Data service ONLYT to retry NOT to failover when service is down

Hi All,
I have around 10 services to be clustered under 3.2 with network aware agents; normally I use scdbuilder to create agents.
There is few services, which I want them to stay down if they fail in the running node.
Let say I have service1 - running on port 2000, If port 2000 is down, I want advice it to restart this, failing the restart I want to make it START_FAIL, rather than switching to other nodes and try to restart there.
Is it possible to achieve this thru Sun Cluster 3.2

Many thanks, I was reading about failover mode property - RESTART_ONLY, I guess It should work becoz my data services are build from scdsbuilder, so they should use DSDL. I will test it.

Date Axis Line/bar Chart not working properly when rendering through SDK

When i render a existing Crystal report 2011 through java SDK code(Eclipse) bar chart is working fine, But the Date Axis line chart is not displaying properly. the properties are getting changed.. Any clue how to handle this? Do we have particular jar for Chart?

Data load buffer [1] does not exist error when loading cube

Hello
I'm trying to load data using Essbase Studio. Everything was working fine, the load used to occur very quickly.
After updating the SQL query to load a larger period ( 5 years instead of 2 ), the load fails after exactly 10 minutes ! I'm wondering if there's a timeout configuration or something similar in Essbase because I have other cubes that has large queries that are stopping after exactly 10 minutes.
The environment is:
Essbase 11.1.2.1 on Linux 64 bits
Data source: Oracle 10r2 database

Does not start, but when I shut down the computer then the browser shows up right before sytem shuts down.

I am having problems with Firefox. When I click on the shortcut, or the .exe file nothing happens. I check task manager to see if it is running and it does not show Firefox is running.
But when I shut down the computer then the browser shows up right before the computer shuts down. I have tried starting the browser in safe mode and the same thing happens. I cannot give any troubleshooting info because the browser is not visible for me to click on help or any other button.

IMac does not power off when I shut down

I have an iMac with 10.7 as the operating system. When I power down the machine the screen goes gray and just stays in the gray mode until I hold the power key down manually. It starts up normally, just a "shut down" issue. I recently upgraded from 10.6 to 10.7 and had the same problem with 10.6 (not sure that means anything.) I am pretty sure this is not a good way to shut down a Mac. Any ideas on what might be going on here? Thanks.

Date time picker script does not look right when calender pops up

HT1918 I'm from the Philippines and the County field does not accept 3 letters. Not sure why when the drop down options only has 3 letters for the provinces.

The Philippines only has Provinces not Counties and the province initials only have 3 letters. I cannot create my Apple ID because it keeps getting the "enter at least 4 letters or numbers" error. Please help.

Slave does not automatically authenticate when master is down

We are running MFA in a dual server master-slave configuration. When the master MFA server is down the slave does not automatically take over. You have to open the GUI and promote the slave server to master to get it working again. I expected the slave to
authenticate without administrator intervention. Is this by design? We are running latest version 6.3.1.1.

"Regardless of the UI, if an authentication request is sent to the slave, it will process it"
If the master server is offline, it does not.
it is also mentioned that

thanks for your reply! I had already dug through the link you gave me. For your information: we are using MFA to secure a sharepoint site via IIS. I understand about the 'no updates without the master' thing but in the link it is also said:
"A slave can process authentication whether the master is up or not"
It can, but you have to promote it to master manually. It does not process authentication requests from remote users on its own.
"The slave will only do work when the master is offline"
What work? It appears to not include authentication request from remote users. At least, not automatically. You have to promote it to master first.
Finally, it is being said:
"The on-premises Azure MFA Servers don’t do any kind of failover on its own"
So, if I am understanding this right you WILL HAVE to promote the slave server to master manually when the master is offline. I am wondering if I can use the MFA API to write a custom script which checks if the master server is offline or not and promote
to master if needed. If so, I would expect this functionality to be already there with MFA itself. What's the purpose of an MFA cluster if it requires manual user intervention for failover?
Edit: I am now looking into the powershell module obtainable at http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/ but
none of the commandlets seem to support managing the multi factor auth providers via powershell.
Also, the Azure AD module obtainable at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/jj151815.aspx seems to be focused at user administration and no support
for Multi-Factor Auth providers.
Also, the command line tool obtainable athttp://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/xplat-cli/ also does not seem to have support for managing multi factor auth providers.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Could not sign in when trying to down load app on i phone

I am trying to down load an app on my Iphone. I get the message "Could not sign in". I have changed my password three times so I don't think this is the problem. Help! What else can I do?

