Data Security Based on Responsibility

Hi Gurus,
We are planning to have seperate Order managment user respnsibility for each inventory organizations. How do we restrict viewing of the orders created from an organizaiton to the resposibility created for that organization ?,

Hi All,
We have a multiprovider in BW (BI7.0) directly connected to a BO (BO XI3.1) universe. The users will access the reports only in BO with a SSO.
We would like to know how we need to handle authorizations in BW or in BO to restrict users based on Country, Plant or Company. The infoobjects in BW with authorization relevant will only work when Bex query is used.
Can someone please help us how to handle the data security.

We have a requirement to show some reports based on OLTP (Siebel Base tables with S_) tables. so we have created a repository and created few reports in OBIEE.
Now we want to implement security based on these tables. Like siebel users will be accessing these reports, So how do we implement security based on the position and responsibility of Siebel tables.

OBIEE-EBS data security integration

I am trying to implement the HR-Org based data security in EBS-OBIEE integration.
After creating the initialization blocks EBS Single Sign-on Integration,Get Oracle EBS Security Context,Group-EBS Responsibility I have created a new initialization block HR Organizations to populate the session variable "HR_ORG" and I am using the following the query.
Even though the session variables GROUP and USER are getting their values correctly and integration works fine, the variable HR_ORG says "has no value definition".
[nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 23006] The session variable, NQ_SESSION.HR_ORG, has no value definition. (HY000)

Hiding based on responsibility

This is probably an easy one to answer, however I am a bit new to the OA world.
I have a custom page (11.5.10) and I want to hide an image based on a user's responsibility. I have a switcher region for the page working fine (with two images) based on information from the database, however I want the switcher to change and be based on responsibility instead of data from the database. Any ideas on how to do this?

Best way to implement your Business logic is functional security.
1. Create a new function (no parameters and URL), say XX_SEC_FUNC
2. Attach it to the menu that is used in your responsibility.
In the page, just enter *${oa.FunctionSecurity.BENEFITS_GUEST}* in the Rendered property.
Now Go to -> System administrator -> Security -> Responsibility
1. to hide the text exclude the function(XX_SEC_FUNC) in the responsibility.
2. to show it delete the function(XX_SEC_FUNC) from the exclusion list.
this is very flexible and can be configured easily. No code modification needed.
And if you want to extend the functionality to multiple responsibilities, then it can be easily done.

Hi,
You need to have Back End support to achieve this. In Back End you need to create two groups . You need to know what joins has to be made for which group (which is more important) and also make session variable for the userrole (with SQL supporting it). In the BMM layer, we need to put the security join conditions in the 'where clause'.
And make a common report. User loggin in with the respective userid will have userrole and joins assigned in the Back end. And they will be viewing the report according to their access.

NULL values and Data Control based on Web Service

One of my ADF control is based on a Data Control created through a web service. Every thing is working fine except the way ADF control is handling the null values return by the web service based data control.
For example for null columns the web service is sending the following:
<ns0:beginDate xsi:nil="1"/>
or
<ns0:sourceCode xsi:nil="1"/>
But the corresponding column in my ADF data control is trying to initialize itself using the value [{nil=1}]. It fails with the following error.
2006-04-20 13:31:37.510 WARNING JBO-25009: Cannot create an object of type:java.util.Date with value:[{nil=1}]
I will appreciate if someone could help me resolve this issue.

I tried again, but it seems that I'm unable to reproduce this in a test project which uses another data controls but is still as similar as possible to the original project in which I've encountered this behaviour.
However, using a data control based on the same web service as in the original project, [{nil=1}] appears again instead of emtpy values.
Is it possible that there is a significant difference in the generated wrapper classes? The underlying PL/SQL is the same (in strucutre) and the corresponding elements in the response XML of the web service are the same in the two cases, always like <ns0:someResponeValue xsi:nil="1"/>, so I don't know how it is possible that I can't reproduce this behaviour.
A short description of the projects:
Services/Model:
I created a PL/SQL funcition in a package that returns a user type object. This return parameter consists of a non-empty string and a null value string. On top of this I created a PL/SQL web service and a data control for that.
View/Controller:
A JSF JSP page which has a read-only form showing the return values of the web service.

