Data packs?

All of the smart phones say require data pack but does not clarify which data pack they all require. Can you get any data pack on any of the smart phones?

which phones require the 10 dollar one?
Thanks to community members for their helpful input. Adding to what was stated, you can select from any of the available data plans available based on the amount of data you wish to use. While the data plans start at $29.99 for 2 Gigabytes, you are free to choose a data plans that more closely match your intended usage. Here is a link for more information on our data plans and help on picking the data plan that best meets your individual needs.
The current featured phone we have available that device requires a data plan is the LG evN Touch. The $10.00 data plan has a 75 megabyte monthly allowance. The other basic phones have the option for selecting the pay as you go option of $1.99 per megabyte or selecting a data plan at the time of purchase. Here is another link to the basic phones we currently offer at our website. Just enter your zip code to be taken to the screen of the phone selection display. I hope this helps

  • Is it mandatory to purchase the $29.97/month data pack with a new smartphone?

I'm wondering, if I'm buying a smartphone (this one is a 3G smartphone) and don't want to use the internet or email on it for the first several months, can I just buy the $29.97/month data package at a later date in order to save money now?   Or am I forced to buy the data package now with the phone in order to get the discount price listed for the phone?
I'm wondering because it says "data plan required" next to the phone.   But what if you don't want internet or email right away?

  • How can I cancel a data pack?

Now that Extra Data is available, you can no longer add or change your data pack, you can only remove it. You can remove your data pack via your mobile device, through My Account or by chatting to one of our agents online.
How to cancel your data pack from your mobile
Connect to My Plan Manager portal by typing telstra.com/mpm into your mobile's browser
Click on the 'My tab' at the top of the screen to see information on My Plan Manager
Select 'My Data Usage' then 'Data Packs' and select ‘cancel your Data Pack‘.
If you need any further assistance with your data pack you can chat with us online.
How to cancel your data pack via My Account
    Log into My Account
Select Plans & usage for your mobile service
Select Buy add-ons then ‘Remove your data pack’
Once you cancel your Data Pack you will not be able to buy another one. If you need more data you can find out more about Extra Data.

Re: How can I add, change or cancel a data pack?
This information says that you can downgrade your data pack online but you CANT!!! I do not want to spend hours watching my phone in order to have a 'chat'. I won't buy extra data in future if it is going to be this HARD! I will just turn my internet OFF!

  • New data pack?

Just noticed that the $15/150 MB pack has been discontinued.  It's been replaced by a $10/75 MB pack.  In the data plan chart it says the $10 pack is for Feature Phones that require the data pack.  But at the bottom it says that $10 or higher data plans are required for 3G Smartphones.  So does this mean that one could get a Smartphone such as  Blackberry and be able to use the $10/75 MB plan?
And on a side note the BB Bold isn't listed under Smartphones anymore (except for the CPO version)???

I doubt that you can get this plan with a BB. I just tried downgrading my wife's $15/150MB plan to this new plan and wasn't able to do it. I suppose that I could try calling in, though. May try that, but I may be a bit too lazy to try that.
I was able to upgrade my daughters $9.99/25MB plan to the $10/75MB plan on her feature phone, though. She doesn't really come close to the 25MB, but it can't hurt to have a higher allowance at basically the same price, though.
If the Bold is not listed anymore, I would assume that it has been discontinued. Maybe a new model will be available soon?

  • Wi-fi and data pack...

I've got a new 3gs 16g....with a 1giga internet pack a week. When I stay home i've got a wi-fi connection. Are the data pack (1 giga a week) in standby When I surfing internet in wi-fi at home?.....how can I see what kind of connection is in, when I surf????
    Sorry 4 my bad english!

If it says "3G" "E" or "." in the upper left hand corneryou are on cellular data
If it has a "fan" shape of small arcs, you are on WiFi.

  • International Data Pack - Notifications Warnings and Alerts

I recently added an $85/300Mb International Data Pack to my iPad. I received no Activation Confirmation, no data usage notificationa at 50%, 85% etc, and no warnings on activation in a new country. I lie awake at night and ponder these things, and the answer is quite simple:  If you apply for an International Data Pack to be applied to an iPad (and most likely any Mobile Broadband device) the Pack will be applied OK, and it will work OK, but you will never get any SMS notifications, usage warnings or new country cost alerts!!An iPad SIM is only a 3G device (or 4G on later models) Telstra SMS notifications are in the 2G band, actually not even 2 G, they are sent in the signalling channels associated with voice calls, so SMSs can not technically be received on a 3G/4G Only device such as an iPad!You can try it yourself, turn off any web based messaging such as “iMessage” and send an old fashioned SMS TXT from your phone to your iPad number - your iPhone will not mark it as “Not delivered” but your iPad will never receive it.ps - you dont actually need to turn off iMessage, you can not send an iMessage to your iPad number either! You will see some messages on your iPad, (including SMS messages) but these are messages to your iPhone and only where/when you have your iPad and iPhone messages synced. You will also note that if you turn off iMessage in you iPad settings, you have no options to send an old-fashioned SMS (Thats because it is not technically possible to send (or receive) an SMS from a 3G device!)Others may disagree, so I welcome any debate or alternate opinion

