Data Recovery - not sync'd!
iPhone 4: not current version but was updated in Dec.
How can I recover data that has not been backed up and it is in restore mode. Clearly I don't want to restore and it is not letting me update to save the data at rest.. Any ideas?
The wife is distraught as she is likely to loose all of the disney and birthday photos...some of the photos are on iCloud but the videos will not be.
Any help or recommended recovery tools would be greatly appreciated.
Mac fonelab - free recovery software is the main option on a quick search but I am not sure how good it is?

I've got the latest versions of iTunes and iPad software however some of my Data does not sync between my Windows PC and my iPad. Im trying to sync Pages documents and Books (both books and PDF's) but non are syncing . I've tried Many many times, also when I delete a pages document it does not delete on the iPad, I've tried deleting and changing apps and that works!

Mail messages after a certain date are not syncing in IMAP
I use IMAP with Intermedia hosted Exchange (set to allow IMAP with Apple Mail). Everything has worked fine with Mail.app for years. All of a sudden, in the last week, mail in archive folders is not syncing. I receive Inbox mail and see Sent mail, but folders where I store archived messages (Friends, Travel, etc.) do not show any messages after July 10. When I go to the webmail server, I see the messages in the folders where I moved them.
I have divided large folders into smaller ones, and done a completely clean download of all mail, and the problem persists. My iPod Touch was also having trouble seeing new messages.
This is a longshot, but the one change on July 10 was that I started using Mail from a different location. Could it have something to do with the Airport base station here or even the cable Internet provider?Update: it does not have to do with the Internet provider or local equipment. I tried downloading messages from a different network and the problem persisted.

ICal Service Data Recovery not working.
Hi,
After upgrading to 10.5.4 (not sure yet if this is the cause), my iCal service stopped working, with CPU on the Xserve getting maxed out whenever it ran, as per the earlier post in this forum. Following suggestions in that thread, I used a Time Machine backup I have of the server HD to recover the most recent copy of the Library/Calendar/Documents folder using the following command,so as to preserve permissions and ownerships etc:
sudo ditto -V -rsrc <source directory> <destination dir>
The data copied across fine, and when I point the iCal service to use the new data location and start up the service, all the data is there, but no new events can be created, as the client app (mail 3.0) reports...
Request for "New Event" in "James Glendinning" in account "James Glendinning" failed.
The server responded with
"HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error"
Looking at the error log for the iCal service, it's full of stuff I don't understand, which is logged as soon as the service is started whilst pointing to the new data location:

I'm particularly perplexed by the last line, which indicates that ....principals/ _uids__ location does not exist, when I can clearly see it from within finder, and it appears to have all the permissions intact.
Is there a way I can get the iCal service to keep all the calender entry data it has, and rebuild any of the other bits it needs on the fly? Or any other ideas at all?OK, great, I tried that on the busted data location, and it still didn't work, I think there's some corrupt dblite files of something. In any case, I've given up, instead I've created a new store, and set the permissions as you've described, and am rebuilding each calendar individually, which is a pain, but I needed it working asap.
I'll see how the new data location holds up with this new data and post results.

Smart Playlists w/"Date modified" not syncing to iPhone/iPad

Simply add a second rule to the smart playlist, one that has no effect on the results if you set to "match all": -- Playlist is 'Music' --
Sync your playlist again on the iPhone, and magically the contents looks now the same than in iTunes. -
Album Dates Will Not Sync to iPhone
I'm a huge Beatles fan (My name probably gives it away) and I want my albums to be in order by the years they were released. Some of the albums were listed as being released in either 2009, 2010, or 2014, which is really annoying having With The Beatles, Revolver and Hard Day's Night above Abbey Road and Let it Be and numerous other albums. I decided to go into my computer, sync my iPhone 5S and change the dates through there using "Edit", "Select All", and "Get Info". The albums are changed on my computer, but when I sync my phone... they are still listed as being released in the 2000's.
The problem albums are With the Beatles, Revolver, and Hard Day's Night. I bought With the Beatles through iTunes and burned Revolver and Hard Day's Night into my iTunes... BUT, prior to me getting the CD's I had already purchased one or two songs from each album via iTunes.
Now here's what annoys me. I had two discs from Let it Be... Naked. One with the songs, and another with a 20 minute session of The Beatles jamming called "Fly on the Wall". Fly on the Wall had an incorrect date and IT FIXED.