Database Data Security: both from within (using MIMEbase64 encoding) and from without (using encryption).

In my MDB file databases (Jet 4.x format) I turn on both compression and encryption. This gives me data security from without, meaning, I can't open a MDB file in a Word Processing software (or otherwise) and read the data in a humanly recognized
format.   But I am also using MIMEbase64 encoding of my stored data so that the data is humanly unreadable from within - meaning that anyone performing an SQL query will not be able to humanly read the data in my database. I do the decoding
(from MIMEbase64) within my end-user software interfaces to the databases.
I found out just recently (last few months) that I can do this from Win32 Perl, so I encorporated this feature into my Perl database applications.   Only thing is that MIMEbase64 increases the size of the data stored.
Is there a better encoding strategy available today which might actually compress the data a little?

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SECURE/CUSTOM (non-formula based) TEXTFILE ENCODING (should be undecipherable w/o mappings file):

You should have little trouble writing the textfile encode/decode logic yourself.
(3) Read your list of unique codes into an array.
(4) Read your list of unique words(+punc) into another array.

(5) select a random code and a random word(+punc) from the 2 arrays.
(6) now remove that code and that word(+punc) from each array using "splice".
(7) then save them as key/val pairs to persistent Perl SDBM database files ("mappings").

(8) Once you have your persistent, random code/word mappings, you can convert your textfile
to an encoded textfile. Read in one line at a time from your textfile (chomp), parse the words(+punc.)
between whitespace within that line, then for each word(+punc) parsed, perform

file of key/val pairs, where KEY=word and VAL=code. You will then need to
concatenate these codes (space delimited) to your outputline, in the same order as found in your
inputline, finally writing the outputline (newline "\n" terminated) to your new encoded textfile.
(9) Keep your persistent Perl SDBM database file ("mappings") in SAFE KEEPING, with a naming
convention of your choice that perhaps hides any relationship to the name of
your encoded text document - which it specifically pertains to. But keep a record of that joint
relationship somewhere. Keep a copy of both the original textfile and the encoded textfile,
or perhaps you'd like to keep just the encoded textfile?, and not the original? You can always decode it.
(10) Send your encoded text document via email as an attachment, to the recipient of your choice.
(11) Upload your persistent Perl SDBM database "mappings" file to your secure login FTP download site.
NOTE: If your encoded text document is very large, you may want to reverse 10 & 11, putting the encoded file
on the FTP site, and sending the Perl SDBM database file ("mappings") as the email attachment.
(12) Call your recipient to see if they have received the encoded textfile, email attachment.
Let them know that the "mappings" file is uploaded for them to download from the FTP site.
You can have a LINGO you both use/know on the phone, to secretly convey this message, if you like,
to avoid possible interception of this sensitive information.
Recipient will then take the encoded textfile email attachment, the FTP downloaded "mappings" file,
and place them both in a directory on their PC where the Perl decoding program is located which you
had previously sent them to handle all the decoding anytime you send them an encoded textfile + "mappings".
Recipient will run the Perl decoding utility program to create the original textfile.

Running data providers based on other data provider results in webi

Hi,
Thank you all; this is a great place to look for answers whenever you stumble in BO.
I got a specific requirement for a Webi report. The report should display the associated metrics only when the total surveyed members are greater than 25, if not, N/A.
This requirement happens to be a new add on for the already existing report; the report was built with multiple providers, in which one of the providers gives the total surveyed members.
Is there any way that we can control the rest of the data providers based on the first data provider output. I donu2019t want to run the rest of the data providersu2014 as there are too many, and each takes quite a bit of timeu2014 if the surveyed members are less than or equal to 25.
We are on XI3.1 Sp3

Vills u2013 Is it query from the results functionality that you are talking about? I tried this approach, but as I am using the measure in the filter of the 2nd data provider (total members > 25),and the resulting SQL is not getting parsed.
Waveryu2014 The report filter that I tried to use is not working. Can you please give me some more details how to use it?
As I would like to leverage the existing report, which perfectly works for the total members> 25 logic, I was asked to find a way to not to run the rest of the data providers to save db resources, provided if the total mbrs participated in the survey from the first data provider <25.
Is there any way that we can embed some case statement in the other data providers to make them run or throw an error message depending on member count?
To give some more understanding, I want to provide you the screen shots of the queries, but I am unable to paste those screen shots here .
Essentially I am looking for is there any way to use one data provideru2019s output as a trigger for the rest of the data providers?

