I believe that it is possible to use evdre to query data from a SQL View. If this is possible then how does one go about setting it up in the evdre options (assuming that the view has already been created)?

Byron, perhaps this is no longer supported, it might be worth opening up a case at service.sap.com on this. However, I did find the following on Page 11 of the "Usages and Considerations of EVDRE" pdf file. This doc is imbedded in the helpfile for BPC 7 SP5 (which was released in August of 2009, well after note 1315011 was last updated.
It looks like you are limited to one custom view per application, since you have to name the view in a parameter at the APPLICATION level. Go into BPC Administration, login to the application related to the custom view, choose "Set Application Parameters" and enter the name of the view to the Application Parameter called "EVDRE_QUERYVIEWNAME" If it is not listed, go ahead and create it at the bottom of the Application parameter screen.
Also: I interpreted the following info from Page 10 of the same doc:
In your EVDRE, set the following options:
QueryEngine: MANUAL
QueryType: enter either NEXJ OR TUPLE see below:
NEXJ - Use two-dimensional queries using the nonemptycrossjoin function
TUPLE - Use two-dimensional queries using tuples"
And I'm assuming you'd enter a Y for the following two parameters:
QueryViewName
"..to enforce the query engine to use a used-defined SQL view of the fact tables, when trying to read the values using SQL queries. This option is typically used in conjunction with the SQLOnly option (see below). "

Please check the timezone set in your server where Weblogic is installed. Also ensure the timezone on which your weblogic is running, the same is present in in database by querying V$TIMEZONE_NAMES table. If it is not present then please change the timezone of the server. then try to execute the steps what you are doing, it will not throw any error.

I had a simular problem with progress. If the progress table had to many columns
OWB was failing. The problem was the ODBC driver used to make a connection to PROGRESS.

I was adding a default schema setting to a user id, saved the role and got the above error. ID hidden. All the roles below had default already added but had not caused error and some had been in place since Oracle9i

The original change was made by a dba using current Oracle OEM. I accessed using TOAD10 to update another user with a default check mark. Upon trying to save, I got the above error. The updated access remained even though it gave an error and the user reported being able to get to her data. However, any changes to the role with adding or removing admin or default will display the error.
Any ideas?

Hi,
Oracle makes an entry in SYS.DEFROLE$ table for a pair of user and default role.
You are getting the error as some of the roles you are now assigning are already default roles for this user and hence UK violation.
You can make use of *"sys.KU$_DEFROLE_LIST_VIEW"* to find already existing records. (see ex below)
SQL> select * from sys.KU$_DEFROLE_LIST_VIEW;

I followed as per the order od statements you gave. Initially there was no table "ALBUM" when I executed the first 2 statements.
3rd staement i created a table "ALBUM" and then 4th and 5th statement showed that I have a table called "ALBUM".

When i execute this for the first time the drop commands fail, as expected and the types/tables are successfully created. But if i try to run again the same code i get this error:

Displaying diff dates using PL/SQL expression for 'display only' item ?

Hi ,
I am having a display only item -- :P2_FROM_Date . If its Thu,Fri,Sat or Sun I want to set the date as the last Monday's date . If its Mon,Tue or Wed then it should be the present Monday's date .
E.g: Today is Friday and the last Monday was on 18th .
So for yesterday , today,tomorrow and Sunday , the date should be displayed as 18-JUN-2012.
From the coming Monday to Wednesday , the date should of be the coming Monday i.e , 24-JUN-2012
I tried it doing under 'Source ' of item using PL/SQL expression and PL/SQL function body. Not working
Can someone help ?

Aren't these rules equivalent to "Monday this week, where Monday is the first day of the week"? In which case the PL/SQL Expression you require is:

Dual Language Data upload using SQL*Loader

I have to load data consisting of English and Traditional Chinese characters into 8.1.5 from external files. These external files are in MS Excel.
Is there any way that I can user SQL*Loader for this ? If yes, how ? If not, is there any other way out.
The NLS in the database is currently AMERICAN.

Data Structures in SQL Server

Friends,
I am giving a session on "Data structures and SQL Server" for one of the SQL Server communities in India.
My idea is to explain high level concepts of data structures (Stacks, Queues, Linked lists, Trees, Graphs etc.)
here are my questions.
Like to know how data structure concepts are implemented SQL Server components (in a high level).
Here are some hints in my mind:
1. Queues - SQL Server - DMVs for Processor Queue length, Disk Queue length etc.
2. Linked Lists - SQL Server - Previous and Next page pointers in Page headers (and DBCC IND)
3. Trees - SQL Server - Btrees in Indexes (DBCC IND and DBCC PAGE of Index pages)
3. Linear Search - SQL Server - Table Scan
4. Binary Search - SQL Server - Index Seek
What i need is:
1. Sorting algorithm used in SQL Server?
2. Stack concept used in SQL Server? I think No
3. what else data structure concepts are implemented in SQL Server (that can be demonstrated)
Note: level: 300 - Intermediate to Advanced.

Data Loading using SQL* Loader giving errors..

While loading the data using SQL* Loader, I came across the following errors:
- SQL*Loader-00604 Error occurred on an attempt to commit
- ORA-01041 internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist
My Control and Data files have proper Carriage Returns i.e. the last line of both the files is blank.
So, if somebody know about this, plz help me.