Use iPhoto for my photos.
Use iTunes to Sync.
Mosly my iTunes syncs selected albums/events without any problems.
But a few of my albums/events won't sync. Or the albums/events syncs, but only one or two photos.
iTunes simply doesn't see, that there is photos in the selected albums/events.
It sometimes helps to make a new event, and put the photos from old even into new one.
But this time, nothing I do helps.
Really boring.
It's like there is a communication error between iPhoto and iTunes. -
'Last Played' date does not sync from ipod to itunes
Hi, I've looked through the forums and can't find an answer to this, but apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere.
I'm using itunes 7 with Windows XP and a 20gb 3rd gen ipod. I have a number of smart playlists which are based on the date songs were last played, but recently this hasn't been updated from ipod to itunes. It used to - I'm not sure if the problem has been since I updated to itunes 7 or not, but it might be. Weirdly, the play count - IS updated, so itunes knows that I played the song on my ipod, it just doesn't know when!!
Any ideas?

The contacts and calendar data on my iPod touch will not sync with my Mac
I have a 2nd generation ipod touch, and an iMac running iTunes 8.2.1.
I have been away from my mac for a few months and have entered a lot of contact and calendar info into my ipod touch.
Now, when I try to sync the contacts and calendar data on my ipod touch with my mac, the data will not sync to my mac.
Similarly, for the last couple months, the contact and calendar data on my ipod touch has not been able to sync with my mobileme account.
I cannot afford to lose the contact and calendar data on my ipod touch.

I found this article for you to help troubleshoot why the calendar data is not syncing over to your devices.
It is named Mac OS X: Resetting the SyncServices folder found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627.
There are different instructions depending on your OS in the article.
If for some reason the issue persists, I would take a look at the article named Sync Services: Advanced troubleshooting for contact and calendar syncing located here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2481.

IPhone Contacts & Calendars not syncing with mobileme
Apologies if there is a solution to this posted already, I can't find it despite extensive searching!
My iPhone Calendars & Contacts do not sync with MobileMe. I can't find a way of exporting or saving the data on the iPhone and importing it into my desktop iCal & Contacts apps.
I have looked at all troubleshooting help I can find, and all is suggested is deleting/ resetting the phone & syncing from MobileMe. However, if I do this I will lose lots of contacts & calendar entries.
The data will NOT sync from my phone despite following all available instructions. My desktop apps are all set to sync with MobileMe & this works fine, it's just the iPhone data will not transfer to MobileMe.
Please help!!Since you are syncing your iPhone with your Mac, it should be syncing your contacts and calendars with your Mac as well (and your bookmarks if you have it set up to sync). You should have Mobile Me setup on your Mac to at least sync your Calendars and Contacts, which should be updating your Mobile Me account. If you want to check to make sure that all of your contacts that are on your iPhone are on your Mac, simply open up the Contacts App. Once you check this, add your Mobile Me account to your iPhone and let it sync your contacts and calendars, it will delete all the contacts and calendars that are currently on your iPhone, but the same data is on your Mac anyways. Once Mobile Me syncs with your iPhone you won't have to worry about it anymore.
If you are having problems where you already setup your Mobile Me account on your iPhone and it's not syncing properly, deleted it, restart your iPhone, then add it again.

What calendar were you syning to? Outlook? Google? Something else? The directions on how to resync vary a bit.

The Apple techs are looking. But they can't find it. Nor can they find a back up on my laptop, Evidently when I backed up my Iphone to computer the calendar wasn't syncing. Since I only use the calander on my phone - I never noticed.
The Apple store rep that sold me the I-Phone 5 on Monday, was transferring my contacts and calendar thru I-Cloud (I never used I-Cloud before that moment - and always had it turned off). He successfully transferred the contacts - which are still on my phone), but the Calendar weirdly split into 6 calendars (2 of which were linked to my G-Mail which only had a few entries) (4 were linked to my MSN / Hotmail email and contained all the major events/data). I never created calendars that were separate or liked them to 2 different emails. I just typed entries into the I-Phone calendar. However, the calendar did exist on the new I-Phone for 24 hours. Something happened during transfer. When the Apple Genius Bar tech was attempting to back up my Calendar & merge the 6 calendars, everything disappeared in his hand while he was looking at it.
I am hoping that some really good data recovery expert exists that can restore the calendar that was in both I-Phones yesterday. It is completely devastating if I can't recover it.
Any help, or referrals, is great appreciated!!!!

Ipad2 not syncing in recovery mode
I was just trying to update my ipad2 with ios 4.3.3 to ios 7 but once i tried it for some reason it went to recovery mode and now i cant change it back. Itunes is not syncing with the ipad so i cant do anything, tried all the reset and DFU all that. help? thanks
Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.