Check that the email address is correct for your login. You'd be surprised how many times I've seen people see the prompt and just go with a password and not realize that the email address was wrong.
Aside from that, you can try resetting your password via the iForgot app.
If you forgot your password, you can easily recover or reset it using iForgot. For security reasons, Apple cannot reset your password for you. To protect yourself against unauthorized purchases to your credit card, do not give out your password to anyone.
NOTE: If you attempt to sign in to the Apple Online Store numerous times with the wrong password, you will see the following error message: “This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons." To reset your account, use iForgot.

Disks do not auto-failover; must metaset take first

In Solaris 10, Cluster 3.2, two node:local zone cluster.
The SAN disks do not auto-failover when I do a switch on the resource group. Instead, to fail over, I must:
- clrg online fails
- manually mount the SAN disks to the node
- clrg online success
To fail over to other node, must
- clrg switch [2nd node] fails with messages:

Thunderbolt data service down

Spoke with tech support who confirmed that data service is down for some (but not all Thunderbolts). My wife's tbolt has been out since midnight. Rep stated no ETA, but there are issues network wide.
Anyone else experiencing a problem with their tbolt? My droid incredible is working fine.

I dont think so. But I could very well be wrong. I believe the SIM is strictly for 4G. Even if that was the reason, wouldn't ALL TB's be DOA?

Since I am making up the explanation... it could be that "part" of a SIM authentication is down (e.g. some fraction of a distributed database) while the rest works. But, this is based on absolutely no knowledge of the real situation, just giving a possible explanation of how thunderbolts could be impacted while 3G phones are ok.

Yes, it's seems like a poor design decision.
By putting the date on the line below the Note title in the Notes Index, the app shows half the number of notes per page AND if you have a large number of notes, it takes twice as long to stroll down.
I doubt the designer actually uses the app.

I have two databases called "*Report*" and "*Production*". I have a report database which copy a data from production database. I want to write a Stored procedure to compare the count of one table in both the databases. All the tables are same in both the databases.
Please note :*
1. We are writing the procedure to find out the data copy is happening or not and also report database is down or not.
2. Not all times, the both the count is same, sometimes it take delay to copy the data in report database but report database is not down.
Please see the query to compare

I am suggesting to take a count for every 5 mins and keep in temp table and compare it.

How are you replicating the data from the production database to the reporting database?
Wouldn't it make more sense to monitor that replication process rather than counting every row in the table every 5 minutes? That's going to get rather expensive for non-trivial tables. If you are using something like Streams to replicate the data, it would make far more sense to monitor the Streams apply process, to determine when the reporting database it updated as of, than it would to monitor the underlying tables.

Service not get failover

Hi we have created a service oem_repository in such a way that it will start on that database whose role is primary. It was working fine before. But recently when we switchover the database now the service is not getting failover to the new primary . Hence, the application is not able to start on the new primary side.
Please advise.

If you created the service with dbms_service, you should do it with srvctl or add it with the same because dbms_service is deprecated for RAC and oracle restart single instances, if you did not do something which you were supposed to do, you will not get the thing which you are supposed to get.. role changes in data guard managed by broker automatically start services appropriate to the datbase role, also the service starts when ROLE matches the current role of database and management policy is set to automatic..what option did you choose for failover type -e ? failover method -m ? you dont need to write a trigger also, all you need to get the failover of clients to a new primary is 4 things
1) Fast database failover
2) Restarting services on new primary
3) make sure you are using broker for this feature
4) notifying clients that a failure has occured to break out of tcp timeout and redirect to new primary
