Data Selection is disabled in Infopackage

Hello Friends,
I am facing a small problem.
I want to pull data for an infosource 2LIS_05_UDN.
Now there are already infopackages existing for the infosource, but it is not allowing me to select date range, the data selection is disabled.
How do i go about it??

Hi,
are you trying to load the data through a package with option of delta load.
Then you cannot give the selection.
You can give selection only for full load and init packages and not delta packages.
also you can check in RSA3 in the source system if you have any selection options for that data source or not.

Its a very basic question but can anybody tell me what function the "data selection " Tab does in infopackage?
I know the setting required on R3 side for that but not sure why we use the data selection.
Can we use this data selection for master data as well?

Hi Kris,
Data Selection tab allows you to select: date ranges, document numbers and the like.
In order to have filds in there, you should first select in the DataSource in the R/3 side wich field could be selected.
If it is a Generic DataSource, you can do it running RSO2 transaction code.

InfoPackage Data Selection ignored

Hi
I have a weird issue that I hope someone can advise me on. I have created an identical generic datasource based on table USR02 in our CRM, R/3 and BW systems. Then in BW I have 3 InfoPackages (one for each datasource) with identical data selections. For the InfoPackages using the CRM and R/3 datasources I get exactly the records I expect but for the BW InfoPackage I get all records irrespective of the data selections!?
Why are the data selections ignored for the InfoPackage using the BW source system - any ideas?

Finally found the problem. Basically the datasource in BW had the 'Field only known in customer exit' checkbox checked for the TRDAT field. I hadn't set this - the system did and would not allow be to change it. However I found SAP note 895801DataSource fields are interpreted as customer fields which seemed to suggest that this was the real problem.
I applied the note and re-created the datasource and it now work as expected.

How To Add InfoObject in the Data Selection Tab of InfoPackages in 2004s

Hi Y'all!
I would like to ask how to add an infoobject in the Data Selection Tab of the InfoPackage in 2004s. It says its optional, this definintion of selection criteria for the infopackage.
My apologies, I don't understand how this is done. Surely, I would like, however, to understand how to add an infoobject in this data selection Tab of the InfoPackage in 2004s.
Can any kind soul out there (gurus) please lend me your thoughts?

Generic Data Source and InfoPackage Data Selection

Hello, I'm trying to extract data from a generic data source (composed of a view joining 4 tables) using the Data Selection Criteria in an infopackage. Sometimes the selection criteria is ignored and more data is pulled than expected. The number of selectable items in the generic data source has been reduced (in case this was an issue) and for a short time the infopackaged pulled the expected number of records. Then another change was made to the generic data source and the problem returned. In any case, the transported generic data source does not work in the target system either. I'm not sure what is causing this to happen. Any ideas??? BW 3.5.

Hi,
Some of the datasources will not have default Infopackages for them.You can create the infopackages according to the requirement.There is no big deal for creating Infopackages.You can go ahead creating them.

How to debug an OLAP variant which is in Infopackage Data selection Tab

Hi experts,
How can I debug an OLAP variant used in the data selection tab for an infopackage? The loading is done via process chains. I am trying to debug the SAP delivered OLAP variant 0P_PPER3 of infoobject 0FISCPER3 (SAP exit). If I am not mistaken I believe the function module is RSVAREXIT_0P_PPER3. Thanks.

This method is always good (if you have authorization to work in SM50):
put before your code an endless loop like this one:
data flag type c.
clear flag.
do.
if flag = ' '.
exit.
endif.
enddo.
then start your load...go to SM50 and here you will see your process looping on the same pgm...highlight the process and access into it in debug mode from the menu...
here you can change flag in 'X', exit from the loop and continue all the process in debug !!!

Special Characters in InfoPackage Data Selection

Hi Experts,
Is it possible to include special key such as * in the data selection tab in the infoPackage? e.g. *AB
I have created a custom DataSource to extract all work order with costs data.
However we only need work order data with revision number that finishes with 'AB' for reporting. (if I do not apply this selection, extracted data will be too big).
i.e.
    REVNR
    00000012AB --> to be included in extraction
    00000231AB --> to be included in extraction
    00012322AB --> to be included in extraction
    Y07WK06    --> excludes this record
    00000007AB --> to be included in extraction
Can this be achieve by using '*AB' in the data selection screen?
Currently, SELOPTS of custom DataSource is been set to '0'. (where can I change this SELOPTS value to something else?)
If special key is not allowed in the data selection screen, can you suggest any alternative solution?