Setting CSS Style Class dynamically based on Responsibility

Hi Guys,
Is there an elegant way of setting css class in all items of a page based on responsibility? I've seen that there is a way on attributes like readOnly, disabled and rendering thru function security. How about the other attributes like css class? I even tried PVO, hahaha...but then I read, it doesn't apply to css class... :-)
Guys, please help! Need this.. It'll save lots of time writing the code programmatically if it can be set as SPEL. hmmmmm...

We want to do this using KPIs feature in 11g. Now, for the Target Value, we want the average resolution time across all the organizations in the system. That is, we want to compare this user's organization against the performance of all the organizations in the system.

Can Data Links be established between Data sets based on View Objects?

In the BI Publisher Documentation it's given that Datasets based on view object queries do not support Data Links / Group Links. We found out that only way to establish relationship between view object Datasets is to create a view link and then upload it to create a Dataset.
1. Is there any other way to establish relationship between view objects Datasets in DataModel editor itself just as in the case of data sets based on (SQL queries e.t.c.)?
2. If so can View object Datasets be linked to Datasets based on other Datasources?
3. Will the Datalinks for View object Datasets be supported in any of the upcoming releases. Is there any ER logged for this case?

Enhance the data source with date and time and populate these fields in the user exit using the function module IB_CONVERT_FROM_TIMESTAMP .
OR
You can create Z function module IB_CONVERT_FROM_TIMESTAMP in BW side and write a routine in update rules/transfer rules to populate date and time.

Data security for multiple data sources

Dear BO guru's,
I am struggling with a brainbraker on authorizations on Universes since quite some time.
I am not a BO guru so hopefully someone can help me with this.
I (more or less) know the concept of data security in BO: users can be restricted on data level in (mainly) two ways:
1) with roles in CMC and with restrictions in Universe Designer.
OR
2) with a DB table that contains all authorized values per user and per field (i.e. John can see data for country UK)
The first is easy to set up, but hard to maintain.
The second is difficult to set up, but very flexible.
Now here is the problem...
Supporse your BO server is connected to different source systems (i.e. an SQL server, an Oracle server...) and you want only one universe to get data from all systems at the same time and display it in one report.
If I am not mistaken, this means we need a data federator.
...My questions:
1) Is there a possibility to do this without a data federator (but still have one universe to build my report or dashboard on)?
2) Where do I keep the table with authorizations for the users? Is that a database of the BO Enterprise server, a seperate data base, or in a table of one of the source systems (SQL, Oracle...)?
As this questions keeps me busy since long time, I would be very grateful to have your help.
It seems hard to find information on this.

Apart from the Data Federator, you can either use an ETL tool to load your data into a single Datawarehouse or wait until XI 4.0

If you are going to use the Data Federator then you can create the table in one of your source systems and add it as a data source in your DF project.

How to Modify Data in a Servlet Response

Hi..
I have a servlet that upon receving an http request from client sends some data to the client browser, but i want to modify the data that is being sent to the client and resend it somehow (like its a kind of bypassing...without sending the original data..i want to modify the data and send the response ON THE FLY.
Any ideas of suggestions how to do it, if some one of you has already done it then pls do send some code snippet.

Aha... now the truth comes out. You asked how to do it, but your secret question was that you were already doing it and you were having some problems. It's generally just better to come out and ask the question, even though it may be embarrassing that what you did isn't working.
To me, what you did sounds like a perfectly good method, except that writing the data to a temp file is going to run you into problems as soon as you get two requests at about the same time. I would do that in memory instead (write to a ByteArrayOutputStream, get the resulting array of bytes, modify it, and write the end result out to the servet response's output stream).
The problem you describe, though, is probably caused because the browsers are caching requests to your servlet. Do you have something like this code in your servlet that tells the browsers not to cache it?response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache");
response.setHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");