Help - I give up! The website on International Roaming with a pre-paid says: "Usage alertsWe’ll send SMS alerts to keep you up-to-date with your usage. Depending on your Pre-Paid set up you might receive multiple usage and pricing SMS alerts. There is no charge for receiving these SMS alerts. The alerts we’ll send:If you have an International Roaming data pack, we’ll send you an SMS when you’ve have used 50%, 85% and 100% of your data allowance. If you use 100% of your data allowance we’ll send you an SMS reminding you of the cost to use data while overseas. If you’ve set up a Balance Based Automatic Recharge we’ll send you an SMS for every $100 of International Roaming pay-as-you-go (PAYG) data you use. Please note: You can’t opt out of these SMS alerts." Ms_Megahurtz (below) advises me: "....This is why from MyAccount I went into the alerts and enabled email alerts for my iPad so I get those alerts relevant to my iPad Mini 3...." I have been into MyAccount a dozen times, but I can find no path to change any Telstra SMS Alerts (which you can not get on an iPad) to an email alert? I'm a simple emperor of the dark side and the forces of good seem to be prevailing against me, so can anyone help me with keystroke-by-keystroke instructions?

  • Verizon 20$ data pack offered only through best buy?

when you check the verizon iphone 4s on bestbuy.com it says it requires and data pack of at least 20$. but if you check the verizon website it says at least 30$. is this just more false iphone 4s advertising or should i expect to get a 20$ data plan if my phone ever comes in?

This is a promotional plan being offered by Verizon, $20 for 300MB. Limited time to add this feature.

  • Data Packs on Prepaid

I want to tether my smart phone to my laptop and use it as a modem. My  phone is prepaid. I have tested it with the 400mb that I get with my prepaid recharge and it works just fine. Can I add the 3gb data pack to my prepaid recharge? For some strange reason Telstra does not mention anywhere that I can find if these data packs are for prepaid, postpaid or both.

Thanks again Kalak. Yes, I have. I use prepaid for both phone and broadband. I am a full time house sitter. So I like to have plenty of phone credit just in case I need to contact the home owners or an emergency comes up. I just finished sitting a house where I got NO optus signal at all. It was a 3 month sit, so I simply changed to Telstra for my phone. The owners provided WIFI for internet. Most of the time I use very little phone credit. But I might use 2 $30 recharges in one month at other times...For example. I am booked for 9 months of next year, so I only need "just in case" credit. But I am not booked to sit a house for Nov to Feb, so come Oct the phone will get a hammering contacting home owners. I just had a 4 day gap between house sits. So I went to visit Mum who lives in the middle of Shellharbour City...Optus signal was dismal. So  I used my phone as a modem and I was impressed with the Telstra signal and speed...BUT...the speed, signal and coverage does not justify the hefty price Telstra charges. Earlier this year a sat a house for people that drove half way round the country...From Vic to WA. They relied soley on Maccas for internet. The dozen or so times I needed to contact them by email was replied to within a day or two. So Telstra is not just competing with Optus and other telcos, but free WIFI suppliers like MacDonalds. When I came accross these data packs, I thought it was worth further consideration...But Telstra needs to be realistic and competative with the pricing because there are plenty of other options including FREE options. I am still very interested at looking further into these data packs or plus packs. But Telstra needs to be open and clear and so far they have not been...They want to sell me a product, but don't want to tell how the product works or how it is paid for nor tell me exactly what I will get for my money.

I am not 100 % sure of this but here is my best guess:
    1. you can surf the web with wifi alone
    2. I would think you could do that
    3. not sure about app world,
    4. you should be able to transfer some types of media using a usb
let me know  how it turns out

  • $10 extra data packs

I am worried that if I sign up for the $10 for 1 gig top up, if I exceed my current 8 gig mobile broadband data (currently slowed till the end of month) by only a few kilobytes I will be charged $10 for a gig which I will only use a small part of. Am I correct in thinking that?

Any TELSTRA mobile/mobile broadband plan. If you are slowed then you are on a Bigpond mobile broadband service, which is covered under different terms and conditions.
The Bigpond Mobile Broadband terms and conditions can be found at https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/personal/consumer-advice/pdf/consumer/bp-part-d.pdf and have no mention of Extra Data as an option.
Also, if you visit https://www.telstra.com.au/broadband/mobile-broadband/plans you'll notice the 'Go Mobile' plans mention Extra Data, yet when you switch to the Bigpond tab, all the information around Extra Data disappears.

  • Why did streaming a 140mb podcast use 800mb of my data pack?

I was traveling on the train today and wanted to listen to a podcast I hadn't downloaded yet and I figured I'd just stream it. I checked the info and it listed the size as 139mb, more than I usually use in a day but not outrageous. Anyway I got home and later in the day received a text from my provider saying I had used 99% of my data cap. Looking further I can see I used over 800mb today! All I did was listen to that one podcast and some geneal email, instagram, Facebook stuff that I always do. So, what gives? Why did it use so much data to stream a podcast?