   Yes you can do this one at info package level by selecting the ABAP Coding at Type (variable change for selective values) at selection tab of info package.
Here you need write ABAP coding according to your business requirements.
or
You can drop unnecessary data at update routine.

Parameterized Data Selection in Scheduler Infopackage in BW

hei...is there any way that i can parameterized the data selection in the scheduler infopackage? When i wanna load the data from the scheduler, the data selection will change based on the source systems. Let say today got data in the source system, then the scheduler can auto select today's date to load the data, if let say next monday 25th of feb got data, then the scheduler will auto select the date 25th of feb and load the data from the source system to BW.

Not sure I understood this fully.
For each source system there would be 1 infoapckage as it is created on the datasource.
Now for your requirement you can write a routine inside the infoapckage to load the data for the current data.

You can update the table RSOSFIELDS for the datasource by writing an abap code like this
tables ROOSFIELD.
Update ROOSFIELD set SELECTION = 'M' where
OLTPSOURCE = '<your datasource name>' and
FIELD = '<field on which mandatory selection is needed>'.

Does the data selection on an infopackage only allow a range

Will the data selection tab on an infopackage allow for multiple single values or just a range? I have a routine that loads speciific plants. I'm not getting an error but when I run the infopackage but it seems to be grappbing data for all plants

It will allow multiple selections..
You need to place the cursor on the required object in the data selection field, and then click on + (Plus) icon at the bottom this bill bring one more entry for the same object.
Like this you can make multiple times to maintain the multiple Selections..

Goto RSA3 in BW and then give 8<your ODS name> an dchekc the data, then goto RSA6 and find your DataSource then click on Change icon and then Select the Fileds which are required for data selction.
ALso try with RSO2 and give 8<DSO Name > change then select the fields.

How does the selection condition in the infopackage help in initializing delta?

Hi,
You can enter multiple single valus for any field in the infopackage. Just select the row for material type and then click on the insert duplicate button ( + sign ) which is at the bottom letf hand side in the 'Data Selection' tab within the infopackage. You will usually find this 'insert duplicate' icon next to the 'Check' push button.
You can insert as many rows as you want for material type by select the material type rown and clicking on this icon. You can then enter the three values in the three rows for material type.

Complex Data Selection Criteria

Is it possible to do complex Data Selection Criteria invloving more than one InfoObject in Data Selection tab of the InfoPackage?
Eg :
(Controlling area = 'ABC' and Fiscal Period between 001/2005 & 003/2005)
OR
(Controlling area = 'AAA' and Fiscal Period between 004/2005 & 008/2005)
OR
(Controlling area = 'XYZ' and Fiscal Period between 003/2005 & 008/2005)
We are currently planning to use 3 different InfoPackages to do the same and checking if it can be done in 1 InfoPackage.

BAPI_IPAK_CHANGE is a good option, but will not give you the flexibility you are looking for as it will change the selection criteria, but will not give you the AND, OR (complex selection)option, that you are looking for. What you will end up havig to do if you follow this route is to call the same selection package 3 times with modified selection criteria for each using BAPI_IPAK_CHANGE, or have to use BAPI_IPAK_CREATE to create the infopack with these selection for every load. This will eliminate all or any delta loading hopes that you may have.
I feel that infopackage group will work nicely for you and with minimal effort of maintenance in the future.

I have a generic datasource. I have data selections in the Infopackage. Say, I have Data selection for Plant as "5000". But, data for all Plants are getting pulled for all Plants. Why is this Selection not picked ?

Data Selection in Init Infopackage

Hi All
I want to schedule a Delta Upload on a ODS to load data to another ODS
For this i created a init load infopackage. I want to give some Data Selections for load. But in the Data Selection Tab I am unable to see any selection options
The same infopackage if i select Full upload I can see the Selection options how do i get all these selection options in init infopackage aswell.

You Cant have a Dataselection option in Initiazation option, however, you if you still want to have a Dataselection option as you wish (Say Document posting date from -to) in delta from ODS 1 to ODS2. You can change the update rule for the By writting a routine or can give the create your rule for selection of your own selection. but i am not sure youcan use ranges
(From- to) in update rule.
