.
    Please provide your kind help.
    Regards,
    Nilima Rodrigues

    Hi,
You have three fields as key field in table as shown below along with values,
    ZASRYHMA     ZSITE         0DISTR_CHAN
    A-1                     B-1            C-1
    A-2                     B-2            C-2
now if you want to change the value of say second row to
    A-3                    B-2             C-2
    right?
This is not possible just by overwritting in the info-object master data. Because these are key-fields system will treat A-3 as new value and create new entry, on top of this your A-2 master data values must have been used in transactional data.
Only way I can think of is to delete the transactional data where ever A-2 is used and then delete ZASRYHMA master data and then upload master data for ZASRYHMA with new values. And then transacional data.

  • Purpose of Update/Overwrite Hierarchy in Import master data package

    Hi All,
Please let me know what is the difference in update and overwrite option in import master data package. Here when i tried running the package, both the option are altering the hierarchy of existing member.
My requirement is just to add a new member ID, if it already exist it should not affect those records and only update the new master data records.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ramanathan

    Hi Ramanathan,
You can run Import Master Data DM package in BPC to perform delta master data load. While you run DM package you get option to load Master Data from BW/BI where you can select:
    1. MERGE: this will keep old data intact and also load new master data, and
    2. COPY and REPLACE: This will copy new data and delete old master data.
As per your requirement, you need to select the First option. If you select Update option then it will not delete old master data, instead update the members and hierarchy according to the parent-children design which you would have given in the dimension membersheet.
Hope this corresponds to your requirement.
    Rgds,
    Poonam

  • Master data load overwrite / add ?

    Hello BW Experts,
Where: loading master data using infopackage.
    1) Do we have the option of overwriting / adding to the master data ?
    2) What do these options mean.
    3) Where to make these settings in BW in the infopackage.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    BWer

    Hi,
Master data is overwritten in BW.
If you are loading MD directly then you can't have the option of adding , it'll be overwritten.
Adding is usually used in case of transaction data, where it'll add to the existing values for the same key. In overwrite, it'll overwrite the record completely with the new values.
You have to make these settings at the object level, not at the info package level.
    Cheers,
    Kedar

  • Update and Overwrite Option in Import Master Data Package

    Hello,
In the package Import Master Data there is the option "Select method for loading master data". I don't understand very well what is the difference between the "Update" and "Overwrite" option. I have tested both and I get the same result.
Can someone explain to me what is the difference between both options ?
    Thanks,
    Mathieu

Option overwrite: all properties are overwritten. If they are not maintained in the source file, they will be deleted in the member sheet
Option update: only the properties maintained in the source file are overwritten. The other ones are not changed.

  • Master data is getting overwrite with delta load

    Hi,
We have an issue like some some asset numbers are showing blank for wbs elemnts. So we did Full repair Request. So pblm is solved. But after daily delta loads it is getting over write and again asset numbers are blank..please let me know any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Baanu

Ok, so your problem in the source-system itself. Since the update mode for master data is overwrite, when these records with blank fields are loaded they will replace the existing values and you will have blank values in your master data.
Check whether the data is available in the tables in the Source-system. If you have made any enhancements to the DataSource using exits, check the code for the exit and try to find out if the data is being changed by the code.
If there are no enhancements, check whether the master data is being properly maintained in the source system.