Same here.  Thankfully I'm grandfathered into an unlimited plan.  But the day I installed the app, I had 1.3GB in data usage!!  Insane!

  • What is the use of Data packet dim with Virtual cube with services

    Hi Friends,
Could anybody tell me what is the use of Packet dimension in Virtual cube with services , It cannot contain data persistently ,Just fetch at runtime,Then there is no Physical load happening,Then why it should be automatically created for this??
Message was edited by: Pradeep choudhari

    Hi Maik,
Unit dimension will not be created automatically until and unless you have keyfigure referning units..
But my question is : Why should we have data pack dimension , which is useless in this case of Virtual cube with services. It should not be created automatically!! What do you say??

  • Downloading data from a different carrier

    Hello noboo79,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
On the computer you have initially the set the iPod up on and for, you can enable the "manually manage music and videos" option from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes. This will allow you to sync contect to the iPod from multiple computers. Otherwise, there is no other way.
Here is more on using your iPod with multiple computers as well as manually managing your iPod's contents.

  • Charting with data outside of Numbers 09 norm

    Hello all,
I'm going out of my ever lovin' mind trying to create both an X-Y Scatter and Line chart but, my data is NOT in the iWork standard of A1 being the upper left corner of the header and/or data block.  For instance, my data block starts at X2 with the X column of data starting at X2 and the three series of Y values are in columns Y, Z and AA.  Yes, the header row for three series starts at cell X1 and the first X data value is at X2 as well as the first three y values are in Y2, Z2 and AA2.
So, how do I select my data set so that all three series plot as a line chart properly?  Then, the same, what range of cells do I select so that this same data pack plots correctly as three plot lines on an X/Y scatter chart?  Next, yes, how do I set my header row and header colimn correctly for both plots?
Thanks in advance for the help.

A line chart is a "Category" chart.
One axis, usually the 'x' axis, is a Category axis. The category axis does not show numerical values (even if the values are numbers, they are simply text that names each category). Categories are evenly spaced along this axis. Labels for the categories must be placed into a Header Column.
Values shown on the Value axis (usually the 'y' axis) are numerical.
Here are two examples of the same data, presented first as a scatter chart with the data points connected by line segnments, then as a line graph.
Note the differences in organization of the table, and the differences in spacing along the x axis.
    Scatter chart:
All data in 'body' cells. Series labels in Header row. Note the shape of the line for Data series B (Green) and C (Yellow).
    Line Chart:
Category labels in a Header column (Column A), Data series labels in a Header Row (Row 1). The 'numbers ' in column A are seen as text, and a regularly spaced along the x axis.
Data series in regular cells (B2:D8) Only the data cells are selected when making the chart.
Note the shapes of the lines for data series B (Green) and C (Yellow).
For your setup, you would need to place the 'x' values into a Header column. The Y values in columns Y, Z and AA could stay in those columns.
You would select only columns Y, Z and AA, then make the Line chart, as I've done in the example below after inserting some new columns to the left of that data.

  • "Maximum package size for data packages was exceded".

    Hi,
We are getting the below error.
"Maximum package size for data packages was exceded".
In our scenario we are loading the data product key wise (which is a semantic key as well) to the DSO thro’ a start routine.
The logic in the start routine is such a way that it calculates the unique product counts , product key wise. Hence we are trying to
group  the product key thro’ semantic groups.
Ex: In this example the product counts should be A = 1,B=2 ,C = 1
      Product Key
      Products
      A
      1000100
      B
      2000100
      C
      3000100
      B
      2000300
      C
      3000100
For some product keys the data is so huge that we could not load the data & we are getting the error.
Please suggest any alternate way to  handle this thro’ code or introducing any other flow.
    Regards,
    Barla

    HI
we can solve the issue by opening the system setting of data packer size
like below we have create 2 programs, 1 for open the system settings,2 for
    close the settings .
    1 start program
    data: z_roidocprms like table of
    roidocprms.
data: wa like line of z_roidocprms.
    wa-slogsys = 'system_client' . wa-maxsize = '50000'. wa-statfrqu = '10'.
    wa-maxprocs = '6'. wa-maxlines = '50000'.
    insert wa into table z_roidocprms.
Modify roidocprms from table z_roidocprms .
    2 close program
data: z_roidocprms like table of roidocprms.
data: wa like line of z_roidocprms.
    wa-slogsys = 'syetm_client' . wa-maxsize = '50000'. wa-statfrqu = '10'.
    wa-maxprocs = '6'. wa-maxlines = '50000'.
    insert wa into table z_roidocprms.
modify roidocprms from table z_roidocprms .
data load infopakage settings we have to maintain like
    below
we have create the process chain like as below
    1 start progarm
    data load infopakage
    2 close program.
    This might fix the problem.
    Regards,
    Polu.
